Have visited in the past and been impressed but not this time. Two pleasant young men behind the counter but poor selection of cakes and no scones available. The cakes were mediocre, rather dry and one could not even be called cake, it was sticky and sickly. On the plus side, it is pleasant sitting in the garden.

My friends come here fairly regularly for coffee and cake, sometimes lunch. It is in a lovely village and set in pretty gardens, ideal to sit out in decent weather. The main draw for most customers is the open fire, but sadly this has either not been lit, or has been allowed to die down on our past few visits, and it has been bitterly cold. At this time of year, it is so important to find a warm cosy place and this was, but not lately. Also the outside entrance is starting to look tatty, with debris , weeds and dead plants gathering outside the function room.

We were camping locally and wanted to eat out with our friends and family within walking distance. We visited yesterday as a booked party of 18 people.Caroline the owner was extremely helpful when we were booking and as we were a large party we Pre booked our orders. We we’re all sat together in the side room. All the staff were extremely welcoming and the service was very prompt. The food all came out at the same time and we didn’t have any complaints at all.I had the beef cob and it was beautiful, followed by scone and jam We visited the next day for bacon batches and we received a lovely welcome again and delicious food.Andrew the owner also recommended a local campsite for our next holiday as unfortunately the one we were staying at wasn’t very good.We will definitely return again.

Went there on the back of not getting a place at Reg Taylors in Southwell.(Which is excellent). Thought it's Wednesday so should be 1/2 price during August. (First mistake it wasn't).Ordered a couple of cappuccino coffees (Only available in cardboard cups) and the quiche. It came with a bowl of new potatoes and some salad. Me and my wife looked at the soggy pastry and had a bite, it was shall I say the worst quiche we have ever had, and the salad was gritty. It was so bad! It was the one of the hot days in August and we didn't have the energy to complain so we just left. I know I will get a response saying why didn't I complain. But should you have to on such basics? On a positive the staff were very friendly and can't fault them.

Visited today for Sunday Lunch today about 2.15 pm and found it was not very busy. Ordered Sunday lunch with coffee and thought it was a little bit expensive. Service was quite prompt and the beef was the best I’ve tasted, and I mean ever. Simply beautiful so it was worth it. If I have one criticism it would be the food was not hot enough, merely warm so I’ve marked the food down a little but it was delicious.

We visited during a party on a lovely midweek day. It was clear from the outset that the staff could not cope with a social gathering and the usual cafe guests. A new member of staff had very little knowledge of the trade and no idea of the food on offer (not a good start). We had a long wait, sporadic service with drinks and food arriving all at different times. No explanations given. All in not up tp scratch. Can I suggest that for the more elderly guests that staff are at least receptive to allowing the use of cutlery and easy hold cups/glasses? It isn't a big ask but makes life much easier all round? If the family are happy to provide this then what is the big issue around this? Not planning to return in the near future despite being a local family.

Our family visit was a tour of eateries as part of an excercise to find places to bring our Southern friends who have never been further than the Watford Gap and view all from t'north as wearers of flat caps and walking whippets. This wonderful peaceful oasis will certainly dispel any preconceived ideas of that nature. The setting, the service and excellent food makes this a must for the list of definitesThe peaceful gardens, with easy chairs and sunshades paints its own rural picture..We chose to eat in the function room, one of the party being nervous of wasps and the like. The room, though basic was spotless. The service was excellent and the food of high standard, especially the hot roast pork cob with french fries...great value. The toilets, my personal make or break test for food establishments were pristine. Well done Manor Farm..see you again very soon

Dropped into day for lunch, seems to have changed since we were last here & sad to say not for the better, I was glad to see they were busy so it meant a 40 minute wait which was ok as we was not in any hurry & quiet like the gardens, they seemed understaffed but I understand it’s difficult to get staffing right in places like this especially with the British weather, having said all of that our order arrived around an hour after we sat down, my wife’s order was wrong, she doesn’t eat cheese and asked to have it removed from the tuna melt our crockery was stained ( but used hot water & our napkin to rectify) however my club sandwich was so disappointing especially for the price of £8.25 , the salad was clearly a few days old, the beetroot shards were dry & lost colour , there wasn’t enough chicken in the sandwich to feed a two year old never mind a fully grown adult, bacon was over cooker & the bread was just regular sliced bread, we love this place & love to support independent business like this, going forward I hope you address the lack of quality which we enjoyed and appreciate in previous visits .

Lovey setting on the edge of the small village of Bleasby near Southwell. Very nice gardens to sit out in. Tea and cakes fine - although no scones which surprised us (we visited mid afternoon). Scones are a tea rooms staple surely? The main drawback is that it just isn't very friendly or welcoming. There is a bell to ring for attention but no sign telling you to ring the bell if the counter is unattended - it's not obvious what you are supposed to do. The flower beds have signs in them asking customers to "respect them" (why - what do they think customers are going to do?) The private house at the back has big signs saying 'private - keep out' or something like that - when it's pretty obvious that the house and garden are not part of the tearooms. It's nice enough but could be better if they were more customer focussed.

Lovely setting. However, had lunch with friends on a dull Saturday - the place was very quiet. Had a very long wait for our order. My tuna sandwich was dry, very little filling and one quarter sandwich was mainly double edge of the bread crust. I was wondering how they had managed to cut such a shape. It was garnished with a small very overripe tomato and some watercress. There were a few crisps also on the plate. For one slice of bread I thought it was well overpriced. I would have liked a tea or coffee to follow but couldn't be bothered. Polite service.

A lovel setting but not a great experience on this occasion. There was a 45 minute wait which they did tell us about but as we were walking with no car, we did not have much option but to wait. The tea arrived promptly but the small 2 cup teapot was a bit mean with no hot water since we had to wait so long for our food. Our request for more hot water was not received well. When our food arrived after 43 minutes we were not impressed. The scone was hard and the equally hard tea cake came without butter and we had another wait to get some. The tuna mayonnaise sandwich was ok but the toasted cheese was soggy and not toasted enough. The skinny chips were tasteless. It was also expensive at 17.64 for 2 of us to cover the sandwhich, the tea for 2 and the toasted cheese. Our friends paid seperately for the scone and tea cake. Not much in the way of cakes were on display. Meanwhile the water container was empty. It was a very hot day and they were busy

Been going to Manor farm since I was a kid back in the days when they kept pigs and sheep. It is still one of the best places for afternoon tea in rural Nottinghamshire. In summer you can relax in the peaceful garden watching the bees buzzing around the flower beds and orchard, while having your tea. Or the inside part of the cafe which is charmingly rustic and has been extended and refurnished in recent years and is a cosy retreat on cooler days. The food, and cakes in particular are all home made and absolutely delicious. Prices are very reasonable and the staff are very agreeable, in short its a little piece of heaven in Bleasby.

Fresh sandwiches and gorgeous cakes, couldn't fault it at all..the food was served on a lovely tall platter with hot tea. I have been coming here for years and years with family, nice staff, lovely cakes and pretty surroundings. It's amazing how different you are treated when you turn up with friends on .......A BIKE! I realise that for some reason we are a hated community but, its probably worth knowing, that we reward our efforts with cake and coffee...lots of it, and spend lots doing it. We noticed that the main cafe was quite full so, knowing there was a room at the back, asked if we could use it for a short meeting we were having. The owner agreed but very sternly said, " yes BUT, you must put the table back exactly as you found them as its an inconvenience"...nice touch I thought.... we all had food and most of us had two coffees each. I expect we spent just shy of £200 and spent about 40 mins there, I reckon thats a fairly good turnaround for making a profit and 11 people that could have written excellent reviews (yes, we are all professionals and can write too) so didn't really expect to be told off, fists shaken at us and told we need to learn give and take (???) as we left because we had failed to put the table back at the exact moment he walked in when most people were using the toilets and getting their stuff together. We did put the tables back, we did leave it in a perfectly good state and we enjoyed the food and coffee. Sadly, after about 20 years i think, I will never be venturing back. There are too many good coffee shops on our routes that welcome us with open arms and get regular custom from us. Never look a gift horse in the mouth when in business. I feel for the staff, they tried to make it pleasant for us, even offered to bring an oder pad through for the second round of coffees...but he abruptly stopped them and announced to us that we would have to "Go though and queue, like everyone else" We didnt ask to be treated specially, but thanks for the clarity

I recently visited this tea shop with a group of friends and was looking forward to having a traditional afternoon tea only to find out this was not available in the autumn. I therefore had to make do with a cheese scone and piece of bakewll tart plus tea. The scone was not particularly good, too much bicarbonate of soda seemed to have been used, and the Bakewell tart was too crispy on the bottom and had too much icing on the top. My husband had a piece of chocolate cake, which was dry, As we were with friends it did not seem appropriate to complain at the time as this would have spoilt the occasion. The only redeeming feature was the little alcove we were able to share and the warm fire. Having since spoken to one of the other members in the party I found I was not alone in this disappointment. Suffice it to say we will be giving Manor Farm a miss in future.

We knew that hot food was not served after 3.30 and were also told that, which was fine. We ordered afternoon tea for two, the young girl serving spoke to me as if I was a complete moron and said I had been told 'no food after 3.30'. I reordered just scone and cake. Funnily enough, the scones were hot! 'Food' was good, service poor and to stop serving afternoon tea at 3.30 on a summer afternoon is ludicrous.

We've been visiting Manor Farm since the days when it was Jean's Tea Rooms, and they used to serve Jean's Tea which was great. Unfortunately Jean's Tea left with Jean, and there was no afternoon tea offering, so we were very pleased to see an afternoon tea on offer once again. For the three of us the cost was £30, which seemed a little on the pricey side. I have to say the afternoon tea was quite disappointing. The selection of sandwiches were a little stale and crusty, a bit like the old British Rail sandwich! The finger sandwiches were also tiny, about two bite each one. We also got the smallest scone each, with jam and cream. The cakes were also a bit dried up, apart from the Victoria sponge which was lovely, but again sliced incredibly thinly. For the money I would expect larger sandwiches, freshly made, a full-sized scone, and nicer cakes. A salad garnish would be nice. We've had many afternoon teas over the years, including Bettys of Harrogate. We recently had afternoon tea in an M&S Cafe, which was much better quality, and only £12.95 for two, so almost half the price. I'm afraid if you want to justify prices like these, you need to up your game a little!

We stopped at this charming tea shoppe in Bleasby and sat in the gorgeous garden on a lovely summer's day. The menu looked enticing, and I expect you couldn't go wrong if you ordered tea and toast, a toasted tea cake, or just tea/coffee (though they thought a double espresso meant two large espressos in two separate cups, the espresso itself was excellent). Unfortunately we opted for the full English breakfast which, I have to say, was the worst we had ever had outside of a motorway service station. The sausages were miniature and tasted like those vegetarian substitutes vegetarians tell you taste just like the real thing, but actually taste like clotted sawdust; the bacon was stiff and left a formaldehydey aftertaste. The scrambled eggs my daughter ordered reminded me of school dinners. I would challenge anyone to find any place in England with a greater discrepancy between the beauty of the location and the grimness of the food - unless there's a particularly charming Little Chef in Little Dribbling?

Lovely setting , passed many times but called in for the first time today . Tasty food with quick and efficient service, if any down point I would say it's a little overpriced, will definitely go back.

I was really surprised to read some of the reviews on here. We usually come here once a fortnight and the food and service are always excellent. I particularly like the fact that they do smaller portions. I love the omelettes and meals on toast. Keep up the good work. We will definitely be back.

I organised a surprise 70th party for my partner at the tea shop. Caroline and Andrew couldn't do enough to help, listened to personal requests, and made helpful suggestions. Everyone commented on the quality of the food and a gluten free meal was provided without any fuss. Staff were efficient and attentive without being "over the top" and the whole event was delightful. Fortunately we were lucky with the weather and were able to spread outside. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this venue to anyone considering a party. Thank you very much.

We have been customers of manor farm for quite a few years . Today I visited with my daughter . Normally when you eat here you are full but sadly today I can't say the same . We had the afternoon tea £20 for two of us . It consisted of two small pots of tea and a stand with about 10 finger sandwiches so nowhere near full size , one scone between us and four plain biscuits and some small slices of Victoria sandwich cake and a couple of other bite size pieces of cake . No salad or anything to accompany the sandwiches . Certainly no where near worth the £20 price tag ! . The staff were lovely a young girl served us she was really lovely . However sadly I won't be rushing back because it's really poor value for money all be it a pretty setting . My advice would be to go to the topiary tea rooms they do fabulous food way cheaper and you get lots more of it . If you look at my reviews in general very rarely are they negative . As I said this place has been a favourite of ours but sadly it isn't what it once was .

I have visited this place several times, the last in October 2015 with friends. The tea shop part is a bit crammed in and although the cakes are lovely they are quite expensive. It is a lovely setting, especially in the summer when you can sit outside under the trees. Gardens are kept trim and pretty. The food in the restaurant is really nicely presented and enjoyable. Worth a visit.

£7.50 for a small bacon and egg cob and a cappiccino is way to much, I visit alot of cafe in the East Midland area and the prices here are a absolute liberty, the food and drink I had where OK but not worth the price tag, I will not stop there again. To be fair the location was nice and the staff where friendly and efficient.

Visited with family. Ordered hot chocolates which were amazing. Also had cakes which unfortunately weren't the same standard as the hot chocolates. We found the chocolate cake very dry, and the cherry bakewell base was really hard (so much so that we had difficulty in cutting it up to eat) Will try it again another time - hopefully next time we will have time for a dinner as the menu sounded lovely

I love this place. We've been regulars since it first opened and it had the animals (once upon a time)! It's quaint, cute, country and pleasant. Relaxing in the summer, cosy in the winter. However.... slow down on the old price hikes! I don't mind paying a little more than the average but the prices here for a simple coffee and snack are becoming silly. It's a sure way to turn your regulars off. The quality was also lacking last time I visited. Limp peppers in the salad, and greasy cheese on toast. I really hope that someone gets hold of the reins here as I love this place. It's a coffee shop in the country.....not a west end hotel! Please please please keep it real and true to what it really is.

It's been a few weeks since I last visited at lunchtime, which is something that I did regularly. On this visit I was disappointed to find a change in the menu. Having said that, the service was up to its usual high standard, but that was not enough to encourage me to continue visiting for lunch. My alarm bells should have rung when I arrived at 12.15 and there were only two cars in the car park. The menu has changed drastically; gone are the delicious jacket potatoes. Instead there is the unfortunately named 'tart of the day', and burger and chips. On the day I visited the tart was one that I suspect would not appeal to everyone - beetroot, goat's cheese and walnut. It was tasty and well-presented, but a little pricey for what I got. They also seem to have cut down on the number of cakes they offer. They now offer alcoholic drinks - not what I want when I drive there - which may appeal to some customers. In the toilet, someone had vented their annoyance by writing on the wall a comment about the prices - painted over, but not successfully. Oh dear, what a shame!

We really enjoyed our stay in the on site shepherds hut 'Peony'. We were made to feel so welcome by staff with a drink and then showed around the hut, loos and shower block (private use). We were very comfortable and slept very well. Breakfast was to die for with lots of choice and good quality food and drink.Such good value for money. A really memorable stay.

Visited today bank holiday Saturday for lunch. Menu changed. No jacket potatoes and toasted sandwiches.Surprised to see burgers and fish and chips. Ploughmans was excellent. Chips were lovely. Ham and tomato sandwiches were just ok. Bread was lovely but minuscule amount of ham. Charged 75p for tomato on them. Price of sandwiches over the top for what they were. But then they give u small jars of mayonnaise and tomato ketchup which must be more costly. Really don't like to complain as have always loved it here but felt very disappointed. Not everyone want afternoon teas when the norm is small amount of sandwiches and too many sweet things. Unfortunately won't rush back

We visited the Tea Shoppe on Saturday afternoon and had the most delicious afternoon tea, everything was fresh and tasted lovely although the bread was a little on the dry side, the best part was the little cakes and scones. Beautifully presented and tasted lovely. The setting was lovely and the staff where very attentive even though it was very busy. We also took advantage of the alcohol license and had prosecco. We will definitely return to try the rest of the menu.

As a once regular lunchtime visitor I am extremely disappointed with the change of menu. Now there are no longer snacks on toast nor jacket potatoes instead the sandwiches now appear to be made from shop bought bread (previously they were on lovely think hand cut bread). The menu now comprises larger meals which aren't that nice either the chips are just oven cooked as the fish also appeared to be. The beef burger whilst beautifully presented was almost inedible (compared to shoe leather by my companion). The change of menu is (and it was a member of staff that told me!) was for the benefit of the staff so that they have more time to prepare the afternoon teas.Well they will have even more time now as we won't be returning.Such a shame.

How dissapointing. What a vast change since our last family visit. Shocked all our firm favourites have gone from the menu, to be replaced by burgers and chips. It was quiet when we visited, so not sure why we had to wait so long to get our food and drinks. Food was luke warm when it arrived and not very good. Small portions, kids where still hungery. Expensive too. We will not be returning. Would not recommend

Set in a nice location & building with seats outside as well as inside. We sat inside & did not notice the line on the menu that said 'order at counter', so continued to sit there waiting for someone to take our order. There were only three tables occupied and the waitresses kept walking past us. Would have been nice if they had just mentioned in passing that we needed to order at the counter. However, this lack of care was consistently evident during our lunch. The short menu was burger & chips, fish & chips or vegetarian tart. Aside from that there were omelettes, paninis & sandwiches. They also sell alcoholic drinks. The two more mature women who took our order at the counter & delivered the food were clearly not enjoying their jobs. One at least put on a fake smile whilst the other couldn't even be bothered with that. You have to pay at the counter as you order rather than when you have finished, which means you tend to order less as you don't know if you will have room for a cake etcThe burgers looked promising, but didn't taste like 100% beef & I wouldn't be surprised if there was pork in them. Whatever, they were not particularly good quality in my opinion. The omelette was ok. Chips were hot & freshly made. If we had wanted a coffee or cakes after, we would have had to go back up to the counter and place another order and pay for the second time. This sort of place attracts older people and it would be nice to be served at the table.Tried it, but won't be back. There are plenty of other choices in Southwell including the garden centres.

The staff was also friendly and gave us some good recommendations for places to visit in the area.

Have visited this tea shop since I was a child and they had animals in the neighbouring barn. The cake is particularly nice and I would recommend the muffins baguettes and specials board! A lovely spot that not all are aware of 100% place to visit especially if escaping from the city for a relaxed summers afternoon, you do though pat premium prices but there's not many places like it and the staff are always friendly

We stayed in the Shepherds Hut accommodation and enjoyed two very fine breakfasts and a gastro dining experience. A small menu but very good sized portions delightfully presented and well prepared. The whole meal was competitively priced and represented great value for money. Presently the restaurant is BYO but a licence is pending. The location of the tea shoppe remains peerless but lately the standards have fallen. It has always been a little pricey but that is acceptible if the standards are high.Today the blend of tea was of very poor quality..... looked and tasted like dishwater and the food was uninspiring and lacklustre. The garnish of salad could not even stretch to the luxury of tomatoes. A small lettuce leaf and a desert spoon of grated carrot did not even provide a welcome splash of colour to the meal.Perhaps it was just a bad day but this experience has certainly put us off returning, which is sad, because it used to be a real favourite with our family. We have always found the staff lovely but that can never make up for the lack of quality food. It felt as if those preparing the food were bored which contrasts sharply with the passion with which meals were prepared in the past.Sad and disappointed.

Returned for a third time with friends from the village as it is walking distance from home and we had our own wine to drink under there bring your own policy won during a quiz night at the pub. Staff were very friendly and attentive with a lovely quiet and cosy atmosphere. Excellent food as usual and a completely new menu from the last time we ate. Simply cannot fault the food, it cannot be bettered anywhere locally. No corkage charge on the BYO means you can have a superb meal at an affordable price. Ran out of time for desert unfortunately as the neighbours complaints about their operating in the evening restrict the hours they are open.

Not only is the food amazing quality, it is detailed and unusual with thought clearly gone into every dish. The portions are generous and the service always attentive. The atmosphere is lovely - there's an open fire for cosy winter nights. On top of all this, the fact you can bring your own wine means that the bill is a nice surprise too! For a Christmas present my mum bought me, my sisters and my daughter a bread making class and I have to admit and wasn't particularly bothered about it!!!. We arrived at the function room adjacent to the tea shoppe which was in a lovely peaceful setting. We were greeted by both Andy and Caroline who instantly made us feel at home and relaxed. A lot of reviews read 'nothing was too much trouble' but it really wasn't, the kettle was on all day!. Caroline's tuition for the bread making was relaxed, interesting and comical which resulted in all of us taking home a good selection of bread. Afternoon tea was scrumptious as was the demonstration food that we were able to taste (Mmmm thank you). Me and my family do try and spend time together when work and time allow but we all agreed lovely memories were made here today which is probably the best Christmas gift we can give. So thanks mum, Caroline and Andy, looking forward to visiting again soon.

A unique experience in a wonderfully cosy shepherds hut, it is in a gorgeous setting. Quirky and sumptuous. The hut is next to duck pond and you wake to birdsong and duck quacks. The food is exceptional. Best breakfast in a long time and hearty as well as quality. We had not booked dinner before arriving, although the restaurant was fully booked. They very kindly found space for us. The Gastro dining on the nighttime is yards from the cute shepherds hut and again exceptional food. Very friendly owner and staff. As one earlier contributor mentioned it is ‘card only’ but is clearly stated on the door. What a wonderful pub this is. It’s like stepping back in time and has a super range of draft ales, craft ales, ciders and some stouts too. The beer was excellent and served by knowledgable bar staff who clearly know their subject. The interior of the pub retains a quirky railway theme and it was spotlessly clean and had a good trade mid afternoon on a wet Tuesday. There is plenty of choice for non beer drinkers too. A lovely range of bar snacks available too. A real gem of a pub and I’d strongly recommend a visit to this CAMRA award winning venue.

Had been meaning to give this place a go for weeks, as we constantly drove past the sign. Never got the opportunity for one reason or another. So we took a chance and gave it a whirl on a weekday. It was very nice, welcoming, etc, etc. However, the prices did seem way off the scale for what appeared when the order arrived. It was very expensive and not THAT good to be honest. You don't mind paying a premium when the quality is top notch, but this really wasn't. No better than what you would expect to find in a supermarket and twice the cost. We left bitterly disappointed and still a bit hungry.

Absolutely awful. The worst hotel experience I've had, still frustrated we actually stayed there. Rude and unfriendly staff, disgusting rooms with no heating, bricked walls with no insulation, dirty duvets covered in rips and holes, ridiculously loud, people banging from 5am, by that point we'd had enough and left. Not forgetting the awful smell of grease throughout the hotel, receptionist wasn't helpful at all and didn't want to change our room even though she gave us a different one to what we booked. I'm covered in bites from bed bugs, disgusting. Easily the dirtiest and worst hotel I've ever been to.
