Market Cafe in Tendring

Popped in for drinks and cake on a bright and chilly afternoon. Haven’t been a cafe in Clacton for probably over 20 years; was very impressed with this place! Kind, friendly and welcoming staff, lovely cakes and good coffee too. Couldn’t believe the reasonable prices either. Clacton needs more places like this one. Can highly recommend.

We sat in an outside area, which also appeared to be a 'walk through', but it didn't detract and was shaded from the sun. The 'home made' cakes were lovely, and went down well with a pot of tea. The staff were really friendly and attentive.

Pop in every Thursday morning for breakfast before I go to my course. This week had bubble and squeak with poached egg and slice of toast and coffee. Excellent bubble tasty poached egg and great coffee. This cafe is putting the others in clacton to shame. Not surprised it gets busy. Lovely ladies who always welcome me warmly. My favourite cafe 💕

Absolutely fabulous . Tea and cake for three . Lovely old fashioned decor . Service second to none and we all felt very pampered . Will definately visit again soon .

Really nice cafe, nice decor. The food was tasty. However our experience was ruined by a young mother who sat at a table near us and let a child scream constantly the entire time. Difficult situation for staff as I believe the father of said child works there. Not for me.

This is now “The Old Market Cafe” in High Street. We were attracted by the look of the place from the outside and were not disappointed as it is very smart inside as well. We went for lunch a few times whilst staying in the area. We had a dog with us but it wasn’t a problem as there is a separate area for those guests with dog. The hot meals are very tasty and good value. There are also wonderful cakes. Highly recommended.

Had an amazing afternoon tea, sandwiches were delicious, so many cakes to choose from and scones to die for with jam and cream. Tea was plentiful with top ups when required. Staff were so kind and helpful. Thoroughly recommend this place.

I am reluctant to write this review as they may end up getting so busy that there will no longer be room for us. We were on a property hunt from Kent and needed to find somewhere for breakfast. Luckily enough we parked outside the Market and saw the sign for the Cafe...... how glad we were. I had one of the best fry ups that I have had for years. The decor is charming, the staff couldn't have been any nicer and it was spotless. We were so impressed we went back for lunch the same day. Don't let this little gem pass you by as you will regret it. It will be my first port of call when we hopefully move to Clacton.

Stopped off here for a quick cuppa and snack. So nice to see a cafe still serving rolls. Much better than all the other varieties of snacks.service was good.Would come again.

I love my vist here staff very friendly great service .homemade cakes to die for Sandwiches and rolls plenty of filling .Granary bread if requested .

This cafe sells tasty food at very reasonable prices. I had a jacket potato with cheese and beans and it was cooked properly with a nice crispy skin. My OH had a tuna melt sandwich which he said was very nice. This, together with a mug of tea and a hot chocolate, came to less than £10. The only problem we had was the chairs are probably the most uncomfortable we have ever sat on.

Set inside Clacton Covered Market is this wonderful gem of a cafe. Food is cooked up on request, prices are great, the seating area is absolutely wonderful and the wonderful buzz of the market surrounds you to make this a trip worth making.

Another wonderful experience in this gem of a cafe. Food was plentiful and piping hot. Very nice setting, probably the nicest I have seen in Clactons cafes. The staff are friendly and attentive. A must go cafe. Please try it out you will be glad you did.

Situated in the Indoor market right in the middle of Clacton. An eclectic mix of stalls, fine to browse when raining, and to stop and rest a while with a drink and snack. Accepts dogs in there, a bonus, can get very busy, serves a selection of meals, sandwiches and normal fare expected in these places. My last visit was a tad disappointing, the tea was quite insipid, coffee was of the "powdered" type, cheap and cheerful, NO, cheap and nasty. Plate of chips, well a dozen chips on a small plate, hardly worth the cost, such a shame. Try it out it may suit.

Not been to this cafe for 15 years and it's still the same, which is not a bad thing. I ordered an English breakfast which was freshly cooked, eggs cooked to perfection, all hot and fresh. :)

Stumbled upon this place when walking around the market, stopped for some lunch 2 of us had full English breakfasts and 1 person had a pasty. Really delicious food everything was hot and portion size was perfect. Would recommend and return when I’m next in Clacton.

Brilliant good food friendly staff and very welcoming a nice place to relax after a hard shopping day the food is varied so you can eat vegetarian as well and dogs are welcome to

Quaint little indoor market with various stalls such as the music/guitar, jewellery, gardening plus greeting card ones, as well as a nice cozy cafe selling a good range of various breakfasts, hot lunches, sandwiches, cakes, plus hot drinks all made fresh at very reasonable prices, i ordered the all day breakfast & the lady who served me was really friendly, the lady who brought my food out to me wasn't, it looked good & was tasty, but could of been hotter.

Tucked away in the Inside Market, the food is always good, a varied menu to suit all tastes & reasonably priced, you don't have to wait long either, even when busy. Ideal for everyone, & nice décor. We always go now every time we visit Clacton.

We called in here recently for coffee and a bacon roll.

We have been here before and the Food was good, so enjoyed a cooked breakfast. Nice and clean with friendly staff and a good choice of food. All the food is reasonably priced and mostly made on the premises or is locally sourced.

Located inside Clacton covered market which was formerly a dairy is the The Market Café. We found it by chance as my wife had come to the wool stall.

Have been here only a few times and can recommend anything on menue. Very friendly and reasonable prices.well done market cafe

This is not the first time that I have used this little gem,but the first time since I have had Trip Advisor .This is a cosy little place where you don't feel in the way reading your daily paper.Today I had a full English breakfast which is always cooked nicely and always looks well presented on the plate.The female staff are always very friendly and helpful .If you are looking for a nice place to eat,this is it and it will not cost you a fortune.

First visit to Clacton On sea found this cafe while looking around the covered market it looked busy we had 2 x full breakfast had black pudding as an extra and 2 mugs of good strong tea cost £9.50

On my visit into Clacton, I popped in to the Market Café had a nice hot meal, cup of Tea and was really nice. There is a range of Drinks and Cakes Scones etc. The Tea ladies were friendly so were the prices.

I found this little gem in the heart of Clacton-on-sea's town centre.

I visited the market with a friend for a catch up and quick latte to actually spending almost 3 half hours there eating homemade cakes and laughing with members of staff who may I add were full of joy and smiles!! I will defiantly return to this friendly, SMILEY cafe again.

Attractive cafe in the centrally located Clacton covered market. Food generally well cooked though prices tend to fluctuate daily with the mood of the staff e.g. Two slices of bread and butter 50p one day and the next a portion of the same was 40p for one slice. Egg chips and beans £2.60. Double egg and chips £2.60. two egg omelet and chips £5.00. While prices are inconsistent the miserable demeanor of the staff was not. The cafe itself is bright and pleasant with a strong french influence. All that is needed for a nice time is a little luck or a change of management.
