A very friendly and relaxed atmosphere in Marimba cafe, with excellent service from the most friendly and professional staff. Nothing is too much trouble. Home made cakes and a huge variety of proper coffee and exotic hot chocolates to choose from. The wonderful girls who work in Marimba soon get to know you by name and everybody is made most welcome. I highly recommend!

I have used this cafe a few years ago and it’s nice to see its still going. They do a lot of different cakes Coffee, Chocolate, Scones and the usual pastries. There is no issue asking staff to bring your order to the table. I looked on the menu on the table. It’s either it’s in a different place, but I couldn’t see any sandwiches that kind of thing. I might have looked in the wrong place but I thought it was missing. The chocolate on the top of cappuccinos is real chocolate it is not the usual powder used. Also I’ve had several boxes in the past of their very nice chocolates, now purchased from the cafe and not the separate shop which is now closed. Fully disabled friendly but I’ve forgotten the toilet location. The only thing is the cafe is down on the path to the bus station. It’s worth the additional few minutes. You can easily use Google maps to give you directions.

Delicious hot chocolate although they did not have a gluten free cake or biscuit. Will definitely return for the drink.

Just wanted a small cup of tap water for my thirsty 3 year old daughter. I thought foolishly that there is some decency and kindness still in this would or at least some business oriented gesture of good will. Clearly Not!I was refused a small amount of tap water for a very thirsty baby girl on the cost of a disposable paper cup.would not recommend. will never return.

We called into Marimba for drinks and food while visiting Sudbury and are so pleased that we did. The coffee was smooth and full of taste, and our Jacket Potato with Chill con Carne was cooked to perfection. Being located away from the main shopping area and in a relatively small precinct possibly means that visitors to the area would miss this delightful establishment. If you are in the area and and are not familiar with it, I'd recommend you Google it - you won't be disappointed.

Had a cup of coffee which was great, however my wife magaged to forget her handbag, which was retrieved by the staff and kept for us. They looked after it until our return and wouldn't take any finders fee. What a pleasant change to find such honest people in this day. Highly recommended.

We did not have a meal but went with the sole purpose of buying our vegan son-in-law a birthday present. We spent a long time choosing the chocolates and on more than one occasion we were assured they were all vegan. On presenting same chocolates to him we are disgusted to find they were not vegan! We had felt so elated that we had found something good to give him only to be kicked in the teeth. We returned the chocolates to the shop and were in time given a refund, but the consequences of miss-selling is very dangerous. We now have to try and find an alternative , perhaps have more luck in France at least at the chocolatier there they know what they are selling.

Website was convenient, very easy to use and chocolates very well priced. I received updates as to when the chocolate were dispatched and delivered! Great service . I placed my order yesterday and it has been delivered with a gift card today. Great service, great hand made chocolates! What's not to like?

First and last time. My husband had a scone which when he went to cut it fell into a load of crumbs, he also was given rock hard butter..don't know how he was supposed to butter crumbs! Staff not helpful, when I took it back they could see what a mess it was, but was told this is how our customers like them!! what a laugh. I had soup which was ok, but also given rock hard butter for the bread. So first and last time.

There were eight of us ladies who called into Marimba on Thursday 3rd November. We were on a "bus pass safari" from Braintree and after nearly 2 hours travelling we were desperate for a comfortable place to relax and enjoy our elevenses. We found just the place in the Borehamgate Precinct. Marimba looked so inviting with it's comfortable settees and chairs and we quickly made ourselves at home to indulge ourselves in the wonderful array of goodies. The staff at Marimba were welcoming and chatty and added to the happy atmosphere. Although we only stayed for about half an hour to have a quick snack we noticed that there is a good selection of food available at competitive prices. We will certainly be paying another visit to Marimba next time we visit Sudbury.

Upon visiting this delicious looking chocolate shop I was amazed at how friendly, professional and knowledgable the girl in the shop was. She knew the answer to every question I asked as I was undecided about which products / gifts I should buy. This is a member of staff to be treasured like the chocolate within!!

I have been into this cafe a few times, coffee is good and Sandwich are also. The brunette waitress is always warm and friendly, shame I can't say the same about the blonde girl. She clearly has no customer service skills and comes across as rather rude. A smile at some point wouldn't go amiss either! Grrrrrrr!

The hot chocolate here is to die for, I have honestly never tasted so good. The coffee is also pretty good, as are the toasted sandwiches I usually have. The staff are always pleasant and welcoming. Only downside to this cafe is the rather grotty surroundings (it's within a small and rather run down precinct), if I hadn't been recommended by a friend I would never have come here. It could also do with a bit of stylish and comfortable decor but as a complete chocoholic, I am very happy to have found Marimba!

My wife and I are regulars at Marimba which does some of the best coffee in town. The chocolate is wonderful and moreish but we go for the coffee and cake. The staff are always very friendly and welcoming but it's a shame that it doesn't open on Sundays.

The hot chocolate Marimba have is the best I've ever tried, they can even add ice cream to your cup which makes it even more warming! The best thing is they let you choose what chocolate you want.. milk, white or dark & each one just as good as the next..We liked it so much we were able to purchase the chocolate to take home & make our selfs! Can't wait to go again..

Been once ordered three coffees and three cakes - coffee was standard but cakes were absolutely awful and all 3 were left uneaten a total waste of just over £15 quid. On plus side the Staff quite friendly and polite, decor was nice and comfortable and there is Wifi but did not try it.

I usually pop in for a caramel latte and sometimes a few slices of cake, very friendly service definitely the best coffee shop in Suffolk (every town needs one) and as other reviews say you must go into the shop which is directly opposite with old fashioned sweets and chocolate pretzels and also try the marzipan gelato in the summer months its just Devine!

We've been using Marimba since it first opened and like the other reviewer on here can say nothing but good about the place. We vary our choices between the different hot chocolates and their excellent coffee (the vanilla latte is to die for). Order at the counter and they serve to your table and I always have one of their loyalty cards in my purse. All the staff are friendly and efficient and if that isn't enough to tempt you the chocolate shop is right across the precinct from them.

We have been regulars in Marimba - a coffee shop in Sudbury - since it opened a few years ago. I say "coffee shop" since I guess most people, most of the time order coffee or tea. But Marimba's speciality - and what makes them different from other cafes in the town - is their hot chocolate. It's made by melting a whole bar of your choice of dark, milk or white chocolate into steamed milk and is absolutely the best hot chocolate I've had in the UK. The choice of different bars gives you the chance to choose the cocoa content you want in your drink and you can reduce the calorie count a bit (?) by opting for skimmed milk (my tip: this makes the drink a little less sweet if, like me, you like the chocolate taste but not some of the sweetness). The bonus is that the chocolate is handmade by the family who own Marimba - made in their chocolate shop across the road from the cafe. If you like chocolate that's also a place to visit - a great selection of their own handmade chocolates plus some Belgian imports and old fashioned sweets from jars. We often buy a small box for presents - you can pick which ones you want put in a box. And they have some really unique bars - my favourite is their white choc bar with popping candy running through it.Back to the cafe. They also serve the usual tea cakes, scones and cake etc and have some really nice sandwiches with locally sourced ingredients and dressings and these are, in my opinion, very reasonably priced. They do toasties/paninis also. They have a selection of fruit teas, cold drinks, syrups for flavoured coffees and frappes.A newer line is their home made ice cream, made, so far as I can gather, in Italian style (gelato) and, like their other products, really delicious. The staff are all extremely friendly and helpful - you order and pay at the counter but they bring your drinks etc to your table. They also operate a loyalty card scheme - they stamp a card for you each time you buy a hot drink and with eight stamps you get a free hot drink (and that doesn't have to be a small one!). There are a mixture of comfy sofas and easy chairs and sit-up-at tables and free wifi is available. Marimba is in the Borehamgate Precinct which runs between the bus station in Sudbury and the main shopping street, so it can be easy to miss. Note that, beacuse the precinct is locked up on a Sunday, they are not open that day but are open from (I think) 8.30am to 5.30pm every other day.

Michael and Sheila have gone although the new "lady of the house" is actually Sheilas daughter. I appreciated we are in troubled times with a lot of pubs cutting back but a very limited menu will not impress previous customers, although the fish couldn't have been fresher. A big no is the owners children having the run of the pub, just imagine "grumpy" Michaels comments!!!.

As a pool player for this pub I'm in here most days. What makes this pub the place to be is the character, the charm, the staff who make it such a cosy place to frequent. The food is amazing, my favourite by far is the roast dinners. Massive fan of then. The staff too are friendly and accommodating, even playing pool they come over and talk to you ask you about your day ect, their general attitude is very positive and it makes the experience that much better. I can't imagine going anywhere else. Keep up the great work!
