Marina Brewers Fayre in Hinckley and Bosworth

Sitting outside, at the last tables, by the backyard parking lot, there is no nunber on the tables. If there is, it is well hidden. There was no way of explaining to the bartender that I cannot give him a number. Even though all the tables were empty, he still wanted me to go back and get him a table number. Tunnel vision at its best. No table number, no food. -Mate, don't you know what tables you have outside? Can't you put the order or ANY table number outside? They are all empty. -No, sorry, I still need a table jumber. Mate, you want me to go all the way back there, where there is no number on the tables, and give you a number that doesn't exist? -Yes, I need the table number. Too bad, was going to meet some motorcycle friends there. Not anymore, ever.

Recently visited midweek for a family members birthday meal out. The staff are very friendly and professional. It's in a lovely location by the Ashby canal. The place was pretty quiet at 6pm so found it a little annoying that we were put on a table next to another family making it difficult for us and them to move chairs to get out even though most tables were available As there were 8 of us they struggled to get all of our meals out with myself having to wait for my smothered chicken to be cooked. The rest of the family had almost finished by the time it arrived. Family said their food was really nice but I felt my chicken was inedible and I'll pretty much eat anything

During our recent visit to Brewers Fayre for breakfast (26/04/2024), our disabled son was having issues being in an unusual environment. The hostess was really accommodating and kept going the extra mile, to ensure that we had a great experience. Thank you so much.

The bar service was very ad-hoc, no structure to who was going to get served first. We had coffee which was fine, however, I ordered cheesy garlic bread. When It eventually came it was just 2 small slices, seemingly not grilled except for the cheese on top and was soggy. This at nearly £5.00. Sorry, not impressed.

Just had a lovely meal at the Marina and was served by Alfie who managed to get us another table away from the children's area. Thank you Alfie for your service and help.

Absolute dive! Avoid! We booked a table and we politely asked the waitress to sit away from the play area, we were met with a very rude response of "well the play area is over there" but we still had to put up with kids running around us constantly! The main bar area smelt of strong urine, the cutlery was filthy and the food was poor. Would not recommend going here!

We come here regularly and always enjoy the food and atmosphere at this Brewers Fayre. Meals are served very speedily by pleasant and helpful staff. Bar staff are always quick to serve in here too. All meals arrive hot and are great value with a varied menu we’ve tried most of by now. As far as pub grub goes you can’t get better than this place and I’m recommending you come and give it a try if you haven’t already !

I genuinely felt sorry for the 2 bar staff. The manager was just swanning about pretending to be busy while the two staff tried to deal with the large queues.

Lovely breakfast. Food is lovely a hot and fresh. Buffet breakfast is evident that the food is changed frequently. Excellent price for the variety of food being served. Well worth a visit.

Table booked for 10am breakfast. No black puddings, no mushrooms, no scrambled, poached or boiled egg. No syrup, no choc spread. No muffins, no fresh fruit and no bagels. No fruit juice and hot drinks machine was out of order though did get fixed. Staff were not interested and just said first come first served. What food there was was hot and decent though.

We like coming here for the breakfast as it works out great value with 2 kids eating for free, it's our go-to meet up place with friends in school holidays. The staff are really nice and welcoming even when they are busy rushing around :) could have done with the pancakes being topped up this time as there weren't any left when I went up! However if I had asked I'm sure they would have put more out but I didn't cos I'd definitely eaten enough by then anyway ;)

For the first time in my life, I sent the food back. Onion rings dripping with oil. Tomatoes in the salad were rotten. The food was stone cold. The steak was clearly a leftover which came out of the fridge and someone forgot to put it in the microwave. It was shrivelled and had to spit out the first mouthful tasting like sewage. The gammon was more fat than meat, chicken breast was just cardboard. Shame on you Brewers Fayre. You have lost my custom for life.

Had dinner and food was a good price (especially with the value menu which is Monday to Friday until 18:00pm priced at 2 for £11.99). Food was decent and what you would expect of a chain like this. Service was a bit slow but nothing unreasonable. Has a little soft play area for kids that was enjoyed. Overall can recommend if you are after a decent meal on a budget.

Lately been disappointed. Keep running out of popular items. Lager, like Coors and Carling. Certain food items. Lack of staff behind the bar. Brewers fayre is slipping and thereby lose customers

Went for breakfast this morning, got there to be rudely told they had no tables left despite there clearly being a number of tables free, person who told us this had the etiquette of an ape, not even a sorry, disgusting people skills, won’t be going again

I ordered chicken tikka curry last night and was very disappointed because curry sauce was more like soup so I could not even eat it with naan as I usually do. I did speak to a staff about it and she said it is the curry and this is how it usually comes out. I said no I did order this ten times in the past and this is a first time souse is so runny and lacking thickness. Manager did not offer me a refund or anything she just said that she can change it for the same dish . Obviously there is no point in that. On the other hand there is a lovely new lady working at the till. She is very friendly and helpful. I hope more people like that get employed by the restaurant.

Foods ok just dont go if your in hurry nice staff but clearly under staffed

Even though it was very quiet, was told all other tables were reserved. Was there 3 hrs and noone sat at any of the other tables. Food was only warm when it came out despite it not being busy and they didn't bring a peppercorn sauce they charged for. Ordered a mocktail which came in a coke glass. Very underwhelming. The waitress who brought the food was lovely and very polite but other staff could do with being more helpful.

It was our first visit here for breakfast and we were impressed with everything. We have had quite a few Premier Inn breakfasts before but this was our first buffet style one. We preferred it as we could decide what we wanted when we saw it rather than needing to decide when ordering.

Absolutely fantastic all around service, staff, food, drink. Had evening meal with my girlfriend and it was lovely, that wasn't a big wait despite just being a walk in. Got seated within a few mins. All you can drink on fizzy pop which is fantastic for customers that don't drink alcohol. I'll be there for the breakfast soon!!!

I find it a nice place to eat with a good range of menu items. The staff have always been friendly and helpful. Being able to sit next to the water and watch the boats passing is a bonus.

Very good for breakfast 😋. We haven't tried the dinner menu yet. Very friendly even when it is quite busy.

Cold food, extremely slow service, understaffed.

I had booked a Christmas meal at the beginning of December for Christmas day at 5pm. They stopped serving food at 4pm and the cancellation email was sent to my spam email box so I had no idea. We turned up to be told by the manager,who was quite abrupt and not very apologetic,that all bookings after 4pm had been cancelled. We went home hungry as nowhere else was available at such short notice on Christmas day obviously.

Christmas Day dinner. It was eventful to say the least. Staff look like deer in headlights most of the time, on edge and not very good at hosting at all. No very festive either.No atmosphere except staff running around like headless chickens. Starters arrived and we all had prawn cocktail. The sauce was very runny and there wasn’t much of it. But the prawns were lovely and fresh, so was the salad. Shame about the lack of sauce. Carvery was a shambles really. No sides available as ordered. They said they put everything out - why ask on the form beforehand to order sides? The gravy was like water and had a funny orange tinge to it?! The meat was lovely! So were the yorkies! The parsnips were black, undercooked roasties, dirty carrots, stuffing was rock hard. Please don’t get me started on the brussels - they had turned grey! I could go on but you get the drift. It felt like, well you’ve paid for the meal already so we don’t care what we serve you. Not very good at all.

Staff were friendly and busy. We ordered the Christmas dinner offer with desert, we did ask for our desert of black forest gateau and waited 20 minutes. We ended up leaving without desert as we had to be somewhere!!!! The food was nice and recommended but it would have been a nicer to have completed the meal!! I’ve accepted that they were busy but at least someone in the kitchen should have known!!!

Bit slow on service long time between courses

Good food and had a 33% off food coupon so well worth it. Food very hot and good value. Staff very friendly.

Loved the meals and the staff were all helpful and friendly. Great all round service!!! We have eaten there about six times now in the last month and the service is consistent every visit. The food is also consistently good. I would imagine it complements the Premier Inn next door quite nicely.

Booked for 11 people for the festive menu. The smell was awful as you entre. We had pre ordered as advised to be told we could not order drinks at the table. The food was awful the manager needs a lesson in customer service. Lost a fortune on drinks as we had money to spend on drinks but refused to take orders at the table. No festive decorations on the table. It was shocking to be fair. Had Christmas music playing outside but not inside. I had a another party of 11 coming on the 25th Nov but we are cancelling and going to the longshoot were we have been told our table will be decorated in the festive theme. I will say we had a fantastic night but that had nothing to do with the food or service just the great team that I work with who work so hard and was looking forward to a good meal. Never again!!!

Shocking place. Had previous bad experiences there but thought we would give it another go and wish we hadn’t. Family of 6 booked table at 5pm today (Sunday), wanted somewhere that the adults could have a carvery but kids could choose off the normal menu. Carvery had finished before 5pm and was being thrown away, advertised until 6. Hardly any meals from the festive menu. Staff had no idea what was available and let us order only to be told it was not available. Would complain directly but would probably be offered a voucher and that would involve having to go back so No Thanks! Avoid.

Pretty impressive smell as you enter. Actually gets better if you go to the back toilets. Sadly Severely understaffed. Food was cold and mediocre. Can’t blame the staff, they do their best with what they are given. Dirty glasses, even if watermarks, it should be cleaned. Its a shame as its in a nice location with the canal, the boats and the ducks.

Ate here every night as I was staying at the premier inn next to the pub, all in all the food was good however we where told the chicken goujons portion depended on what chef was on that night as some nights we got 3 and other nights we’d get 4, most of the staff where friendly and cheerful.

The food was ok .the service was poor .

The food is great there, though service could be improved a bit. Ordered the kids menus before adult menu to make sure there food would arrive first and fast, I don't mind waiting for my food but can't keep young kids waiting. The starter arrived promptly but that is where it ended had to request the main course for the kids twice, after all the adult food arrived already. The desert was only brought out after requesting it 4 times after everyone was finished already. Between starter and dessert for the kids was about 1 hour and 45 min, kids were constantly asking where is my food, kids tend to eat fast and want everything fast once starter is served main course should be made and be on the table in the next 5 to 10 min desert about 10 min after that for the kids. Not sure what happend but left with a bad experience because of that. The only positive is that they have free very small softplay which kept them semi entertained while waiting a very long time for there food.

Unfortunately the cask ale they sell is in shocking condition, ordered a beer and it was off so reluctant to take it back but was persuaded by my partner to do so, tried a different ale and it was even worse ( cloudy , bad smell, bad taste)...took it back and got a " now what" kind of response....food was fine, had the trio of Pies and was hot and tasty.

quality of food was poor. May aswell of chewed my own fingernails. No atmosphere at all, no music just screaming and a thick layer of silence. Spend a few more quid get a decent meal and not this garbage.

Just had an awful meal , cost was not cheap for a family of four and the food was substandard and this is being kind, prawn cocktail avoid a vinegary concoction with 6 small prawns on a bed of lettuce , this was promptly followed by a overcooked chicken and ham pie with overcooked peas and no gravy and about 10 chips , burgers we had were also overcooked and rubbery like the buns they were served in , service was non existent as was the atmosphere and the manager seemed to think making monkey noises whilst singing chumbawhumba at the top of his voice is ambience , we won't be returning and if you want some advice find an independent restaurant pay that little bit more for quality , you won't be disappointed like we were.

Visited here at 4 pm weekday, meals & service good but had to move to far end of restaurant because of excessive noise from children's play area, might as well have dined in a playground.

i visited this restaurant for the first time on Saturday 30/10- We were initially greeted by and served drinks by Stephen at the bar and were shown to our seats, He was warm and welcoming and it was a lovely interaction from start to finish. We were also served by Leah, who was lovely. The food was amazing and it all arrived hot and well presented. Food tasted great and i found they had a lovely menu range and the food arrived quickly. We also ordered deserts and they were incredible. Overall the experience was lovely and the staff are amazing. I shall be visiting again soon!!!

Friendly enviroment and better than average food,very good considering its buffet style and lots of options ,pastries and bread products extremely fresh,only downside is the queue for the coffee machine but great value for money and our grandkids eat for free!!

Ok but you can get a better Sunday lunch for less at other pubs. Gravey was lumpy and there was very little left. Cauliflower cheese looked like the dogs dinner. Vegetable choice was poor.

We always come here for food on a Friday . My husband is a very fussy eater who has to have a routine . We ordered our normal meal a smothered chicken it came and to our dismay no salad no coleslaw so just chicken chips and a piece of garlic bread . Very disappointed.

Really enjoyed our meal. Great atmosphere and reasonably priced.

Some staff very unfriendly and not enough at busy times

The food here is generally pretty good, albeit we tend to have the same things each time. If you get a rewards card and there is a deal on you can save quite a bit on food, but the drinks prices are like many other places of this ilk..

Just popped in while passing, nice setting, staff were friendly, registering for car park is a pain , scan barcode etc not working for android, barman had to do it , but overall a decent place to watch the canal and have a beer..

Had a table booked for 6pm on 6th September, had my starter was absolutely fine come to my main,I waited an hour 20minutes for it. Ridiculous, I went up to the counter and all they said was it won’t take too long😂 15 minutes later it arrived. Need more staff behind tills as it’s very slow even when it wasn’t so busy. 😣

Nice spot by the Canal. Food good. PARKING 3 HOURS FREE. service was poor you had to go inside stand in a que to order drinks. Same que as food as you had to go inside and order pay for food in the same way. No table service it's only the food they bring to your table

Was very busy when we arrived and que to order when 10 fold. I later learnt the restaurant had had a large party in and complications arrived which caused the delay. Food was worth the wait thou, both adult and kids' meals were excellent, both in terms of price and quality.

Decor is a bit tired now as been going there for 15 years sine my nephew was young and it hasn't changed.! Can't fault the staff. The food is good with an excellent menu and the drinks selection is good too. All together a cracking pub in a nice location by the side of the Ashby Canal.

Great pub if you're on a budget or have a big family..The food is good and the staff are friendly and go out of their way to help. l also love that they have a play area for the children, keeps them entertained ☺️

Second time at The Marina. Lovely setting, good food, poor service and a shocking parking system!. Firstly, positives. The food was very good. My mixed grill was cooked just right, reasonable portions of everything. Other meals were the steak platter. Again no complaints. Desserts were excellent. Prices were again pretty fair. So....compliments to the chef! Negatives. Generally awful staff. Or to be exact, no management. Staff flicked from one job to another. It was steady but not that busy so no excuses. People were being allowed to order drinks at the food till despite there being dedicated drinks tills (to save time when ordering presumably, but this meant them leaving the till to pour drinks from another area). I waited 10 mins behind 4 people just to order food. My order was done in less than a minute as i just wanted good!. Staff were leaving tills randomly to take other positions. As I said, no sign of any management. Waitress was poor. She seemed to think it was fine to just drop the desserts on the end of the table and not to the individuals. No conversation, no eye contact. No tip! Kids play area noisy but we knew that prior so not necessarily a criticism. Overall a very poorly run environment with good food and a lovely setting. Oh, the parking ticket system didn't work, so a member of staff scribbled the registration number on a note pad! Would we go back. Based on service, which is important when dining out, right?. No we wouldn't.

The location is not the greatest, as its inside an industrial park, but it is next to a canal, so it's better if you can sit outside and watch the boats go by. Food very average, there was a choice between a carvery and from a menu; Those who had the carvery said it was not very good, although portions seemed pretty big, i had sweet potato curry which was nicer, but not that much of it We had some vouchers which massively eased the cost

Had a Family gathering here for my Daughters Birthday, wasn't the best experience and here's my observation, not enough staff, disorganized, not running efficiently, solution for me would be table service not cuing for drinks and food orders, people would drink more and by table service plates and glasses would be took sooner so can be washed, and people could have proper glasses.Overall staff working in stressful situations =mistakes.

Hannah and Stevie are THE best bar tenders .. always have amazing service and banter at the Marina .. your loss if you don't embrace.. I take my team there for a job well done and they always make us feel like family 👪

Unfortunately I was very disappointed. Met up with a friend for breakfast. Staff on arrival couldn't break a smile, even shouted from the bar area and didn't come to where you are asked to wait. We asked if we could have a window seat to look over the canal, she said the system was not working just find yourself a seat. There were no plates several people had asked when they could bring some through, so we stood waiting. Finally got 4 plates still not enough for the people waiting so one of us had to wait longer for a plate. The food was ok but only just warm. I had finished my breakfast before my friend came back with hers. So we didn't eat together. The juice was horrible. The coffee machine was producing warm milk and warnings coming up for something to be cleaned. We asked for help from the staff they were rude, be there in a minute, coffee still wasn't nice. Food on the floor and poor presentation not very appealing. We sat outside full ashtrays on all of the tables, we had a drink from the bar before we left, still very poor customer service. They didn't seem to like being there. We will not be returning, in fact was due to go with other friends and we have changed plans to go somewhere else. I was informing my sister who lives local and she had the same opinion.

Family birthday for granddaughter

Not the usual standard of Premier Inn breakfast. Not the full menu offering, not very well cooked and often luke warm. Would be nice to see black pudding and to be given the choice of eggs as they do at other premier inns.

I bought breakfast. I really only wanted a bacon sandwich, however I ordered a small breakfast because they didn't do a takeout menu. What I did have was of a good standard.

Excellent staff , really friendly. Will definitely call in again when working down this way.
