We usually hang around the markfield park and as usual time before leaving the park we will drop by the cafe for dessert. My kids is so upset they been refuse into the restaurant, I have explain to the owner( he sound like he is the owner of the store) kids under 3 years old is not require wearing mask, however he is not listen to me and shouting to us get off of his restaurant, and the next second he serve 2 guys without Face mask and let them order in the restaurant , I feel like racist and is not fair for us! I will go back again and take some pictures to proof some of the customer do not require face mask but he bring so mean to my little one.

We first discovered this café while cycling along the Lee towpath, and later drove down Markfield Road and under the railway bridge for a second visit; ample free parking. Follow "Markfield Beam Engine" signs from Tottenham Hale. Abi and Sonia run an honest and friendly place with a wide menu on blackboards, all of it freshly prepared to order - so time for a drink (it is licenced now). See photos for menus and surroundings, but bear in mind it was dull, cold April Saturday morning, so not many people around except the four of us. Outside the café are public toilets, not maintained by the café - the state of these were reported by three of our party as insanitary, but the cafe has no toilets of its own. This is the ONLY negative point.

Went there today after a walk along the river Lea , placed our order and waited nearly an hour for our food , too busy selling ice creams to be worried about food orders .. had to go and chase it up ... when it came... disgraceful , anemic sausage even my Lab turned his nose up at it , fatty under cooked bacon , two hard rubbery eggs and cold toast which had been shown the butter but not been given any ... what a waste of money and won't be going back !!! Should be embarrassed sending crap food like that out ... ps ... I'm the one who left it on the table after waiting 45 minutes for it to arrive in case you're wondering !!

I found this cafe purely by accident whilst I was out wandering on my lunch break and made a plan to go back the next day and see what the food was like. I was not disappointed, there is an outside seating area under lovely vines or a patio for chilling in the sunshine. The food is brilliant, I recommend the Toblerone cake, it is melt in the mouth delicious! The owner is an absolute sweetheart who, whenever I go in, is a giggle and is always prepared to help you out. Easy access for disabled folk in wheelchairs or scooters with very close parking available on a flat level. It’s right next to the Markfield Steam Beam as well (haven’t been in there yet) and a 10second wall to the nearby canal. Thoroughly recommend this little island haven!

I went there with my 16 month old baby for lunch. You can see in the first glimpse that the place is very dirty, but i didn’t have another choice at that time and ordered pasta with tomato sauce for my daughter. It came in a large dish which looks the pasta poured in the plate carelessly. Maybe i can be blind about this, i am not a very neat person. But it looks it is a left over pasta, maybe from someone else’s dishes, because there was a little cucumber piece in it. I wouldn’t reccomend especially if you think you can have your lunch there with your lo after the playground which is very close to cafe.

We came whilst staying on a boat on the river Lea, and this cafe was a welcome place to get hot drinks, snacks and light meals. The owner is very friendly and happy to talk about the local area. The cafe itself has a very relaxed and warm atmosphere and feels like a local social club as much as a cafe. There is a small graden where you can sit out and this has interesting ornaments. It is also close to the beam engine museum is a good place to visit if you are walking by the river and marshes.

We took a group of 19 people into this cafe, after visiting the amazing Markfield Beam Engine. Far from being flustered by the sudden inrush of people wanting coffee and various snacks, the staff good humouredly served everyone quickly with good food and drinks. The warmest welcome received yet.

It is such a lovely oasis in the Markfield Park, adjoining the Beam Engine Museum. It has family-friendly vibe and seems to attract a range of people -- graduate students, walkers and cyclists, a film crew, families with children and museum-goers like us who stopped for coffee and tea. The food is fresh and reasonably priced (with West Country ice cream on offer too). The bonus is free wifi and friendly staff who serve you and let you linger.
