Walked in on a Monday night around 9pm. The barman was so welcoming, put the outside lights in the garden especially for us. Thank you for your warm welcome 🙏. This place looks nothing from the outside but don't let that put you off, jem of a little pub x

Hired the function room for a 70th birthday. Lee and the team were fantastic! They looked after us really well, really helpful and couldn't do enough. Our family have lived in the village for generations and Lee thoughtfully placed info from the museum about old family members in the room. Amazing little touches. Prices were great, atmosphere was amazing. Everyone felt so welcomed, both local and visitors. Fabulous with the kids. Would highly recommend. We've held countless parties and wakes in the Mariners over the years and we are lucky to have such a great venue on our doorstep. Thank you all. X.

Lovely little pub to stumble across before dinner. Gentleman behind the bar must be ex-forces, but couldn’t be more polite. Perhaps the most politest barman I’ve ever come across. Had a pint of Eric, local brew from Clearwater. Excellent. Enemy has a wine and she seemed happy, if nothing else, I wasn’t getting nagged. In fact we came back to see the night out. Good local history, dotted all around the pub. Very much splendid local feel to the vibe.

What a fantastic pub, was greeted and served in great time from the barman Lee who was super polite, cheerful and helpful, great service seeing as it was very busy and Lee still made time to chat whilst serving. There was plenty of choices of ales from locally brewed to the more commercial drinks. A pool table area is to left when entering the main door but the main bar offered ample of seating and tables with a darts playing area to the rear. The hidden gem, apart from the staff was the large beer garden at the rear of the premises, a great area for kids to run around and the pub is dog friendly aswell. All was well kept clean and tidy giving a good impression for the customer experience. Overall, the experience was fantastic, we stayed all evening drinking and chatting to the locals, the only down side was no food on offer, but again we were allowed to order a take away so not all was lost. Fantastic place, will most definitely visit again. 5 star rating.

Brilliant pub with easily the best kept pint in Braunton! We were made to feel very welcome by the regulars and especially the Bar Manager who is friendly, professional and polite (hope you have a great honeymoon in France). The pub has a great selection of drinks within a friendly atmosphere. We will return! Scott, Jo and girls

Excellent local pub with a really good atmosphere. Was welcomed upon arriving by the landlord and made to feel really valued as a customer. I can't speak too highly about this place. Engaged in several conversations with the locals and probably best of all was the quality of the real ale. Top notch local bitter on handpump. I only went in for one pint and stayed for three! I shall definitely return to this fabulous pub.

Popped into this recommended pub as a ‘truly local pub’ and it did not disappoint. Lee as the bar manager was so welcoming, giving us great tips about where to eat, good taxi services, good walking paths to follow - super friendly and welcoming. It’s rare to find a real pub where you can walk into a different small place pub and not feel stared at! Believe me - that’s rare and it was so lovely! Thank you Lee - we had a lovely meal in the village but it was topped off by a local pub chat and welcome! More priceless than people realise …

As a tourist to the area our only aim was to watch the football at a local pub, we fully expected your standard ‘old man’s’ pub with sticky floor but how wrong could we be 😁. Lee was exceptional, extremely polite & very helpful, spoke to & had a joke with the kids (possibly being a Liverpool fan helped 🤣) let us bring our own food, the cider recommendation was superb I really enjoyed it, the atmosphere was really welcoming the pool table great entertainment & generally a relaxing & lovely environment, many many thanks we will certainly be back.

Proper back-street local`s pub, but, fear not, you`ll be made to feel welcome. Lee went out of his way to look after us. He even remembered our drinks the following night! My daughter visited separately , but left her handbag , but he made sure it was safe until she returned to collect it the following lunchtime. Needless to say, we all visited that night to thank him and buy him a drink. Good service, atmosphere, drink and decent prices. Why would you go anywhere else?

We just visited this pub, wanted to watch the football and eat. Lee the bar manager welcomed us, could not have been friendlier. I asked if we could sit with the dog and watch the football, he said of course you can, turned on the TV on the right side of the bar. We had our own little spot. When I asked about food, he said the kitchen had closed, but we were welcome to bring food in. We walked to the chip shop, (3 mins away) fish chips and mushy peas, Lee the boss man took our wrappers away. We genuinely could not have been more warmly welcomed. Lee is a star, if you are looking for a lovely little place to visit while staying here, pop in, and pray that Lee is working tonight!

This family friendly traditional pub catered my family of eight. Really friendly and attentive staff. Didn't have to wait long for service after placing order. Roast beef and lamb lunches all round were great, served hot with ample meat, roast potatoes, hot gravy and lots of varied vegetables. Further more, really excellent value for money. Also recommend the submariner ale! Will definitely return when holidaying in the area again. Many thanks

Holidaying in Braunton, we spent two evenings in this friendly pub. Staff were excellent, efficient and helpful. Drinks were inexpensive at £6.40 for a pint of real ale and a medium size wine! Good choice of real ale. Food was delicious, with generous platefuls of home cooked, comfort food, both evenings with lots of choice. Only criticism was having to listen to the football transfers info from Sky sports on one evening. Apart from that we had two very pleasant evenings.

Its always a huge relief to find a pub thats really a pub, not an aspiring restaurant, just a proper pub full of friendly locals - a warm place humming with life with a really virtuous pint of Doom Bar that can only have tasted sweeter for the 4 hour drive that lead to it.All hail the mariners. A quality pint in a really special part of Devon.

It was the Easter weekend and most places were full or closed. Just down from our B&B was The Mariner. The host was very hospitable to the point they asked a young couple if they could move to a smaller table so the four of us could sit. I consider this a true old fashion English pub with live music and of course a dart board. I had a nice chat with a couple at the bar and we were very comfortable taking in the local atmosphere. The pub fare was enjoyable tasty and more than enough for a hungry appetite.

We’ve been recommended to go here for Sunday lunch by several friends. We gave it a try today and it was delicious. The roast potatoes and meat was fantastic, there was a great selection of accompanying vegetables and sides, the gravy was amazing & to make it all even better it was very reasonably priced. We called last minute and were still made to feel very welcome. I’d recommend for everyone to go and give it a taste.

Stayed here for 2 nights to attend a friends wedding in a resort 5 minutes walk up the road. When we arrived it was very busy with people eating in the pub/restaurant and there was no parking. Staff advised they had saved us a space and we moved the cones and got parked. Quickly checked in and shown to our room. The room was spacious and clean. Large bed with 2 single duvets, my only grumble was it was not great sleeping under 2 single duvets on the double bed. We asked staff about getting to the bed behind the hotel and booked a table for dinner bit later, they were really helpful. 20 minute walk up a very steep hill behind the hotel and down a steep cliff path, we were on the most stunning beach, we had a swim! We had the local rump steak and chips for dinner that night and it was delicious. Breakfast both mornings was included and was very nice indeed. Would recommend the food here. We enjoyed our stay here and very good location for attending our friends wedding at Watermouth Cove.
