Quality and service is always 10/10. This is our go to turkish restaurant as a family as the food is always on point. The prawns are AMAZING literally can’t get enough. Special mention to management and staff for their friendly and welcoming attitude.

We ordered a delivery last night I previously called to ask if the prawns had the head and tails on the gentleman replied no just the prawn . So for my main I ordered saucy king prawns. When they arrived they had the shell & tail on. So my partner phoned the restaurant to explain. The member of staff said the menu said prawn de shelled means shell on. We was offered a sea food stew instead but thinking about it I did not want a stew with prawn with shell and tails on and fish with bones in so we called back and explained we did not want the stew we wanted our money , the reply was you can come and get your f__king money back. I then called to ask for a refund there was a lot of shouting and swearing . I was told we are racist and they was going to call the police I wish they had they could be done for robbery 2 starters 2 mains and two salads and one side £78.00 they could be done for robbery and fraud for the menu explanation of prawns being de shelled meaning prawns with shell on. It is such a sham it ended the way it did. There is a lot more Turkish restaurant in Cheshunt.

As we are in lockdown my partner and myself decided to order a delivery from Shish Kitchen as we both love Turkish food.My partner suffered a stroke last year and is paralysed on her left side. She called Shish Kitchen a couple of days before to confirm that the ‘Saucy King Prawn” dish which in the menu states is “Shelled” did actually have no shell, head or tail. As she is physically unable to peel them herself. The person on the phone at Shish Kitchen confirmed that this dish came with no shell, head or tail.We paid £78.00 for this take away, I had the mixed grill (see pic). This cost £20! I did not even try it, it looked pathetic. My partners “shelled” prawn dish arrived with shells and tails. I am allergic to prawns so I can’t even touch them to shell them for her and she is paralysed so is unable to do this herself, hence the phone call before we ordered to confirm no heads, tails or shells. When I called to complain we were offered a prawn casserole which at first I accepted. My partner did not want this so I called back to cancel this and request a refund.I did check the dictionary before I called back to check the definition of “shelled” as the staff claimed that shelled meant that they were still in the shell, pity the staff had not done this previously. When I did call to cancel the casserole and to comment on the very poor value for money the manager started swearing at me and calling me a racist! ( I am mixed race!)He shouted at me that if I wanted a refund I will have to “come and f__king get it”.My partner called back afterwards to try a cool the situation down but she could hear in the background the manager shouting “ he can f__k off if he wants a f__king refund”.Please Do Not Order From Shish Kitchen, it’s very poor value for money, the food is not good and the staff are incredibly rude and aggressive.I wish I could score this awful place lower but unfortunately you can’t on Trip Advisor

Came here on Wednesday evening... Only live 5 minutes away and have always meant to try here. Staff re Covid etc were very good and all on the ball. Place wasn’t full at all but enough people on here to make a nice atmosphere. We had a hot sharing starter which was very delicious.. I had a mixed so lamb and chicken shish which again was delicious.. Hubby had the Kleftico which he didn’t really like the way it was presented ... tasted lovely but said the sauce it came with just looked like slop .. The only gripe was the efes beer... At nearly £6 a pint ... Is that really a pint you get?! Like a 3/4 glass! Staff were lovely and a lovely decor! Do recommend

This little hidden gem under a Travel Lodge hotel is beautiful. Upon arrival, exterior may seem a little deceiving however once you walk through the doors it really is a gorgeous restaurant. Initial customer service is on point, you have to sign in your car registration number to register using its car park (which is a bonus) and happy staff will soon escort you to your table. The decor is beautiful, its a little cliche in its design with the huge blossom tree on show and dark oak furnishing with soft blue sofa chairs, but it is so welcoming. You truly do get the feeling of being in Central London. Customer service as mentioned before is professional and very well mannered. There was the occasional times we had to repeat asking for something but that was expectant on a busy night. The food was pleasant and tasty, I will highly recommend the lamb shish which was so succulent and flavoursome. It is served with salad and rice and whilst I don't usually like rice this rice was particularly tasty and very buttery. Served at £16 this can easily feed two to three children, as we bought two plates and were unable to finish. I personally didn't enjoy my prawn starter, only because I like the usual recipe of garlic, butter and chilli, whereas this version tasted more like a prawn fajita. I looked forward to the rice pudding however this ran out on my day and so we ordered the baklava and sticky toffee pudding. Again, nothing blew me away and trying not too be too harsh the pudding tasted a little to ordinary for my liking. Overall, I would definitely come here again. The atmosphere was superb, the staff were attentive and the prices were not bad at all. With a little live music on the weekend, this will definitely be somewhere people will need to book ahead of time for.

Starting one night in the Travelodge so this right next door is perfect.Phoned and booked a table for a Friday night and the staff were excellent on the phone.Arrived and signed in on register, seems fairly good Corvid controls.Staff super friendly and efficient. (It was fairly quiet, so it might be different in extremely busy times).Bread and dips brought to table after ordering (a nice touch), try not to eat too much as it is very moorish. We had two mains which were outstanding in presentation.Mains are fairly large (adana kofte and chicken a la creme). Both were delicious. Salad and rice with meals fab.Too full for desserts.I'm not a fan of rice, but this was the best rice I've ever had out at a restaurant, and I've eaten a lot of rice dishes in Japan when working there for two months. All staff were great, all happy and with a smile (as best as can be seen under a mask). We will definitely be going back when area.

Second time visiting for a birthday celebration. Can't fault the decor - more modern than usual Turkish eateries however that's where the compliments end. We tend to order the platters which come with a tiny bowl of rice enough to feed a child. This is an unaacptable amount for a platter which has enough meat for 4 or 5 people. Obviously they are hoping you order more rice. This time visiting my starter was removed before I had finished to which the waitress said in a rude tone " Oh your main course is coming now". I had to bite my lip and she did apologise. A half full bottle of coke was also taken away and when I said I still wanted it, another waitress looked at me like daggers. They were both very rude and interestingly didn't seem to know it. They spoke too casually for my liking and need to be told how to be polite. The male waiter was much better. Sadly for all the swish decor and music nights, I will not be visiting again and will not recommend to anyone. I can have better customer service and more food in any local Turkish restaurant.

Firstly, I would like to say that this is one of a few restaurants that I really like. The service is generally quite good and tend to be served in a timely fashion on most occasions. So far I can say that the meat selection is always and has been on point at this restaurant. The meat is always succulent and divine tasting. They never fail me no matter which day of the week I go the meat is cooked to perfection! We tend to get Lahmacun for starters – this always tastes good but at times the dough can be slightly crispy and burnt making it less enjoyable. Slowly transitioning from being a Vegan to a Vegetarian I thought I would go for a Seafood Dish the Saturday evening. If I am totally honest my meal did not meet my expectations at all. The food came out later then the others that had ordered at the table - the fish was cremated to the point I felt I was eating coal! I guess this was due to the high demand in the restaurant at the time that they tried to serve up asap. I personally would have been happier waiting for my food to be cooked properly to an edible standard then to have been eating burnt fish. But nevertheless I discussed my concerns with the waitress and she did her upmost to make me happy. She reassured me that if I ever wanted to eat fish there again, that the same thing would not occur. Which I thought was very sweet of her. I got served some deserts on the house too. I appreciate her kindness and service and will definitely be visiting again and many more times.Lastly, I would like to say a few words about the singer Saturday night. Personally I didn't think it was a good form of entertainment. Too loud and overpowering when trying to communicate at the table. It was an unpleasant experience. We were eager for the music to finish. It certainly did not do anything for me. Perhaps some background music will do for next time. Thank you for your hospitality. Much appreciated! And I look forward to visiting in due course.!

I last visited this place in 2018 and thought it was fantastic - one of the best Turkish restaurants I had been to and well worth travelling to, as it’s quite out of the way. Visited last night with friends, however, and things have certainly changed and not for the better! Things started to wrong as the complimentary bread and dips arrived. That generosity that Turkish restaurants are known for was nowhere to be seen as the dip bowls were barely a quarter full and we were offered a basket containing 5 pieces of bread for 5 people. How pathetic! Complimentary salads was nowhere to be seen. Then when my main arrived it was just vile. I ordered a lamb shish - simple food which is hard to get wrong, right?! The meat on this shish, however, was just disgusting. It has a strange grisly, spongy texture and a grey hue and certainly did not taste like proper charcoaled meat. Absolutely disgusting. Furthermore, the service was shocking. When we arrived the restaurant was hardly busy (and now I can see why!), yet Everything from ordering drinks to, to receiving our food, to get the bill took such a long time. The only good thing to come of this dinner was that my friends and I all had a good laugh about how appalling the whole experience was and the various toilet troubles we would doubtless have a after eating at such an awful place.

Prices have increased and portions are smaller. The decor has been improved but clearly we are paying for it.I asked to change the rice for chips which I usually do only to be told I can’t do this and have to order chips as a side dish! In the last 3 months prices have gone up A pint costs £5.75 and a small wine £6.25. A standard chicken shish now costs £14.50 . They are charging top prices for basic barbecue food, and the pictures on their website are not a true reflection of what you get !

Have visited on numerous occasions and been thrilled with the food and service.BUT, since the refurb and new owners.Oh dear.Where to begin? Booked in advance for a farewell meal. Had to pay in cash £5 per head at least 3 days ahead. Never had to do this anywhere. But to have to take cash. Not even debit card. The staff were border line curt.As if we were an interruption to their day rather than the reason for their job.Despite plenty of available space complfined when extra guests arrived.Who were buying food and drink!Baring in mind this is a restaurant that doesn't have to be booked. The portions can only be described as mean.Previously, a mixed grill had both lamb and pork chops, sausage, 3 different shish. Bulga, rice and a large salad £9.95Now, mixed grill consists of... 1 chicken & 1 lamb Shish (4 pieces of meat on each skewer)with a small portion of rice and a sprinkling of salad £14.40.The dips were sooo tiny. 3 teeny tiny dishes of olives, salsa and ? with bread to share amongst 4/5 people. We estimate that the portions are at least 50% smaller and the cost between 30/45% more than with the previous owners. The food quality is as good as the original. But the service, ambience and cost have all suffered. We Observed some customers walking out before ordering, due to cost.Several over charges made. Error? Also told would need to leave within 2.5hrs of arriving. This sumises that everyone arrives spot on time. Then took 45 minutes before order taken.Felt rushed and unwelcome. Was told they like to turn customers round quickly.Drinks over priced £5.75 pint.Basic Wine £7 small glass.Soft drinks £2.50. 1/2 pint shandy £3.75.Reluctantly brought glass of tap water. We have NEVER,EVER been to a Turkish and not had to take food home because there was simply so much lovely food.We are not great big greedy eaters. But, everyone of us 20+ without fail were disappointed and have said we won't bother going to Shish kitchen again.Debden has a new Turkish, with rave reviews. On corner of broadway, near petrol stn. £9.95 2 courses plus drink (mid week)£25 for huge mixed platter to share including bottle of wine week ends.Know where we're going next time.

There is a large free carpark with plenty of spaces and you enter your number plate into an ipad as you enter to ensure you don't get a ticket, which is really good.We went as a large group and had it booked before hand. When ordering we was just saying dish after dish and it must have been confusing, however everything was ordered correctly and all the food came out togther which is very good when dealing with a large group. It was nice also they tried to remember who ordered what drink when coming back with our drinks as everyone was talking and not paying attention so that was very helpful. I saw a couple of cocktails around the restaurant and they looked really nice to.We went for a combination of mixed sharing platters and individual dishes. The mixed food i think everywhere the prices have increased to what we was used to 5-10 years ago so i guess thats expected now. One concern is £70 for a mix for 3-4 people couldn't fill 4 guys. Not having doner on the menu i think will leave some people a little hungry as that usually will help fill people up. The lamb, chicken shish and ribs were really good, the chops were a nice size however was not tender and had that metalic meat taste to it which isn't always to everyones taste. Overall quite pleased with the food, it does have a little room for improvement to make it even better. The bill was roughly £30-£35 a head, it was a nice night and all was happy to pay.I would happily return, i would say this place is good for just two of you or for a large group, the staff are friendly and helpful and we all enjoyed it.

Was really impressed by the food quality here. I think it may be fractionally over priced given the location, but only just a little. Portion size, flavour, quality, and presentation were all perfect. Service could have been more attentive. It wouldn't stop me returning though. Only one complaint, we ordered a balloon bread as we had had that before elsewhere, but weren't told there was complimentary bread with the meal, so we ended up with way too much bread. That seems wasteful and environmentally unfriendly. It was excellent balloon bread though. Really high quality establishment, I can recommend Shish for a meal.

Staying at the Travelodge and wanted something better than pizza and burgers. Delighted to find Shish kitchen. Never been to a Turkish/middle eastern restaurant before so took quite some time deciding what to have, the waiting staff were very patient. Started with a free serving of Olives, minty yoghurt and pepper salsa which had a little bit of heat to it and focaccia bread (warm). I had a Lamb shish with a yoghurt drizzled with butter, delicious. My husband had the mixed shish kebabs, both served with salad and rice. Unfortunately no room for a desert as the portions were very generous. We don't have anything like this where we live so it was a very nice change.

Inside the decor is great, the menu is also good, a little uninspired, standard Turkish food that we are now very used to seeing, desserts totally silly with items like "Punky" you get in the classic old Indian restaurants. The service is fantastic, but with three customers and literally 14 staff, I'd expect it to be. The food was great and with the service being great also, you'd naturally expect me to give five stars. Well, I took one off for there basically being no proper desserts, why not do Kunefe or Kazandibi for examples, yes, I know you have Bakalva, but that is usually given free with a Turkish tea at the end. My second star removed was the price. A standard Lamb Shish is almost £15, the Monkfish is £20. Now that's fine becuase the service and food are good. But ultimately we can't pretend it isnt in an industrial estate round the back of Waltham Abbey, becuase it is. And whilst you feel like you are eating in the city with the decor and the prices, you do still come outside to an off M25 industrial estate. I was dissapointed in paying those prices and not being given anything decent at the start or end of meal, like they do in Kervan. Usually some nice flatbread, hummous, salad, tzadiki, something. Here we got a little basket of plain bread with about 4 olives. At the end there was no offer of a shot of Turkish Tea (which would cost them nothing, but be a nice gesture considering be basically paid £80 for two kebabs with a couple of drinks), even a baklava with it. These two cheap gestures for them (something nice to start with and something nice to finish with) woul dhave made all the difference and I could have justified the price. Sadly, despite the good food and service, we wouldn't go back.

8 of us went for Sunday lunch yesterday ,as though we live over an hour away , our daughter lives in Cheshunt and loves this place.Upon pulling into the car park , as the restaurant is next to a rather drab looking Travelodge , I wasn't expecting much to be honest as the location isn't great...a roundabout just off the motorway! However upon entering we were warmly greeted by the staff. The place is large and not particularly fancy inside neither.I don't eat meat so was a bit worried as my previous experience of Turkish restaurants and Turkish food had not impressed me before! But I can say this place has "converted" me to Turkish cuisine as every dish I had at Aksular was fresh and delicious. The fresh bread is amazing , so is the Tzaziki , houmous and my veggie "pide" ( Turkish equivalent to pizza) .Everyone ordered quite a few dishes and everyone was happy with their selection of both meat and veggie dishes.I have never liked the Baklava (sweet pastry) before as found it sickening but theirs was delicious! We paid just over £22 per person and that's with drinks lots of food and desserts too and left feeling like we were going to burst!Such a shame this place is nowhere near for us (we live in Essex) as it would otherwise be our new favourite restaurant!Thank you to all the staff at Aksular who were courteous , helpful and professional too!

Been to this particular Aksular a few times now and it’s been consistently good. Good service, the food is of good quality and reasonably priced. The special (£30?) is immense! Really good.

Went last night Friday 10th. Been to restaurant quite a lot before recently changed staff and what a shock. Miserable rude staff. Unhelpful when they took order wrong made one person out of ten of us wait 45mins for the correct meal. Food was cold and bread thrown on table then waited half an hour for the dips. Won’t be going again. Shame as used to be a lovely place to go and happy staff before

We had never eaten Turkish food before. Although it was a bit expensive for us the food was very good and decent portions. We will definitely eat there again for special occasions.

Met up with some friends for a midweek catch up. Perfect for a casual and informal dinner. Friendly staff and efficient service. Lovely dips and flat bread given for free and large meat platters to share at good value and so much we even took a goody bag home. Also catered for veggie friend.

Party of 6 adults. Seated straight away but took a while to take a drinks order then rushed us with the food order. Man taking order didn't really understand English that well but we got there in the end.

Situated as part of the Travelodge, I thought that this would be nothing like a good restaurant- but it is superb.

Really delicious food & was a nice family meal out. It was quite noisy at times. But the food & company outweighed that.

This used to be a nice place where the food was nice- the meat used to be melt in your mouth! That’s not so much the case anymore. The lamb was tough and flavourless, chicken again flavourless.

As we were planning on going on a Saturday Night, booked via the website; glad we did, as the restaurant was buzzing with multiple confirmation and birthday parties. Nonetheless we were seated within minutes of arriving, and service was polite, prompt and faultless. The Mixed Kebab was excellent, and the Turkish White Wine a perfect match. The portion sizes were more than adequate, but I was glad that I had room to round off my meal with exquisite Baklava and Turkish Mint Tea. My husband, Iain, opted for the Turkish Coffee, which he rated as excellent. Brilliant food, promptly and politely served in great surroundings and presenting great value for money, what more is there to add? Thoroughly recommended.

Found while staying at adjacent Travelodge. Dropped in after 9 on a Thursday night and made most welcome. Opted for the mixed grill for two and most pleasantly surprised by both the quality and quantity of food provided. The appetiser of bread and dips on the house was also an unexpected surprise. Turkish white wine was also good. Good service and excellent value for money made this an evening to remember, and we plan to return soon.

Lovely atmosphere and great food HOWEVER I can’t say the same about the breakfast!! I usually love Turkish breakfast but I went with my family and totally hated it! Nothing was fresh and was very dry! Such a disappointment cause it’s such a lovely restaurant friendly staff!

Wow factor from the second in the door. Traditional Turkish food on the barbecue. Good portions and great range of dishes. Range of beers on draught and well worth the money. Staff friendly and welcoming. You could imagine you were back on holiday

We were exploring the area where my husband grew up, but left 50 years ago, when we came across this restaurant. We were hooked the second we caught the aroma on the chargrill! We were just discussing starters when the free dips bread and salad arrived. We ordered a couple of meat dishes for mains and they were so generous we left with half in doggy bags. The free baclava, tea and coffee rounded the meal off at half the price I would expect to pay. Will probably go back with our veggie daughter tonight!

Had a family meal here and the food was excellent and the staff were very welcoming. We were a party of 8 adults with 2 babies and we all enjoyed our food. The bread and dips that are brought out to start were delicious, the menu is pretty extensive and there is definitely something for everybody. There is a good choice of meat, fish and vegetarian options and we will definitely visit again.

This is our 3rd visit here, and on this occasion things were even better. We arrived and the place was already very busy, we hadn’t booked, it was just gone 6pm early evening. Atilla the manager managed to reshuffle some tables and a table for two was done. People we’re flowing in constantly and Atilla was always keen to oblige every one who came through the door.

Me and my boyfriend had the worst experience ever! The waitress that served us had no clue on what she was doing and was ever so rude! She had blonde hair and clearly doesn’t know how to do her job! I advise people to not go here as they have no respect for their customers.

It is my birthday. We want to go out to eat. Where else would we go but Aksular Kitchen. Having been here before we knew what to expect, excellent food, good service and a friendly atmosphere. As a vegetarian it is important to me to have a good range of choice and here there is so much choice it is difficult to choose. Nice problem to have. I would recommend Aksular Kitchen to anyone but do make sure to book. It gets busy here and you do not want to be disappointed. Slightly hard to find, the restaurant is underneath the Travelodge Hotel with extensive car parking and so visible from the A10 main road.
