Rice N Spice in Croydon

Curries were always good here when the restaurant was called Rice n Spice but since the change of name and menu the food is possibly even better with an eye on the fresh ingredients, herbs and spices. Now they definitely stand out from the crowd for exquisite flavours and excellence. I highly recommend a visit even if it is a bit off the beaten track, a really nice place to eat out with friends or a special occasion. Delicious.

korma did not taste right! only had mint sauce when with other orders always have a selection of sauces with poppadoms shame did not enjoy it!

Estimated delivery time was 45-60 mins. Actually took 75 mins. When arrived wasn’t particularly hot and didn’t taste very nice at all.

ordered 2 hours before needed. arrived 45 minutes late and was stone cold and greasy. luckily the microwave came in handy!

Food all tasted fine but there was a piece of what looked and felt like wall/ceiling plaster approx 1cm sq in the naan bread. Called restaurant when food was 15 mins late and was told it was on its way and would be a couple of minutes. Very disappointing.

I feel like maybe the chef has changed as well as the management which is a shame. Used to love this place but the last few times we’ve ordered or collected we’ve not enjoyed the food, had things missed from our order, the service hasn’t been great etc. There’s just no consistency anymore 🙁 I think I’ll be going elsewhere from now 👎🏼

Lamb from mixed grill tasted fowl. King prawn were not firm but soft and the taste was awful. Seriously considering calling council to suggest they send an inspection team.

Food too over 2 hours from when we ordered and was over an hour late than the estimated delivery. didn't receive the free side and poppadoms as promised with spending over £25. Resturant also missed a mint sauce I ordered too but we got a complimentary bottle of coke. Food was quute tasteless. Rubbish

And I got my free tub of herbed onions today 👌🏻😋👌🏻so even better. First time ordering from here and will order again. The food was really delicious. The special offer of a free side dish when ordering over £25 wasn't delivered which is a shame. Shouldn't advertise this if it won't get delivered.

Ordered from here because my usual curry house was closed on Mondays. Arrived early and was very hot and delicious. The flavours were amazing and the dishes weren't swimming in oil. Will definitely use again.

Hi, We have always been a fan of this resto but unfortunately tonight was a let down :( The chicken on the biryani was off. We noticed it halfway thinking it might be the sauce but it was the chicken instead. My husband now is having a funny tummy after the meal. The other chicken tikka we ordered could have been cooked a little bit more, it was so pale, and does not look appetising. I’m so sorry to be giving this review but hopefully it will be used to improve quality of food. Delivery was 20 minutes early which is a delight! Thank you.

Ordered food for my mum she had nothing positive to say – very disappointed in quality and the delivery was extremely later than estimated.

Alright meal, nothing special. Naan was incredibly thick and doughy in parts. Order was 20mins late. The currys were not bad they just lacked that umph and depth of flavour.

Food not up to scratch. Stale poppadums, and curry which should be mild was far too hot. Delivery was over 30 mins late with no apology from the restaurant. Will not use again.

Early so brill 👌 Great polite delivery man as always. Food perfect as always 👌 But they didn't give me my free tub of onions this time 😩And I did ask, they gave me a free tub of some green liquid stuff 😒Don't eat that. But meal It's Self was Perfect as always. They should think about the £1.00 delivery charge they add on though as it's a Little over proved if you live two roads up from the actual shop it's self, so maybe they could cut the delivery fee if live under a mile or Something. But food was perfect as always 😀 Be same again next weekend 😝

Could been a little quicker, plus a charge of £1.00 to go less then half a mile isn't right really. Also each time I keep asking for a tub of free herb onions but never get them 😒😒 And they seem to Add on time to your delivery to so they need to deliver a Little quicker, only things putting me off is the delivery charge of a £1.00 and the fact they take ages to come. Oh and they don't give me the free correct pot of herb onions 😌 But food is perfect every time. But may change restuntrants if they don't fix the the things stated

Could deliver earlier, more so as live less then half a mile, and shouldn't really charge a £1.00 delivery charge for less then a mile. Food was excellent as always, but they could deliver earlier really, so that's a shame. I actually got my free tub of herbed onions this time whoop whoop and they were lovely so thank you 👌😝 hope to Get these each time now. Great food 👌👌👌 just need to drop the delivery charge for such short distances and try to deliver a little quicker. 😝

Food good value and delivery was bang on time. Rezala lamb as delicious as ever. Pasanda was very tomatoey, not as good as usual. Loved the onion bhajis.

The only good thing to say about this place is the service of the delivery guy. The food was inedible - popadoms were stale, potatoes had a really weird taste, vegetable madras was so oily and could just about eat the rice. £20 down the drain - won’t be ordering here again.

Overall good food, though the poppadoms didn't crunch, like the pack had been open for a while so didn't eat them. The rest was nice.

Despite us leaving clear instructions for finding our address the driver “couldn’t find it” and by the time we received our food it was completely cold. Not only that, but the boxes were all only about half full of food. Called the restaurant and had terrible customer service, and apparently they “can’t refund online payments”. Ended up having to microwave the food to make it edible. We have enjoyed the food from here in the past but won’t be ordering from here again.

We have ordered with these guys before and eaten in the restaurant. Usually the food is to a high standard hence why we use them but tonight they have really let us down. It arrived 20 mins late and came luke warm So we could not enjoy it. We also ordered a bottle if coke but diet coke was delivered instead. The king prawn bhuna was perfect - it had so much flavour. There were only 3 king prawns but they were absolutely HUGE and was more than enough and it tasted so beautiful. I always wish there was more sauce in bhunas because I just love the flavour, but I suppose it's meant to be a dry dish. The poppadoms were really thin, light and crispy which is exactly how I like them - one was slightly over cooked just in the middle and tasted a bit oily but I was sent 3 and only paid for 2 so I'm not complaining. The lamb razala is something I've never tried before - it had a huge chilli in it which I avoided but the flavour of the dish was great, it had a kick without being too hot and overpowering. Very authentic India flavour. I've tried so many Indian restaurants since moving to Coulsdon, trying to match up to what I was used to, and this is definitely the best. The food was hot and the service was very good. It was delivered within an hour and the delivery man was friendly and really polite. I also got a free bombay aloo - thank you! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is a fabulous Indian restaurant. We use them regularly for take aways and like to eat at the restaurant when we have friends round. The food is delicious and with several dishes that are not usually seen in indian restaurant so a nice variety. Excellent service from friendly staff and as it is non-licensed you can buy your beer or wine from the nearby convenience store and enjoy a very good value meal. Easy parking too

We ordered a takeaway from here (naan, Bombay potatoes, chicken korma, madras, rice and chapati) and it was delicious! Will definitely return.

Have tried this restaurant twice - once with a group of four in the restaurant and once ordering a takeaway. Food was superb both times. Most of the dishes are mild but you can ask for them to be prepared spicier. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

The delivery was really quick, but the food wasn't very pleasant ...stringy pink looking chicken, soggy samosa & cold rice the only thing that was nice was the nan bread but again that was cold. I would have rather waited longer and had nicer food.

Dined in the restaurant. Absolutely gorgeous Indian food, beautifully presented and tasted amazing - not as heavy as Indian food often is. There's no license, so you take your own alcohol, which is great in my opinion as that makes it a really affordable night out. Staff were lovely too. A hidden gem!

We took a punt based on the good reviews and we were rewarded with great service and food. All food is generously portioned and freshly made. No faults at all. Service excellent too. We will definitely be going back soon!

This is a really great indian restaurant. The food is fantastic and quite varied, service is good. It is not licensed so you can buy your own booze from the store nearby and keep the cost of our meal down. Convenient free parking just outside. We have recommended them to several friends and have always had good feedback

Stingy portion sizes for the price. There was too much sugar in the curries. We ordered the daal, shahi chicken, saag paneer and Will not be ordering again. Restaurant service not applicable as we didn't interact so going midway and giving 3.

Absolutely delicious, still very hot when it arrived, the chicken was beyond soft and juicy, you got free veggie curry and salad, we will defiantly keep ordering from them - the best curry in our area, the driver was also very sweet

This is our 'go to' restaurant for delivery, food always very good, our friends & neighbours use & enjoy the food too. I was aware that there was a different menu when dining in the restaurant so wanted to try it. Yes, the menu is different & has some lovely dishes - can't recall them all but not the usual run of the mill options, though they are there too. It was a Saturday evening & there were 2 other people already there. Poppadoms & relishes came quickly & we placed our order.........and waited, and waited, and waited, and waited. During this time there were endless takeaway/delivery orders departing. This is where the priority seems to be. I know we were not in a particular rush but we must have waited over an hour before there was any sign of food. BTW - the food is absolutely great, the naan bread was as light as a puffy pillow, plus you can take your own drinks. Would we go again - yes, yes. The staff are very friendly too, they gave me a birthday ice-cream - thank you. It would just be nice if the staff communicated regarding delays in food appearing.

Family visit to celebrate wife's birthday after a recommendation from a work colleague. It is a little off the beaten track but quality of the food is simply excellent - is there a better curry restaurant in the area? Great friendly service. When eating in, you bring your own alcohol, so makes for a very reasonable evening. First stop for a curry going forward. Don't be put off by the location.

Stale poppadoms. Who tries to save money by serving up old poppadoms?? Curries were boring in one case and downright horrible in the other. We didn't finish the food, unheard of in our house.

Food turned up 45 minutes late. Apparently this was because they only had one driver. If you were aware of this, adjust your delivery times accordingly rather than over promising. Food was just a little bland and wasn't particularly hot when it arrived. Certainly won't be using Rice N Spice again or recommending it to anyone else. Unimpressed. One star feels too generous.

Another great meal with the family, really can't praise this place enough. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Bring your own drinks so save a few quid. Tried the sea bass, which was excellent and a lamb dish with whole garlic, again was really good, also had the usual Chicken Tikka Marsala, korma, naan and rice etc. All food was hot and tasted superb. Never had a takeaway but i am sure that this would be equally as good. If you have not tried this place i urge you to give it a go !!

Great curries brilliant service - whether you phone up or pop in the staff are always helpful. Lots to choose from and reasonably priced. Never sat in for a meal although looks very nice but always been happy with meals as take aways!

What can I say; when you love a curry and find a little hidden gem, you gotta share it. You bring your own alcohol and let them do what they know best. They are delightful and always bring out or add to our take away something for us to try to expand our palate. Well worth a try.

I ordered a take away from this place through just eat. The order came earlier than expected however .... My onion bhajis were freezing cold and like cardboard, my naan bread was cold and worst of all my chicken was RAW!! I called them to complain and it took them 5 minutes of telling me I hadn't ordered from them to find my order. They simply said we will raise you a refund. I asked how long it takes he said he didn't know, and j asked that to do with the bad food and he said do what you want throw it away if you like. Not even an apology!! Very disappointed

Beautiful Indian Food.. No grease what so ever, always piping hot and delivered in time. Full of flavour and spices and plenty of chicken. Never had such nice food as from Rice and Spice.. Butter Chicken is to die for.
