Ordered for the first time and I went to bed very satisfied and money well spent,satay chicken was the biggest skewers of meat on a stick I have ever had and the sauce was lovely,Kong pao chicken no veg was spot on to how I like in a thin batter,chicken chow mein was lovely and chips were lovely...portions were very generous and delivery time was 30mins and food piping hot....well done guys this is my new chinese👍👍👍👍👍

Really reallly bad food very very dry and no taste !!!!! Delivery was really slow and the delivery driver was dismissive as they would not except pound coins as payment

Did a food delivery online time waited was good but when the food arrived missed a few items plus we could smell a strong odour of tobacco smoke couldn’t tell where it was coming smelt the bag the food nothing we go to eat our egg fried rice and boom couldn’t get the taste of tabacco out of our mouths bloody vile no idea what they have done to be able to do that but absolutely disgusting!!

The food is okay, and I waited over 40 minutes for food order only to get the wrong item. Got an omlet instead of sweet and sour Ribs. Just turned up to ask for the correct item. No apology. Mistakes happen but ownership of responsibility is important! Won't be ordering here again.

Sorry to say after paying £49 for a takeaway meal for 3 food was very poor, all meat dishes the meat was dry and tough, best bit prawn crackers

Got food poisoning from the satay beef Im not coming back

Really shocked by my treatment when trying to complain about my order, pad Thai noodles was exactly the same as shredded chicken chow mein , half the size of the regular chow mein, but double the price, do you know how to cook pad Thai noodles ? This what pad Thai noodles should look like , photo 1, not photo 2 . When I rang to complain, I was told that their policy is to complain the same day ? could not as avoid as was ordered for after Arsenal v Westham game, and they were shut, when asking for policy I was told it’s not in the menu but on Facebook ? Who checks policy’s when ordering , never use them again, always Mayflower Chinese now, so much better, you only get prawn crackers free, even if you spend over £100 , Joke, and no free delivery, Mayflower give you loads of extras free. You only have 3.8 review, Mayflower 4.1 , by the way, I had Thai prawn curry and pad Thai chicken noodles about 3 months ago, and yes again they were the same as shredded chicken chow mein ? Hope your sales diminish , plus chicken wings were rank, grey chicken and still red on bone, ?

Ordered food waited hour and half for delivery food turned up and my soup had leaked all over my other food accidents happen so I tried eating my food my soup which is ment to be hot and sour taste just like drinking vinegar from straight from a bottle and looked like someone took a toilet in side the container ordered crispy chilli beef that looked still alive the chow mein was stone cold the chicken balls was like jelly inside and bbq sauce tasted off pure salt

Appaling. Ordered 1813 hrs, advised 30-45 mins delivery time. Called after 1930 hrs and advised order enroute. My guest had to leave to catch a train at 2035hrs! Called again at 2015 hrs....advised order arriving shortly but no exact arrival time . ..2 hrs + with guest leaving and no time to eat the food I told them not to bother when asked if I wanted to continue with delivery. Is this the dark ages?? Less than 1.5 miles away. I was told they were having problems and a customer in great Oakley also had a 2 hour wait. Fine if a guest can wait that long? If the delivery times were explicit in the first instance I would not have ordered the food. I can cook and would have prepared a meal if I had realised how dreadful the service was- this was meant to be a treat and a 'night off'. I am hungry. Utterly horrific. I can't obviously rate the food as I didn't have the opportunity to sample it. Shame on you and a waste of income/ potential repeat customer.

Great food reasonable prices. Can be a bit of a wait at busy times but that's not a bad thing, means the food is fresh.

The food was excellent besides the curry sauce which was a little flavourless. Food was hot and ready and came with the usual freebie of prawn Crackers which were delicious. I had chicken fried rice, salt and pepper chips and and chicken curry and putting them all together made an absolutely fantastic meal. Delivery was quite a bit late but this could be due to such a busy day. However, staff was very friendly and apologised. Great Place!

Take away turned up swimming in grease. Delivery bag full up with fluid. Food under done. Very very poor won’t use again.

We’ve been a huge fan and regular customer for several years… spending at least £50 a week here. New management or owners took over recently they told us… disaster! Crispy Chilli beef - no separate sauce… hard, soggy, dry and tasteless Duck in Plum - hard, chewy and gristly Chow mein - weird flavour and texture Singapore noodles - better than the rest but that’s the best I can say Pork balls - same And scary thing… morning leftovers - went cakey and coated and greasy - like they were more than a week old. Inedible. Spat it out and binned it. Gave them another go because everybody can make a mistake… SAME result. To top it off… they forgot one of our dishes. They did deliver it about 30 minutes later but not even an apology Well the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result so safe to say won’t be ordering again. Gutted. Hope mandarin house you read this and make changes accordingly. We were loyal and regulars… Shame

We searched for a menu, didn't find one. We called and requested a dish with prawn, reply was blunt, "I can't decide what you want to eat" I said, but you have a menu in front of you, you can help us, she said no you have to tell me... We have ordered from the Beijing, much better website for ordering online and better customer service. We will not return to the Mandarin,,, looking at the rating others feel the same. How to improve: get rid of the unhelpful lady who answers your phone, deterring business and future customers away.

First visit to this place due to staying on holiday camp and fancied a Chinese I think we picked the wrong chinese shop im afraid not very nice all a bit tasteless rice was soggy.

Always a nice chienese, food always comes well made and hot and delivery is normally pretty fast only reason I give 4 stars is because there are alot of chinese take aways in town and I prefer a few others...just a personal preference though

the food was horrible we got crispy chilli beef which was over cooked, CRISPY mini pancake rolls which were soggy, ribs were bland and chicken balls were full of grease

Love the Mandarin, always good food. They are also versatile! I often ask for little items to be added to dishes, they oblige and I'm happy!! The delivery is always quick and served with a smile

This is our normal take away now. After trying over the course of 7 years to find one that compares to where we used to live this surpasses that. We had an issue on Christmas eve with delivery time however we were fully refunded with no questions asked and the lady (sally) was extremely professional and polite and went above and beyond contacting just eat herself to ensure the issue was resolved as soon as possible (the refund was back in my account on the 27th) We will be using them again for sure as the food is always fantastic. Not super greasy or overly sweet and actually a range of flavours from dish to dish. And is the only Chinese (tried about 5 in the area) that don't leave us gasping for a drink. They are slightly more pricey than others however it is more than justifiable. Look forward to our next order. Thanks Sally.

Customer service is appalling the OLD woman who works on the counter has a disgusting attitude towards customers and lies about being the manager she also has terrible listening skills and clearly doesn’t know how to put a smile on her face for good business, food here is good tho shame that grubby old lady touched it!!!

I have an allergy to mushrooms. I have had issues ordering from here as they put mushroom in dishes that I do not expect them in or are advised have mushrooms. I can just about live with that. What I find unacceptable is I made a point of asking for no mushrooms, but they still came in my dish. Good job it was not a peanut allergy. I could be dead. Do not buy from here if you have allergies.

The food from this takeaway is always really nice especially the honey spare ribs.What let’s them down is the attitude of the staff, who are very abrupt, and seemed very rude. One of my family has a sever egg allergy so ordered plain noodles, we checked to ensure they did not contain egg and were told they didn’t.. however once home he took one bite and had an allergic reaction. When we called to complain were were treated with contempt by the staff who didn’t care at all, they told us to go to hospital and get a report if we wanted to sue them! We never even received an apology.A nice takeaway, IF YOU ARE NOT ALLERGIC TO ANYTHING. If you are STAY AWAY, because staff don’t care at all.

I have to say this was the best Chinese we have had if not ever nearly the best hot, plenty of it very clean open kitchen you can see all food being cooked portions large made our break

I can recommend this takeaway. Their food is always delicious, delivery is prompt and always with a smile. The small delivery charge is worth the extra on your meal, mainly because of the better than others locally. Enjoy

Myself and some friends have a slap up Chinese Meal from Mandarin House roughy once a month, and the food is always top quality, piping hot (even when delivered) and consistent.

Used while holidaying over Christmas for a large order (£70+) and told 30 minutes and it was ready for us to pick up on time. Good portion sizes and tasty food. Would use again.

late sunday evening having been stuck in traffic on A12 for hours no time to cook, called in for chinese take a way, first impression clean and spotless, large selection of dishes including english and sweet dishes,selected set dinner C for two persons,it is open behind the counter so you can see your meal being cooked,it has a 5 food hygiene rating, within minutes after paying £23 I was walking out with my hot cooked meal, what surprised me was serving out at home the large amount of food there was,so much so that we cut the dishes including the pancake rolls by half, to have a meal for two the next day,thats what I call value for money.

I think one of the best Chinese in town, each one does things slightly different but Mandarin is top for most of the selections we make. Waiting times can be quite long as gets very bust at weekends but worth the wait.

Quality meal for not a ridiculous price, some of the other takeaways in Harwich could learn from these guys.

Just ordered a takeaway it arrived within 30 mins but was inedible the rice was solid and the sweet and sour chicken must of been at least 5 days old it was dry and extremely chewy the spring roll was a mass of deep fried batter will not use it again

I grew up and lived in Hong Kong 15 years. I ordered the Sweat & Sour Chicken Cantonese style and it was shocking how bad it was.The sauce was like water. Everyone who cooks at the Mandarin House should take a night off and go and see how real Chinese food is cooked at the Peking in Harwich Town. 2/10
