March Hare in West Lindsey

Not from the Area but called in for breakfast whilst taking my car to a local garage . I had the Welsh rarebit with bacon and my partner had the breakfast pancakes . Staff were effect and professional . My only grip was they advertised the Welsh rarebit with house pickle and it was just branston pickle . A touch expensive for what you get but tasted lovely and I would return . I’d like to sample one of the many cakes on show next time .

Popped into town for some breakfast after doing the Market Rasen parkrun. This was the first cafe we came across after parking the car and we were not disappointed. Full cooked English breakfast was very tasty. The cafe is nicely decorated and has a cozy feel. They had a good selection of cakes on offer so decided to buy some to take home with us. Plenty of options on the main menu if visiting at lunch time.

I was not impressed at all we waited over 1/2 for the waitress to come take our order. she didn’t come but went to someone who had just walked in, in the end I at to ask her to take are order then our order took another 1/2 to come and it was only a sandwiches. She really wasn’t happy because I at to call her over and made us wait I’m sure of it so much so had we not already had our coffee I would of walked out.lets just say I won’t be recommending it or or going again

This is one of the best in market rasen excellent menu very varied with lots of wonderfully cooked and served by some of the most courteous waitresses I've had serve my meal up to me .very clean place lovely seating just to sit and watch the world go by through the large panoramic windows.

I would just like to thank all the staff for their friendliness and help in what turned out to be a very long day for me. My car was in for it's MOT at a near by garage and so I decided to go to The March Hare for breakfast to kill some time. The situation with my car went from bad to worse. The staff couldn't have been kinder in letting me spend most of the day there is the warm out of the cold. I was not from Rasen and couldn't easily go home whilst repairs were being carried out. I had scrambled eggs on toast, a couple of coffees and a smoothie. I found the atmosphere relaxing, staff friendly and accommodating, food good and I am assuming the produce was locally sourced as whilst I was there a couple of deliveries made which looked like they were local. I would definitely recommend to my friend.

I would highly recommend this eatery for the high quality of food and the comfortable (and clean) dining area . The two members of staff who looked after us were very sociable and nothing seemed too much trouble for them . Abbey and Sehren were definitely one ( or two ) of the reasons we will come back . Give The March Hare a visit. You won't be disappointed . Even if it's to use the spotless toilets !

Disappointed After reading the mixed reviews came with an open mind ! If you like dogs where you eat then this is the place !! One dog was sat on a knee with its paws on the table Also expensive for the portion size , very small ?

Seated straight away ordered two large lattes came quickly beautiful coffee with a lotus biscuit. Ordered a march bclt sandwich and a Philly steak sandwich came quickly lovely sandwiches with a salad garnish and ramekin of coleslaw. Enjoyed the main followed by. A cappuccino and caramel shortbread cake which was beautiful staff friendly great service beautiful food will visit more often.

Hmmmmmm - not as good as used to be! The service was extremely slow and sluggish. All we wanted was 2 slices of cake and 2 lattes. The service to get served was slow and to receiving our coffees, to came to our table was so slow. The cups were small and presentation of the cakes wasn’t that good. So not really good value for money. Used to be so good here but appears to have lost its direction. The cafe wasn’t even busy.

After reading some not so good reviews on here in the last few weeks, I was really apprehensive about going here, but it was my daughters birthday and her choice. My daughter and her partner had pre offered the tomahawk steak and were informed earlier in day it wasn't available so ordered the chateau briand. Staff were welcoming and friendly and although one member of her partner didn't like hers, they straight away took it off the bill. There was no rush, we even ordered another bottle after dinner, which we was able to enjoy at leisure. Would like to say thankyou to Sinead and Lesley for their friendl friendliness and professionalism, and making our whole evening very enjoyable 😀

Good food & service. Particularly want to mention Karly who is an asset to the March Hare. Will definitely be returning soon.

This place is a regular one l visit, service is very good, never had a problem. One of the waitresses is particularly friendly, helpful and considerate,Carly you are an asset! Food is good and l love the selection of cakes on offer! Highly recommended 🙂

Yesterdays experience was dreadful which was a shame as the previous Thursday was very good. The lady who wrote the previous review was spot on with her analysis, she and everyone else in the premises had to put up with a certain member of staff having a childlike tantrum. A complaint was made which escalated so much so the manager had to step in to calm the situation down. The staff member in question used as part of her justification her rate of pay ( this was along the lines of " I don't get paid £10.42 to take criticism from you"). The staff member then stormed out of the building saying " I am going out for a fag before I lose my s**t" At this point the manager must have followed her outside to challenge her behaviour, on their return a delivery driver was waiting for his delivery note to be signed, again she started to complain to him about how hard done she had been treated. We waited 50 minutes for our food which was at best average however one of the members of staff from the kitchen had time to make his own lunch and sit beside us and eat it during this time. When we left we wanted to add our complaints to the issue but as the member of staff in question was in the immediate vacinity felt a phone call the following morning would be more appropriate, just tried that and asked for the manager, only to be told there was no manager in till Friday (its Wednesday today) hence the comments on Tripadvisor. All in all cringe worthy experience which is not worth repeating!

A very bad experience, waited over 30 minutes for food so asked how long it was going to be and was told.another ten minutes, I pointed out to the waitress that they had been telling people who where coming in after that there was a long wait so why hadn’t they told us. When food came my husband left half of his wrap saying bacon, beans etc was cold, that however was not our main issue, when I went to pay the other waitress accused me of making the the other girl cry as I was aggressive to her, this was untrue and said so to this waitress, she was then totally aggressive to me to the point of being threatening, saying she was only paid £10.42 an hour so didn’t have to take any criticism, at this point the manager came out and told her to go away and she spoke to me in a proper manner said they had had a problem in the kitchen causing the delays, as I pointed out they should have informed us of this then we would have understood the delay. The aggressive waitress then went to the tables outside and was calling me, my husband was outside and heard it, this is totally unacceptable behaviour.

Staff are nice and friendly and the food is good when it eventually arrives - but service is painfully slow. It shouldn’t take the best part of an hour to get a meat pie and a sandwich. Such a shame as it’s a lovely cafe but I’m afraid we won’t be visiting again unless they sort this issue out.”

Visited the March Hare with my son today after reading reviews about their good gluten free options. I am coeliac. When we arrived all was fine and they have a gluten free menu. I ordered a large gf breakfast and my son a large breakfast. The food itself seemed ok but the mushrooms undercooked and my ‘gluten free” sausages has a strange aftertaste. We had 2 coffees and 2 fruit juices and our bill was over £40!! After returning home after the breakfast I began to feel unwell and was violently sick for a couple of hours. Not happy at all with the extortionate price and the obviously NOT gluten free food. I will not be visiting again

Being a fairly frequent visitor to the March Hare, we called in for a quick snack. All we ordered was beans on toast, and 47 minutes later it arrived. In the past we have patiently waited and enjoyed the food, when others have asked when will the food arrived. The front of house staff immediately take the order to the kitchen as witnessed today. It is quite clear the problem is within the kitchen. Fed up with “sorry we are short staffed” or we are exceptionally busy. It will be some time before we go back. I will never say never.

on way in told "short staffed " fair enough, however when the food came to the table , anaemic jacket potato very small with hardly any filling , followed by eggs benedict the water from the poached eggs made the bun soggy , what happened to the slice on ham ? again about £9. no return planned

Popped into the March Hare for a coffee and breakfast sandwich this morning. Food was absolutely stunning as always, I was so full which shows I’ve had some good home cooked food but a special mention must be made about Rebecca and Daisys customer service, it is absolutely fantastic! They are both so attentive with the friendliest and most welcoming personalities. So grateful to have this beautiful establishment on my doorstep!

I don’t know what was going on today, as it wasn’t busy at all when we arrived at 1pm but Jesus it was a nightmare. We had pre ordered our food and that was pretty pointless as it’s clear nothing was remotely prepared for us coming anyway. We had a table of 9, which I wouldn’t say was a lot and included 3 kids, one having plain pasta that takes 8 bloody minutes and all the rest of the meal picked off a set menu… We waited a while for our food to come out and the starter was the best course by a mile as it turned out. The main, chicken supreme, was an absolute abomination. I think they’d started cooking the chicken when we had booked a week ago. It was as dry as the Sahara and it definitely couldn’t be eaten. Two plates went back and two reluctantly eaten as we were starving from the wait as it was. I feel the waitresses were hung out to dry as it’s not their fault the food was terrible, but they where the ones having to apologise to multiple tables in the 2 hours we where there. Overall. Sh*te. We got £20 off with the total bill still coming to over £200 with two of us only eating a starter. Won’t be coming back. I get we all have bad days but the “chef” could have come and apologised instead of leaving the waitresses, who where lovely under the stress of the madness, take the sh*t for it all.

Nice choice on menu, but our poached eggs came out undercooked, slimy and unsightly. The eggs were returned to kitchen but came out looking like fried eggs. Have to question the capability of chef on other menu items, if poached eggs can’t be delivered successfully.
