My twin brother and I were meeting family and friends in The Market Tavern for a get together, its a pub I always enjoy visiting, been here before on many occasions over the years, always had a good time and so it proved on our latest visit. A great looking pub, interior is superb, light and airy, an island style serving bar dominates the main room, pubby decor and furnishings, big screens to enjoy the sport and there's plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub both inside and outside looking out onto the busy and bustling Kirkby Town Centre, its just a really good pub to unwind in. I stayed on beers from Carling Brewery plus guinness, had a couple of whiskies also ,had a great time here, staff kept the beers flowing ,had a great night out in here ,couldn't fault anything to our visit here. The Market Tavern we easy to locate in Kirkby Town Centre. Opening hours are; Monday to Sunday, 9am till 11pm. Well worth checking out if you're in Kirkby Town Centre.

Well what can I say, the Market Tavern is a great place, full of atmosphere, it's electric. Especially when the entertainment, Herbie Graham, came on and then with his partner. The place was bouncing with laughter and dancing. Awesome. Thank you Maggie x

The pub itself is OK. Staff are nice enough, it's not expensive. It would be a great spot, but it's let down, unfortunately, by the locals. It seems all the local inbreds go there and sit out front shouting at passers by. The last time I went past a group of lads from this pub, they beat up a taxi driver and then went back into the pub. When your mum is your sister, it leads to this kind of activity. I feel sorry for the pub owners.

30 close friends and family descended upon The Market Tavern Pub and what a pleasant afternoon we had in here . The Market Tavern on Newtown Gardens is the best pub in Kirkby town centre and was busy when we visited early in the afternoon as they had a singer on. A former Wetherspoon pub'this pub has an excellent interior with superb feature's and superb seating areas throughout it's whole interior. They offer a well priced food range and an excellent drinks range and the staff in here are very friendly. We visit here a few times a year and it is always the same. This isn't a bad thing as they have the best range of beer in Kirkby with a nice draught and bottled selection of beers and we can sample a few different beers when here. On our latest visit we had a couple of pint's of Guinness which where brilliant and a few pints of Madrí Excepcional which were first rate. We also had a few bottled ale's which were superb and price wise very reasonable. An excellent pub and well worth a visit and so easy to find from Kirkby bus station it's only a short walk.(This is my fourth review of the Market Tavern). Opening Hours. Monday-Sunday-09.00-23.00. Public Transport. Bus Stop. Kirkby bus station.

Before jumping the bus down to Walton to visit some of the great pubs there my twin brother Stephan and I dropped into The Market Tavern ,a wonderful pub that's always good to visit. A former Wetherspoon pub,the interior is quite big,a solid wood serving bar dominates the main room, pubby decor and furnishings and big screens to enjoy the sport, there's also plenty of seating options both inside and outside looking out onto the busy and bustling town centre . We ordered bottles of Birra Morretti, these were served in excellent condition being iced cold and sparkling,we chilled out and soaked up the great vibe in this pub which was packed as they had live music being performed . My beer was really good,a light, hoppy and very drinkable beer bursting with taste which was very easy to drink,a totally refreshing beer indeed. We really enjoyed our beers in here before we moved on and as on every other visit to here we had a great time. The Market Tavern in Kirkby town centre is a decent pub that offers a decent range of food and drinks at affordable prices. The Market Tavern has a spacious interior with superb seating options throughout its whole interior'a nice bar and a really good outside seating area. On April the 12th the hospitality industry in the UK was finally allowed to re-open but it could only offer outside table service only and if your venue had outside seating your venue could trade. The Market Tavern has a fantastic outside seating area and was allowed to trade. We went here early afternoon and managed to get a table'once we gave all our details for the track and trace we stood in a queue for a minute or so and ordered our beers from a hatch. When here we ordered a few pints of lager from the Carling brewery and a few bottles of Birra Moretti an Italian Pale ale'all of the beers were served in perfect condition and really well priced. The Market Tavern is one of the better pubs in Kirkby town centre as it serves food and has a good drinks range which are well priced. The Market Tavern is very easy to find from Kirkby bus station it is a few minutes walk.(This is my second review of the Market Tavern). Opening Hours. Monday-Sunday-Don't Know. When We Visited They Closed The Outside Seating Area At 19.00 Hours. Nearest Bus Stop. Kirkby bus station. Nearest Train Station. Kirkby train station.

The pubs in my home town of Kirkby took the first tentative steps out of the pandemic laid out by Prime Minister Boris on the 12th of April with outside service only allowed, with this in mind my twin brother Stephen and I decided to swing past and see could we get a table outside, which we did . We track and traced and ordered a pint of guinness each, these were poured in the correct manner even allowing time for the all important settle, we just kicked back, chilled out and savoured our draught guinness, it seems like a lifetime since I last visited a pub ,14 weeks of lockdown had me looking forward to enjoying the little pleasures in life like enjoying a pint sat outside a pub and to be honest socialising again albeit socially distanced. My guinness was really good, thick, creamy and most importantly iced cold, just one delicious brew, after my guinness i had a few pints of Carling lager which were iced cold and sparkling and really tasty before my twin brother Stephen and I moved on ,we really enjoyed our drinks here ,had a great time,it was just so good getting back to some semblance of normality. The Market Tavern Pub is easy to locate on Newtown Gardens in Kirkby Town Centre. Opening hours are; Monday to Sunday, 9am till 11pm. A wonderful pub, most definitely well worth checking out if you're in the area.

Before the 3rd national lockdown descended my twin brother Stephen and I decided to jump the bus into Liverpool City Centre, we passed through Kirkby Town Centre on the way to the bus terminal and decided to drop into The Market Tavern Pub and what a very pleasant visit we had. I love the look of this pub ,a former Wetherspoon pub known as The Gold Balance Pub ,since the takeover of the pub the decor and furnishings is similar in style to the way Wetherspoon deck their pubs out,a solid wood serving bar dominates the main room ,light and airy, tv's to enjoy the sport and plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub both inside and outside looking out onto the busy and bustling Kirkby Town Centre, all in all its a great pub to unwind in. My twin brother Stephen and I were here on a Thursday early afternoon, we gave our details of name and phone number to assist with the governments track and trace system and then sanitised our hands, we were allocated a table were we ordered as part of the governments guildlines of having a substantial meal with alcohol cheese toasties and for our beers we opted to have bottles of Peroni Nastro Azzuro ,this is a superb Italian pale lager that is a joy to drink, light, hoppy and bursting with taste, very easy to drink, a beer style both myself and my twin brother Stephen are particularly fond of, while sipping our beers our cheese toasties arrived and what a treat, thick toast smothered in cheese served with a side salad, very tasty ,went with our beers so well ,it was just so good being in such a lovely pub enjoying nice food and beers. After we finished our meal and 1st beer we then stayed for another pint each ,we chose pints of Carling lager ,a light and unpretentious lager style beer bursting taste and when served iced cold as in here a really refreshing beer. We moved on after our second beer and as on every other visit to here we had a great time, with the rollout of the vaccines and the great success of the vaccination programme the hospitality sector has a roadmap out of the pandemic with pubs being allowed to reopen on the 12th of April with outside service only and from the 17th of May inside and outside service allowed and by June 21st more or less back to normality so hopefully The Market Tavern Pub will open on the 12th of April as it has a big outside seating area out front and a beer garden out back, hope so as I will visit this pub on that day. The Market Tavern Pub is easy to locate on Newtown Gardens in Kirkby Town Centre. Opening hours are; Monday to Sunday, 9am till 11pm. Well worth checking out if you're in the area and when the 3rd and final lockdown is lifted.

The Market Tavern Is A Pub Located In Kirkby Town Centre And Is In My Opinion The Best Of The Three Pub's Located Around Kirkby Town Centre'The Other Two Being The Premier And Brambles Sports Bar.Housed In A Former Wetherspoons Pub That Was Called The Gold Balance The Market Tavern Offers An Extensive Drinks Range And A Decent Carvery Style Menu Which Is Well Priced. The Interior Of The Market Tavern Has A Clean And Fresh Look With Plenty Of Good Seating Areas And An Excellent Bar Area'When We Visited The Market Tavern There Was An Outside Drinking Area But This Could Be A Temporary Measure Due To The Covid 19 Pandemic. When We Visited Here On The 4th Of July Around 11.00 O'Clock In The Morning We Had To Sanitise Our Hands And Give Our Details To A Member Of Staff Before We Could Enter The Bar Area'Once This Was Done We Ordered Our Drinks'A Couple Of Bottles Of Birra Moretti From The Bar And Took A Seat That Was Socially Distanced From The Next Table.I Was Impressed By The Staff In Here Who Were Very Professional And The Layout Of The Pub'This Is A Pub I Don't Often Visit As I Mostly Drink Cask Ale'But I Will Visit More Often As It Has A Nice Feel About The Pub And The Staff Are Excellent. To Visit This Pub Jump Any Bus Going To Kirkby Town Centre The 14-19-20-21-217 To Name A Few Or The Northern Line Train From Liverpool City Centre Were You Can Take A Bus Or Take A 15 Minute Walk To The Pub.(This Is My First Review Of The Market Tavern). Since March all pubs, bars and restaurant have been closed down due to the coronavirus pandemic but with the easing down of restrictions the pubs, bars and restaurants are now reopening, I couldn't wait to get out and about on what was dubbed super Saturday and the 1st pub I visited was The Market Tavern Pub in Kirkby Town Centre. I like the look of this former Wetherspoon pub,a big single room which is dominated by a solid wood serving bar,tv's to enjoy the sport, nice decor and furnishings and plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub both inside and outside on their patio area looking out onto the busy and bustling town centre. As this was the first day of the reopening of pubs we had to follow a few simple procedures, my twin brother and signed our names in leaving contact details ,there were hand sanitisers placed at various points in the pub and we were led to a table,we ordeted a Birra Moretti each ,these were served in excellent condition being iced cold and sparkling ,we just kicked back, chilled out and took in the great pub we were in and planned out the day ahead while sipping our beers. My beer was really good, a great Italian beer, its a crisp, light and hoppy lager style beer bursting taste, very easy to drink, a beer style I really enjoy, my twin brother Stephen also gave me a thumbs up to his beer, after 99 days without a beer ,I certainly appreciated the beer and being able to socialise again in a pub again. We really enjoyed our beers in here and although our visit was only fleeting as on every other visit to here we had a great time. The Market Tavern Pub is easy to locate along Newtown Gardens. Opening hours are, 9am till 11pm. A great pub,one I highly recommend you visit if you're in Kirkby Town Centre.

Staff brought baby's food all at once, main and dessert after an hour's wait. Hands up if anyone knows what a kid will choose over main and dessert... Then came back 20 mins later and took all his food without even asking if he'd finished...he hadn't, he was still picking, because he's a child. Wholly do not recommend this place for children or families. Bar staff are lovely though. The 1* is purely for them. 0* for food service, disgusting attitude.

Dropped into The Market Tavern on a Thursday night, pub was busy ,a good atmosphere, we ordered a guinness each, these were poured in the correct manner even allowing time for the all important settle,we just chilled out and took in the great vibe in this busy and popular pub. My guinness was exceptional, a thick ,creamy guinness served iced cold, while sipping my guinness I had a good look around the pub, this former Wetherspoon pub looks good,a cosy interior, really nice decor and furnishings including a cool looking serving bar and plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub ,there's also some great wall art in here, it's a proper good pub. We really enjoyed our guinness in here and stayed for two each before last orders, the one thing that could improve this pub is keeping it open later ,your literally out the pub at 11pm which is a shame as later opening hours would benefit this pub. Usually my local and never going back. Red haired server is the most useless person ever. No need to have such bad service and confrontation. Avoid at all cost. She doesn’t need sackin, rather just a bit of training on attitude. I watched a customer come the bar and ask “what gins do you have”, only to see her point at the bar. Also maybe swear less at customers. Definitely heard “cheeky fuc*ers” muttered. All round lovely.

We booked a table for a Sunday roast at 5pm but were not told beforehand that they had ran out of half the food! We ordered the “Three Meat Roast Dinner” and only had 2 meats available, beef and turkey! Half the beef that was served was a challenge in itself due to the amount of fat it contained. We were then told they had no broccoli, no stuffing balls, no more roast potatoes (but then offered us extra potatoes after telling us they had no yorkshire puddings), and we only found out that they had ran out of yorkshire puddings when I asked where they were as they didnt come out with the dinners! We then ordered cauliflower cheese which came with a hair found by my daughter who then couldn’t continue eating her food and a member of staff asked us for the hair which we did not have as we didn't want to keep a rouge hair on the table full of food while we were eating! When we challenged the staff on the poor quality of food and lack of food we didn't get as much as an apology or a dessert for the children just told “they would speak to the kitchen staff” which didn't resolve the poor quality and lack of food/service we had received! Needless to say we will not be returning again!!

Visited this store today with my sister. We waited patiently to be served, after a 10 min wait we started to placed our order with the female member of staff i handed her the toasted sandwich to heat up,she just took it off me without saying a word. I then asked for 2 coffees one skinny latte and 1 soya then a male member of staff started to make the coffees in large glasses until I stopped him and said, I'd like small ones not large thankyou, we were not asked what size we'd like and it had already been put through the till as large, that was the first mistake. The toastie arrived and the female just literally threw it on the tray without saying a word.My sister said that's rude what you've just done, and you've never even said please or thankyou right through that transaction. My sister said we would like a refund as we don't feel you deserve our custom, your very rude to which the male then said to my sister stop shouting. My sister is partially deaf and does speak loudly but wasn't shouting,I was shocked by his comment, he should have just tried to defuse the situation at that point not defended the female member of staff. She shouted over the male member of staff, I said sorry didn't I but it wasn't sincere,he then proceeded to do the refund.I worked in retail for 19 years for a reputable company and customer service was at the the for front, also my sister works in whiston hospital in the restaurant and the same applies there, looks like costa don't seem to think so, the staff definitely need afew lessons in customer service. We will definitely not be visiting that branch again!

Went to park up, man from upstairs balcony shouted you can't park there very arrogantly, they have an issue with people parking there and going the hospital but we had come from the hospital for a few drinks on way back, was meeting someone in there who had just ordered we cancelled the order and went a better pub down the road (The Rocket) will never go back in again....
