Been going to the Manor House cafe for a long time but was very disappointed with today’s visit (06/11/2024). Whilst the food is still good they have brought in a new policy with the tea they serve. Instead of getting a pot of tea you now get a tea bag and a pot of hot water. Fair enough you might think. However when I asked why they were doing this, the answer was ‘people ask for more hot water and are therefore getting an extra cup of tea for free’. How petty and how bad for business. £1.95 is not cheap for one tea bag and a little milk. The staff should not refuse extra hot water (after all, they can’t refuse a glass of tap water) or begrudge an extra ‘free’ cup of tea to customers who are also spending a decent amount on food. I was not alone in my thoughts, several other people were making the same comments. Also, new cafes and coffee shops are opening all the time in Solihull so there is a lot more choice. The Manor House should not be alienating customers like this or they might find they will go elsewhere.

Having regularly visited this restaurant over the last ten years plus, just thought it worth mentioning that the standard is always excellent. Food quality is spot on, hot, tasty and well prepared and presented. The staff are always polite, courteous and efficient Pricing is very competitive Looking for a light bite to each at lunch time- this is the ideal place

You won't find a better and more cost effective place than this anywhere in Solihull or the Midlands. Very very clean, staff are so professional and a joy to be served by but more amazingly is the food on offer and at such a competitive price. This is a café par excellent. No it's not a top of the range restaurant with prices to match,it's a cafe ,a tea room, call it what you like but it outshines its competition by miles. Most lunches are priced at around the £6.95 mark and with a huge selection to choose from from your traditional ploughman's through to goats cheese and on to hot meals at the same price. Breakfast is served until 11.30 am and for around the £9 mark you get everything....and I mean everything (drinks are extra). You can mix and match or go for something smaller or different,it's up to you. Staff are always smiling and helpful while busy. It is a joy to enter such an establishment.

Three times now over the last 5 weeks I have popped into the Manor House for Breakfast just after they have opened. Each time I have asked for a full breakfast, absolutely top range, sausages cooked perfect, bacon the same. Hot beans tomato’s,mushrooms and fried egg with hash brown and two rounds of toast with butter. This place ranks in my top three for a full English breakfast especially in Solihull in a competitive market.

Friendly and efficient service, freshly prepared food in comfortable surroundings both inside and in a peaceful secret garden. We particularly enjoy the sandwiches which are prepared for you to order. A little haven just seconds from the High Street. The café was built onto the Manor House which was built 1485 and its a lovely extension with barn like beams in light wood and apart from the plastic plants hanging from the beams it has a lovely ambience. The staff are efficient and courteous some of them are obviously students they have been well trained and have the right attitude.

Wednesday 1 June 2022, After a shopping spree my friend and I decided we were in need of refreshments and we went to ‘Solihull Manor House’. We entered within and found a nice table for two. We looked at the menu, they did not do a traditional cream tea, but did a sandwich and cake offer which included a drink. My friend had a ham sandwich with a slice of carrot cake and a bottle of chilled dandelion and burdock. I had an egg& cress and mayonnaise sandwich with a slice of coffee and walnut cake and a elderflower presse. The food was nice and very well presented. We spent a nice hour here sitting in the sunshine and enjoying our food.

Dropped in here in search of something not too expensive for lunch - an found it, A traditional tea room style restaurant. You order at a counter (this is not made clear) but thereafter it is all table service. I chose a fish pie, which was as described and very pleasant; well cooked too. Will return and would recommend.

Order at the counter after you’ve found a table. There are two rooms, a noisy one with lovely garden views, and a quieter front one overlooking the High Street. Food is okay, portion sizes not great, but adequate for the price. Hot food is hot enough. Nothing stands out but nothing is bad either! What is good is the wide and flat access to the front room meaning wheelchairs are ok. Plus big loos too.

A great place for a cup of tea and a sandwich. There are two main rooms, one of which has a fully glazed wall so you can pretend you are in the little enclosed garden, even in poor weather. One of the few cafés in the town centre with an enclosed garden / seating area. The building itself is very interesting and usually hosts a number of independent boutiques / traders. Very well located too, right in the centre of Solihull.

Decided to have lunch here on a day out in Solihull. The front room is very nice, not many tables and a nice atmosphere. The room at the back is much busier and noisier. We ordered a jacket potato with cheese and a turkey and cranberry sandwich. Food arrived in good time, it was nice, good value for money, but not amazing, just pretty standard fare. Staff were really nice and friendly though. It was nice enough, I just wasn't blown away.

Cafe is a hidden gem! It is in the old Manor House on the High Street but not everyone knows it is there. Has a lovely sunny secluded garden at the back - lovely to eat al fresco in the warm weather. Food very good. We visit regularly for lunch or afternoon tea.Needs more support as council trying to pinch the garden space so come on everyone!

Whilst Christmas shopping with my husband, thought we’d grab a light lunch. The actual establishment was nice. I noted the prices were reasonable, if not cheap. My husband ordered a toasted cheese and onion sandwich whilst I opted for egg mayonnaise and cress on a brown baguette... As soon as the plates arrived, I immediately realised the prices were cheap for a reason. I hardly ever leave food, however on this occasion I only ate half before I decided to ‘throw in the towel!’ I’d much rather pay more and have something better than cheap, horrible bread and manufactured egg slush. My husband was of the same opinion with regard to his cardboard toastie.

The cafe is inside a beautiful half-timbered building on Solihull's High St. We have often visited it in the past and always enjoyed our visits. Today though was different. We ordered tea and scones. The tea was insipid and the scones were stale. We took them back and replaced them with carrot cake which was edible - just - but not very good. I left some of it because I got bored with the lack of taste. The staff were bored and seemed to lack motivation. We were really disappointed and I think it will be a long time before we visit again.

Went here today with mum, both picked the ‘main meal’ of lasagne, it was ok microwaved but just about ok, but totally shocked at the minute portion. I have an IPhone Se and the portion was 2/3 the size of my phone!!! The ingredients on the plate wouldn’t cost more than 1.50 if that. Felt ripped off to be honest...our first and last visit. Shame as venue is nice. Suggestion would be to focus on your snacks and take your main meals off the menu as what is served is NOT a main meal. Plus the teabags are poor quality! Stirred and stirred tea pot for one. So weak!!

Bought lunch here on Saturday. 2 x Awful Baked Potatoes supposed to be filled with pineapple cottage cheese. A meagre dessert spoonful on each with a couple of pieces of tinned pineapple, added to which they were wrinkled and small and the skins were like trying to eat linoleum. My grandchildrens sandwiches weren't much better. They need to learn that charging nearly £5 for a sandwich warrants decent bread and a quality filling not supermarket sliced bread with some sort of plastic ham out of a packet filling and wrinkled up lettuce that they describe as Salad garnish

Visited here today with some friends, we chose our food and I went ordered mine and another of the party, we both chose the same, corned beef panini, on the menu it was listed as "corned beef, tomatoes and onion panini" it was the only corned beef on the menu so ordered it asking for 2 corned beef panini, when they arrived there was no tomato or onion on them, went back to counter with them only to be told I had not asked for the tomato or onion, surely if you did not want them then you would have said,in all the places I have eaten this has never happened, found their explanation very strange, food was very poor but the coffee was hot but not very strong. Not sure whether I would go back although setting is very pleasant shame the staff are not.

Second time I have visited. First time I visited the sandwich I ordered was unavailable (they waited until 15 minutes after ordering to tell me). As a last minute replacement I ordered a coronation chicken sandwich. Was thin, supermarket bought sliced white bread and rather than proper coronation chicken It was filled with tiny scraps of chicken that had very lightly been covered in mayonnaise and had curry powder sprinkled on it. It was horribly dry and powdery. I put this down to a one off thinking maybe it had quickly been knocked up having run out of proper coronation chicken filling. I left unimpressed and that would have been enough to put me off, however on a recent visit to Solihull it was impossible to get seats anywhere..except here. So my other half twisted my arm into giving it another try. I asked whether the pork sandwich was made from thin slices of sandwich style meat or thick slice/chunks carved from a joint. I was advised it was carved from a joint so ordered roast pork and ape sauce sandwich. I was asked if I wanted stuffing on it too (for which I was charged extra..and this wasn't pointed out). When my sandwich arrived it was one incredibly thin slice of pork (not unlike supermarket bought sandwich meat) with the slightest smearing of apple sauce and a big dollop of microwaved, soggy stuffing again on thin sliced white bread. I had better quality sandwiches back when my mom used to make them for my school lunch box and at almost £5 for a sandwich I would expect much, much better. The hot food options may be better but after two disappointing visits I won't be returning to find out.

Had a really nice piece of cake here, cant remember what is was called but it had cherries in it and was cut from a loaf. So I was surprised about the turkey and cranberry sandwich. I was expecting some thing as lush as the cake in thick granary bread with generous slices of turkey but it was an appallingly thin sandwich in what seemed like economy ready sliced bread. The sandwich measured about 0.5cm in thickness. Good cake and service but disappointing sandwich.

The Manor House in Solihull is a beautiful example of just how old the town is. It is one of the original structures built in Solihull, and is now a thriving tearoom, enjoyed by many people each day. They serve a selection of hot and cold snacks and cakes, and getting a table in there on a weekday can be a struggle a testimony to how successful it is!The Manor House also houses small stalls, and cosmetics and perfume is sometimes on sale there. The House is on High Street, the main shopping street in Solihull, as well as being right next door to Touchwood. It is sometimes a missed treasure amongst modern shops, but so worth a visit!

It would be easy to walk past this historic building and not realise that the tea rooms were located inside. There is a beautiful period panelled room located at the front. At the rear there is a large extension with more tables overlooking the charming garden. On a warm pleasant day you can sit in the gardens and forget that you were in a busy town centre.
