Just get you're curry's from Tesco, £8 to feed 2 from Tesco £22 from here. sadly no difference. What a shame these restaurants have lost there roots, Indian and Pakistany food used to be fantastic years ago. Now just westernised garbage.

the food was aw full full of cream and had very little flavour just cream and water I WOULD NOT RECCMMEND GOING AVIOD

We stayed in the lovely Kirkby Stephen and got a takeaway from the Mango Tree. Delicious food, reasonably priced and good service.

Really had a great evening. Food well presented and very tasty. Lots of choices on the menu. Reasonable prices. Proprietor was aware of food sensitivity and advised on ingredients. Have been once before a few years ago but would definitely return if I was in the area. Could recommend the merlot wine.

Had a lovely meal on a Sunday evening. Good to see a party of young people in celebrating a birthday and several other tables full. I had a mixed starter and a lamb rogan. I’m gluten free and the waiter was concerned that there was a samosa in the starter! I swapped it for an onion bargee so no problem. An excellent meal all round.

Had a takeaway from here and food is very bland and non-descript, even the garlic naan bread didn't taste of garlic.

We ate at the Mango Tree on our one night in Kirkby Stephen on the Coast to Coast walk. One of our group really wanted to switch up dining from the pub meals that we had been eating. Indian food was a terrific change. The menu is extensive but the server was excellent at giving us guidance on selecting the best dishes for our tastes. The portions were generous. The staff even went out of their way to return a very important hat that my husband had left on his chair. Very kind of them.

Staying in Nearby B&B as part of C2C walk. Saturday and very busy luckily I had booked a table . Great service and the, The chicken curry was excellent, If i lived in the area this would be my go to resturant

We were recommended by Margaret in the visitor centre in Kirkby Stephen. The Mango Tree certainly did not disappoint, friendly staff, extremely good food, very efficient although the restaurant was nearly full. Dishes were flavoursome & authentic, we enjoyed our meal very much. We are only in the area for 3 nights, but will try & return during our stay. Thank you for an enjoyable meal.

OMG, this must be one of the best Indian restaurants I have ever tasted, me and my wife are in Kirkby Stephen for a weeks holiday, was here last year , and tried this restaurant, its still amazing, will have another meal on Friday night before we go back home , had the mixed starter, the Adrock lamb chops, 2 meals, rice and Nan bread , reasonably priced as you get 10% off orders over £15 , ours was £34 and worth every penny

Good food, swift service. Nothing to complain about. Was recommended that I eat here by staff at The La'l Nook micropub which is nearby - they were right and I was very pleased with the food, the cleanliness & the staff.

We didnt have a reservation but were there about 6pm and restaurant was empty bar one other table so we were seated immediately. Enjoyed the food but thought the staff were lacking in customer service skills to the point of rudeness! We did not want dessert so paid (and tipped!) And were just finishing up drinks when we were arrogantly told they needed the table back in 5 mins. At this point there were only 3 tables occupied including ours and the rest of the restaurant was totally empty as still only 7pm. Really? You needed the table back ?? We are a quiet couple in our 60's so it could hardly be our behaviour that was the problem! This is no way to treat customers and their loss as we were in Kirkby Stephen again later that week and might have given the restaurant our custom again if we had not been treated so shabbily ....but no way ! We noted it was once again empty ... In these times of austerity, with so many eating places competing for customers, the owners might like to reflect that bad and rude customer service will ensure no repeat custom. Certainly NOT ours.

Went here ad hoc and were accommodated easily, only 2 of us. Menu was nice and easy to follow with good food descriptions and we were very happy with our choices, food was lovely . Staff were pleasant and restaurant was nice and clean. Prices were reasonable Would reccomend if in the area

We were recommended to this restaurant by Augill Castle. We turned up unannounced and the staff were happy to offer us a table- despite the restaurant being quite busy. The food was delicious and there was plenty of it. We had Jal Masala, Bengal Green Curry, rice and Bhindi Barghee, all served piping hot and fresh. The staff were attentive but not overpowering and although we had not booked we did not feel rushed, at all, Would 100% recommend this restaurant, If I could comment on anything, it would be the decor- lime green walls are an acquired taste, and it’s a bit ‘open’ - could do with cosy’ing it up a bit - as we were on a romantic getaway and a bit of privacy would have been welcomed.

This is an exceptional Indian restaurant by any reasonable standards - these guys really know what they are doing and are not just presenting a standard menu. The spiced salmon and bhindi bhaji are amongst highlights. Strongly recommended.

This restaurant came highly recommended by our B&B hosts, and with good reason. The food was great, really delicious. Just have to make sure youve eaten within prescribed time frames as you will be politely reminded that your times up. Definitely worth a visit.

The food here was very disappointing. We found it largely flavourless, and on top of that the portions are very small - not even a whole chicken breast's worth in a main dish. I recommend two mains per person even if you on the petite side. Lots of sauce, very little meat and very poor value for money.Our Saag Paneer tasted strongly of fish to the point of being inedible, which makes no sense whatsoever as Saag Paneer should not have fish in it.The lamb in the mixed platter starter was tough as old boot leather.The Achari Tikka (lamb) should be bursting with flavour but was mildly flavoured and had no discernible spice in it.Rice, poppadums and naan bread were all standard and edible.Overall I'm afraid this was a really bad experience, and a big disappointment after reading other reviews.

Perfect takeaway for our Saturday night treat. The food was delicious was ready on time and we ordered just th right amount - shared the platter for starters , one rice and 2 mains, a dahl and one nan. Perfect.

Got a takeaway from here and when we phoned to order, the staff were really helpful in advising dietary requirements and were more than happy to adapt foods to make them vegan and or gluten free. There were multiple options for a vegan if you ask them. We had a made to order vegetable curry, coconut rice (made dairy free) and Aloo Gobi (made dairy free also). Others in our party said that the vegetarian Sag Paneer was really tasty and they were more than happy to make and Aloo Gobi Gluten free as well as most of the curries on their menu. Would highly recommend visiting or getting a takeaway.

At the ease of lockdown restrictions we are camping at the caravan park on the outskirts of town. We ordered a takeaway while walking the dog and picked it up on our way back. It was lovely, I had chicken Murgh masala and my wife had a lamb balti. It was very nice. Will definitely use their takeaway service again or eat in when the dust settles.

We chose one with salmon and another with mushrooms to follow our mixed platter. Both provided interesting flavours. Portion size good - enough but noy overwhelming. Visité el Mango Tree el domingo 01 de diciembre en la calle. Muy silencioso. Mi esposa y yo éramos los únicos Diners. Servicio excelente. Amable y servicial. Buena selección de menú con opciones diferentes e interesantes. Precios muy razonables. Definitivamente uno de los mejores restaurantes de Dian que he visitado en mucho tiempo.

it used to be amazing some time ago but seems to have changed ownership and the food quality has gone down since the old chef left. Kirkby has not got much of a choice so certainly ok Indian food.

We went on the recommendation of our hosts at the gorgeous Old Croft House B&B opposite and had an excellent meal. Tender lamb tikka and warming alu chat followed by prawn dal doi and a minty green Bengal chicken dish with chickpea rice and pillowy coconut nan. Top quality, interesting food with real flavour. Good service, and very reasonably priced.
