Marconato in Broxbourne

This restaurant was really amazing. It’s a shame not busy - food was amazing and they respectfully listened when I said I was on diet and they did a lovely roast salmon with salad. My daughter nearly licked her spaghetti plate clean. Just perfect!! Thanks

Mussel were 1/2 shell frozen type over cooked and chewy Prawn cocktail small frozen ones on a bed of crunchy salad like a dry coleslaw. The so called John Dory was swimming in a garlic butter and was so overcooked could have been any fish with a plateful of chips and the crunchy salad again. One mouthful of the Fish was enough. Lamb chops were ok

If you want to wait 2 hours and 20 minutes for your dinner then this is the place for you. Booked for 8pm and had our mains served at 10.30pm. Waiters brusque and rude. The food was good when finally got it, but very very salty. Probably so you will buy more drinks. Never ever again

Went to a tribute act night which was up a flight of stairs. Room was medium size. Very noisy room lots of celebrations going on. Act was good come on at 9.45pm. Food was okay main I had spaghetti bonanesse it was made with pork and beef mince I didn't like it at all. Served with chicken scallop it was so over cooked. Big let down 3 course for 38.00.

Utterly disappointed with the diabolical experience we had tonight at Marcanotos. Table for 2 we ordered the Salmon Ravioli, Chicken Pesto Pasta and a side of chips. Received the mains to discover underwhelming portions sizes with only 6 pieces of ravioli in the bowl and half were left empty and unfilled. Could still see the bottom of my bowl before I began eating. The Pesto Pasta was a lunch time portion size with a disgusting amount of cheese on top. No checkbacks were made from our waiter, which prompted me to go up to the bar to order an additional dish for me and my partner to share as we were left hungry. We asked for the bill but were ignored by another waiter, our waiter left us with a cluttered table of finished plates that he chose to ignore untill we asked him for the bill. When he brought the bill over, we asked him to remove the service charge as we were disappointed with our experience, to which he narrowed his eyebrows and asked "why" after explaining we were not happy with our experience he refused to take off the service so my partner questioned it as service charge is optional, to which he bluntly replied "we did not have a choice, service was not optional and has to be paid". Would not recommend this restaurant due to serious lack of service and disappointing food, we used to be regulars but won't be returning, will be informing friends,family and colleagues of our appalling evening at Marcanotos!!

Amazing night for my daughter’s 18th! We had a mixture of family and friends of all ages and it was a perfect evening. Arrived a little early to decorate the table and put balloons up, staff were lovely and very helpful. Food was great, service fantastic would definitely recommend. Booked club classic disco night and had a brilliant surprise of the singer Stacey Lee. Will definitely book again! Thank you for making my daughters birthday a day to remember xx

Well my first time buying food from this restaurant. And it will be the last..I ordered a lasagne.And what I got looks like soup lasagne ..Usual scenario didn't check it as it was a takeaway..

I attended on Saturday night for the 80s night with work colleagues which also doubled a retirement dinner. The food was amazing, portion size was great for the price, we were stuffed. The entertainment and atmosphere was great. The waiters couldn't do enough to ensure the wine was topped up and the atmosphere lively. The entertainment was classic 80s hit after hit after hit.. A great night We are planning to come again.

Went last Sunday. Steak was wafer thin. Chicken was square? Everyone was ill within a few hours. Paid £178 for 5. Very expensive frozen food. Years ago it was great. Now it's awful. Won't be going back. Most of my friends also no longer go here and I know why. Such a shame

Had a fantastic night last Saturday! It was packed so everyone up dancing across the place! Was there for a birthday party. A night of Mamma Mia the musical. All the songs from the original show, plus one of the performers who had been in the show taught us all some dance moves from it which was a highlight. Had an hour of that then an hour of party music with a bit of ABBA mixed in. Food was great, service was lovely and really good value for money!

Entertainment was meant to be ABBA first half an hour with ABBA then they had a break and after that it was just a mixture of music. Very disappointed

Brilliant place for entertainment service and value for money well worth visiting

Part of a party of 17 last night for a 65th birthday. Although the place was rammed (we were in the party room upstairs with maybe 4 or 5 other big parties and a few couples, the service was fast and efficient. Anytime our sever passed we could throw a drinks order at him. Never waited more than 2 mins for a drink. Food was delicious. Definitely worth more than 5 stars. Thank You!

Such a shame! First, the staff were brilliant. Lovely warm atmosphere inside the restaurant as well. But the food….whilst the menu read impressively, the food was like something out of the 1990s. It wasn’t good. I had a crab linguine. This dish is not meant to have cream. Yet it was the heaviest, thickest, creamiest dish I had ever eaten. This was not good Italian food. This was not a crab linguine. Where was the crab? My wife had a prawn cocktail to start. Ok, sure, it’s a classic, but it was just smothered in marie rosé sauce. It wasn’t not good. My wife had the pesto fusilli for main, but it was not fresh pesto (or didn’t seem like it - shop bought), and was just smothered with heavy cheese. Such a shame - but this is not Italian cooking. It is some form of bastardised western Italian cooking for “the English”. But the service was impeccable, and the staff were absolutely brilliant. We simply can’t go there again for dinner as it was such a significant disappointment.

Had an excellent meal, after not visiting here for at least over a decade. Had a delicious prawn risotto, and company had a vegetarian gluten-free pizza - might be the only gluten-free pizza I've ever tasted and enjoyed! Staff are really friendly, and service is super fast. The decor is a tad dated, but it has a timeless warmth to it. Definitely want to go back.

Amazing night! We went at Marconatos for food and entertainment. Everything was so amazing!! There were 20 of us in a table and we all were so impressed how fast and great the service was, food as always was so tasty and delicious. Music and atmosphere was brilliant! Can’t wait to go back!

Starter was OK but it all went downhill after that. Breaded chicken in a near perfect rectangle the size of the plate is clearly not fresh. Lasagne didn't even come with a side salad/ garlic bread or chips. Ask for parmesan and it will be given to you in a McDonald’s paper ketchup pot, out of keeping to serve alongside a main meal costing more than £18. Pudding of chocolate fudge cake was definitely not fresh or home made, very rubbery consistency and poor flavour. Party upstairs meant downstairs was freezing cold with a constant draft as party people were constantly going in and out to smoke every few minutes. Overall i felt this was a complete let down and overpriced for the quality. Shame but we won’t return, no wonder we had no trouble booking when everywhere else was booked up.

Fantastic service. The favourite part about this Resturant is the food. Really great. Staff are very friendly too. Overall 10/10. My family really had an amazing time. I recommend going there.

The food was poor quality the steak was not seasoned with even salt salad was cheap bag salad the presentation was like a kid had served it . I was hoping the next dish would be better but every dish was just as bad. Service was nice staff polite and venue also nice the food quality really lets this restaurant down such a shame

Will never be coming back to this restaurant ever again. The waiter was rude. We received the bill and at the bottom of the bill a hand written tip in biro was added of £23, we paid the £13 tip and was told that we are short of the bill and had to pay the remainder of the service charge. Absolutely joke, you do not need to pay service charge regardless.

Really good service, the food was excellent will definitely visit again soon! The menu choice was really good with lots of variety.

Went on Friday, to see a singer the noise before the act was deafening unruly kids running about everywhere, teenagers vaping up by the singer not being removed ,awful

Went here for my 30th celebration with my family. There were 18 of us 3 course set menu drinks and entertainment all worked out at £60 each, which i think is very reasonable and value for money. Staff are good not pushing drinks and just let you enjoy yourself.

A group of 9 of us went for a surprise 40th birthday dinner, what a nice and well presented set menu, delicious we were all very happy with food, staff was very friendly and the two girls singing were amazing, this was my second time there and didn’t disappointed us. We will planing another evening soon. Thank you all well done.

Went to a party night upstairs at Marcanato and it was brilliant....... staff was super friendly and attentive........food was tasty ......entertainment (80's Madness) 1st class....... great evening, highly recommend!

I have been here before and previously enjoyed but this time round was very unimpressed. I asked for a child’s menu for my 5 year old son and was told they didn’t have a child’s menu but that he could have anything on the menu for half price. However, when the bill came his food was adult price (more expensive than both adult meals) and when I tried to raise this politely I was basically told “no I ordered an adult meal for my 5 year old and would only take £1 off”. I was shocked and disgusted to be honest, because they refused to recognise that they were at fault and do the right thing. So I ended up having to pay full price for a meal that my child didn’t even enjoy as the broccoli was coated in garlic and pepper and the chicken was dry and hard to chew. I was also not impressed with the overall service, 4 waiters just standing around talking and not paying attention to providing a service to their customers… very disappointed… especially when you don’t get to out much because everything is so much more expensive these days. Well I can certainly say I will not be going back there.

I went for dinner with a friend and her son. She asked for a childs menu and was told by the waiter all children's meals are charged at half price. She ordered her 5 year old son chicken chips and broccoli. The broccoli was coated in so much garlic and pepper he was unable to eat. When we came to pay, the childs meal cost more than our adults meals which included a bottle of wine. When this was raised with the staff they argued that she hadn't specified it was to be a childs meal and only knocked £1 off of the price. So an uneatable childs meal cost £18+, Needless to say, they have lost some customers as they showed no interest in honouring their word and standing by what they had said regarding children's meals. The atmosphere was also quite uncomfortable as the staff were stood around chatting to each other rather than attending to their customers.

Just okay. Carbonara is a pretty basic dish, and to add too much salt, or use overly salted bacon to destroy it is a real shame. Appetizers good, price reasonable. Like most Italian restaurants really loud due to tile, and all hard surfaces. Service okay. Not as happy and engaging as you normally get at Italian restaurants.

Great staff, couldn't have offered a better service, nice food. We were seated for dinner by 7.30pm and the entertainment didn't start until after 9pm. Just be aware that if you book for a themed evening you will only get about an hour of 'themed' tunes. They then move on to really dated music..... grease medley, macarena etc. not my scene! I spoke to the manager and explained we had only booked that eve as it was the Mamma Mia special. He was very dismissive saying the restaurant had been running for 25yrs without any complaints. All very dated, needs a fresh look in the restaurant and the acts. Won't be rushing back!

Here for a 16th birthday, act (lionel ritchie and Whitney) was entertaining we danced a lot. Food was fresh and whilst a set menu there was plenty of choice for us all. Portions are a good size and drinks reasonable. Only downside is that the loos are downstairs whiich made it hard for more elderly in our party but this should not detract from all the other positives. We will be going back again very soon!

The food and service were both very good and the atmosphere in the restaurant was great. I'd definitely eat here again.

We went for my mum’s 81st birthday and what a lovely family meal we had. Catered well for the two children with us too. A lovely meal and wonderful service I would be happy to recommend a Sunday afternoon at around 4pm for a family dinner

Fantastic evening celebrating a 60th birthday. Robbie Williams tribute act was brilliant.

Went for the first time and was pleasantly surprised by the pizzas (Florentina especially). The older gent was nice but I requested the bill from the younger chap and noted an a 10% service manually written on the bill. I requested to pay the initial amount (as the service was not tip worthy) and this waiter made a big issue out of it and belittled me loudly saying "everyone else pays it", "well done, you saved £2". I had to repeatedly explain that a tip is optional and earned. Most would simply accept that but he continued to deepen his rudeness. So, over £2, this failure of a waiter just lost any repeat business from me! Never feel pressured into paying the OPTIONAL tip.

Good food, reasonably priced. Excellent selection of vegetarian dishes. Went on a quiet night so can't comment on the nights they have entertainment.

DO NOT go here if you have any source of intolerance. They do not give you a separate menu, only tell you they can’t do anything for the intolerance you have. I ended up having to look through the 3 page menu to see what did and didn’t include what ingredient. When asked if we could go to a local supermarket and bring something that was suitable to go in the meal as a replacement they turned their noses up and said no. They were the most unhelpful waiters I’ve ever witnessed. They do not want to help anyone with an intolerance apart from gluten or vegetarian. For a restaurant that used to my a favourite I’m appalled at the way things were handled and I actually had a waiter respond rudely to me when querying why the menu isn’t catering for intolerances. If you have any form of intolerance to anything, go somewhere else. They do not seem to be bothered about catering for those who simply cannot have something.

First time at marconato .The main meal sirloin steak which three of us had was very fatty and all three of us had the same problem. The dessert was good tiramisu

My friends and I came for one of the themed nights, which was the American divas one. When we walked in we really wasn’t sure what to expect as the restaurant you walk through downstairs seemed quiet and no vibes, but we was taking upstairs and from the moment we sat down the waiters were all super friendly, helpful and made the experience super enjoyable as they made an effort to have a laugh and a joke with our table. The food was all amazing and HUUUUGE portions, but they also packed it up for us to bring home in doggy-bags! After the food we had the live music, she was great although came out an hour late so our only critique was that it would’ve been nicer for her to start earlier than 10pm had she been on time! Overall it was a fantastic experience and we will definitely all be back! Thank you so much!

Not a good experience, I ordered a chicken based dish. It looked like a slice of corned beef, but was I think ? A slice of battered chicken 🐔. It was tough and tasteless . And it wasn't especially cheap . Left still feeling hungry

I ordered for my family asked for a Caesar salad without Chicken and Salmon with it instead They charged me for a full price chicken Caesar salad (bearing in mind it’s lettuce only)13 quid plus 12 quid on top for the Salmon. I think this is an insult really

The food was fantastic, the service was poor, so slow we thought we'd been forgotten about. They bought out Red Bull in a can which had £1.45 as the price in the can but tried to charge us £3.80 for it! We argued and got it knocked down to the price shown. Atmosphere was OK, but considering it was a 'party night', it wasn't as electric as it maybe could've been.

I love Marconato for their Pollo Salad- simply the best meal ever- their food menu is so big and diverse which makes it stand apart from other Italian restaurants. They also provide great entertainment so all in all always a great night out!

So this was our second visit as a family and sad to say we were disappointed with the poor service and below par food. There are many restaurant options in Hoddesdon including Italian and don’t think we will be back here. Took 40 mins to take our order and 1 hr 35 to receive main courses (6 of us). My pollo alla créma was not very warm and my daughters spinach and ricotta ravioli was utterly tasteless - flour and milk sauce, zero flavour! The restaurant was so noisy we couldn’t really chat to each other and altogether was a disappointing meal. I think this restaurant has become complacent and reliant on tribute act night and large group celebrations. Will spend my £200 elsewhere next time!

Was seated upstairs for a set menu themed night. £33 for set menu which is a good price, food was nice but nothing amazing. There was so many groups of people crammed in there that we couldn't hear the person sitting next to us and we had to shout across the tables to have a conversation, as to which we couldn't. I've left the resturant with a sore throat due to trying to shout. We waited 45 minutes to an hour inbetween courses. The waiters were lovely however trying to serve us our food and drinks was hard because they couldn't get past the tables well because the tables of large groups are placed right next to each other. The singers & music came on about 10pm and they were really good. Was a good atmosphere once they started but just way too crowded, I felt clostrophobic. I wouldn't come back to Marcanatos.
