Mandarin Chef in Poole

Very disappointed placed an order which was due to arrive at 9:25pm after waiting an hour and 15mins due to be delivered to then see my order had been cancelled..would not recommend using this place

Mixed bag of an experience! First time ordering from here. Food was prepared and ready super fast (for collection). Sweet and sour chicken balls lovely, satay chicken lovely, foo yung so salty it was inedible, as was the seaweed, which we usually love from other places. Smoked chicken was meant to be crispy but was weirdly soggy, and chilli beef was overly strong sweet and sour flavour. Not sure if order again, unless desperate for an option, but if I did, I’d stick to certain dishes and avoid others. If they laid off the salt it would be much better!

Had just moved house and with nothing ready we had to order take out late. The driver made a mistake and took our food to the wrong house. At this time, they had already closed but the boss offered to re-make the whole all on his own and deliver it himself. I can't tell you enough the generosity this man showed and amazing cooking skills. 10/10 food and 100% would recommend

Cancelled my order 50 minutes after I made it even after telling me it was out for delivery.

Have had 3 takeaways ftom this place, the first two were eatable, (each time had to put in the microwave to hot them up) and the one tonight had to hot them up yet again. There was a plain rice missing but was told when we rang they couldn't do anything about that and said they would refund the cost on the credit card. My husband's chichen was full of skin and hardly edible. I don't think well go there again. Spoilt our meal

We had a takeaway. The food was just generally terrible. The aromatic crispy duck meat was dry, chewy and grisly in places. The beef in another dish was salty and one dish was not what we ordered - a ‘special’ Thai green curry instead of chicken. Who wants pork and beef mixed with chicken in a Thai curry?

Food was delicious, full of flavour. Best chinese in a long time. Had capital spare ribs, singapore fried rice and sweet & sour chicken balls. Staff were very friendly and our order was ready in about 10 minutes.

Best Chinese food around my area in Ashley Cross, Poole. Staff go out of their way to help. Highly recommend. Had a small issue where my address was wrong (my mistake) but management sorted my order and re-delivered.

DON'T ORDER FROM THIS ESTABLISHMENT. Sisters partner ordered a takeaway from here when quite clearly on deliveroo and their website they are still open and running. They wrongly decided to take the money with a status update of being prepared and an hour and a half later no delivery turned up. Tried to call the resteraunt a couple of times and the phone line is not in service and cut of instantly. This is disgusting service to accept money and wrongfully not deliver the service you are suppose to provide to your paying customer. Will never order from here again, really bad establishment. I would advice against ordering from here and do not waste your time. Unless you want to either wait hours or for the food not even bother to turn up.

We placed our order with this company as we had in the past and were told delivery would be 7.00 pm. At 7.20 we rang and were told he had left 4 minutes earlier to get to Broadstone. We rang again at 7.45 and they said he would arrive in a minute. At 8.00 pm we rang again and complained. We were told we could return the food or be given £10 compensation. The man arrived while we were on the phone. To date no £10 compensation has been received. We won’t be using them again.

Ordered takeaway at 6.30pm. Was told an hour for delivery. Yep, OK, it was a Saturday night. Rang again at 7.45pm, was told, yes, its on his way. Will be with me within 5 min. That's an hour and a half. They rang me at 7.52pm to say it would be another 20 min. Only ordered crispy duck pancakes and bbq spare ribs. 2 hours waiting yet 10 mins down the road. Never again 😒

Driver delivered the meal and said there was a small spillage, when we looked it was more than a small spillage all meals had the sauce leak out and was sitting in the bottom of the carrier bag, I spoke to the restaurant which I could hear them say in the back ground “will taste nice” when discussing what they can do for us. I discussed with the restaurant who eventually offered a new meal to be delivered and drive take old bag. Driver came and said “what’s the problem” quite rudely and I explained the sauce he just took the bag and handed new one and walked off. New meal didn’t have any mushrooms or vegetables just butternut squash and carrots which spoiled the meal and the experience

Thought I would try this Chinese out on a pass by, was awful got home to sloppy sticky rice curry sauce was stupidly think. If you want to wake up in the night with a raging thirst yes this is your place FULL OF MSG! Avoid

LOVEE IT! It’s close by so it doesn’t take long to deliver and food is amazing!! If you are super hungry whilst ordering I wouldn’t recommend buying especially if you’re far away because it could take longer, sometimes I have to call but most of the time it’s great.

Always late with your food and it's cold

Ordered food over two hours ago, rang up to see where it was. Told it had just left the shop and would be ten minutes. 45 mins later still not here. Rang again but told order hadn’t gone through. Wouldn’t give me a partial refund for the mess up as the app wouldn’t let them and cancelled my order instead. Would not use again and would not recommend. Terrible customer service.

Sadly tonight we had the worst meal from this place ever. Been going her for years but not again. Cold, tasteless. Crispy chilli beef- cold, greasy, flavourless, and lacking any beef. Special fried rice- loads of lumps of fat rather than meat. Loads of boney bits in the duck Beef chow mein- again very fatty gristle instead of meat Cold salt and pepper chips with no salt and pepper, Seaweed -No taste! What a waste of money. Very disapointed

Burnt and inedible chow mein. The smell was awful. No help with a refund and they clearly tried to put us off a re delivery by making the time frame unacceptable.

Live in Blandford, and this tops all the ones that are in this town. Beef really tender and special fried rice delicious. Slightly pricey but worth seeking out.

Made an order for 1930 to he delivered to my home. Called the restaurant at 2000 to get told its on its way. Still nothing arrived so called back at 2015 to ge told the order hadn't left the restaurant so got told a lie to try and buy some time and also hung the phone up on me. 10 minutes later I called back and still no change so demanded for a full refund where later on I received. Will never use this diabolical restaurant for eating in or out ever again. I urge others to please find somewhere else to spend their hard earned money on eating in or out. PLEASE AVOID!

Visiting the area, used uber eats. Good selection of food on offer and we decided to go for the set meal for 2. This was an excellent choice, a good variety, tasty, non-greasy and generous. The order arrived on time and hot. Well done, highly recommended.

Delivery took 1 hour and 15mins, wrong food delivered. 2nd time we have had problems with this restaurant. Will never use them again. Phoned to make a complaint, the guy was unhelpful and it felt like he was calling me a liar. He said the driver only had 2 deliveries and the other customer got correct order, so we must have. No apology that they might have made a mistake in the kitchen. Ended up cooking for the children as they couldn't eat what had been delivered ( which they were upset about) and no credit for missing items. Awful customer service.

Dreadful service. Ordered a takeaway to be delivered at 6.00pm and it didn't arrive until 7.20pm. I rang them 3 times to ask where my order was and kept being told the driver was on his way. When it finally arrived at 7.20pm the driver told me he hadn't left he restaurant until 7.10pm so they had lied to me 3 times on the phone. Would never order from them again.

Ordered take away food last night and it was disgusting. The vegetables served with the crisp duck where dry and tastless as was the duck and spare ribs. Really unsure what the meat actually was. I would never go here again, worst chines of my life.

We always order from this Chinese. The vegetables are so fresh, everything is cook perfect, not to salty which I find in other Chinese takeaway. We live in Upton and the food is always hot. Would highly recommend mandarin chef they don't disappoint. 😁

We have been going to the same Chinese take away for over 25 years and for a change we thought to try some where else as their prices keep increasing. We were so happy to try here! The sweet and sour sauce was the best we’ve had from any where. The rice was really nice too. The only thing I would say was the chips, there wasn’t many in the portion, only enough for one person as we like to share. But overall really good place.

Food was so late. When we phoned for an update they just wanted us off the phone and didn’t care. Not great service.

Our go to Chinese every time, highly recommend the special fried rice and a large spring roll for a starter. We always have delivery, doesn’t take too long and the food is always hot. Haven’t had any problems with ordering via the Just Eat app and the order is always correct. We will continue to use regularly.

Used to be good a few years ago. Ordered for a set time and the food arrived an hour early. They seem to put cucumber in dishes...curry and sweet and sour, very odd. Maybe they were meant to use courgette?!

Waited for an hour and 50 minutes for my delivery. Called the restaurant few times and every time same answer "5-10 minutes" will not be ordering anymore. Wish I can give no stars !!!!

The worst Chinese food I've ever had, smelt and tasted like dog food, even the prawn crackers was terrible like a week old. The duck wasn't too bad though. Do not recommend.

Last night we ordered from here at 5:50pm to be delivered at 7pm, 7:44pm comes along and they cancel my order. Nearly 2 hours after ordering this restaurant cancels the order with no explanation and my refund still hasn’t been processed. Trying to call the restaurant you just get user busy. Avoid at all costs if you actually want to receive your food!!

Lovely food,done quickly. Parking is a pain. But would definitely recommend their food.

Ordered at 6.30pm and the food arrived around 2.15 hours later. No communication from the restaurant and when trying to contact them could not get through. It’s unfortunate that I have to leave this review as the food was LOVELY. But just for a takeaway you shouldn’t be keeping customers waiting over two hours. If you’re not able to handle the volume then stop taking orders for a bit or be clear with your customers. Not even a bag of prawn crackers for the long wait.

Disabled wife so ordered a delivery. Told 40 mins. An hour later we rang to see the status. Rang and complained. Told it's on its way. Half hour after that still no food. Asked for refund and have heard nothing back. Worse bit is no apology just blatant lies.

Ordered from mandarin for the first time today. Spent quite a bit . Food arrived after one and a half hours. Food was barely warm and very greasy, including the prawn crackers. Duck was mostly soft fat and very little meat. Pork dumplings whilst lukewarm were quite tasty. But otherwise a very disappointing experience

Delivery was set to as soon as possible, food arrived after 1.5 hours. Food was still somewhat warm, compared to burning hot, which I'm okay with. Me and my friend ordered: Roast Duck with Plum Sauce Deep Fried Salt and Pepper King Prawns Small Egg Fried Rice King Prawn Chow Mein Prawn Crackers Siu Mai (6) Barbecued Spare Ribs Dry I had the Chow Mein, friend had the Salt and Pepper King Prawns, Egg Fried Rice and Roast Duck. We shared the Siu Mai, Spare Ribs and Prawn Crackers. Friend said the Duck was a bit too fatty, I agreed as there was a lot of fat compared to duck, but otherwise, the rest of the dishes were okay.

Just had our 4th order from this place. Discovered during lockdown and now wouldn't go anywhere else. The food is consistently good, always on time and so moreish. Will keep going back for more 😋

Ordered a large delivery from here, half of which didn’t turn up and when I phoned to complain I was told I was telling lies and they weren’t going to do anything about it. Absolutely awful customer service from both the person answering the phone and the manager. The food also isn’t great for the price. Would never order from them again. Avoid if you fancy receiving everything you pay for!

Me and my family have ordered from this place for over a year now since we moved to the area and normally on a Saturday. I have to say the service is absolutely brilliant I always phone up first for collection and its ready in about 15-20 mins, the food is absolutely delicious, the price is good for what you get as there is plenty there and they always remember me and my daughter when we come in and they are always very happy, friendly and very polite. It's always clean and the atmosphere is lovely. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants good Chinese food.

Greasy, undercooked gone down hill fast

Terrible. I wouldn’t order from this restaurant ever again, the food arrived two hours late, everything cold, they forgot to bring the bottle of coke and told me that I should call Just eat to solve the problem (he was very rude btw) (Thanks God i paid in cash so i just didn’t paid the coke). Before placing my order I went through some reviews to obviously see if i should get food from the restaurant and there were some bad reviews but i ignored them. Please don’t ignore this or you’ll have a bad experience.

Ordered through just eat and waited an hour and a half for delivery then they cancelled it at the last minute. My children now have to go hungry for another hour whilst we either re order or cook something else. When I called them they simply said it was to far to deliver. Why not cancel it straight away then!

Food was average and arrived cold, then my husband and I were both threw up last night after eating this. Today I feel weak and not well at all so it must have been the food.

where to start... if i could give it 0 stars i would! lady who answered the phone was very rude however credit where its due the gent was very nice. i ordered two portions of crispy shredded chicken, unfortunately is was soggy and bland. prawn crackers were stale and when i asked about them the lady responded with, 'we make them weekly' The poor quality of food was blamed on the long journey for the driver (2.8 Miles) Poor all round service and quality and would never return.

Only use on a Saturday night if you expect to wait 1.5 hours for cold food and have part of your order missing. You will then have to request a refund of the item that wasn't delivered to be told you have had it delivered and that you are telling lies. Also that the food is delivered cold because it is winter. It is actually a mild Feb evening!! They can't deliver the missing item as they have other customers. I'm sorry... am I missing something here... I am a customer who paid you £30 for food that was not delivered or was cold. Although I have requested a refund, I have not yet had this. Unfortunately I will not be using again because they cannot grasp that a customer purchasing goods from them has the right to receive these goods and all they seem bothered with is how many more orders they can get paid for that night after f#!king up yours. Easily the best Chinese local to Parkstone, I have eaten in every Chinese restaurant/take away around Poole and Parkstone, and if the quality of food is what you are looking for, here is the place.Parking is difficult due to the location on a busy main road,Delivery took 40 mins. total was £26.50 for everything in the picture

Given all the eating options in Ashley Cross this is the only Chinese Restaurant and it’s only a takeaway now. Standard takeaway menu. I had a chicken curry with rice which was pretty average. Portions were smaller than I have got elsewhere but actually that meant right size rather than too big.

First time going there but my mini spring rolls were crispy and flavoursome and my chicken chow mien lasted me 2 meals and was very good with a good ratio between noodles, chicken and bamboo shoots/vegetables. I also received a COMPLEMANTERY bag of prawn crackers. My mum said her bean curd and black bean sauce was “delicious”. There was good service and a nice 6ish year old sitting behind the counter. The waitress was very patient and I enjoyed my experience very much.

Under new management with similar menu from before. Crispy prawns decreasing in numbers and price is increasing so disappointing. Pancake rolls mainly bean sprouts and fried rice is greasy with hardly any egg. Don’t think we will use again as they are so many other takeaways around.
