Marco’s was the best restaurant we ate at in Rye. Food was extremely tasty and unique combinations, cocktails were really unique, service was great, fast, the staff were really nice, the place is beautiful. Must go in Rye.

From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere at this restaurant was simply amazing — warm, welcoming, and beautifully put together. What truly made our visit exceptional were Hettie and Nayla. Their professionalism, friendly demeanor, and attention to detail made us feel truly valued as guests. The food? Absolutely delicious. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared, full of flavor, and beautifully presented. You can tell the kitchen takes real pride in what they serve. If you’re looking for a place that delivers not just great food, but also outstanding service and ambiance, this spot is a must-visit. Huge thanks to Hettie and Nayla for making our evening so special!

Had a great meal here, very tasty and good size portions. Venue itself is welcoming and comfortable, well decorated with paintings all over the walls. Cocktails were excellent. Staff even better- super friendly with lots of smiles. Very attentive for the most. Bit of a wait between starter and main but I like that when out with friends. Good chance to catch up. Cost was approx £90pp with 2/3 courses, 3 drinks each. Would definitely recommend and go back.

We had a wonderful time at Marcos. Our first dinner in Rye and the food was exquisite with my girlfriends. The drinks , food were top notch and better than what I have had in London. The chicken skewers were the best and we ordered second . Amazing

Let's start with the positives : the restaurant is beautifully decorated, staff were genuinely pleased to have you there and the quality of the food was excellent. However, value for money wasn't the best. We shared a starter, two main courses, two sides and a bottle of wine. Total bill was £103 (this did include a discretionary service charge). The portion sizes were on the small size and mains are served on their own with no accompaniments. Bit disappointed to be honest.

Great atmosphere, lovely staff, prompt service, good quality food - so why was I disappointed? £103 for one starter, two main courses, two side dishes and a bottle of wine. I left feeling like I had been mugged frankly, and that is not a good feeling. The portion sizes of the main courses were quite small and my main was literally four small chicken skewers with no accompanying vegetables - you have to pay extra for that. The "icing on the cake" was a 10% service charge added to the bill. Yes, I know I could have asked them to remove it, but why should I be put in that position. It should be up to me to offer it, not for the restaurant to assume I'll pay it. Needless to say I won't be going back to Marco's.

Brilliant food and lovely atmosphere. Meat cooked perfectly and the starters were amazing! Highly recommend the aubergine and lamb chops!

We ordered the falafel gyros tacos and the catch of the day. The gyros tacos were neither gyros (I'm Greek, so I know this for a fact) nor were they tacos (I've been to Mexico, and eaten many). They had 1 falafel broken into pieces in each one and mainly consisted of lettuce leaf and tomato in a cheap mini tortilla wrap. If I'd eaten this as part of a Morrison's meal deal, I'd feel it was overpriced, so to have to pay £17 for this is outrageous. I thought at least there'd be a few falafel in each, and the flatbreads would be homemade at that price, but sadly no. The catch of the day was burnt to a crisp. Parts of it were edible and apparently tasty, but the edges were burnt, as were the capers in the sauce. How anybody can serve up a plate of food like that to a paying customer is unfathomable, let alone charge them £24 for it. And it didn't come with anything, so we had to order sides to make it into a meal. Thankfully the service was good and the mocktail. Our server didn't seem remotely surprised when we complained, which makes me think this must be a regular occurrence. Such a shame, as this was meant to be a special treat for my partner's birthday but ended up being an expensive disappointment, even though they did remove the price of the drinks as a goodwill gesture.

Had a lovely evening at Marco's. The food was excellent (I'll be dreaming about the tenderstem broccoli with tahini and sesame for weeks!) The staff were so friendly, the service was fast but we never felt rushed, and the atmosphere/decor is lovely. All in all a lovely evening, 10/10 would come again.

Turned up to Rye craving pie - this was not meant to be however our food at Marcos was tasty

Very impressed admittedly it was busy as it was the first sunny warm day for what felt like months, on Easter Holidays, Rye's car parks were full but we managed to find space and walked into the main area via Landgate! Plenty of choice in Rye, but we chanced on this place, it was quit to start with as we arrived at 13:30 having spent a morning visit Great Dixter a few miles down the road! We both chose Hummus with Pitta bread for starters, but had to ask for extra Pitta, delicious hummus with a generous drizzle of Greek Peppery olive oil and onion crumbs! I wolfed that down and then we ordered in my case Souvlaki Lamb with Tzaziki and Pitta, and my friend ordered the Lamb Chops, as we were close to the Romney Marsh they were delicious too. Clean plates are always indicative of good food we had tap water in a carafe and two bottles of Peroni beer! Felt full at the end but not over stuffed, Hetty was our server very friendly and efficient (she was I found out 25 weeks in to her pregnancy) due in July! Great relaxed atmosphere views over the medieval chapel, from the rear, on a summers afternoon this will be busy, but well worth it £87 including service!

Such a beautiful restaurant in Rye serving beautiful and bold food packed with flavour! We came here for a hens weekend and had the best time! They gave us the best seat in the house which was a beautiful circle table by the window overlooking the monastery. Once the sun set, the fairy lights came on outside and it became even more magical. This was such a beautiful dining experience, I couldn’t recommend Marcos more! Book a table and thank me later xx

I had trepidations about eating at Marco‘s initially, mainly because I thought it was a typical Greek food joint serving kebabs and they’re like. I couldn’t have been so wrong! We were greeted incredibly warmly the minute we walked through the door amazing friendly staff welcome Reception seated to a delightful table where we had a full view of the room. We were offered drinks given menus and great recommendations are made by a wonderful server. The food arrive prompting, incredibly tasty. We went for the small plates where we had peppers, corn ribs, Tiki, chicken. Not forgetting the tender stem broccoli as well. The food was absolutely amazing: the corn ribs I had never tasted anything as delicious before. As for the decor very interesting! You need to see it to believe it although I hope some of our pictures will demonstrate. The chef in his team are hosted downstairs his name is Marco and they are incredibly friendly. Definitely recommend this place which is affordable, great food, great atmosphere and of a good place to visit.

This was such a pleasant surprise. From the outside this restaurant doesn't stand out at all and would be easy to walk past. But when you go in you enter one of the most lovely restaurants I've ever been too. Beautifully decorated, which creates a wonderful atmosphere. The staff were brilliant, everyone was friendly, efficient and helpful. And last, by not least, the food and cocktails were delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Absolutely amazing!!! We visited Rye from Eastbourne and came across Marcos for dinner. Immediately we were met by a friendly, welcoming server who directed us to a table in the conservatory with a great view of the monastery all lit up! We had all three courses and could not of been happier, delicious flavours and great portions too! Will be recommending to everyone! Thankyou ☺️

I’m from Hastings and come to rye often and I can’t believe I’ve never tried this absolute gem of a restaurant! Amazing food, amazing service, and incredibly aesthetically pleasing space, with the most beautiful view of the old monastery! Extremely impressed, will definitely be returning❤️

Unfortunately, our family visit to this establishment was nothing short of the worst meal ever experienced when dining out. What should have been a meal to remember for the right reasons was the polar opposite. The whole experience from service to kitchen was sub-par. Our table was booked for 6 pm. We were asked for our drink selection 25 min after we were seated. We were not asked again, so no second drinks. Once ordered the starters took over 1 hour to arrive at the table. Having finished our starters the main courses arrived another 55min later. Only two out of five mains were presentable as meals. Lamb cutlets should come with a medallion of meat. These were not lamb cutlets they looked like something you would serve your dog. At no time were we asked if our meals were ok by the staff. For the price of £170.00 Marco's is simply not worth a visit. MY ADVICE IS TO BOOK ELSEWHERE - OR GET A KEBAB- At least it will be edible.

Thoroughly enjoyed eating here. We were a small pre wedding family get together group. Pre booked, nice atmosphere, great food, attention when you needed it (peripheral vision, something that I find a lot of catering staff/management don't excersise). Recommended.

Lovely accommodating staff especially Hetty. We didn't feel rushed even though it was quite a late booking. Sit by the view of the Monastery if available.

This place won an award on TripAdvisor, but I have no idea why... Ambience 2/5; food - bland tortellini in a sweet sauce, very average sea bass.

Brilliant as always! Highly recommend the humous with pulled beef as a starter. The tortellini and seafood gnocci were both delicious too! Must try the orange wine🍊 and the cheesecake was delicious! Very friendly staff and lovely atmosphere… will be back again!

Food was good as was the service. Atmosphere is interesting the best tables overlooking the old monastery (not as picturesque as it may sound). Don't be put off by the outside appearance which is quite dark and some people mistake it for being closed. Recommended.

I came for a few days to Rye, Im staying at The George In Rye .I came to dine alone.The host was so not nice and told me id at least be waiting 30 minutes for my food. I was initially joking saying Ill order a salad first. She is like even salads. The place had only 4 tables with people and was otherwise empty. She said sorry they all came st the same time. I thought in my head isnt this what restaurants are like. People show up to dinner in the evening?? also she pointed to the worse corner table in the place saying okay u want to sit here, its the only available table. She either didnt like me or didnt like that I was dining alone. People working in a restaurant should be welcoming and friendly , not arrogant and unfriendly. I walked out. She was really not nice. I think in all fairness she is probably a good person, She just has the wrong job:)

I cannot recommend this place enough. If I could give 6 stars I would! The food, ambiance and service were simply exceptional. We need a Marco's cookbook! We'll be dreaming about the beef brisket, the honeyed halloumi, seafood gnocchi and lamb gyros! Our waitress had the most wonderful energy about her, she was everything you'd want and more in a host. The restaurant also sung my husband happy birthday which was so lovely. We sat on what was almost like a balcony, which was just amazing too! Highly recommend and we'll come back to Rye just to visit Marcos.

The food quality is great, the service is good with a nice atmosphere, unfortunately we did find it very pricey for the amount of food you received so I don't think we will be returning.

A beautiful open space, amazing food inspired by Greece (I wouldn't say it's very authentic but is delicious) and the cheesecake especially is amazing! Everything was great, just would have wished the greek salad was bigger for the price. Overall had an amazing time and would come again!

Basically you don’t get good quality food in this restaurant. They had everything from tacos to halloumi but rather than fusion, they were CONFUSION! Everything was sour and tasteless. Do not waste your money here.

My partner and I enjoyed a lovely dinner here. The starters, desserts and drinks were delicious, I highly recommend the basque cheesecake and the Basil Smash cocktail! The service was second to none, our waitresses were attentive and helpful, they even gave us some recommendations for bars to go to after we’d finished our meal. Disappointingly, the only thing that let Marco’s down were the mains. The seafood gnocchi had little to no seasoning in the tomato sauce, and my partner’s chicken burger was really underwhelming. It’s was a shame, as you couldn’t fault the rest of the food, service and atmosphere. Overall we did have a lovely evening.

I recently had the misfortune of dining at Maroc's Mediterranean and I must say, it was a thoroughly disappointing experience from start to finish. Not only was the service abysmal, but the manner in which they handled our reservation left a sour taste in my mouth. To add insult to injury, we were shocked to see a £40 charge for a supposed "no-show” When we attempted to address this discrepancy with the management, we were met with nothing short of rudeness and dismissiveness. Overall, my experience at Maroc's Mediterranean was nothing short of a disaster and I have still not had a phone call back to amend the £40 no show charge! From the appalling service to the unjust charges and the complete lack of communication, I would strongly advise against going to this establishment. Save yourself the headache and dine elsewhere.

Do yourself a favour and eat here when in Rye. Staff and service were excellent - friendly relaxed but attentive. Atmosphere and setting is spot on too. The menu, whilst not extensive, is really clever and the quality of the food is excellent. Add the fact that it is reasonably priced and you won't be disappointed. If we lived closer we'd be there regularly!

The restaurant is nice and the food is OK. The pricing confuses me. I ordered Greek meatballs (£16) and when placed in front of me there were only 4 on the plate - they looked smaller than Ikea meatballs. No rice accompaniment or anything. Then there was no bread to accompany the Tzatziki (or meatballs). One extra piece of pitta was £3. Just seems a bit steep. When I asked about the price, the waiter explained supplier prices had gone up, but 4 small meetballs for £16 ? I don't think either of us believed the explanation.

While the restaurant itself is undeniably beautiful, and we received exceptional service, with our waiter, Marco, being quite attentive, unfortunately, the food left a lot to be desired. The prices here are quite steep for what can only be described as very basic and poor-quality fare, especially the meat dishes which lacked flavor. Furthermore, it was a bit frustrating that when we were asked if we wanted water, we were simply brought bottled water and charged for it. Had the waiter clarified whether we preferred still or sparkling, we would have opted for tap water. This felt like an attempt to squeeze more money out of us, especially given that the restaurant wasn't particularly busy.

This restaurant is incredibly disappointing. Not only do they miss the mark on equity by refusing to serve children under 10, but their policy is not clearly displayed on the booking page and is very easy to miss. They charge you £20 per person as a 'no-show' fee if you turn up with children under 10, despite their own discriminatory policy.

Booking a table at this restaurant turned out to be a nightmare. Their booking and cancellation policy feels more like spam than customer service. Avoid.

The second time I went here. And the second because the first time, in beginning of August, was Good. But now very desapointed, they said they change the menu some weeks ago to Tapas, they really know what it's Tapas? Well fourtunely I know and it's not what they are doing. They serve most of the previous plates they had in August but now in small portions. Tapas it's not that. Also the prices now are incredible expensive to what they served. Well it's a shame. Never comeback. I don't recommend at all.

Absolutely terrible customer service. You never get through as they don’t pick up phone. So you can only message and they respond when they please. I have no idea about food as they refused us service when we were there very early dinner when restaurant was empty but they insisted on no kids at dinner (no other customers at 6pm!!) and then they charged me £200 deposit for table despite them refusing us service. It’s just dishonest horrible bunch of people. Definitely to avoid.

I can't believe it took me so long to go here. Definitely one of the best restaurants in Rye... and there are a lot of amazing restaurants there. Will definitely be returning.

On the last day of our journey in the South of England we visited Marco’s restaurant in Rye. What a great experience! Very nice small plates prepared with passion. Excellent taste. Very nice atmosphere and friendly personal. We hope to come back here someday.

We were walk-ins and had a very warm and professional greeting and a table was sorted for the two of us with no fuss. The ambiance and vibe is sophisticated 1960-70s with an eye for fine detail and styling. Very comfortable seating and a warm atmosphere with gentle Cypriot music playing in the background. We went with the house red which was excellent quality. Ordered authentic pita bread and hummus to share and this was just right in quantity and spot on for flavour. The mains were belly pork and lamb cutlets; each dish was well cooked and utterly delicious. We supplemented this with a bowl of delicious fries between us. The puddings were also delicious: baklava with vanilla ice cream and a tiramisú. The service was just right, comfortingly reassuring and utterly attentive without being in your face. The quality is superb and this restaurant will not disappoint. Well done! ευχαριστώ

I can only imagine you’re referring to the fact my son had just a bowl of chips as you were unable to cook him a plain chicken breast, which we had no problem with. We did check the menu beforehand and were already prepared in case there was nothing he wanted. Like we said when you accused us of complaining purely because of this, we’re really not that petty. Reviewed purely on the food and food alone. Maybe accepting the truth would be easier.. and yes very sad that McDonald’s would have been a better culinary experience. ******************** We decided to go to this restaurant upon looking at reviews. This place is over priced for what you would expect. The halloumi starter which was priced at £7.90 is actually one slice of cheese and not the best cooked. However the crab and prawn starter was lovely. The lamb cutlets are thin and was also over cooked. To be fair they were replaced and cooked properly but still very bland. Best thing about the dish was the whipped goats cheese but meat had no taste or good quality.. The chorizo and scallop dish was absolutely not up to standard. Ordered the broccoli, green beans and pea side dish which was also small, bland and overcooked. Finally after asking for the manager only upon request, the Owner did take money off of our bill but seemed disinterested in our complaints and was as more interested in taking our money than our concerns. Would no way be returning. If you’re in rye, definitely recommend going to diamond koz, which has a much better quality of service and meal which fed all the family for much cheaper price.

Great front of house and waitress services. Lovely summer evening to be sat next to the opened balcony. Quality of food was also excellent albeit the portion was a little.on the small side and we were not asked about sides which we needed. All in all a very enjoyable evening.

Went out when visiting Rye with my wife for a lovely meal, the chorizo starter was lovely, the beef brisket my wife had was tender and moreish. My wife had a lemon pasta which she said was lovely (don’t like Lemon Pasta myself) and I had the Chicken Gyro which was top notch. Our only comment was our puddings we’re too big and of course we had to eat it all!!!!

Booked online but were late due to our bus not turning up. We were greeted with a friendly and reassuring face :) A great start which only got better. Food and drinks were perfect and as the restaurant got busier the 2 staff kept up a fantastic rapport with customers even though they could have done with an extra person on. It was my 40th birthday and I wouldn't have wanted to spend it anywhere else. Thank you very much.

We visited this lovely spot during noon. At first it looked closed, but we're so glad we tried the door because the tables are in the back! We were heartily welcomed and within 5 minutes of ordering our food was already delivered. Great service, great food. Can recommend all around.
