Mantanah Thai Cuisine in Croydon

Found this place the other night, Having recently moved locally we stumbled upon here. We really weren’t disappointed, We were welcomed in and the food was exceptional and a very reasonable price. Our new favourite local restaurant

Great food and atmosphere. We’ve had some issues in the past ordering take away from them through Just Eat. Best way is to dine in the restaurant or order take away from them directly. The food is worth it.

Had the pad thai and the dumplings, both excellent. Can recommend.

Absolutely sensational, authentic Thai food! The staff are lovely, they seem to really love their jobs and their customers. This was our first visit as we're new to the area but we'll definitely be coming back again and again!

Very nice Thai food, enjoyed the 6 course meal. Attentive waitress. Superb decor and service. Relaxing ambient atmosphere.

We used the restaurant’s app to order a takeaway for delivery. The app took payment and there is nothing that says the restaurant is closed. Tried to contact restaurant when order not delivered only to find it’s closed!! Why can’t the restaurant just update their app-really frustrating we’ll have to now wait until they’re open and try to get our money back. We won’t bother ordering from here again-really poor

I'm pretty greedy so know all my local hidden gems, I'm also a fan of fresh seafood, so Mantannah has it all, it's a very small restaurant so you may have to book in advance but it's always a good buy and close to home.

Ordered though an app - super tasty food with generous portions with some more premium seafood dishes on offer. Fresh and delivered in good time. Definitely recommend and will order again!

Really nice family-owned Thai restaurant. Not a bad dish on the menu! Caters for those who like spicy food and for those who don't. Great vegetarian options. I love their Tom Yum Hed and Jungle Curry Jay. Friendly staff. Serves alcohol. Home delivery available.

A cosy and comfortable dining room with friendly staff. A wide menu selection with a lot of vegetarian options. Every dish we had was high quality. Throw in a nice bottle of wine and it's a winning combination. Definitely worth a visit if you're around Norwood Junction.

Claimed that they lost our order (we have email receipts) and then refused to remake it. And only told us 1 hour after accepting our order. Very disappointing.

I eat in, or order takeaway, from this lovely restaurant all the time. It's an absolute gem! I don't know what the negative reviews are talking about - I've been to Thailand and eaten Thai food for years, and always enjoy the food here. The staff are so friendly and kind - they always go out of their way to accommodate my dietary requirements (I'm coeliac). The food is reasonably priced and delivery is always pretty quick. Highly recommend it.

Great food, as always, and good drinks list, combined with excellent service. Now all Covid-19 safe too. The waitress even concocted a new cocktail on-the-fly, as they did not have all the ingredients for one off the menu, and it was very good. Possibly the best Thai food for miles around, certainly our experience for over 20 years coming to this great place. Took our neighbour along recently as they'd never eaten Thai before, and they were impressed. Regrettably, no Thai wines available at present, which is a real pity. Not clear exactly what the supply chain issue is causing the shortage. They even deliver their lovely food, which we make some use of.

Lovely authentic food. Went there with a friend the other evening, its a fairly small restaurant but very cosy! Enjoyed everything we've ordered. Our waitress was absolutely lovely, we've had a great chat at the end of the meal. Lots of food for £70, really affordable.

Came with my family and the food was such a disappointment. Send two meals back including what promised to be a green curry but was just veg and coconut milk. Salad was a shame also

Ordered a takeaway for delivery, Penang with Chicken, Phad Prig Khing, Sideways King Prawn, all 3 dishes had great flavour and very moorish, will definitely be ordering again.

Ordered a takeaway for my birthday treat, delivery man came with the wrong food, we rang the restaurant and tried to explain they said it wasn’t there problem and was not willing to help as through Uber eats. We ordered another meal from a different place that arrived okay, they then rang back and said your food was here and forgot to give it to the driver. We have been going here for years but unfortunately they have lost a customer!! Poor customer service what a shame!

Great local Thai restaurant and it is such good value. Staff are always very friendly and service is quick. Would definitely recommend eating in over getting a takeaway

Great food really good vegetarian range lovely people

I was really looking forward to having Thai food. Every dish was underwhelming. I have eat all thees before dishes many times. Green green ok not much sauce chicken wasn’t the best. Veg was a little pepper bamboo sprouts and a couple cubes of aubergine. The salad was hot temp I have never had it like that before. Then noddles we’re bland and completely stuck in one blob. The glutinous rice is stick but we just ended up with two blocks of rice that had to be cut through to serve chunks of. It’s was both over sticky and undercooked. Any sauce the rice absorbed. There was some Thai basil and chilli. But this was a just a bland mushy plate of food. I want to enjoy. It’s was a disappointment.

I was disappointed with my food. There wasn't enough prawns in my Pad Thai as I received in the past. The quality wasn't as good as I received in the past either so I know their standards as Iv'e thoroughly enjoyed their food very much.

We had veggie starter for 2 (although one had prawn in) Thai green curry which was excellent (should be warned it doesn’t automatically come with rice) free crackers and a pad Thai. All very good and very prompt order time 👍

Pad Thai unfortunately lacked flavour.

Although the food was early, it seems it was at the expense of the accuracy of our order. Part of our starter was missing, there was no chilli dipping sauce for the starter platter, and I was sent a green curry instead of the red curry that I ordered. For quite a straightforward order, this was really disappointing.

Disappointed. Been coming here for nearly 15 years, but since management change few years back customer satisfaction has severely deteriorated. Ordered 90 quid worth if takeaway, and the manageress did not have the customer care or savvy to offer us an alternative, since they'd 'run out of prawn crackers' at 7 pm. The exact same thing I was told on last 2 visits!!!!

Been coming here for close to 15 years, but sadly last few visits has left a lot to be desired. Since the management change. Ordered 90 quid of takeaway for collection tonight, and they had no prawn crackers. At 7 pm. Ok, that's fine, but a savvy caring manageress would have offered an alternative, to ensure customer satisfaction.

Disappointed! Tasteless and turns up cold ended up poring then tiny amount of sweet chilli sauce they give you over it to give it some flavour not gonna come back

We visited on Christmas Eve. They were super accomodating of the change in reservation. Great service and lots of options for vegetarians. Would definitely come here again

Love this restaurant, first time I’ve had the food delivered to home and it was just as tasty.

Delivery was a bit late and the food was only luke warm when it arrived. The veggie spring rolls were flavourless, the papaya salad was alright though but the pad Thai was a complete disappointment. Only 4 prawns in the whole dish and barely any veg and no sign of peanut and zero flavour, it is literally just greasy noodles. Paid £20 for the meal, complete waste of money.

Ordered from Justeat, food was meant to arrive within 45-65 mins. 80 mins after ordering, I got through to the restaurant and they informed me my food hadn't been cooked but it would be with me within another 20 mins. 30 mins later, we got through to them to be told the food was ready and going out for delivery - 6 mins drive. 20 mins later, still no food, called the restaurant to be told that they couldn't tell me when the food would arrive. Total time at this point was well over 2 hours at this point so we decided to cancel the order, but by this time, it was too late to order anywhere else. The order was refunded, but the reason given was "couldn't find the address" which is frankly just insulting. Considering the whole point of a takeaway is to remove stress, this restaurant failed spectacularly.

Everything is delicious but I gave 4* because my pork order didn't fill even half the container which was definitely not worth the £6.95. Compared to chicken which had a full container for the same price.

Great Thai food! Our papaya salad was particularly good, a delicious mix of sweet and savoury and spicy! I also greatly enjoyed my garlic chicken. Would highly recommend.

Really tasty. The red and Green currys could have a bit more spice for my liking as very sweet and mild but overall really nice.

Terrible food quality! Every single item was sweet horrible tasting, despite specific request for extra spicy add on! Besides, the food was terrible quality - Mish mash sweet noodles, hard sweet satay chicken, sweet Thai green curry and hard exterior / sweet interior spring rolls! Would not recommend to anyone!

Delivery is always early, never late. My only gripe is the Egg fried rice was unfortunately soggy!!

Mantanah is awesome usually, but not today. Food was delivered 20mins late. The only thing that tasted right was the ribs. Pad Thai and Singapore Noodles were under-seasoned, the food was lukewarm, there was literally.no Pad Thai flavour in the meal and the noodles in both dishes were clumped together. Easily the worst meal they have cooked for me in years. Hope this is a one-off fail.

This has always been our go to Thai restuarant for last 20 years food is always good, tasty and delivered on time..Forgot the dips but brought them straight away ...Highly recommended

Red curry was a bit tasteless green curry was better .. over all it was ok

Really tasty and authentic. I will order again definitely especially the steamed seabass. Yum.

Maybe just an off day, the soup was bland and the beef in it wasn't tender. 'On diet' talapia portion was small, perhaps that's their interpretation of 'diet'. The squid and prawn starter was good. I may try again and order something else as the menu has lots of choice.

Really disappointing. We’ve always loved Mantannah, but tonight the food took an hour and a half to get here and was cold. The quality of the dishes were not as they have been...not sure why this has changed.

Flavour was good but could do with a little more salt. Meat portions were light on the meat. Fix the portion sizes and it would be full marks all round. Menu says it they deliver out to 3 miles but didn't deliver to CR0 2EA. Had to use a friend that lived closer. Please fix.

Absolutely shocking! Over 1 hour late, no answer at restaurant just voicemail. Food arrived cold and oily. Main curry dish missing, unseasoned rice noodles instead of egg noodles. Just terrible and utterly disappointing. Don't waste your money here!

I'm giving it 2 stars instead of 1 because i usually order from here and it's lovely. Not sure if they are just busy tonight but was very very dissapointed. The soup had spilled somehow into all the other dishes, so everything was soggy. It was cold, not fresh tasting either. The prawn crackers were stale! I hope they haven't been taken over as I'm reluctant to buy again now.

Great food as always, delivered hot.....but for some reason I paid a delivery fee but had meet driver at the entrance to my block of apartments, which was very inconvenient.

Excellent interesting Thai food as always.

Parts of the meal were delicious: the mango salad was excellent and super spicy, the tofu was well cooked and the mock duck tasty. They used a wide variety of vegetables and fresh spices, both of which were well cooked. The Jungle Curry would have benefited from more sauce and the pad Thai was very sweet, but not unpleasant. The pumpkin starter was nice but not as described, it was more like pumpkin chips done in batter with rather than the described 'shredded pumpkin' and was nothing like a 'nest'. We'll give it another go but will largely order different dishes.

Vegetarian mixed starter was a bit soggy and oil (possibly didn’t travel well) Very tasty mains though (I had a duck red curry with pineapple, my girlfriend an aubergine red curry). Service from restaurant was very good when I called up to check they received our order

Delicious and unusual range of dishes. I had the duck with pineapple, and the spicy catfish znd jackfruit stir fry with sticky rice. Will absolutely order again

Food was late, they forgot dishes and the pad Thai and rice were very dry. When I called to discuss the missing item I was hung up on twice. Terrible all around.

Mantanah Thai is our favourite Thai in the area. Food is always delicious.

Food was 40 minutes late, which is understandable given it's a Friday night, but I got entirely the wrong order. On trying to ring up it was literally impossible to get through and goes straight to voicemail. The food that did arrive was great though...

You always get lovely authentic Thai food from Mantanah.

Solid food. Mixed starters a little uninspired

Really tasty food which was full of flavour, especially the Fish Cakes and the Garlic Fever. Service was also good.

The pad Thai was bland. Everything else was delicious. We called and asked what happened and they said they didnt have all the ingredients. We would prefer to have had a call about this in advance. The rest was yummy, we will order again for sure but avoid the pad Thai.

The food itself was lovely, but it was super spicey so we couldn't finish our meals and suffered a bit the day after. So best to choose a non-spicey dish unless you have a cast-iron stomach!

Soooo thrilled that they do mock meat for those that do not just want to eat vegetables as a vegetarian. Seriously amazing food, and great to have a full meal not having to just eat sides as a veggie. Really appreciate the effort put into vegetarian meals which other restaurants very much lack.

So, so good. Get the panang and the pad thai. Green curry tofu is good too. Online menu is confusing (why is the papaya salad in veggie mains all the way at the bottom and not in starters? But whatever, still a great place and worth all your money. Best most authentic thai food in south london 👌 Thanks so much!
