A group of 13 women had a Pensioner’s Lunch here which was two courses for £14.95. There was a large choice of dishes, the food didn’t take long to come out and the young waiters were very obliging. We were in a lovely room with Wedgwood Blue walls. Incidentally, the chips were some of the best I have ever tasted!

I last ate here in the Spring of 2022 when the restaurant was beginning to get back to normal after a succession of lockdowns. It has been so good to come back and find it fully operational once more. The menu is exceptional! I enjoyed a wonderful goat's cheese and beetroot salad starter followed by seafood linguine. But it's a good thing I'm staying in the hotel for a few more days, because there are so many equally tempting things on the menu! Service is friendly and attentive yet discreet, and all-in-all eating in this pretty oak panelled restaurant is a highly enjoyable experience. Definitely recommended!!

We are in the Manor Restaurant during our stay at Muthu Bestest Brook. The A La Carte menu had plenty of choices. My favourite starter was the Gin Cured Smoked Salmon which was delicious. The choice of mains was wide and varied and hard to pick a favourite between Sea Bass, Chicken with Tarragon Sauce , Calves Liver and the Sirloin Steak cooked perfectly to my requirements. Portions were generous and testing as the deserts were I couldn't always manage one!! The staff were friendly and professional just as I would expect. Thank you everyone 😀

Food is really good. Freshly cooked. Personal very friendly and helpful. I’ve been asked how I’d like my duck cooked - didn’t have that in many restaurants. Vegetables could have been cooked just a bit more. My husband hat a chefs crumble for desert - was great but peaches weren’t fresh - so that’s the missing point. Everything else was perfect.

We booked a table for one of their Christmas party nights back in March 2020. In November it was obvious it wasn’t going to go ahead and confirmed that was the case in December. Despite numerous phone calls and promises from Simon (apparently second in charge) that we would be refunded our deposits. We still haven’t had a refund! Having worked in a hotel reception myself I know how easy it is to do a refund, but for some reason they just won’t give us our money back!

During an extended stay at Belstead Brook Hotel, I have learned to greatly appreciate the outstanding food and service offered by the team at the Manor Restaurant. The menu is a judicious mix of innovative, beautifully presented international fare and traditional comfort food, all served in the historic oak-panelled restaurant, the more informal piano-bar, or - weather-permitting - the beautiful grounds. Afternoon tea in the garden is a wonderfully bucolic treat, but I've eaten at all times of day from a 7.00am breakfast to a late dinner and always enjoyed great food. Even dining alone isn't intimidating here because of the friendly welcome the staff give all their guests. The lovely grounds and babbling brook make it the perfect wedding venue too! Definitely recommended!

I, and a group of friends, have eaten lunch here on several occasions since lockdown was lifted. We have eaten from the Pensioners Lunch menu and the A La Carte, and have been delighted with every meal. The fact that we have returned so often is testament to the quality of the food and the staff. On Monday, I tried out the afternoon tea. I have enjoyed afternoon tea in some of the best locations in Suffolk, and even in London hotels, but this was equal to some and better than most! Everything was freshly prepared, the warm sausage rolls were unexpected and delicious and Cornish cream is always a delight. I can highly recommend both lunch and afternoon tea....but definitely not on the same day!!

Terrible service - rude, bossy and incompetent. The food was very good but totally ruined by the staff. One young guy with his hair worn on his head was the saving grace - he was polite, helpful and did his job. The Maitre D was a pain in the neck - disorganised, domineering and interrupted our meal a number of times by barking demands for information. The woman who managed the breakfast service was straight from Fawlty Towers. Rude, bossy, telling customers off, telling one family to " go and sit down", but at no point did she explain the way that the service was organised to comply with Covid-19 restrictions. I would rather have a dry sandwich in a layby!

We are staying here do it was easy to dine here as well! What a very pleasant surprise to find ourselves top notch dining. It was fish all the way with my husband opting for the ‘prawn cocktail’ and me, the aged smoked salmon, for our starters. Really lovely. Mine was combined with salad and pomegranate seeds. We both had the sea bass fillet as a main course. What a perfect meal! The fish was delicate yet full of flavour, tender and perfectly combined with the spinach and samphire. And we mustn’t forget Walter, a perfect host. Highly recommended. Oh yes, and by the way, we had roast meals in the bar yesterday. My beef was really rare and tender - a delicious combination it’s hard to find.

Dined here on Sunday evening, party of four. Seated very quickly, after about five minutes our waiter asked if we would like to move to a table in a quieter section as there was a family with a very young baby who clearly wanted feeding. I thought this was a very nice touch, particularly as we hadn't expressed any desire to move. New table was equally nice and we ordered two roasts and two steaks. All the food was of the highest quality and everyone had positive comments. The quality continued once we'd ordered deserts. Restaurant was busy without being overly crowded and everyone was observing social distancing. Never felt hurried, we were in the restaurant just over 2 hours. All in all lovely meal, enjoyed it so much ended up making a booking for a significant birthday while we were there.

Quite honestly, the food here just gets better and better! I am sitting in the restaurant right now, trying to decide whether to make room for dessert or go straight to coffee - a nice dilemma on a lazy Summer evening!I had the perfect starter of Cantaloupe and Parma ham, followed by Two-way Pork with melt-in-the mouth pommes Dauphinoises and al dente green beans accompanied by an excellent Sauvignon blanc. Heaven!!Special thanks to Head Chef Vaas, and to the front of house team of Elvis, Zoe, and Bleona for their discreet but friendly service. Home for me is Geneva from where I have a number of Michelin-starred restaurants within a short drive. The Manor Restaurant can hold its own with any of them!!Postscript: I cracked and ordered a refreshing mango sorbet!

We are lucky to have eaten in some high end places and this hidden treasure was up there with the best. The food was fresh, imaginative and beautifully presented and the staff were friendly and attentive without being pushy. The Tiger prawn starter was the best I've ever had and the Sea bass was stunning. I posted a review of the Manor Restaurant in the Spring, when it re-opened with an innovative new international menu. Today, however, I ordered the quintessentially English Mixed Roast lunch. And it was quite honestly the best roast dinner I've ever had. Perfectly cooked beef, pork (crackling and all!), lamb and chicken, in a wonderful rich gravy was served with a beautifully-risen Yorkshire pudding, and savoy cabbage, french beans, parsnip, broccoli, carrots, and - of course - roast potatoes! Yes - all of that!! Served piping hot, my only regret is that I couldn't eat it all! But, trust me, it was the PERFECT Sunday lunch, and offered at an unbelievable £17.50. (Had I been less greedy, I could have had a single meat from £13.50!!) This beautiful period restaurant with its friendly staff would be a great venue for a special - but relaxed - Sunday lunch (though it's best to book).

After a difficult few months, the Manor Restaurant has recently re-opened under new management, and the innovative menu is an absolute triumph!! Highly varied, there is truly something for everyone, from comfort-food like calve's liver and bacon served with wilted spinach and mash, to a glorious creamy seafood risotto, everything is beautifully cooked and presented! There is now a full lunch-time menu, including a plethora of healthy salads with an unexpected twist, all of which can be enjoyed as either a starter or main course. Add to that a good wine menu, and I think these guys have a winning formula: high quality at fair prices in a pleasant ambience served by a team that understands the importance of good service. I live on the Franco-Swiss border, where I'm spoilt for choice with the sheer number of affordable Michelin-starred restaurants, but I've enjoyed a few meals from the team at the Manor Restaurant in recent days, and been seriously impressed - the food has been up there with the best! I hope reviewers who have expressed disappointed in recent months will give the new team a chance to show how things have changed. Highly recommended!!

Waitress couldn’t even be bothered to take her hands out of her pockets to speak to us. Not sure how they justify £35 on the voucher for two, and only £11-odd on the day! Oh, that’s right, I asked and was told quite rudely ‘ that’s how it is’. I still can’t believe the crockery they served it up on either! The only half decent thing about the place was the foyer. We 1st visited back in september and we were very impressed with resturant and menu.On our return 4 weeks later were very very disappointed that the A la carte menu had been removed and replaced with what only i can describe as a Pub grub menu.I asked to see the resturant manager [ Sebastian ] who explained he had only been in the job for 2days, [ Nathan ] New head chef who had only been in the job for 2 weeks joined in with our conversation and I got the impression that they had been brought in to get the restaurant and menu back up to a higher standard [ and hopefully reinstate the A la carte menu ] Both men could not have done more to make our stay enjoyable Also I would like to say that bar and restaurant staff preformed well when very short staffed due to Sabastian getting injured while helping out due to a short fall in kitchen staff. We would like to wish Sebastian , Nathan and staff a Positive future at Belstead Brooke and looking forward to seeing you all again. [ hopefully once A la carte menu is available ]

The new Autumn/Winter menu is a triumph because it comprises innovative, international nouvelle cuisine dishes - beautifully presented works of art - as well as reassuring comfort food like steak-and-ale pie. Little touches like crisp starched table-linen and napkins and comfortable chairs lift the ambience beyond what would be expected at the modest price-point (around £13 - £18 for main dishes).

Having visited this hotel once or twice a year for some 10 years, we have seen many changes of fortunate for this pleasant hotel. Last year we were seeing the signs of upgrade with the new owners - particularly with the staff levels, and the much improved restaurant, with very positive vibes for the future. What a difference a year makes, in fact an almost complete reversal - low staff levels ( and mostly unhappy, which shows in their approach to customers). Restaurant was very poor, not many tables occupied, people preferring the bar menu. Food was obviously microwaved, not freshly cooked, and strange combinations, i.e a wedge of sweet potato, and peas with the lamb shank. My wife's sea bass fillet was inedible, and certainly not fresh. We were however compensated with a free bottle of wine. Breakfast buffet looked ver tired - they have done away with warm plates. No coffee or tea served at table now - self service in heavy mugs. So sad that the traditions of old style personal attention to guests is disappearing. Self service, burger and chips, and disinterested staff seem to be the modern trend

My objective was to find a relaxing hotel with a spa and swimming pool. Objective achieved and I was very please with the hotel and happy to stay there again. The rooms were comfortable and the restaurant had a varied menu to suit all. I was even able to take a nice walk around the grounds to get some fresh air.

There were 29 people at a meal and our AGMWe have never had such a diabolical mealIt looked good on paper and in reality was awfulThe chicken Caesar salad had no portion control, some people had lots of lettuce and little chicken and others loads of chicken and no saladThe croutons were just soggy breadThe pork tasted OK, the sauce with the salmon was tasteless and the roast potatoes were raw. The veg were mediocre as were the dessertsIn all we paid £1000 plus about another £500 for bottles of wineThe waitresses did their best but it was their first night(!) and the kitchen badly let them downThe event was booked in August and the room paid for and the meal was paid for 2 weeks in advanceThe bar bills were paid on the nightWe paid good money for absolute rubbishWe will NEVER go there again and 29 people will tell others how bad it was

We were having a drink in the bar prior to eating, there was a bar food menu, we read it and said how good it was, so were looking forward to the restaurant. We had book via reception, unfortunately they had not told the restaurant staff, Christina was very good and sorted out a table without any trouble. It was a fair priced menu, £20 for 2 courses, but what strange choices there were, it was just all a little odd, nothing really sounded appealing. I had a watermelon and feta salad, 5 chunks of feta and watermelon on a handful of rocket with a balsamic drizzle, not a great salad, I then had tortellini which was the most normal thing on menu! It wasn't as good as the packets I buy from the supermarket, but was hotel made I think. The restaurant is a nice place, very comfortable. If you want to eat in this hotel stay in the bar.

This part of the hotel is probably the best presented with recent(ish) very substantial dining chairs, proper tablecloths and cutlery all within a nice period relaxed environment. I am only taking this from the alcove leading to the restaurant as the entrance and exterior areas do leave a lot t be desired (which I have covered in the main hotel review).Yes you can get cheaper set menus but for £20 - £25 this offers good value if the food is good, which it is.The breakfast spread is very good , covering all the usual cereals, various fruit options, good hot cooked English selection and bread/pastries. Again this offer v good value for money and there were sufficient staff around at all times.

Great hotel in Ipswich, good food and the swimming pool, sauna and steam room are also very good.My wife made use of the spa and said that she had the best massage and facial she'd ever had, bearing in mind we have visited Thailand on numerous occasions, this is not a comment to be taken lightly. We are members of MGM Infnty and used our points to stay here but looking at the tariffs I would say that is is excellent value for money.

We had been bought a voucher for afternoon tea and chose this venue as it looked and sounded lovely. Although the foreign receptionist was difficult to understand the appearance of the hotel was lovely. We took a walk through the grounds which was ok but they could do a lot more with them. For a fairly large hotel/spa, we were surprised there wasn't a choice of tea, we weren't given a choice of white or brown bread nor choice of fillings. The crusts had been removed in an attempt to make it look like a traditional afternoon tea but the fillings were poor (we had to ask what they were as no guidance was offered), pre packed cheese slice which had clearly been out of the fridge a while, egg mayo, fatty ham and tomato, Brie/bacon/cranberry all looked like they had been thrown together without care. The scones were over done (we didn't have a choice but just given fruit ones) but the butter was presented nicely, the cream delicious and the jams good quality. There was no thought given to the cakes either, chunks of low quality Victoria sponge or lemon sponge. The tea was nice and strong as we had asked for but nobody came back to check all was ok, even though they were continuously passing near our table, and we had to find somebody to ask for more tea. Not an awful experience by any means but would not recommend afternoon tea here

After arriving at reception and saying we had booked in for afternoon tea and given instruction to the restaurant it went down hill from there on standing around like lemons as there was no meet and greet at the restaurant and when someone did finally turn up there was no welcome at all and after a twenty minute wait they brought our tea to us followed by five minutes later by our food which was very bland and low key finger sandwiches with crust still on very dry cakes and as for the scones very plain. As for the staff once we had been served they where never seen again not even checking to ask if every thing was fine with the food or if we needed anything else.As we had paid thirty four pounds for this experience it was not money well spent and would be very reluctant to recommended or go back

Set menu £20 for 2 courses and additional grill options. We had sirloin steak which was a generous serving and well cooked medium rare and chicken stuffed with asparagus, a little dry but I requested some extra sauce which was brought quickly. Cheese was ok a cheddar, a blue and brie. Plenty of dessert choices too. Lovely comfortable chairs and good ambiance. Thought the staff were great both in the evening and at breakfast.

Elegant, nice, quiet and, after trying several options in Ipswich we decided that dining in Manor restaurant was, all in all, the best option. Very well designed menus where we always found good options for the whole family.

Stayed 5 nights and ate here one night. It was so good we booked the next night too !The staff were very effective but not too overbearing. The decor is Tudor which gives it a grand atmosphere. The only criticism I have is the paper serviettes. If you're going to have linen tablecloths, ditto the napkins as it hardly costs any more to launder and will give a better impression.

I have reviewed the adjoining hotel previously, it's well placed, perhaps lacking in charm and atmosphere, but is quiet and clean and can't really ask for more. However the restaurant isnt and the staff were bored and the food even more so.

It was with a degree of trepidation that we booked dinner here during our stay in Suffolk, because nearly all the National Trust reviews were truly scathing. Although the hotel itself is more than a little tired, the restaurant exudes splendour as soon as you walk in. The décor is fresh and tasteful, the seats are clearly new, the tables well set and welcoming, and the staff pleasant and attentive. We opted for steaks, which were cooked exactly as ordered. Summer pudding was delicious and the selection of cheeses was varied and generous. Wine prices are reasonable such that two 250ml glasses amount to only a little over 2/3 the price per bottle. Our only critcism is that there was no main fish course.

Wonderful for breakfast, we had a private room for dining and it was delicious. Excellent staff. We had a problem with two missing main courses, we received a visit from the manager and apology with a bottle of bubbly. Otherwise they let us decorate the room and the 3 -courses were excellent.

More drugs than a Colombian speedboat. This place is dirty. Weeds everywhere, dirty bathrooms apart from the top of the cistern that gets sniffed clean every 5 minutes. Awful, awful place and worse customers. This is an absolute den of filth.

This use to be a brilliant Turkish restaurant, we always felt it was the best and most authentic in town, but now it is anything but. Upon arrival it felt different, not so welcoming. We were a part of four, there was another party of eight, but they were finishing when we arrived. The menu did not appear to be a full as it use to be. Prices had been altered by sticking bits of paper on the menu rather than printing off new ones. We waited for about 30 minutes before we were asked for our drinks order, then another 15 for the drinks to arrive. The menu had EFS beer on draugh, but we were told that the menu was wrong and they don't do that any more, only in bottles. We ordered EFS in bottles, but after some time the waiter came back and said they didn't have any so we ended up with Becks. We opted for a cold and hot mezze to be shared between the four of us, but the hot mezze missed and ingredient that then had to be cooked separately and arrived after we'd finished the starter. The main courses were OK, not great and some food was left because it just wasn't good enough such as the side tomato salad on the plate. I had lamb chops, they were skinny and dry and not worth £18.50 (sticky label price increase) for 4. At about 8.30 the heating came on, the radiator next to us got hot. This was during an extremely hot spell of weather with temperatures in the 30's outside. The car payment machine was not working, so we had to dig around amongst us to find cash. Even the bill was amateurist, written on a scape of paper and present in a wooden box with a broken hinge. Throughout our meal we were annoyed by loud music from a function upstairs, sounded like a disco. All-in-all we were unhappy with our experience and will not be going back.

Força Portugal! Authentic coffee shop, 4 people's coffees and toast/croissant for £11. Lots of traditional Portuguese pastries and drinks. I would return if in Ipswich.
