Ordered a chicken kebab and haggis supper for delivery, it took around 1 1/2 hours to arrive and was cold when it arrived, the chips were stuck to the box in cold lard !! the only thing that was eaten was the chicken and only because we were starving, everything else went straight in the bin, never again !!!

Our first chippie since lockdown, felt like a wee treat. I ordered via the Marini website, which then took me to Just Eat. I also paid for it online. What should have happened was that the food would be ready and paid for when I arrived, so minimising any contact. I order before 6.-00 pm, was advised the food would be ready for collection at 6.20 pm. I arrived a few minutes before to find it was not very busy (maybe 4 customers) and that they had not started to sort my food - what was the point in doing this online/in advance? Having placed my order online before 6.00 pm, I was unhappy that it took almost 45 minutes for the food to be ready in a chip shop that did not seem overly busy. I pointed this out to the staff serving, no hint of an apology. The food was OK - nothing special. This is the last time I will ever use a Marini chip shop - my local and one I used to use before lockdown regularly.

Took my family for supper. The food was cooked fresh while we waited, the portions were quite large and not expensive. Well worth a try. The Haggis supper is spot on.

We phoned to place an order for delivery on 9th June at 6.05pm. Ordered 2 pizzas and a portion of chips as a treat for my daughter and her friend. We waited an hour and no sign of it so we phoned them, we were on hold for a while then told it was being loaded into the delivery car that minute and would be with us shortly. It finally arrived at 7.45pm! The driver did apologise and handed over a bottle of Irn Bru as a token of goodwill. All the food was lukewarm, like it had been sitting for some time. They had put the wrong topping on one of the pizzas so my daughter didn't even like hers. The chips were cold, greasy and many had big black rotten bits. If they had told us it would have been that long for delivery we would not have gone ahead with the order. Two disappointed kids - would not recommend!

Having tried the other fish and chips shops in Dunfermline, this one is by far the best. Fish always in a light and crispy batter and chips never greasy or stodgy. We always drive out of our way to go here when other places are closer to where we live. Don't forget to ask for the free coleslaw. Highly recommend.

The small serving, leaving me still hungry even though had peas too, is a good practical reason for not going back, but the strongest reason is that they are willing to spoil customers' whole experience by having a pigheaded, functionally pointless, rule about a door. This place started good when it began, and before its latest refit it used to serve satisfying portions and slip in little tubs of coleslaw too. No longer. Noticing how other reviews are showing a recent move to rudeness and bad feeling, the picture fits. They often have their back door standing open, they did today it's a hot summery day. It opens onto a public street, and it opens off the restaurant seating space near their toilet door, so from the customers' space, you don't go through any private business space to reach it. Yet they said, no it's just a fire exit you're not allowed to use it. Not allowed to use a door, between 2 public spaces and nothing was going to get harmed by using it. That's evil. It's simply contempt for the public. They are not interested in how going there feels for us, in exchange for our money, don't give them it.

Ordered a fish supper, a half pizza supper and a childs portion of chicken nuggets on Wednesday 12th August at around 5 pm. The fish batter was so hard it shattered and it was so hard to chew threw. The pizza base was so hard it was so difficult to cut it that I gave up and the nuggets were over cooked. This is the second time I have used this chip shopvand last time was just as bad. I had hoped it was a one off but obviously not. I won't be back.

Something unexpected happened to be today:Man walks into Marini's fish and chip shop and orders a large chips. When asked if he'd like salt and vinegar (exact words were "ya wantin salt n vinegar son?" ignoring the condescending term and resisting the urge to retort with a phrase that included the words "baby-cakes" or "little woman" he replies "yes please, lots. Also a plastic fork please". Lady behind the counter glowers at his presumption of asking for a plastic fork "5pence extra" she replies with aggressively smug satisfaction.Man walks out and then, realising something's wrong, goes back in to ask for more salt and vinegar. She snaps "in a minute!" And after walking around behind the fryers for a minute , begrudgingly puts her hand out for the container he's holding, slams it on the counter and pours what can only be described as a sarcastic mountain of salt and an ocean of vinegar into the chips "that'll teach you son" her expression says.Unfortunately the plastic fork is also now drenched and covered in condiments. Noticing there were any laid out "do you have a napkin I could wipe my fork with please?" The man asks. By this time, the angry put-upon lady has had enough of this so called "customer" expecting a "modicum of politeness and service", stands there staring at him for a few seconds, sighs, tuts, shakes her head and walks to the side of shop. Comes back and literally throws a napkin at him.Punchline? Man doesn't ever go back but shares his experienceHandy hint: Why not recruit people who don't harbour a deep festering resentment for all things customer-related. Seriously, it was only a portion of chips.

I really enjoyed my black pudding supper and my partner had a sausage supper. You get two huge pieces of both the sausage and the black pudding so we had one each. Myself and my partner agreed the sausage was a clear winner and the black pudding was slightly dry (although we are used to stornoway black pudding so that was to be expected). My father in law had the chicken and chips and he couldn't get over how much chicken he had and was stuffed! Overall very good chippy food as it should be!

Son went to get chips tonight to have with our dinner. The competition in Duloch is pretty intense, with a wide range of traditional chippies and other take aways.Soon as he got home and opened the boxes, I though oh oh, as they looked very pale. Anyway dived in and yup, not cooked. I don't like chips al dente! Who does? The only ones edible where the small ones. Kids were not happy and I can't blame them. It is unforgivable and shameful to turn out something like this and they purport to be good traditional fish and chip shop. RUBBISH.I understand they may be under pressure to serve when there is a queue who have been waiting for chips, but this is basic chips 101.Maybe a one off, but really bad. We won't risk it again.I tried to find a phone number to call them, but quick online enquiry turned up no number for duloch.

We popped in when they first opened to have a sit down chippy. (It used to be Deep Blue and we thoroughly enjoyed their sit-in meals). We were told that they had no plates but they could give us paper boxes if we wanted instead. We thought ok that's fine and they then went on to say they had no cutlery. We said we would pop back another day when they were a bit more organised. Giving them the benefit of doubt, I went in today to get a fish supper, single sausage and some ice cream. I placed my order and was told it was £10.79, I thought that was a very good price. I then saw the assistant place a very small half piece of fish onto some chips. I asked "do you only get half a fish with the supper?" she said "no thats a whole fish". I told her that you used to get 2 fish with the suppers before. Then from somewhere behind the counter a man shouted dismissively "not for £2.99 you won't". I said "I beg your pardon?" and he told me there is a sign in the window saying all suppers were £2.99. I said I just asked for a fish supper assuming I would get the same quality that I got from the previous owners.I said I did not look at the poster in the window just at the prices over the counter that said 'fish supper £4.10' so that is what I assumed I was getting. He then went on to say 'I can give you that if you want it" with a bit of attitude towards me. By this time, feeling quite embarrassed, I said no thank you.I feel if you are offering 'specials' you should not compromise on quality, don't make offers then reduce the amount you are prepared to provide. You should also be prepared to explain to customers that the 'special offer' is actually just a smaller portion costing less than a normal portion as otherwise the offer is completely misleading.I did not want the offer and I was unaware that it was even running. I just wanted a good quality take away which unfortunately Marini's failed to provide. The man (who I think was the manager) was particularly rude and a little bit intimidating to say the least. We previously went to 'Deep Blue' on a regular basis to have a good quality sit-in meal. After my experience today I don't think we will be returning to Marinis!. The food was very greasy and cold - not really worth the money. There are plenty of better chippys in Dunfermline. I think I'll be going to them from now on.

I don’t have a fish tea very often, mainly due to the quality being a bit poor, including quite a well known one in Anstruther, however, this restaurant was recommended by a family member so I thought I would give it a try. I was not disappointed. The food was delicious, nice and fresh and a good size portion. I will certainly visit again and would highly recommend.

I stopped in on Friday night for fish supper and a sausage supper. The chips were very nice the sausage was freshly cooked and my son really enjoyed it. But unfortunately my fish was very dry as all the fish is cooked in advance and sits there dehydrating . It may speed up the service but it most definitely did not make it enjoyable to eat. Please cook to order it will get you much more repeat business. Also this is the second time I paid for pickled onions but didn’t get any in the box. If I go back I will be insisting on freshly cooked fish.

2 portions of fish and chips (takeaway) purchased 09/10/24 with one tub of curry sauce to share. Chips - Tasteless. They were very obviously re-heated or re-cooked because they were very hard and could possibly have been warmed up, from being cooked already, frozen chips. Fish - Mine was ok. Fish cooked nicely with crunchy batter evenly coated. One and a half pieces of fish per portion of fish and chips at £10.50 a pop was not good value given the size of the fish pieces. The grease in the box was phenomenal My partner was violently sick and threw the fish up during the night although he didn't detect anything wrong when he was eating but he did eat far more of his chips than I could manage. The curry sauce didn't go far over mine after putting a hearty amount over my partners therefore I can't comment on it apart from that because a few of the tasteless chips absorbed it making them appear to taste better. Won't be back!
