Ok so £15 for a meal for one def wont be back anytime soon add prawn crackers and up the price £3 who eats the crackers

Have been coming here for a few years now and the food is always excellent. Instead of the greasy overfried food I have had elsewhere the food is always fresh with large fresh vegetables and nice chunky pieces of meat and the ribs are amazing

Got to be the Worst Chinese I've ever Tasted absolutely disgusting. Prawn Balls Chicken balls Chicken Chow Mein special Chow Mein prawn Toast. £40.20p. I Wouldn't of fed it to my Dog. Had a few Mouthfulls all I ate was the Prawn Toast. The rest Went in the Bin. If you want Really Nasty food you will find it here in abundance

Second time trying this place after moving to the area in 2021 (first time was average but edible), wish I hadn't. The food was tasteless and tasted cheap. Egg fried rice was gross and barely had any egg in. Wife had duck which was overcooked, and at nearly £13 for a quarter was very expensive. My wife vomited and I had a dodgy stomach hours after eating it, which was likely down to the food. The portions were also small compared to other places. Based on the low quality of food, high price, small portions and being cash only to avoid card fees - says to me they strip everything make to make more money. The thing is they will end up going out of business unless they change that mindset.

Ewww what has happened, the food was terrible! The egg fried rice was filth! The free crackers were stale. Disappointing for a treat to be awful! No wonder it was empty!

We just have takeaway from mandarin garden we wanted to try , it was awful, no taste at all , this is the worst chines meal l had ( actually couldn't finish) rice OMG very bad cooked ,never go back there. Keep going to Singapore kitchen only now

Luckily the old rude owner has gone and the new people have changed this place for the better. Very friendly service and quick preparation. Food wasn't incredible, but was certainly better than average. Portion size was okay, particularly the sweet and sour sauce which was the biggest I've ever seen from a takeaway. Free prawn crackers were much appreciated too. Slightly annoyingly they still only take cash (which I thought was just the previous owner being stingy), even though there's an ATM next door, it's still a bit outdated and frustrating. Only other feedback is while it's great the food comes in metal containers rather than plastic tubs, it'd be great if they could go the whole way and use cardboard lids instead of the wasteful plastic ones.

After a long day moving house we tried the local Chinese and we were really impressed. The food came 10 minutes after I ordered it and it made a nice change to have chow mein that wasn't swimming in oil. We'll be back!

On entering the establishment noticed that it was very clean and there was a very nice food aroma. This was borne out by a very tasty Chinese takeout. Tasted very natural and wholesome. They were very welcoming and helpful. Just one inconvenience is having to pay by cash. Would nevertheless use again.

We had the burgers on a Saturday evening and they were really good - very tasty fare. It wasn't too busy either which was good, but it was a noisy room. Couldn't work out whether it was the music coming from the speakers or the customers shouting over each other... Anyway, service was good - friendly and relaxed. So if you need something in a hurry, say so when you order.

Nice carvery, have been going there since the carvery started but amazed last time we went that the price had gone up by £2, a bit greedy I think

used always order but not anymore my wife was eating her dinner and had to pull a piece of wire metal out of the rice cut her mouth aswell for the pleasure

Fantastic, reasonably priced food never takes more than 15-20 mins and literally always ready in the alloted time, most often early in fact. Plenty of vegan options (would recommend 98b with 90a) and gluten free ones as well. Friendly staff, always smiling only complaint is that they aren't open for longer. Best takeaway for miles. :)

Can only imagine that the “neg” reviews were related to the previous owners......Polite, prompt and MOST importantly: fabulous Chinese👍Food. If there are better spare ribs this side of Shanghai, I haven’t seen them, so let me know please.

The service and food was amazing. Just moved to the area and wanted to try local. The presentation was spot on, hot tasty food. I phoned in a large order and went to collect a box full of food 25 min later! Hands down the best Chinese take away. Noodles were great, some places are too oily, these were tasty. Worth every penny.

Go to for noodles, great Chinese all around. Been our go to for years. Having recently had another I remembered how much I appreciate this place.

Not that bad for local Chinese quick service

I've revised my previous rating as this takeaway seems to have improved exponentially. I won't go anywhere else locally for a quick Chinese meal. Delivery was very quick too. 5 well earned stars. Would certainly recommend you try this restaurant.

We have used Mandarin Garden for years their standards of service and quality of food is second to none, the same consistency over the years. Well done! It's no problem to me but in this day and age of contact less payment cash only could be a problem to some people.

I came into here to order my food. I asked if we could have it delivered. We live 1min away walking distance and the man said if we walk there it’ll be free. I said ok. So then a women comes to the door and I open it and see that she has charged £1.50 just to walk 30seconds with my food. We then had an argument as I wanted my money back but she won so I gave up. £30.00 for 1 meal and delivery very. Terrible don’t recommend. They’ve lost £100 a week from us.

Can be a bit of a mixed bag sometimes but last nights takeaway was excellent. Nice to see a few free prawn crackers thrown in.

I ended up going to this Chinese takeaway as I really fancied some Chinese food but unfortunately this was on a Tuesday and many other places where would usually go of course are closed on Tuesdays when I walk through the front door I was pleasantly greeted the a young lady ordered my phone which didn't take too long to go approximately 15 to 20 minutes I didn't order too much by the time I got home which was at least a 15 minute drive my food was still piping hot. Now on about food the food was absolutely fantastic I ordered the duck in black bean sauce the duck had so much flavour the sauce had a slight hint of spice and there was some lovely bean sprouts at the bottom of it definitely recommend along with the Singapore fried rice this was one of the best Singapore fried rice I ever had with the chicken satay skewers my god they was outstanding the satay sauce was so flavorful the chicken was so fresh and tender one of the best starters that I have ever had from a Chinese 10 out of 10 definitely recommend going here will definitely be coming back again.

I have been a regular here for the past 25 years, but since this was taken over 18 months ago has improved immensely. Proper chicken, juicy prawns and the best crispy duck. Give it a try *****

We went back to this takeaway where my sis used to eat when she lived here - and were pleasantly surprised! Great big home-cooked pancake rolls! (not those tiny veggie ones from the freezer centre!). Freshly cooked stir-fries and fried rice, tasty, not too greasy. Won't leave it so long next time!

Looks like my favourite Chinese takeaway has gone back to the good old days when the food was excellent, it went off track for a while but it’s back with brilliant food, lovely delivery man and tasty quality ingredients, not forgetting the best prawn crackers I’ve ever had! Welcome back

Very friendly service highly recommended

We have used this takeaway for many years and we have always been happy but I don't know what's changed of late but the quality of the food has gone down hill rapidly. We ordered beef with mushroom which is one of our favourites but the beef had no flavour, there were about 3 mushrooms in it along with loads of other tasteless vegetables that they now add to it. It should now be called Beef with vegetables although I am not sure you could even call it beef. Several of the other dishes we ordered were very bland and tasteless and ended up being binned. Its a real shame as up until now we have always found the food of great quality and flavour even if a little expensive but we now need to find a new Chinese takeaway!

When inside the phone rings at the desk forever before they answer. I was inside ordering but just tried calling and experienced the long ringing with no answer. It sucks. I know they are standing next to the phone too. Ridiculous. Also they charge loads and no free praun crackers under £15. I spent £14.50 twice in two days and when I asked they still refused. Expensive for what it is.

Some of the meals are greasy and not very nice then some like the skinny noodle dishes are nice enough . The ribs were fatty. When I was growing up in sure these places did better quality food it just seems so cheap now with no effort .

Been my local for years and gets ordered from about once every 2 years as that's how long it takes me to forget just how rude the guy who runs this is. It's not a cultural difference or language barrier he's run that place as long as I've been alive and is hands down the rudest person I've ever handed money to. Last time he was so rude on collection I left my food and walked out had he been a bit younger he'd have been wearing it...

When I moved into my current home 11 years ago I got my traditional moving day takeaway from the Mandarin Garden ...and threw it away before eating a third of it. It tasted of reused oil, smelt bad and didn't taste great. But there seems to be a law of diminishing returns with any takeaway where they taste worse the more you use them and that is where I am with my current local Chinese takeaway so I decided to give the Mandarin Garden a second chance...I'm afraid to say it won't get a third. For a takeaway to be better than average it needs to smash out the staples ...whether it's a Chinese, Indian, Fishandchippy or whatever, the prawn crackers, bhajis, chips or poppadoms you need to be brilliant at the basics...and the Mandarin Garden doesn't manage that. The man out front, is the same guy who was there for me a decade ago, and I think the owner...he came to the UK in 1959 and the food he offers is reflected in this. For me the food was closer to traditional Chinese food than what we have come to expect from the modern takeaway. So...first the Pros...the Capital spare ribs...they're good, you can tell they are cooked with Chinese wine and the meat far outweighs the bone...good ribs...although the kids said they smelt funny. The Cons...Prawn Crackers...free on my order (I spent £23) but basically a bag of broken prawn crackers...and when I say broken I mean smashed. Egg Fried Rice, again one of the staples, you should cook the egg then add to the rice, and you can never have to much egg. Mandarin Garden add uncooked egg to their rice with an end result of claggy grey rice. Sweet and Sour Prawn balls...maybe I'm being picky but I have come to expect a fluffier Tempura batter...MG's prawn balls use a traditional egg batter and end up looking inferior and tasting tougher. Chicken Chow Mien...again a bit claggy, not a lot of chicken in there...a below average dish. Chicken with Cashew and Vegetables... a traditional Mandarin Chinese dish which has fallen out of favour to sweet Cantonese or spicy Szechuan cooking...chopped round carrots have no place in a Chinese dish...disappointing. To sum up I so wish this place was better, I want great eating on my doorstep and I want local places to succeed. Unfortunately the Mandarin Garden really needs to get with the times.

big portions, lots of meat, value for money

Normally we use the Singapore Kitchen but decided to try the Mandarin Garden for a change. We ordred Roast Pork Chow Mein, Special Fried Rice, Capital Spare Ribs, Mixed Veg with Chicken and Sweet & Sour Chicken Balls. The meal was good and we weren't disappointed - the Ribs were especially good. There is no Mixed Hor D'oeuvres on the menu which we like to have and a couple of the dishes were served in smaller cartons as opposed to the larger cartons we're used to at Singapore Kitchen. It was an enjoyable meal and we would be happy to return again although I wouldn't use it as my regular haunt for chinese as I prefer Singapore Kitchen.

The Mandarin Garden is cheap and cheerful. The turnaround time between ordering and getting your food is swift and the end result is always tasty.

Wouldn't keep using them if they were no good! What more can I say? The Singapore noodle is to die for!

Siempre me dan lugares el beneficio de la duda, pero esta es la última vez para mí con este lugar y es una pena, ya que la comida es estupenda. El niño necesita retirarse quien toma los pedidos esta es la tercera vez que lo estropeó Y ESTOY hecho con sonar y tener que volver no será con ellos de nuevo hasta que haya ido. Sí, quizás debería de facturado antes de irme, pero lo difícil es cuando puedes ver lo escrito abajo

Nunca he tenido una mala comida de este lugar y he estado utilizando desde 2008. Sí, cuando el hombre u ring suena grosero, pero eso es él. Buena comida, siempre caliente y nunca esperar mucho tiempo. Fui en un tiempo atrás y nos dio a mi hijo de 8 años de Fortune Cookie. No mucho, pero apreciamos todos los mismo.

i could be wrong but i feel things have changed at this take-away recently.......apart from the fact i got chicken chowmein instead of beef it was really dry ....moved to this area 4yrs ago & they were above & beyond until tonight ....awful .....may try somewhere else which is a shame as i am a believer in supporting local business...but they have to do their bit too...sorry...

Food is great but won't be using again due to the rudeness & bad attitude of the staff. Especially the person that takes the calls. If I spoke to my customers like that while I was working I wouldn't have a job for long.

Lovely and hot when delivered quickly .food very nice .will defo use again .very efficient when I ordered said it would be half an hour but fifteen minutes maximum .

Went to this Chinese last week as I was too lazy to cook,the establishment looks very striking with its large orange sign interior is very clean looking,and the menu has a huge choice,being very boring I went for my favorite sweet and sour king prawns with fried rice,from an elderly gentleman who was friendly,who took the order to an unseen chef in the kitchen.It took at the most 10 mins and the place seemed fairly busy with telephone orders.On arrival at my home some 2 miles away the rice and prawns were still hot enough to eat without microwaving them and there was both plenty of prawns sauce and rice which all tasted very nice thanks Guys.

I love this place. Local, good quality, quick. When placing an order by phone, no matter how much or how little you order, it's always quoted as being ready in '10 minutes.' And it always is!Free stuff depending on the size of your order from prawn crackers to beer, I am very much a regular as I live close by, but if I moved it would take a pretty special Chinese to tempt me away.Just one word of warning, when it says 'pull' on the door to enter, it means push, and when it says 'push' to leave it means pull!
