Manor Chinese Takeaway in Stroud

This takeaway is awful, such a shame as the new owners could’ve really made a success of it. The food is inconsistent so you never know if it will be ok or so salty that it is inedible. We’ve ordered several times hoping that we’ve just been unlucky but this last visit the salt and pepper chicken was beyond salty and garlicky… almost inedible, it made us all really ill. it’s sad not to support a local business but it’s not cheap and there are far better quality takeaways within driving distance so we will not be wasting our money or risking being ill again.

Second time of using manor under new owners. First was poor. This tho was shocking. My wife could not eat any of it. I phoned them to say the duck was awful and we did not eat it. I took it back the next day for a refund of £20. Will never use them again. Whole meal cost £55.

Really don't understand the good reviews, the food that was edible was tasteless and some of it inedible. The capital spare ribs were chewy with no sauce on them , the chow mein was completely tasteless and the chilli chicken had no spice at all. Live locally so would use regularly if it was good but unfortunately it wasn't such a shame will carry on ordering from Bens in Nailsworth.

We had a takeaway on Thursday as we both had had a bad day We phoned are order in about 6ish to be told it would be ready in 7min to which I said can I pick it up in 15min. To say it was the worst Chinese I have had would be nearly right It was taste less dry and 1 of the dishes was so bad it was like glue. Not sure if we will ever have another meal for here Sorry

Ordered 1/4 aromatic crispy duck, chicken in black bean sauce, crispy shredded chilli beef, egg fried rice and extra sweet/sour sauce. Got about 3 tablespoons of duck bits deep fried in batter (see picture), very nice chicken with lots of sauce, beef strips which were not crispy with only a 10 min car journey to get them home, rice that was either brown or white that had been reheated as was clearly not freshly cooked and gloopy sweet/sour sauce. Was hoping for a great takeaway as had heard the previous one was dreadful. Very disappointed and unfortunately will not be returning

It is difficult to describe just how awful the food is from this outlet. It seems to me that the food was cooked some considerable time ago, then frozen, then reheated. The dishes did not represent anything that we would normally recognise from a Chinese menu. Not cheap, not edible, not acceptable at all, and the place should be closed so as to protect others.

Chicken and mushrooms- absolutely awful. All covered in a jelly sauce which was awful - Luke warm too.

Chicken and bean sprouts- absolutely awful. All covered is some gluttoness jelly like a coloured wallpaper paste. No taste and inedible.

I rang them and told them that the cucumber and spring onion which came with the half crispy duck was turning to liquid as it had either been badly refrigerated or was old. Also the rice had started to go crispy around the edges. Which also suggests that it is not fresh. The operator on the phone told me that the vegetables are free so I can’t complain about them. I pointed out that they are not free as I paid for the meal; and they should check the rest of their stock. She said “whatever” and slammed the phone down on me.

Just had another delicious takeaway from Manor Chinese. We enjoyed: chicken curry; Singapore vermicelli ; smoked chicken strips; King prawn (Hong Kong style); chicken satay on skewers; chicken chow mein; and egg fried rice. Every meal was delicious. Not even one spot of grease on plates. Highly Recommended. We've never had a bad meal from them.

This used to be a good takeaway, but is now under new ownership. It has a Food Rating of 1 so we no longer use it as friend have had tummy upsets. The shop refuses to put the food rating certificate in the window. I wonder why! Better to buy a ready meal from Tesco next door.

Been going here ever since I moved to Chalford Hill many years ago. I’ve had the occasional bland tasting meal due to busy periods or really late at night. Apart from that, the majority of the time, the food is great.

It was one of those nights where driving home and then eating would have taken too long so my partner and I opted for Chinese we could take to her parents house. I had a vegetable chow mein, which consisted of three pieces of vegetable. Two bits of baby sweet corn and a long slither of green pepper. There really wasn’t much flavour in he sauce either. Very tasteless. However, the portion size was monstrous. I didn’t go hungry. It just wasn’t the nicest thing to eat. When we got home we realised that one of our sides was missing. Hopefully it wasn’t charged for as I couldn’t be bothered to go back just for crispy seaweed.

Had read other reviews and listened to friends opinions that were not great. Recently move to area and thought would give it a go and make up might own mind. Bad reviews are wrong the service is top draw and food is as good as it gets.

This take away used to be really lovely but recently it hasn’t been so great. Some of the dishes are really great and never seem to vary but some dishes I steer clear of. We have a few dishes we like and we tend to stick to these to be on the safe side. When we want a big order we go elsewhere. Decent but not consistent unfortunately.

We used to always get our Chinese take aways from here until standards seriously slipped. The food is not good and the place is dirty. The staff cooking wear their normal everyday clothes and their hair is not tied back. Finding hair in our food was the final straw.

My wife was out with a girl friend for the evening so I decided to get some crispy duck as this is my favourite Chinese dish. Do not normally use this place but seems popular so gave it a go. Without doubt the worst crispy duck I have ever tasted. Firstly it was not crispy, just greasy and undercooked with soft fat on the outside and a bit gristly. Plum sauce was bland and the spring onions past their sell by date, woody and chewy. Absolute disappointment, how do they stay in business producing such muck? Probably because there is no local competition, but I will never risk it again. Stomach felt a bit queasy in the morning and I have a pretty iron constitution.

I'm fed up of ordering from them, only for them to give me the wrong dish for one of the items. Happens nearly every time. You had one job...

I have been buying take away’s from here for years. However, the standard of the food is inconsistent. Sometimes it tastes fresh but other times dried out (especially the chicken balls in batter). I have stopped using the takeaway a few times after a poor meal only to restart because it is very conveniently located. Last weeks chicken chow mien, sweet and sour chicken balls, etc etc were very nice and ready in 10 minutes.

Best place to go for a quick Chinese, decent menu and good food quality. Also very quick when you order, unless you buy a burger (who buys burgers at the Chinese anyway?)

Ordered two pancake rolls and hardly came with any meat at all, there was only one very small piece in the whole thing and for the prices you’re paying you expect more.

The quality is so inconsistent, I have had good tasty food and tasteless food here, depending on the day of the week!

Went there and they forgot my duck rice which was nearly my whole meal! chop suey just doesn't do it.also the rice was for my 2 yr old.They blamed the new boy on the phone and told me to come and collect it which was a another wasted journey.

Our local Chinese takeaway. Lovely food today as always. Staff helpful and friendly. Very good value for money

Had a chinese chicken curry from here and it was just so poor, it tasted like chicken in gravy with a bit of chilli. The rice was well overcooked aswell. I've had a better chinese chicken curry from tescos next door.

Used to always use this takeaway but since new owners took over it's gone down hill. Quality of food was very poor. Need to up their game.

Went to this takeaway as an alternative to our tried and tested. Similar price but quality below what we expected. Ribs were ok. Chilli beef was inedible. Tasted like fat. If you go chose carefully.

Esas personas diciendo este lugar hace patatas fritas mal, ¿qué se puede esperar es un chino no es una tienda de chips. La comida es un buen precio, no me puedo quejar del menú! La comida llega rápidamente, por supuesto que va a estar lleno de un viernes y sábado por la noche pero, sin embargo, llega muy rápidamente. La única crítica es que no venden arroz frito especial

Estamos pensando en trasladarnos a la Bussage/Chalford zona así que decidimos probar la pizzería local. Tuve el Foo de hongos yung, mi marido tenía Singapur mein la comida y los niños tenían salchichas y patatas fritas. La mía era totalmente insípido, en realidad bastante me asombra cómo se las arreglaron para tomar mucho de los huevos y el sabor de hongos. Mi marido me dijo lo mismo de los suyos. Los niños salchichas estaban bien, pero las patatas fritas eran horribles, obviamente muy barato fabricado congelado patatas fritas, no propiamente dicho chip shop patatas fritas hechas con verdaderos patatas en absoluto. Muy decepcionado.

Nosotros usamos esta llevar quizás una vez cada dos meses o así, a veces es bueno, nada que nos hacen quieres usar más a menudo. Tamaño de las porciones era considerablemente más pequeña la última vez que pedimos, que es decepcionante si se comparten. Siempre parece ocupado viernes - domingo, así que deben estar haciendo algo bien.

No creo que este establecimiento será conseguir una estrella Michelin en el futuro próximo, pero habiendo dicho esto, es muy decente, para llevar comida China local. El menú es bastante estándar para sitios de este tipo, los precios son razonables y la calidad consistente y bueno. El servicio, especialmente cuando no está demasiado ocupado, es generalmente rápido, y si viven localmente es muy fácil acceso con aparcamiento, justo en frente de la tienda. Abre temprano y cierra bastante tarde, así que usualmente será abierta cuando lo desee.

comida china apropiada de bien calidad. No pedimos nada no-chino, tales como Burger. desastre total. Pero se pegan a la comida china y estarás bien.

Authentic chinese food cooked on the premises with prompt service and good quality ingrediants. We've never been disapointed with the food although some of the staff can be quite abrupt but that does not detract from the good food served here.
