Mandrakes in West Lancashire

Took my 2 nephews for something to eat,no impressed by decor. To my nephews,not very Harry Potter. Food was very expensive and not the greatest quality. Will not be going back,if you have not been,don't bother.

What a gem! Had a lovely afternoon with great sandwiches, a range of treats and unlimited tea. My dairy allergy was catered for really well. Staff were friendly and engaging. Décor and attention to detail with the theme was great. Will definitely come back, it was lovely.

A truly magical afternoon, enjoying delicious afternoon tea. The staff could not have been more welcoming, attentive or helpful. They cater for dietary needs brilliantly. The attention to detail was magnificent. Such a little Potter fan gem. We will becoming back as soon as we can.

Absolutely fabulous service from the team we couldn't of enjoyed ourselves more. We came on Easter Sunday as opposed to the usual Sunday dinner and it was easily one of the best things we've ever done. All the servers were so friendly and accommodating especially to the member of our party with a gluten intolerance. They were careful and attentive without ostracising her which means the world. Lovely little gift shop and the little touches like the photo opportunities, special plant pot brownies and prize draw really sets this place apart. Worth every penny, and we loved the wand quiz! Would Absolutely come again, the theming is excellent, and it's like stepping into another world! To those concerned about deposits, it's worth it. Give it a try, and don't leave negative reviews before even stepping through the door! Thank you to the team at mandrakes, you are all truly magical

We went there over the weekend and had a wonderful time, the atmosphere was really magical ! Our server was fabulous, friendly and he made us laugh from beginning to end ! He also did a quiz with us that really made us giggle! Ended on a sweet note with the amaze cakes too !! Highly recommend for lovers of Harry Potter!

I was keen to try this place as it looked quirky and a bit different. I went to make a booking for afternoon tea at the end of May but they asked for a £32 deposit for afternoon tea for 2! To add to this, you get are allocated an hour and 15 minutes - it sounds like a long time, but it really isn't time to savour and enjoy an afternoon tea. I've since read numerous negative reviews on TA and other social media - I think we'll give it a miss and go somewhere a bit less intense.

We visited mandrakes after school supper club for my daughter’s 7th birthday. Lillibet and Leanne’s service was wonderful - they made her (and my sons) feel so special. The food was lovely and great value. Dress up opportunities and merchandise to buy. Will definitely go back the kids loved it.

i'd been to mandrakes before with family in 2020 and we had a great experience! such a potter-y feel with amazing decorations, lovely food and photo opportunities. staff were lovely too. however this time, the establishment has been changed slightly, since the windows have been covered it feels way too dark and the once harry potter themed music was replaced with a playlist of (and i'm not exaggerating) 4/5 songs which played on repeat the whole 1.5 hours we were there. we asked for a request on the music only to be told 'it's a playlist so unfortunately not' as well as 'the old harry potter music used to make people sad' which honestly is a bit of a poor excuse considering how many theme songs there are across the movies, there is so much to choose from for all of them to be sad - the food this time was slightly underwhelming and felt overpriced. the staff did add some lovely touches but i'm not sure if i'd ever go back.

Wonderful, friendly staff. Fantastic attention to detail in decor & Harry Potter experience. Would highly recommend to any Harry Potter fans.

This was our first time at Mandrakes after trying to book for a couple months. We booked the festive afternoon tea which wasn’t great. £22 per adult and £16. The adult tea consisted of Finger sandwiches x 2 Turkey and 2 x Wensleydale & cheese with cranberries. A Mini glazed sausage & stuffing ball with a pot of cranberry sauce. A pot of crisps and Christmas spiced scone with strawberry conserve and fresh clotted cream. Vanilla cheesecake topped with crushed candy cane. A Macaron, Mini sweet mince tartlet And a mini Mandrakes ice cream pot. You could have Unlimited Tea or one speciality Coffee from the hot drinks menu. Children's Festive Afternoon Tea consisted of Finger sandwiches of 2 Turkey and 2 Jam. A pot of crisps, festive school cake.Cauldron of treats. Chocolate pudding pot topped with raspberry and white chocolate stars. Christmas tree, Mandrakes ice cream pot. There were a few things that had been advertised but we did not receive like the suitcase of jelly beans and the gold coins and no frog! We were informed on arrival they were short staffed but there weren’t many people to serve so wasn’t a problem. Only one member of staff interacted with us the others didn’t bother. We did feel it’s not as good as it could be or maybe it was the day we visited but I wouldn’t rush back and wouldn’t recommend an afternoon tea. The shop is small with a variety of merchandise but very over priced.

Celebrated my daughter’s birthday here with a few of her friends. Staff were rude, nobody came over to wish my daughter Happy Birthday, nobody explained that afternoon tea was to be shared between two, children were very confused and some upset because they thought they hadn’t been given anything, vegetarian afternoon tea was not specified, we were just left to work it all out ourselves. The only time they came to the table was to remind us we had 15 minutes left and then we’d need to leave and then they started clearing the table. Food looked lovely but was tasteless, a lot of wasted time and effort went into organising this for my daughter unfortunately. If you’re looking for something with the ‘wow factor’ this certainly isn’t it!

Absolutely fabulous was worried with some of the negative reviews. But honestly it was fab I don’t know if people are expecting something else but this place is a cafe. The staff are involved and attentive and made the experience really enjoyable our kids loved it. Thanks we will be back!

We went for our daughters tenth birthday with six friends for a movie night dine package. The staff could not have done any more for us they were absolutely superb nothing was too much trouble. The atmosphere was fantastic. Was it Hogsmeade -no, but it was a magical environment with a Harry Potter theme. The little group can be hard to please but they were all screeching with delight at dressing up, doing the quiz and finding out what house they were in. I would absolutely recommend Mandrakes for a party fab place, fab staff and a whole lot of fun. Thank you

We've just had a beautiful brunch here. We had toast and drinks followed by the Mandrakes Dessert Pot of course! Everything was delicious and more than reasonably priced. The staff were very attentive and interactive particularly with my 8 year old god son, he loved it. After food we got to experience the prop rooms followed by the gift shop which was pricey but that's what you get with HP merchandise. The afternoon tea looks great we will definitely be returning to try this. For the price I can't understand what more people would want from the experience. There is a pay and display car park right next to it. We visited on a Sunday and it was free with lots of spaces. Will definitely be returning.

Firstly I appreciate it’s a small business but trying to get in contact with them to book a table is so difficult- ignored on Facebook , messenger, email, web enquiry and finally got through on phone It’s my daughters birthday and her and her two friends are Harry Potter mad. They dressed up for the visit! £55 for three 13 year olds to have afternoon tea I requested their jam sandwich instead of a more adult option however this was not served correctly first time but was corrected Tea served without sugar and staff too busy to flag down to get sugar First time there was a quiz - didn’t happen this time - found the cafe busy and lacking the “experience” that was expected On the phone while booking the lady said they would make a fuss of the birthday girl and sing happy birthday - this didn’t happpen - nor did the tour! Birthday girl took money to buy nee wand in shop - shop extremely lacking and expensive - no wands at all in shop and umbrellas at £57!! Sadly I felt let down for the price this visit. The concept is amazing and the staff friendly. But the experience is lacking as if a strong lead
