Maple Chinese Hot Food Takeaway in Eastbourne

Ordered tonight and the whole order just tasted stale even down to the fortune cookies. Salt and pepper chilli chips had literally no seasoning on them at all and was just soggy. Everything just tasted re-heated and like it had been sat there for however long, won't be ordering again.

I usually go to Maple Chinese, apart from on a Wednesday (when they are closed!) Tonight, (I'd been unwell for a few days and hadn't eaten properly) so I really needed some hot, fresh food. Maple Chinese delivered within 15 minutes of ordering (I was their last order but they still just squeezed me in at 11pm!) They left the food in my porch as requested. Absolutely super speedy, lovely & just what was needed! Great value on the small salt & pepper munch box too, thank you so much, Maple! 5☆'s!

Specifically asked for eating utensils through Deliveroo app. Staying in marine parade hotel. Had to eat a meal with my partner with 1 tea spoon to share. Food was bang average.

The staff where fighting at the back and they where so loud and when I placed the order the staff was so rude she was not ready to listen what I was ordering and she was showing the anger from the kitchen in me which was rude

The service is tired, the food looks like ready-made food and tastes of nothing.

This place is fantastic. Food is the best. The place is easy to miss as its small and a bit hidden away. I really rate maple. Mei is very good with orders.. A must try.

We have ordered three times now from Maples. The food is always delicious you usually get free prawn crackers. Delivery times can vary but if you plan for this it shouldn't be a problem. The delivery drivers are always polite!

Food not edible. Pork balls disgusting!! Ribs not nice strange after taste. Seaweed tastes old. Please avoid.

They were very busy and under a lot of pressure and they delivered tasty hot food to me in very bad weather. Good effort and the food was nice.

I called asking about the free drink when u spend £40 and didn’t receive it. Food was cold and stale clearly not freshly cooked. I normally order from here so very sad to leave a bad review but unfortunately I’ve had to.

I ordered online, looked forward after my food arrived early only to be shocked at the qaulity of it. Vegetable x10 spring rolls 95% pastry 5% veg over fried - inedible, Chicken balls that clearly weren't as the meat inside was something else, along with Prawn balls and Pork balls that were way over battered, and also overfried. The rest of the food was ok, though the bean sprout chow mein could have had more sauce. What was most distressing was after i called Maple directly to speak to the Manager which seemed, difficult she answered and asked me to bring what food i had left to the shop directly. Once i arrived i spoke with the Manager only to be told there had never been any complaints ever, dismissive of my viewpoint and that i was mistaken on my order. They took the food i brought away then the Manager said "what you want me to do", there was no simple 'I'm sorry your experience wasn't great, can i give something else instead' where most restaurants do to keep customers happy. Sadly I've previously given 5 * in review's, but cannot arfter this as the rebuke i received i found was very rude especially in front of other customer's so i will not shop here again.😡👎 Since my original review the name has been changed on JustEat to ( Mama's Rice ) so same company, same no [ 52 ] Seaside not 103!

Absolutely appalling. I ordered food via uber eats and the delivery time was going up and up. So I rang the restaurant to find out where the food was to then be abused screamed and sworn at down the phone. I was told if it did turn up it would be tampered with for ringing and asking where my food was. When it turned up 35 mins late it was cold damaged and unedable. And I found fluff in my food and dirt from the floor. I am so upset. Please don't order from here its appalling. With very rude staff.

Took an hour and a half to deliver and when it arrived was Luke warm. Got an upset stomach later so won’t be ordering from them again!

I ordered chicken in black bean sauce and there was an option for 90p more to come with rice. No rice showed up and the container had been damaged.

This is by far the worst thing I have ever eaten, crackers were stale, chips were soggy and chucked in a bag. The salt and pepper chicken had no chicken on the batter. Freezing cold and tasted disgusting. I do not know how this business is still running. Waste of money and wasn’t able to eat my dinner.

Honestly gob smacked at how bad this was. Just for comparison we ordered sweet and sour chicken, beef chowmein, bbq ribs and praw crackers. ALL the sauces were pink including the sauce in the chowmein and completely tastless, literally taste of nothing and crackers were stale.

Awful food and appalling, rude customer service. One of the dishes was completely incorrect and the staff refused to correct our order, arguing that they were “100% right” and refused to refund. Please see attached a photo of the dish in question, which was “100%” ‘crispy duck with plum sauce’. With regard to the food that was actually ordered, it was tasteless, dry and had obviously been cooked long before and reheated - if only I had taken photos of the rest of the calamity that had arrived, but it was so quickly taken to the bin). I’m glad some on here seemed to have had good experiences, but please don’t waste your time and money ordering from here, only to be spoken to like dirt, rather than like a paying customer.

Fantastic as always. Food was great. Delivered promptly and they even gave us a bottle of pepsi and prawn crackers for free.

This is a million miles away from authentic Chinese food absolutely shocking and appalling food it's a young lady cooking the food who hasn't been trained properly theres always a pushchair in the middle of the shop and her child screaming the worst Chinese I have eaten makes me laugh how businesses like this get away with it

Bloody rubbish! Had to wait over 2hrs for a delivery. Food not hot or of good quality, even the prawn crackers were stale.

Food is ok but there drivers can’t speak a word of English, so missed out on my last order because he couldn’t find where I live, tried to explain but but never understood. I will never use again!!!!!!!

It's my birthday. I just wanted a Chinese takeaway. Saved myself for it so I'm starving. Ordered at ten to six. Estimate was 19:15. Asked for an update through just eat at 19:40. Nothing. Had to call 5 times to get them to pick up. Just for them to say they haven't even done it yet and it will be another 35 minutes. Cancelled order. Went to a proper restaurant. Embarrassing. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

When ordering from them I had spent well over £50 for me and my family, we waited for 5 hours for our food and the shop had closed, we never received our food & left my children hungry! I am gobsmacked when I rung up in the morning I was told to wait 2 minutes for someone to sort out my refund when I was then hung up on, I have rung back multiple times over the last 2 months and have heard nothing nor have I seen a penny of the money I’m owed!

Absolutely revolting...essentially the sweet and sour sauce was a pink sticky gloop, all sweet, no sour and not one fragment of pepper or pineapple...the crispy chili beef looked like deep fried maggots and could have been anything (hopefully not maggots)...the curry simply wasn't one at all...thick sloppy with virtually no chicken and a cornflour overload...the egg fried rice was anything but with no noticeable egg present...an overall disaster of a takeaway which cannot compare with others that offer far better quality...my wife is Asian and we run a food business in Eastbourne...hand on heart, her dishes put this lot to shame...never ever again!

Funny that.....you make more money than ever but still get greedy and up the minimum order fee and up the delivery charge. shame on you I won't be back If you can do this during corona you have no morals

The most horribly places to eat 'chinese' phoned up for an order and the dude was speaking to me in quasi mandarin. Honestly could not understand what he was saying. Then he got annoyed at me for constantly asking him to repeat himself, then he hung up on me. A nice sounding lady phoned me back to apologise which was accepted but Id definitely give this joint a 0 out of 10

Worst place to order from. I've ordered from here a few times and well it's just got worst and worst. Today we ordered chicken chow mein. Turned up plain. Just chicken and noodles and was so dry with literally 4 bits of chicken. We rang to complain and was passed around 4 times. They were also very rude. Said they would send another chow mein out, and when we complained about the lack of chicken, she said it was because we got the special offers of 4 dishes for £16 and that's why we got less chicken. I'm sorry but if we order a meal, no matter what we pay, we shouldn't get less. It doesn't say this on the menu, otherwise we wouldn't have bothered. We wasn't really saving much anyway. Well waiting for the chow mein it decided to turn up after 40 mins and by this time I didn't really want it as I'd not had it as part of my meal. Very rude people and meal was awful. Won't order again.

My order arrived as I was still on their website paying. Couldn't believe it. It was the worst Chinese meal I have ever had, I always have the crispy chilli shredded beef, wherever I eat. The taste was weird and a very small amount of them. It is usually delicious and plentiful when I get it elsewhere. My Grandson ordered his beloved duck with plum sauce. It not only came with a very pale thin sauce but it had at least 20+ pieces of pineapple in it. He hates pineapple. The menu doesn't give you a guide as to what is in their recipe. My daughter hasn't got home yet to try her king prawn hong kong style. I also ordered mixed veg, assuming that it would have some broccoli or green beans etc in it. It was just chestnuts and chinese veg only. Not a green thing in sight. Also I might add that I spent over £37 pound and still had to pay for delivery and handling charges. It took 5 mins to get here. NEVER AGAIN!

I ordered sweet and sour chicken balls and 5 out of the 10 were burnt and inedible the rest of the food was ok but I've had much better from other Chinese take aways! So wont be ordering from here ever again.

I have ordered here nearly every week for the past 2 years. But I noticed that the Monday to Thursday deal is gone, I spoke to some colleagues at work who order here and both said it’s gone, that’s it.... we’re gone

I’ve no qualms about the food; portions are a good size although as another reviewer has also said, things like the BBQ ribs not having any discernible BBQ sauce does take away from this. Main issue I’ve found with them is that delivery time is always late and when you call their number; the restaurant will say anything to get you off the phone which adds insult to injury.

Worst take away ever. Asked for plain chow mein and came with veg but no beansprouts. Absolutely tasteless. Had no flavour at all. And the chicken looks like microwavable chicken. The pork balls were oozing with grease and tastes like fish. Not good when you don't like fish and can't eat it. Spent £27 on a rubbish meal. We rang the restaurant and had a lady shouting down the phone to staff. Thing is, it didn't allow me to stress the full problem and I couldn't be bothered in the end

What more to say than the fact that this place gave me food poisoning. Will not be ordering from here again, for obvious reasons and will certainly not be recommending it to anyone i know.

The chow mien was tasteless and tasted look it had been re heated. The chicken in our sweet and sour chicken was chewy. Husbands BBQ ribs also tasted funny like they had been re heated! So in the end the only thing we managed to eat out of our £30 Chinese was the chicken balls and crackers! we will not be getting food from here again and if you do buy from here do not re heat as its clearly already been re heated and you will be poorly!

Never had any problems form here before,but i ordered yesterday an had put rest in fridge (as you do) warmed it up today an ot was off as if they had re used it. Then called them up to tell em an they were rude!! An asked me to come in to get the same meal i ordered an they refused an gave me excuses an now i feel ill down to there food!! An when i told em im a chef so i know it was off they basically said i was lying. Well ill be getting there food checked out by someone who can will never eat there again an id advice people to check there food before they eat from there.

Quick delivery but disappointing food. Veggie chow mein was entirely flavourless, as was the seaweed, and the fried beansprouts were soft, wet and looked anemic. The veggie spring rolls were the saving grace, but even they were soft and horrifically oily. Ended up cooking most of it into my own chow mein with some veggies and store bought sauce, which made it vaguely edible. Felt quite sick after eating it - will not be ordering from here again.

Very filling food. Plenty of Choices.

Se utiliza para usar regularmente este quita hasta que consiguieron un nuevo chef. ¡Afortunadamente han cambiado de chef otra vez! La comida era muy sabrosa y había mucho para elegir en el menú! Tan bueno tener una opción decente por una vez.Realmente disfruté de la comida y podría haber encontrado una comida china para llevar de nuevo!

Simplemente terrible, si miras solo a comer, pensarías que tienes suerte de que cocinarán para ti ya que son muy buenos. NO. Costillas BBQ en salsa BBQ no comestible, la salsa literalmente sabe a nada y las costillas son extremadamente saladas. Las bolitas de pollo agridulce tenían pollo pero cuestionable si es pollo y la masa suficiente para cubrir un pequeño bacalao. Chow mein parecía anémico y grasiento. Pero las galletas de gambas que estaban libres medio decente si se busca un cenicero desechable. Mi consejo, donde sea que consigas tu comida china, si la cierras, obtén un kebab o una pizza, simplemente abandona este lugar.

This takeaway cooks and does most of its business outside the back under a canopy.. how do I know this you ask! Because I can hear and see them banging and shouting and cooking most of their food and preparing it from my window. Absolutely disgusting. They’re so loud and have no respect for children or anyone asleep above them. Their fridge is also situated outside. Surely they should be inside the premises not screaming everyday and banging until all hours of the night. Absolutely sick of it.

Sceptical food. Chow mein was so oily it could've been a fracking site. And the chicken felt very unusual, perhaps defrosted. Wouldn't buy food from here again.

Probablemente el chino más repugnante que he tenido, felizmente me gustaría un reembolso, pedí la carne crujiente de chile que parecía gris y sabía horrible, el satay de pollo sabía a nada y era duro, el chow mein era tan grasiento que ni siquiera cómelo, la salsa agridulce y el curry porque somos tan gruesos que podría cortarlos con un cuchillo y sabor suave, ¡y las bolas de pollo como rocas de pollo masticable! ¡La comida era como si todo hubiera sido metida en el microondas y enviada! ! ! ¡Inaceptable!

Las costillas de salon Pepper son tan pequeñas que no se las puede llamar costillas y tristemente más gordas que la carne.El satay de pollo es lo peor que he probado, el pollo estaba tan seco que era difícil de tragar y la salsa satay era demasiado sosa. No es bueno en absoluto.Las bolas de pollo, nosotrosL la pasta era tan dura que era un trabajo para morder, tener que recalentar en el horno no ayudaba, sin embargo, no pedimos una toma para luego tener que recalentar todo cuando llegó.No tuve otra opción que quejarme, nuestra comida fue una decepción. Sí ofrecieron cocinar nuestra comida, que fue muy amable de ellos.

Food is okay. We ordered seaweed without fish powder. It came without fish powder, as asked. But instead SMOTHERED in salt. To the point of being inedible. Other than that, it was okay

I really wanted chinese food and I love the 4 for £13 on Monday to Thursday which was great value. I had sweet and sour chicken balls, breaded chicken, chicken and cashew nuts and bean sprout chow mein which was lovely and arrived on time.

This must be one of the best in Eastbourne its fresh and always cooked very polite staff

Ordered food told 45 minute wait which was fine, food turned up within that time, driver rang communal bell, buzzed him , to be told can you come down, really! my partner went down after a few minutes when we realised he wasn't coming to our floor, he was waiting at the bottom of the stairs,got food , stone cold , we have had many take outs from Maple, but won't be having any more! I phoned the takeaway after to which we was offered to have more food cooked to which I replied I would be leaving a review on here.

Enjoyed my chinese very much.. arrived earlier then they told us and recieved free prawn crackers and a big bottle of pepsi.. will be ordering again soon

I order Chinese from here all the time. The four dishes for £13 is the best deal because usually Chinese food is expensive and it cuts down half the price. The food is delicious and arrives on time every time.

Food was absolutely amazing and delivered on time if I had to be 100% picky would say less batter on the chicken balls! Other than that amazing and will be using maple from now on ☺👍🏼

We saw an advert for Hungry House and ordered food from Maple. Simple and easy to order. Food arrived on time. Food was lovely.

Ordered via JustEat at 4.40pm and initial eta for delivery was given as 5.25pm (standard 45 minutes for Just Eat). This was then changed by the restaurant to 6.05pm but had not arrived at 6.30. Quick phone call to the restaurant and the food finally arrived at 6.40pm, 2 hours after the order was placed.

Just had a home delivery & sorry to say the food was absolutely awful. Dry, tasteless, lukewarm & honestly not good. Won't be ordering here again.

Orderd our food at 6pm by 8 it still had not arrived and when it did it was cold at 8.30pm.2 and half hours late and the food was just foul i paid £37 for the food and rang them.up as soon as we knew it was cold i was not offerd any hot food replacements or a refund avoid

good fresh food that arrives quickly and tastes great...we hate garlic and sometimes some slips through the net...but this a forgivable as the food is really nice.

Underwhelmed by the offering. Dry spareribs where tasteless, crispy chilli beef was not and the rest was generally lacklustre. To be fair I find, with a few exceptions, most Chinese restaurants are wanting, hence three stars. Delivery was speedy.

I've been searching for a good chinese takeaway for what seems like forever. I stumbled across Maple on an app and gave them a go. The food is fairly priced, and great value for money - I always seem to have too much and it lasts me another day. The delivery driver seemed nice enough too. Easily the best chinese take away in Eastbourne.

We found this on "Just Eat" and have never heard of it before but as it was the most highly rated we decided to try it.
