I was so lucky to have lived near this restaurant, and find myself coming back when I'm in the area. The salads I particularly like, and the location (with Trellick Tower in sight and on Golborne Road- which hosts other cool boutique shops and is near to Portobello market) is wonderful. A true gem of the area, and the food is quick, delicious and affordable. The restaurant is also important to represent and share Palestinian cuisine! Viva Palestina.

Excellent food. Seasoning was just right. All taste like home cooked food, no msg. Chicken from the couscous dish was marinated just right and super tender. The moussaka was very flavourful. The service was also very good, warm and welcoming. We loved the decor and atmosphere. For a couple of hours, we were brought back to Palestine. Thank you.

Maramia Palestinian Restaurant offers an authentic taste of Palestine, with their Chicken Mousukhan standing out as a highlight. Tender and flavorful chicken, seasoned with traditional spices, makes this dish a must-try. Served with yogurt and a side salad, it's a delicious and satisfying meal. The restaurant's warm hospitality and inviting atmosphere add to the dining experience. Overall, Maramia is a top choice for exploring Palestinian cuisine!

Today had Iftar at Maramia Cafe which is an all time favourite but this is the first time to go in Ramadan for Iftar. I have always loved everything about this place: the food, service, the Palestinian authenticity and last but definitely not least the delicious food. Iftar here was brilliant because the food arrived right on time, was absolutely delicious with the right amount and portion for the whole table. We were a table of 11 and had a mix of the palestinian dishes with appetisers and everything was just perfect. Everyone at the place made sure to attend to all of our needs, and honestly were just extremely friendly and hospitable. I highly recommend this place for anyone who wants a hot delicious quality meal during iftar (which is not very easy to find) as well as on other days when you can absolutely enjoy the music, vibes as well as drinks! Thank you to Haifa and the Maramia team for this wonderful dining experience :)

This was a unique little restaurant just around the corner from the bustling Portobello Road. The choice of food is good with amazing falafels being the choice for lunch along with one of the salad options. Also recommend the hummus to compliment. First time trying Palestinian wine and thoroughly enjoyed the red myself. Finished off with an interesting pot of Maramia (sage) tea.

Maramia Restaurant: A Disastrous Dining Experience" Our family's visit to Maramia Restaurant for breaking our fast turned into a nightmarish ordeal that I must share to warn others. We arrived with hungry children, anticipating a pleasant meal, but what followed was a cascade of incompetence and mistreatment. After placing our food order, we patiently waited for an hour and a half, only to be informed that our order hadn't been processed at all. The lack of basic organization was shocking and disappointing. Despite our frustration and desire to leave, the restaurant staff insisted we stay, assuring us that the bill would be waived as an apology for their error. Reluctantly, we agreed to give them another chance. Another agonizing hour passed before our food began to arrive, but what came to our table was far from satisfactory. The dishes were poorly prepared, lacking in flavor, and some were barely edible. It was evident that the kitchen was in chaos, unable to handle even the simplest of orders. As we prepared to depart, hoping to put the nightmare behind us, we discovered that the owner had vanished. Instead, the waiters confronted us, demanding full payment or threatening to involve the police. To add insult to injury, we discovered that the restaurant had illegally charged VAT twice on the final bill, further adding to our frustration and sense of being taken advantage of. Our experience at Maramia Restaurant was nothing short of a disaster. From the initial incompetence to the mistreatment and illegal billing practices, this establishment has shown a blatant disregard for customer satisfaction and ethical business practices. I strongly advise against dining here and suggest seeking out establishments that value their customers and adhere to the law.

Dishonest people!! I wish I did not have to post this as the food is good but the staff are dishonest. I ordered a moussaka for takeaway which costs over £20 and was really disappointed to find that I had been given a third of portion that I would ordinarily have in the restaurant. I complained to the restaurant immediately and sent a picture of the takeaway. The manager apologised and told me that the staff had given me the wrong size container. I had my suspicions as initially staff informed me that they had run out of moussaka but obviously gave me the left overs in the hope that I would not notice. So the manager asked me to come in again and collect a full portion which I did and also ordered some additional food at the same time. To my surprise when I got home the box of moussaka was even smaller than last time!! I tried to call the manager with a picture but no response so far. It is really disappointing and unprofessional. Why do this and cheat your customers who pay you to run this business.

I came here for the first time with my partner last night and I often eat Middle Eastern food. I’ve been longing to try Palestinian cuisine for a while now & I must say, it was absolutely mind blowing. I was intrigued to see how different it would taste to other Middle Eastern foods & it did not disappoint. The flavours were top notch, the service was fantastic, the Palestinian wine was better than most European wines (don’t skip this), but the food was the highlight. Extremely hearty meals which you can tell mean a lot to the culture. Thank you so much & I cannot wait to return for your buffet.

We reserved a table for my birthday. In my friendship group there is a trans woman mid transition. Nobody greeted us on entry, it went really quiet when we walked in – we had to walk over to the front desk and waited a couple of minutes for somebody to even acknowledge our presence. Loads of staff walked past us without even greeting us or meeting our eyes. Finally, once somebody acknowledged our existence we asked for a table. They hesitated, even though there were tables, it felt like they didn’t want to seat us. When they found out we had a reservation, the woman exclaimed “oh” and seemed almost disappointed and seated us. Food was decent which is why it gets 2 stars instead of 1. There was a Palestinian woman in our group so she’s well experienced with good Palestinian food at home and other Palestinian restaurants in the world. But we all agreed, most of this food wasn’t worth the price tag, but it wasn’t bad either. For starters, the falafel in particular was tasteless but the Sujuk and bread was really good. For mains, the highlight was the lamb steaks which were absolutely gorgeous. The Palestinian wine was good too but expensive. Now when the service gets really bad: for desert, we ordered Knafeh a grand total of 3 times without ever receiving it. After requesting it a final time we waited about 30 minutes with no staff communication/updates before we gave up and left the restaurant. This is where the appalling service was at it’s worst - We clearly ordered Knafeh, finished all our drinks well in advance, we were very clearly waiting at an empty table for dessert for about half an hour. Nobody asked us if there was anything we needed/were waiting for - We were seated near the front and not one member of staff noticed we were clearly waiting for something even though they weren’t busy with guests. It seemed like they just wanted us to leave. Eventually we requested the bill (which didn’t even have the Knafeh on in the first place so we waited half an hour for something that wasn’t coming) and left. It wasn't just me - every single one of us left feeling that we were treated with very bad vibes and that the atmosphere was judgy and strange. We are young visibly queer people and my trans friend in particular felt they were being targeted due to being trans. We weren’t welcome in the restaurant from the very second we walked in to when we left. I personally wouldn’t recommend it to visibly LGBT people - one persons opinion is one thing. But when a bunch of queer people leave all feeling the same because we just know we're being treated differently with less respect to your other guests who were being greeted at the door. Save yourself the hassle and just avoid.

I feel in love with the Chicken Mousakhan and the Basboussa at the end. The owner of the restaurant passed away few years ago, so his son is taking care of this cute quirky restaurant. I also learned that this has been a family run establishment, even the owner’s 2nd son turns out to be the Ambassador of Palestine for the UK and they knew Yasser Arafat. They got their family photo hung on the walls of this restaurant. Worth a visit, you’ll not just indulge in the succulent food but also learn their family history.

We wondered randomly into Maramia on a rainy Sunday in Portobello. Staff helpfully moved a couple to a smaller table to accommodate the three of use (sorry couple) and were so friendly throughout. We started with Palestinian coffee while looking at menus - it'll perk you right up :) The food was exceptionally good and my veggie niece said there was loads to tempt her. We ordered fairly liberally to try as much as possible and still other tables' dishes caused serious food envy. We loved the atmosphere and clientele - couples, families (young to old) and drop-ins like us, and no one in any hurry to rush their meal. It was so convivial and relaxed. We'd be back for that feeling alone, but the food was wonderful also, especially the inventive use of herbs like dill flavouring a 'Gaza salad' with tomatoes in a light cream sauce; herby spiced sausage, top class hummous + dipping flatbreads and the best falafel I've ever tasted with a light outer crunch and inner melty gorgeousness. The baklava is served on round, wooden platters with eight (or nine?) different bite-sized presentations+textures. It was so, so good.

Warning: RAW chicken - make sure to inspect your food. My friend and I tried this place for the first time as we both love food from this region. The atmosphere was lovely and the items we ordered from the menu were delicious overall (even if some of the dishes had too much of a modern, western take on traditional foods - like the fattoush and mousakhan). However, towards the end of the meal, my friend noticed that the grilled chicken wings she had ordered (jawaneh meshwui) were completely raw to the bone. Unfortunately, as the restaurant was dimly lit, she wasn't able to see this in time. I can't emphasise enough how dangerous and serious this mistake was on behalf of the chef. Salmonella can be an extremely serious infection, and my friend was understandably horrified to find that her chicken was completely raw. She is now waiting to see if she has become infected. It is hard to understand how the chef made such a serious mistake on the grill; the chicken wing was just completely raw on the underside - suggesting that basic kitchen standards were either not in place or not followed. There is absolutely no excuse for the possibility of poisoning customers. Despite the gravity of this situation, I would like to thank the fantastic person who served us, Jack. He was extremely apologetic, and took absolute accountability for this mistake even though he was not to blame in the slightest. He also made sure he removed the item off the bill, and kindly offered us complimentary cake and drinks. Nevertheless, management at Maramia Cafe need to urgently look into this matter and review kitchen standards immediately. Serving raw chicken is an inexcusable and alarming mistake to make.

Having returned from visit to Palestine, West Bank I was very keen to visit this restaurant. My daughter and I entered at 2.30pm on Sunday to be told very curtly "we're closed" by a waiter. I was dismayed saying we'd travelled across London to visit, and my daughter said but it says you stop ordering at 3pm. The waiter relented and said "you can stay if you order quickly". It was a horrible "welcome" and certainly not like anything I have experienced on my travels (staying in refugee camps and villages away from the obvious spots like Bethlehem and Jerusalem. Anyway we subsequently ordered food which was nice (hummus in a bowl???? Surely a plate is more authentic?) Not long after receiving our food we were asked to pay our bill (meaning I couldn't order the fabulous Knafeh which was such a shame). After paying the bill the waiter did say we didn't need to rush and enjoy our meal. However shortly after the music (English 🤦 not Palestinian) was turned off leaving us feel rushed and uncomfortable. When I then went to the toilet my daughter was told we need to leave, along with another table of three ladies (who were not impressed). During our visit the waiter greeted three other groups/individuals entering the restaurant with the "we're closed" statement. I left feeling quite upset, I'd talked non stop with my daughter about Palestine, it's hardship, my solidarity with their plight, and their beautiful people to then receive such an unpleasant experience in this restaurant. (I had arrived back in the UK the previous day). I will add we enjoyed the food, and will return when I come back to London in October to hopefully have a better experience. (I write this review in complete solidarity with Palestine, I'm a human rights activist and will always support its people 🇯🇴🇯🇴🇯🇴)

We had fatoush which was delicious but it’s not the proper one, mosakhan and kabab . The gazawia salad was so delicious.

After visiting this place I'm already thinking about coming again. I had the musakhan, matoubal and arayes. I recommend them all. Since everything was so good, I want to come back and try everything else. Service was OK. I'm not sure if they were understaffed but it was hard to get someone to come over. When they did come over they were pleasant but blunt. They may not have been confident English speakers though.

One of the worst experiences of my life. They charged us almost 100£ for a dinner that was worth honestly 50£. The food isn’t event that great. No words.

Excellent introduction for us to Palestinian cuisine which reminded us of both Lebanese and Egyptian food but with notable differences. Everything tasted “homemade” and authentic. We chose a range of vegetarian dishes including the Labneh, the aubergine, and the moudammas, the Arabic flatbread was exquisite. The generous use of olive oil added to the taste and experience. We would love to go back. Staff were very attentive and friendly. Surprised this place isn’t getting more well deserved patronage given overpriced (for portions) Caia next door. Definitely recommend- the 4.3 stars I saw doesn’t do Maramia justice.

Very expensive Plastinen Restaurin in Golborne Road, Ladbroke Grove, London. We have lunch today a cup of fries changed including service charge £8.50p if I count may be 15/20 pieces potatoes chips, the most expensive chips ever I bought in London. The mix grill was very small size including service charge £25.00, all the meat was very small prices, a lentil soup £8.58p in a smaller pot . This is a Ripoff restaurant. Be careful before you visit it is not worth visiting if you compare with other restaurants in London. Good luck all hungry people. Spend wisely.

I LOVE this place. It is an understatement of the quality of food and taste. It has been around for 20 years and I have discovered it far too late. I took my family and their partners here last week. They have already made plans to go again on their own but also in bigger groups. I thought the yellow sauce that came with the mains was mayo. It’s not. It’s yoghurt 😋❤️ Sorry I didn’t add more pics. I had dug straight in The house red is fantastic. Bottomline: You won’t regret whatever you order.

We could not find a place to eat on a late Friday after 7pm. The restaurant was full. Bit they were very nice and made some space for the two of us in the outside terrace. The food was amazing. The biggest surprise was when we finished. Every single person from the restaurant inside were dancing to the very nice mixed music. We had so much fun and without planning. Highly recommend, specially on the weekends as the dance is something that happens then.

The owner of the restaurant was drunk and brought his dog in and left him on our seats. The dog got up on the table and started licking our plates. We kindly asked the restaurant owner to take his dog because one of us has dog allergies. The owner took his dog and said ‘if I was a Jew you wouldn’t have done this, you would have taken your clothes off for my dog’. We asked the lovely waitress who this drunk man with a beer belly is, and she confirmed that he is the owner. He then started blasting extremely loud music, we asked him to put the volume down, which he did for a bit, before blasting it again. He said he does this every Friday night and people dance on the tables. Today was a Sunday evening. Terrible drunken owner. Don’t go if you want a civilised meal - the drunken owner will blast music, ask people to dance on tables and bring his dog to pick your plate. It’s a shame because it used to be a great restaurant when the elderly gentleman and his daughter used to run it.

Stay away from this place, their average and overpriced food , and their rude and arrogant owner and staff. Lack of security - they let anyone enter and roam around the tables and a bag was stolen. They charge 65£ pp (fixed menu), but we ended up paying 125£ each. They added extra people to the bill and it is impossible to track the number of drinks they add to the bill. The worst thing is the attitude of the owner. During our dinner my friend's handbag was stolen because they let anyone enter and roam around the tables of the restaurant without control. The owner was completely unhelpful, he didn't care at all about the theft (they don't have any insurance). He only cares about taking your money. We were 26 and none of us will ever come back to this awful place.
