This place is incredible, we were so impressed and thoroughly enjoyed our food which was imaginative fresh and delicious. We had a mixed platter and we couldn’t believe how generous it would be and the quality was superb, just perfect.

Found this gem by chance today. Fabulous lunch, good choices. There was a good atmosphere, and the staff were friendly. Will be back again.

Arrived just as they opened and it was a good job, very quickly filled up and people were left waiting for tables. Great service and really tasty food. No complains, other than it could be a bit closer to home 🥲 would recommend to anyone in the area looking for breakfast

Manager was super lovely and took very good care of me as I was studying! Only stayed for an iced latte but will definitely have a little treat on my next visit. Cute little atmosphere and a lovely independent coffee place.

Just popped in for a coffee and snack. Wonderful coffee, scone and flapjack. I had the scone which was delicious, warm and served with a genius amount of cream and jam to spread on. Unfortunately we had dinner reservations but the food we had and that we saw coming out of the kitchen was amazing! Very pleasant and attentive staff! Thank you

Two or three Sunday brunch visits here and can't wait for the next one!! Last Sunday I went for the 'Full English' and its enough to keep you going for days - three rashers of back bacon, half a Cumberland sausage, two eggs, biggest mushroom in the UK, etc, etc!! At different times, we have tried the smoked haddock brunch, the chorizo and potato option, and similar. All excellent. Good friendly service, great ambience. Excellent option.

As a local, this place used to be one of our favourite spots to enjoy breakfast, brunch and/or lunch. Sadly, something seems to have gone very wrong. It’s not just the friendly attentive staff that are missing, it’s the atmosphere and overall experience. On our last visit (just after opening and only two other tables taken) we were shown to a table by an incredibly rude guy, telling us repeatedly (almost aggressively) that our small friendly dog needed to be under the table at all times. We were at a small table for two, so not much room to hide a dog under there, nevertheless he was sat perfectly still and as close to my legs as was possible. The couple next to us agreed that his attitude was extremely inappropriate. He just seemed to be offhand to customers, turned a party of 8 away!!!!! and was unfortunately quite offhand with other staff members ……. until the owner walked in - and with that hey presto the gentleman concerned started swanning around saying good morning to everyone and asking how everyone’s food was! One thing you could always count on at Mannions was really excellent food, sadly on our last visit my eggs Benedict were beyond awful - raw, runny and inedible. I don’t actually like leaving negative reviews, especially for somewhere that used to be THE place to go in York. I genuinely hope others have a better experience than me ……. but don’t take your dog!

Four of us went for a meet and some food mid Sunday afternoon. I had the best eggs Benedict I have ever had. The eggs were perfect. My wife had an excellent looking all day breakfast. Quality ingredients cooked well. Staff very friendly with good banter from the male host. We shall return soon.

Fantastic lunch. Welcoming, characterful and tasty. I had the pork belly sandwich which was succulent. I also had the cheesecake and a latte. All were perfect. My friend had the mozzarella and dukkah sandwich which she enjoyed too

Food was some of the best we’ve ever had - we had the jerk chicken and fried turkey sandwiches. Everything was so fresh and full of flavour. The food was exciting and inventive. We had a great view of the chefs and everything that they were making looked incredible - we want to come back and try everything on the menu! The staff were incredibly friendly, the coffees were great and the playlist was the icing on the cake!

My elderly mum lives in Easingwold so we were over the moon when our favourite York cafe opened a branch there and we’ve had many lovely lunches. So this review is not about the food which is great, but about a very disappointing staff attitude (and as no email address is provided for any of the branches seems to be the only way of flagging it up!) Travelling to my mum’s (we live abroad) I picked up Covid and so the planned stay turned into a disaster. My 93 mum was gutted and we were unable to stay with her until clear. As a treat my husband called in to Manions and asked if he could take away 2 cheese scones and was told no you have to sit in. He explained he’d happily pay the sit in price but needed to take them out. Nope not allowed. When he came back I said did you explain it was because I have Covid and wanted to sit outside with my 93 year old mum (whilst she sat by the window) have a lovely scone and cheer ourselves up. He returned, explained and still nope not allowed, although he could have ordered 2 scones from the table and when served walked out with them….although didn’t think of that in time. What a ridiculous situation and how to lose loyal customers and a very merry Christmas to everyone!

We came in around half past two and we were cheerfully greeted. We were informed there would be a little bit of a wait but it wasn't a problem for us to wait indoors and the turnaround was very efficient. We were made to feel very welcome and as though we were valued. The sausage sandwiches were delicious - the bread was incredible as was the homemade ketchup, simple but perfect. The Turkish eggs were also a very impressive dish. Overall great experience with lovely staff.
