Good Chinese take away. Does what it says on the tin

We order from here regularly, and the food quality is normally quite good. But on this occasion (New Year's Day evening) the food was not up to it's usual quality! There was far too much garlic in the vegetable spring rolls and the special fried rice lacked flavour.

Great Chinese, best in Eastbourne! won’t go anywhere else. Such lovely people and amazing food. Never had a single bad word to say, when we order with guests they also give lots of compliments!

Visited this takeaway for the first time, and although the quality of the food seemed to be okay, the taste was oh, so so salty made the food virtually inedible ,ate about a third and threw the rest away. Will never go back again

Absolutely beautiful food, delivered on time piping hot, this was our first order and it won't be our last!! We had king prawn balls, special curry, crispy chilli beef, special rice, all was excellent. Highly recommend Urban jade would of given 10*👍👍

What an excellent takeaway. Everything cooked to perfection. I first rate my Chinese by the greasiness of the prawn crackers, these were perfect, good flavour without the grease. Our meal was for five so we had a mixture of chicken, prawns, beef and mixed veg plus rice and noodles. We often have a Chinese takeaway and from all the places in Eastbourne that we use this has been the best.

This used to be my go-to Chinese takeaway, around 2 years ago there was a change of chef so decided to not go back, upon hearing good things recently I tried it again and honestly can say I was happily surprised! Everything was cooked to perfection, had such great flavours and quality ingredients, definitely would recommend and look forward to using again! Update: Have had again since and wasn’t as good, must be dependent on the who’s the chef on the day.

Ordered a takeaway today(12/03/2023) for several items. We ordered tofu curry, veg, duck fried rice, veg fried rice , sea weed, sweet corn soup. Even though the quality of items seemed okay all the items ordered were tasting salty. Because of the saltiness we couldn’t enjoy the food at all. Sorry to say but it’s extremely disappointing to say that none of the dishes had a normal taste so that we could have said atleast one item was okay.

We are very loyal customers, easily one of the most frequent orderers from Urban Jade online. The delivery time has consistently become worse and worse. We used to have to wait twenty minutes maximum but now, seemingly increasing every time we order, it is over an hour every single time. It has reached two hours several times. This is unacceptable. As loyal customers, we unfortunately won’t be ordering anymore. .

I genuinely love this take-away restaurant. At this point I've had food from here dozens of times and it has never disappointed. The food is great and the staff are always warm and helpful. Hands down my favourite Chinese takeaway restaurant in the area and I highly recommend.

Urban Jade Oriental is our reliable local Chinese Takeout. They also do Thai food. When we get home late and don’t feel like coking we love that they stay open until 10pm (closed on Tuesdays). Favourite dishes include Crispy seaweed, Sesame prawn on toast, Crispy Aromatic Duck with pancakes, cucumber, onions & hoi sin sauce, Hong Kong style sweet and sour, and all the yellow bean sauce dishes. Its not fancy, but the food is good, and if you call n to order as a takeaway , rather than rely on delivery services (Ubereats / Just eat etc) your order is prepared really quickly and you get it piping hot.

Beef chow mien was bland and the beef was very chewy.Also the chips were half cooked.Very disappointing.

A very mixed experience for our first Chinese takeaway in the lovely town of Eastbourne. My kung po chicken, while lacking in subtlety and finesse, was a hearty plateful of satisfying takeaway grub. My wife’s special fried rice, however, was anything but special — somewhat dry and lacking in the tasty morsels one would expect to find in this classic dish. We will try Urban Jade again, once we’ve sampled a few rival Chinese takeaways.

Tried Urban Jade after trying every single Chinese in and around the Eastbourne area. This one is definitely the best!

Food is cold,slimey,and raw meat products.

Were recently recommended Urban Jade by some friends and were not disappointed. Food always arrives warm, tasty and on time. I recommend to order in advance & direct with the restaurant.

Disappointing service. Pre ordered before restaurant opened for 7.10, food arrived over an hour late with no communication from restaurant. Tried first time tonight for something different, will be sticking with what we know in future.

I tried this for the first time ,the chicken curry was very tasty and the chicken paid Thai delicious .A new favourite .

Absolutely disgusting service. Ordered a take a away which arrived with ribs instead of chicken in black bean and no salt and pepper chicken. Phoned and requested this be amended and that we should have fresh rice and was told that the rice would still be warm when the replacements arrived by a very rude man. What worries me is that he suggested heating the rice up in the microwave! When it arrived they only sent one of the missing items! Would recommend avoiding

Ordered of Uber which said 815 then once ordered changed to 9pm not the restaurant’s fault but called them only to be greeted by some rude woman who was not understanding what I was asking, I was offering to cancel or come and collet but she was pure and simply rude and inconsiderate, I don’t often write reviews but on an occasion like this felt necessary food is nice but costumer service is 0

told an hour which was fine after 2 hours called to see where my order was to be told they don’t have enough drivers but it will be on its way in 10mins! Waited another 15mins to be told that the driver had left 20mins ago- i live up the road!!!! Asked for a refund and was told i had to go online to request one which takes 3-5 working days. Didn’t seem bothered to be losing a regular customer, didn’t offer any sort extras or compensation for the inconvenience. Just didn’t seem bothered at all! I asked why they take so many orders if they can’t supply them to their customers and was told they can’t control their order intake. Absolute joke and a waste of time. No takeaway and out of pocket for the next week!!!

Very good food and delivery SUPER QUICK

We tried to put an order through on the website but it wouldn’t let us add a card to put the payment through - when I called restaurant to ask they were very unhelpful & rude. Would not order from this Chinese again.

Very tasty, and took only 20 minutes to get our food ready for collection. The Mongolian dishes were particularly enjoyable and unusual.

We have been using this restaurants delivery service for well over a year and have been happy with our food. However, tonight, after putting a fork full of noodles in my mouth, I preceeded to pull out a very long hair (at least 5 inches!) I gagged, deposited my mouthful into a tissue and wasted the rest of my meal. I'm so very disappointed but this made me feel really queasy and I'm not sure we will ever use this restaurant again.

We ordered our first family takeaway from Urban Jade last week and were very impressed with the taste and quality of the food, the large portions and reasonable price plus the meals were piping hot. What amazed me the most was that we ordered at peek time on a Friday evening, they gave us forty minutes delivery time and it turned up in twenty and the delivery driver was very friendly. We're looking forward to ordering again soon.

Really unhappy with Urban Jade. Tonight I ordered Chicken Chow Mein and there was next to no chicken in it. I separated it out and it wasn't even a mouthful. "I took it straight back and the man told me that's what you get" I pointed out that I would expect a bit more than mostly plain noodles with a garnish of chicken for £5.60 and he said because I'd touched it he couldn't do anything. I said I wanted my money back and he said he'd give me 50% so I told him to keep 100% and left it with him. I wouldn't be surprised if it went straight in the pot again!Very poor customer service!

We started using Urban jade in the 1st kickdown. Our, at the time takeaway of choice was not open and we thought we would give them a try as we were desperate for a Chinese. Everytime, delivery has been perfect, it is the best Chinese in Eastbourne and surrounding. Tonight's meal was just out of this world... I beg any of our friends to use their service.. and we will go nowhere else. Give it a try!! Thanks, the guys from Coppice Avenue!

Really good takeway restaurant - never had a bad meal from here, really tasty. Great Service and really friendly staff. Also do a large variety of good Veg / Vegan options and also a variety of Thai meals. Highly reccomend. One of the best in Eastbourne without doubt.

Great Chinese food, order from them regularly and everything I’ve tried has been delicious! Ordered today and they made a mistake but rectified it in 5 minutes and gave us a complimentary dish. Always really friendly and lovely service. Glad to have a good local takeaway!

Called the for a delivery, was told it would take an hour. 1 hour and 50 mins later and I'm still waiting. Tried to call for 20 minutes and constantly engaged. Decided to drive down to collect and I'm told it's still here and 'they are busy'. Waited and got the food in 5 mins. Probably an issue with delivery but instead of an apology I got an excuse which wasn't acceptable. Plus I paid for delivery and had to collect in the end. Plenty of good Chinese restaurants, save yourself a headache and use a different one

My first time with this takeaway. The good news first. The food is excellent. Way above average. The wait though was 1hr 50 mins. On chasing the order instead of getting an apology. Nothing but excuses and when they are busy its usually 90 mins. Really? I prob spend £300 a year on chinese takeaways. Sorry but can forgive the odd time being late but inexperienced rude customer facing people is something I cant stomach.. Such a pity as food was very good. 😒

Absolutely delicious! Food arrived earlier than expected, but it was hot and incredibly tasty. Even my fiancè cleared his plate, and he is pretty hard to please when it comes to takeaways! We will certainly use again and would recommend to anyone.

I would definitely use them again, and ordered a takeaway from them for my parents the following night. Very impressed with food and service considering that they must be very busy at the moment. First time was hopefull after reviews but found to be greasy not much egg in the rice and asked for mushrooms but got carrots and onions padding it out so it's not for me back to the Lantern.

Después de probar bastantes comida para llevar en los últimos 8 años que he estado en Eastbourne, finalmente encontré nuestra nueva opción de comida china.Para mí se trata de una buena consistencia. la comida siempre ha sido de buena calidad y entregada a tiempo si no antes del tiempo esperado.la comida es sabrosa para sus cosas genéricas para llevar tipo chino. Los dos platos que nos hicieron reordenar la primera vez fue el curry chino (delicioso) y las costillas a la barbacoa. simplemente hemos terminado bien y como nuestros platos favoritos es importante a la hora de volver.ahora hemos recibido 3 pedidos desde aquí y la comida, como se dijo al principio, ha sido perfectamente consistente.

He intentado este lugar varias veces desde que se hizo cargo de Winner House. Cada vez ha sido decepcionante.Los guisantes sabían que se habían agregado en diferentes puntos de cocción, otros no.El tamaño de la porción de mi comida también era pequeño para el precio. Supuse que a los precios cobrados recibiría un contenedor más grande pero no, y ni siquiera estaba completamente lleno.Hay un competidor cerca que es más barato, porciones más grandes y mejor cocidas, pero lamentablemente fueron cerradas.

Having tried a number of different Chinese takeaways in Eastbourne I have to say that Urban Jade is an excellent example. The food is always hot and tasty and the Sweet and Sour Chicken Balls are some of the best I have ever had. Highly recommended.

This was the worst takeaway we've ever received from this place and my husbands meal was so bad he refuses to ever eat anything from here again!

Have ordered from here many times and will continue too. The food always arrives hot, tasty and delivery normally arrives before specified times. The delivery drivers are always friendly.

I very much doubt the credibility of the majority of these reviews. This place is quite possibly the worst take away of any kind I have ever experienced. I ordered, by phone, 5 items, giving the names of the meals and also the relevant menu numbers. The person taking the order read it back to me. So far, so good. When the meal was delivered approx 30 minutes later, upon opening, not a single item was correct, 2 cartons being completely unidentifiable. I rang them. The person I spoke to insisted that the items delivered were just as I ordered. I disputed this and he became very dismissive, saying " ....it was up to me if I ate the meal or not but it was exactly as I had ordered.." I advised him that if the correct meals were not delivered within 15 minutes, I would be calling at the shop, to return the rubbish he had given me and I would expect a full refund. At this he asked me what it was I had originally ordered......and that they would re-do the order. He also stated it would arrive within 15 minutes. 25 minutes later, the food had not arrived( I live about 6-8 minutes walk from the shop) so, another phone call. He then stated that he thought the delivery person had left 10 minutes earlier. I asked him what he meant by " thought" More blustering from him and then there was a knock on the door. I asked the person delivering for the second time to wait while I checked the order. And one item was still wrong. They again insisted that was what I had ordered but then offered me a discount on my next order..... looking very puzzled when I laughed at this offer. At no time was an apology offered or an acceptance that they had made numerous errors shown. To cap it all, the food itself was tasteless, bland,of very poor quality and very unappealing in appearance. Most of it went in the bin. It is beyond me how anyone can say this shop has " friendly staff" or provides good quality food. It is awful.

Quality clean food . So generous with the portions that i had enough to take to work the next day . All who smelt it were jealous of my lunch .

The food was cooked quickly and the service polite but the food was over cooked and dry, particularly the duck and chicken ball batter. The Chow Mein was great but we were left feeling dissatisfied for what was a pretty high priced Chinese. I have definitely ha better elsewhere in Eastbourne

Visited Urban Jade Chinese takeaway due to seeing good reviews and they weren't wrong. The food was very good having the chicken balls which were one of the best ive had also Singapore noodles. Reasonable prices and order completed in good time.

I ordered a take-away from Urban Jade on Saturday the 5th May and it was delivered in double quick time. All food well cooked, very hot and very tasty. Just try it for yourself and you won't be disappointed!

First time we tried this takeaway and very impressed. Easy to order, delivery within the stated timeframe and the food....all delicious, hot and great quality. Only criticism was the chicken chow mein could've done with a bit more chicken and no fortune cookies, which I normally like. However, overall would definitely recommend and will certainly be ordering again!

The Beast Chinese restaurant and Takeaway ever !!! The food it's amazing ... I will recommend to anyone that love Chinese food , I use to order from Golden flower kitchen on Seaside Road ... But now after I had order from URBAN JADE restaurant and Takeaway for THE first time and won't be the last for sure ... Thank you for the amazing and for delivery on time that was really impressed how fast was .. I'm currently working for a pizza 2 Night shop but I will love to work with u guys soon.... I've been to a lot of chinese takeaway's in Eastbourne, but not had a takeaway as good. Their chicken balls are the biggest I've had an you get more than other places. Its very good, and the quality is very good. Big choice as well. Love the place. I give it 10 out of 5.

Unfortunately I'm not really happy with this. Waiting time etc is spot on. However, I'm vegitarian. I've ordered twice from there. Both times ordering vegetable chow mein. The first time, I came home and when I served it up it was chicken chow mein. Thought I'd let it slide... ordered again. Got home and there was chicken, beef & pork in there 😷 It's not just because I don't eat meat I was bothered it's simply because if I place an order I expect it to be correct. One time can be a mistake, but twice just seems careless to me. It's a shame as the last company in that building was amazing 🙄🤔

Having lived in Eastbourne for over 12 years we have tried a number and have to say that the Urban Jade is actually very nice. Food was delicious and not overly greasy - you can tell it was cooked fresh. I had the Crispy Chilli beef, the wife Thai Green Curry and my son BBQ ribs and we shared a portion of mixed fried vegetables in oyster sauce and crispy pork balls with some egg rice. Can't fault any of it and decent portions. My only complaint is the £2 delivery charge within Eastbourne and I wonder if this maybe puts more people off. The reason I have not given 5 stars is the delivery charge and also this is a first time try. We will definitely give Urban Jade another go.

Fortunately our nearest Chinese takeaway restaurant is very very good and never disappoints. Always freshly cooked and always prompt. Pleasant clean waiting seats for customers. Great selections on the menu. Give it a try. 5 stars.

It is good to see this takeaway open again and the food is great ,the best chow mein in town,highly recommended and we don't use any one else!

This used to be another Chinese takeaway but it's been refurbished and has new people running it and it's a vast improvement on the old one!

I threw it in the bin, worst chinese i have ever had the pork balls were uncookced, greasy rubbish..

Ordered food on telephone at 07:30pm - told order would be ready to collect in 40 minutes - what a joke. Arrived at 08:15pm and the place was packed coming out the door, eventually got to the counter and had to wait for the assistant who was in the kitchen, I could see food being picked up off the floor and a cook handling fish and then meat without washing their hands. Told my order would be ready in 10 minutes - stood with many unhappy customers - another 50 minutes later my order arrived - so that's 95 minutes after ordering - on getting home I realised I had been overcharged and my order was incomplete.

First time having a Chinese in over a year, for the reason most of them are to greasy so mega put off, but got recommend this Chinese and wasent disappointed, lovely food and friendly service from order to delivery.
