I have Manze of Peckham deliver to me as I live in Norfolk. I was brought up in Peckham and visited Manze at least once a week so was over the moon when I found out they delivered all over the UK. Service is good so is the packing of the order just couldn't imagine not having my fix of pie mash and liquor - it still tastes wonderful. I cannot review the actual restaurant as I did not eat there, I just have home delivery.

Pie, mash and liquor is one of my favourite meals. I grew up in Peckham, and have been visiting Manze since I was a child, although haven't had it in a while. I decided to get it delivered, which is never as good as eating in, but we are in lock down, and I needed some comfort food. The Liqour and mash were nice, but I found the pies really salty and I didn't like the consistency of the meat.

What can I say about Manzies that is not sufficiently covered by the 70 mile round trip I took with the members of my clan that could make it. Worth every mile and dodgy driver encountered on the way. Why drive that distance on a Saturday just for food? If i have to explain that, then you have never been there! There are not enough Michelin stars in the galaxy to cover the quality the Pie Mash and liquor served by ladies deserve. This is the real deal, proper food served by great people. It is a bustling, noisy pie shop and full of life and London.Go, order double double if your over 12 stone, soak in the atmosphere and make sure you get plenty of pepper and vinegar on board before the fork hits the mash! Don't miss it.

Muy amable personal de servicio. Comí una salsa tradicional de tarta y licor y puré de papa con una taza de té. Costo total 5. 20. No tiene mal valor. He querido probar esto.

Until about a decade or so ago there were three pie’n’mash shops in Peckham and although pie’n’mash has enjoyed a renaissance in recent years only Manze remains. The fact that Manze is still going strong after around a hundred years in business is no coincidence. Among pie’n’mash aficionados the top pie’n’mash shops in quite possibly the whole world are Manze (both the Peckham and Bermondsey branches) and Arments which is also in South East London. The menu at Manze is of course very limited. I always opt for two vegetarian pies (made from soya, for which I have to wait around 5 minutes) with mash and liquor with a can of diet coke. Also available is gravy in lieu of liquor and both stewed and jellied eels. I’ve tried both the stewed eels (not a particularly filling meal) and the jellied eels which are of course an acquired taste but rest be assured the jellied eels served at Manze are fresh rather than the nasty pre-packaged variety that you might find at seasides and funfairs etc. The eating area is as simple as it needs to be – communal tables and benches amongst green tiled walls with some local historical pictures. Nobody’s complaining though, the resolutely working class (and below) clientele can’t get enough of it and on Saturday match days when Millwall are playing at home there’s a special expectant buzz about the place. Admittedly the quality of the mash and liquor can vary from visit to visit (although the pies seem to be quite consistent) and if you don’t like this type of food then a trip to Manze probably won’t change your opinion but on the other hand it becomes strangely addictive. The only real negative I have about the place is the limited opening hours. Peckham may well have welcomed many new fantastic restaurants and cafés in recent years but Manze remains the quintessential authentic SE15 dining experience.

I moved from my birthplace of South London many years ago. I was born during a time when us kids could travel all over the City without our parents and come to no harm. I didn't realise until yesterday how much pie n mash links me to who I am. The Londoners I was amongst yesterday are kind, proud, happy to help, talk to strangers about anything at anytime and funny to their bones. I was home.I hadn't eaten pie n mash for years and my 'double pie mash n liquor' didn't touch the sides. If you are visiting London, you haven't visited London if you haven't had pie n mash!! I'm sorry, but you haven't!!You can take away any amount of pies, mash and liquor and freeze them.Thank you for the best meal I've eaten this year, for restoring me and for showing me that It's not wrong to just chat and laugh with friends you have yet to make.

I visited this restaurant out of interest following it being highlighted in a “Who Do You Think You Are?” programme that rekindled my fascination in going somewhere that I could try authentic Cockney cuisine and eels in particular.1st impressions were a bit contradictory in that staff were outside the door providing a barrier while they were smoking cigarettes and the vintage interior was intriguing with tiled walls, benches and wooden seating.“Hello my darling” was the greeting which I had not heard since Charlie Drake used it as his byline in the early days of television. “Pie, liquor and mash” was offered and accepted. The pie was all crust and it’s filling a lukewarm bath of gravy with few pieces of meat to be found; the mash was served in Dockers portions and had the consistency of set wallpaper paste while the liquor was a fairly tasteless and uninspiring complement. I didn’t go looking for the long desired eels.

Let me put my cards on the table, I love pie & mash and I've eaten in just about every pie & mash shop in London and a fair few beyond. I was out with my 6 month old son, intending to visit A.Cookes on the Goldhawk Road (regrettably closing down very soon), but the traffic was playing havoc with the buses. As I was in the London Bridge area I thought I'd pay a visit to Manzes down Tower Bridge Road. I arrived just at the end of the lunch time rush as they were preparing to close, but there was just enough time to sit down to eatHad my usual 3 pies, double mash & liquor. I've gotta say I was quite disappointed. The portions of mash were huge, (perhaps as they were about to close for the day), but very dry. The liquor was extremely thick and lacked any sort of flavour.Only the pies saved the day, something for which Manzes is rarely bettered. I've eaten here often in the past, but there are better on offer nearer my Hertfordshire home.

Just have to review what I consider to be THE best pie and mash ever!! Being a born and bred Londoner who's sadly relocated I've struggled on many an occasion to suppress the urge to jump on a train for my pie, mash and eels.... On the rare times I'm back 'home' I try to have this delectable dish as often as possible...and have been known to have it twice in the same day....resulting in a somewhat queasy and long train journey home. Imagine my joy when I was advised that Manzes do a HOME DELIVERY SERVICE!! My depression is no more....I've tried and highly recommend this amazing gift from the Gods (which lets face it unless you're a Londoner you just wouldn't get it!?) and the clever people do exactly what it says on the box. It's reliable, reasonably priced, superbly packaged and just tastes perfect. Happy Days are here again. Well twice a month anyway. Cheers chaps!! Keep up the good work. Sending big hugs and much love for this ❤️❤️❤️

This place is a throwback to a simpler time. The pie is pie. Don't even think of asking what's in the pie (though Sweeney Todd fans will like the fact that there's a barber shop two doors down). Don't even ask what's in the mash - it's just mash. It even comes with liquor, an (alcohol-free) parsley infused green gloop. The restaurant is decorated with white and green tiles and a plaque on the wall announces that it has been in business since 1902. This food definitely won't get foodies raving - it is pretty much as basic as it gets but this is its beauty. Pie mash and liquor is an East End delicacy - in a city that is swamped with foods from every corner of the planet, this feels like the last bastion of London's own food. And when you compare it to the anodyne Itsus, Eats and Leons a stone's throw away, there is no comparison. Manze is real and everyone should eat there at least once. Oh, and bring cash!

Ok so your having a day in the city London enjoying the walking and the sights hmm, feeling a little hungry any where near the Tower bridge right take a stroll down Tower bridge road heading south and keep walking until you came to a parade of shop's on your right hand side you will see Manze.Manze is the place to get the original Pie and Mash and parsley sauce liquor, there is nothing fancy here so don't expect the plush look but then this is the real London deal, when i arrived they were waiting outside, and queuing but not long to wait and i was in, and sat down to eat well have to say more than worth the wait, the food was spot on real London grub and at just over three pounds English sterling you could not get better, the place was buzzing and i was lucky to sit next to a real london family, and we all had a great laugh and enjoyed the grub, at over 100 year the Manze pie and mash is as strong as ever and made me feel proud to eat and meet in the city that never sleep, so walk, talk, meet, eat and most of all enjoy London.

Terrible experience! I work nearby and used to go with coworkers. Their Sunday Roast is excellent so I made a reservation to go with friends on Sunday 22nd September. They offered me two slots at 3:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. I chose 15.30 and it was confirmed by Sonata. When the day arrived I called early in the morning to let them know if we could postpone it to 4:30 pm because my friend was late, they told me it was no problem. Our surprise was that when we arrived at the place they told us that they did not have our reservation, despite having a written confirmation, and that the kitchen was closed (even though you could see the plates of food coming out of the kitchen to the tables) and that this Sunday was its last day open. If they close the kitchen at 4.30pm, how can they offer us to eat at 5pm? A whole bunch of lies...they left us stranded and didn't bother to offer an apology. The bar staff was the most unhelpful. We had to leave the places without eating and the whole experience was a great disappointment. I will never set foot in this place again... And I absolutely do not recommend it to anyone. They don't value clients!

One of the best places to try and learn about exclusive English wines, couple this with Julia's passion and knowledge of the products you can't get any better. Add the passion of the recent explosion of gin into the UK revival what's not to think you should not arrange a visit?
