Marino's Fish bar in Mid Sussex

My chips were hard as the rocks and dried, probably they put the last portion in from the ‘maker’. Is anyone even allowed to sell this kind of chips like that? Horrible. The burger didn't have any taste. It was like I was eating plastic. And the fish not was I was expected to be, too dry. The lady in there should be more friendly, she looks like she can't wait to close the shop. Grumpy all the time. Smile doesn’t cost anything.

Grubby shop small portions reheated microwaved don’t go here only thing worse than the food is the staff

This used to be the best chippy in Burgess Hill but it's gone down hill recently. If you like any other fish but cod be prepared to be disappointed if you come later in the day. Not a great chippy for Huss fans, they hardly ever have enough in. Used to be great but not any more.

Been using Marino's fish and chips since they opened, before that all local fish and chips weren't to my taste so I didn't bother. There is always a short wait for the food as they cook it to order but for me it's a plus point to have it cooked fresh. I only visit about 4-6 times a year but not once have I been disappointed. Even though I am not there often they always remember me and how I like my order. Couldn't recommend enough.

Had the worst cod and chips ever Cod not cooked well Batter over cooked Chips disgusting Old oil We rated this as the best fish and chip shop ever m... I now never want to eat fish and chips again. I felt so sick afterwards. It’s also doubled in price AVOID

use to use it regular and looked forward to eating from here after not eating fish and chips for a long time phoned up to order early and was told it would be an hour ordered the skate small cod and chips small cod and a large portion of chips and we got there before 8 it had already been cooked for however long before us arriving the cod was overcooked the skate very oily and the chips not nice at all very dissapointing

This is the only place we go. We live nearby; there are others but this is the best. And you can get fish n chips on a Monday!

I have been using this shop for years. Today I bought Huss and chips for lunch. The portion was generous. It was cooked to order.The Huss had far too much brown in it. I expect the underside to be dark fish but this was horrible. The batter was stodgy inside and so crisp and brown on outside it was inedible.

Very clean place and tasty food. Tried this place after being disgusted with the Royal fish bar where I saw a rat run through the kitchen. Marinos saved the day with a quality service.

We use this fish bar weekly. Everything is made to order so what ever you order it’s fresh and tasty . You can even phone an order through so your wait time is a little less.

A great fish and chip shop worthy of the previous reviews. The chips were excellent - still crispy by the time they got home and not at all leathery as some can be. Also had battered sausages and mushy peas. Would highly recommend as would most of the people queuing out the door! We didn't have to wait that long and service was friendly. Cash only.

Takes a little while but the wait is worth it. Fresh fish fresh chips!! Easily one of the best Chippies I've visited.

Better than my nearest chip shop Jupps always have to wait but it's worth it for crispy chips yum!!!!

This place is always busy with good reason, the fish and the chips are consistently excellent, cooked as you wait, which may be up to 15 minutes so don't be in a hurry! We normally order a large chips with one large cod and find this amount plenty for the both of us, economical too at £7.40.

Does the standard fish, chips (great) & sausages but also fried chicken and burgers amongst other stuff. Good prices and quick service- can also phone ahead! Recommend the onion vinegar on your chips!

This chippy is without a doubt the best.My tip is to phone in your order as everything is freshly cooked. There is a long que here every weekend.The chips are amazing and sometimes we put them in the oven at home to crisp up-yummyThe haddock is so tastyKids meals are also great value

Great fish & chips, just remember if going they don't take cards, so need to take cash. The meal wasn't greasy and was really tasty also they have a good choice.

Sun 14th Aug.....popped in for Steak/Kidney Pie chips plus xtra chips. Was not asked to wait.....but waited. No one else in there. £6.50.......chips absolutely vile.....hard...over fried....disgusting......will be taking back tomorrow if open!

Great batter, good portion sizes and they kids meals are really good value. They also several Huss which is unusual.

Pre ordered some skate but was disappointed with the outcome. The batter was very hard as opposed to being crisp as in the past. They have changed the man behind the counter frying and the standards seem to have dropped somewhat. I will give it 1 ,.more try but feel I may have to try another shop if the same standard continues and doesn't return to its original high standard

I saw a review on a local media site recommending the fish & chips from here ~ having sampled them for myself, I won't go anywhere else now! Always freshly cooked, more than ample portion sizes and reasonably priced.

Chips are still very good - sadly the fish has become so thin that there is more batter than fish - sorry to say it but there are better fish shops around

Another fish and chip shop in Burgess Hill may have been questioned. Could it survive, would it be good enough? Answers: Yes and yes. Despite stiff competition Marino's has become one of the busiest Fish and Chip shops in Burgess Hill. Going there and finding a queue of eager customers is testament to it's popularity and value for money. Good product and happy upbeat service at a good price will ensure that this business continues to thrive.

This is a great place! The fish is lovely, crispy batter and the chips are chunky and lovely and they have nice mushy peas!The staff are so friendly. We have been so many times and cannot fault the service and the food. Try the battered sausages and the battered mushrooms too.

I work around the corner from here and we go every Friday lunch time. Never ever could I fault it, the chips are lovely and really crispy.We don't wait very long as we phone through our order and their timing is always great. We would never dream of going anywhere else!

I have used this chippy on a weekly basis for the past 3 years. The food is freshly cooked is excellent value & the staff are all extremely friendly. Absolutely faultless.

This is by far the best in the area others do not even compare all freshly cooked and crispy batter and chips unlike most which just burn the stuff trying to get them as good.Try this shop and you will never go anywhere else.

I had been told about this take away and decided to give it a try. If you like crispy batter and chips this place is for you. They have a wide selection of fish and all the usual extras and everything is cooked to order to is hot, crisp and fresh. It's the only place I've ever been to that tops it all off with a wedge of lemon!The staff are lovely, very friendly and helpful and appear to be very well known and liked by all who visit here. This is by far the best fish and chip shop in Burgess Hill if not the best in the whole of Britian.

Food is always good but on a Saturday be prepared for a wait if ordering at about 6PM. All the same always go back to this place its good.

If you like Rick Steins fish and chips in Padstow and Harry Ramsdons, this take away is the nearest for quality fish and chips I have had in sussex.

Oh my word the portions here are huge. The fish, which I had, was so crispy and the chips were lovely and crunchy, not soggy like you get in other places. Everything is cooked to order, so even though you might be waiting for your food for a while, it is worth it because of the shear size of the portion. Also it tastes clean, there is no fishy, dirty oil taste on the chips. Truly a fantastic chip shop that we are going to make our regular take away.

They say they "close at 10" but they actually shut everything down at about 9pm so good luck eating past that point.

As Jupps was shut on a Sunday went here....clean shop and excellent service can phone through but sorry Jupps has the edge.

Found this little Gem a year or so ago and must say am pleased I did. Their premises are spotlessly clean and they change their oil very regularly. They cook to order mostly (I phone through in advance) - and the portions are excellent, the batter crisp and the chips very clean. All this with a smile and a great Box and a slice of lemon, so easy to eat from the box!On top of this, they often have Skate, my favourite fish, and they also have a special chicken cooker for 'southern fried chicken' type chicken. Great value and as I said previously, they get 5* for their Food & Hygiene Check.

Without doubt, this is the best Fish and Chips in Burgess Hill. When we first moved to Burgess Hill, people were always recommending Jupp's. We tried them, they were nice and that was that. Then someone mentioned Marino's. They blew Jupp's out of the water. The batter on the fish is a lot lighter and less greasy, the chips are fantastic and the prices are very very good. The fish and chips comes in boxes, so much easier to eat and then recycle. The added touch of a fresh slice of lemon with every piece of fish is nice. Will never go anywhere else for our Fish and chip fix now.

Had to get this place mentioned on TA. Easily the best fish and chips locally, if not in sussex. Great portions, great fish (which has none of the skin on, bonus) and reasonably priced. The guys have a few little extra touches they add which makes it all the better. Consistent too with the quality, which is something other places in the area miss. The only gripe is it is always busy, but then you never have to wait that long
