Canton Chinese Restaurant & Takeaway in Poole

Myself and my wife had a wonderfully delicious takeaway from here last week that was delivered extremely fast and really got our hopes up that we had found a takeaway that wasn’t a disappointment. In expectance of the same taste bud delighting meal we had last week we ordered the same meals again tonight and waited for our mouth watering meal to be delivered……but. Unfortunately tonight our experience hasn’t been the same, the food was cold on arrival which I can forgive due to todays sudden drop in temperature, the food was also bland and the chicken tasted like we had bought it from the toy section at pets at home. With regret I will not be ordering from here again as I feel I have just wasted my money on cold, bland and unfortunately unforgettably bad food.

She originally went to the wrong address called me as I told her the correct number, it was already late. Food was cold and stake by the tone we received it.

Food was okay. Had to wait ten minutes for the driver to sort out card machine so food was a little cold. Major issue was fruit shoot was 2 months out of date! Please check dates on drinks as this was not good! Shame as feel the food quality has gone down hill in the last few months :( use to be excellent now not so much :(

Purchased Special Chow Mein for £9.00 only to find it was not what I would consider a main meal. This is extremely overpriced for the portion size delivered.

I ordered a takeaway of pork and prawn dim sum and Canton Special Noodle dish which should have duck, chicken, pork, prawn and beef. It arrived on time and hot. The dim sum was delicious although the dipping sauce was just a warm oversalted soy and very unpleasant. The Udon noodle dish was hot, full of bean sprouts nand large pieces of onion, and 3 or 4 large slices of very thin and very tough beef . 2 chicken slices tasty off and was of a slimy texture, which I did not eat. Plus one prawn. No duck or pork in the noodles and the sauce was watery soy sauce.. not the usual delicious sauce. I am very disappointed and will not be ordering again. The standard has deteriorated quite a bit.

Unpleasant. The chicken balls were hard and overcooked- actually scratched my throat badly. No taste- rice tasteless. A shame as it used to be a good place. I don’t recommend- very disappointing poor quality food

Todays order we asked for Salt & Pepper King Prawns which I'd paid for and end up with 5 tempura prawns which actually cost less. Safe to say after years of going here somethings gone wrong in the last few months and sadly I'll no longer be returning as the simplest of orders can't be delivered correctly. Such a shame when the food is actually good.

Food was an hour late so phoned to find out where it was and was told it was just coming out of the kitchen. 20 minutes later we phoned again and were told it was just being cooked. Lady on the phone was rude and unhelpful. Food turned up 2 hours after being ordered and was cold and had dietary requests ignored. AVOID THIS PLACE!!!

Best snack ever are the duck spring rolls. A million light years away from the normal cheap processed offering from supermarkets et al. These are large, shredded duck and spring onion filled parcels of joy. Add hoisin sauce for perfection. Eat with good ale at the Barking Cat next door.

Do not waste your money. Stale crackers, tasteless, spring rolls with peculiar brown liquid inside, the list could go on. Such a shame as I did telephone they are not interested, you have paid! She will make a note of what I have said. Very short sighted!

After reading reviews I wasn't sure if ordering from Canton was a good idea. Well I'm glad I did it as food is lovely. Super quick delivery. Everything hot and very tasty👌

Vegetable noodle dish came containing prawns and chicken. Clearly no attention to dietary and allergen safety, made my friend sick. Specifically bought from vegetable dish category as well. Other food itself was pretty below average.

We're rather mystified by the poor reviews. This is our local Chinese takeaway and the quality, consistency and value have always, always been the same. The best Chow Mein I've ever had. Sweet & Sour impeccable. Friendly and always on time. They also serve food direct to your table in The Barking Cat pub next door; "Canton Chips" go especially well with a pint.

Food took 1hr 45mins to be delivered, and when it finally arrived, it was lukewarm at best. We rang the takeaway after about 1hr 30mins to enquire as to where the food was - and the person who we spoke to was a little rude and didn't really listen to us when we spoke. They said they were super busy (a late-ish tuesday evening) and said it would arrive soon - then quickly just said bye. Fortunately, the food did arrive soon [with the delivery driver saying they weren't busy so they didn't know why it was so late], but an item was missing and it wasn't hot at all. Even though the family and I were ravenous, the meal was ultimately a sad affair on account of it being completely devoid of flavour, even though what was ordered are basically meals with sauces made of spices. Baffling. The price was the cherry on top, honestly. Poor food, poor service, and terrible value for money. 0/10

I ordered food from this place today, lemon chicken, sautéed vegetables, coconut soup with vegetables and rice with beef. The rice tastes absolutely nothing and is very overcooked, the lemon chicken is to call the health department, I have never tasted a more disgusting lemon sauce in my life, it tastes just like lemon detergent, vomitous. And the coconut soup is tasty but the texture is sandy and unpleasant in the mouth. They could strain it before serving it to filter out the sand. Very bad, I won't order food here again. The whole chicken in the rubbish or maybe use the sauce to wash the dishes.

Aweful food. We ordered a Thai Red and green curry with rice. Didn't look anything like or taste like Thai food. We complained and initially they said they would give a refund if we took the food back. We agreed but 5 mins later they called back to say that the manager wouldn't give a refund. He explained that they were a Chinese restaurant not Thai so we couldn't expect the same quality. To top it off there was a hair in the food (which once pulled out turned out quite long) and when we mentioned it they said we had put it there! Please do not buy any food here, worst service and food I have ever experienced! I wish we read the reviews before going here

Best salt & chilli ribs for miles!

Perfect. Delivery half an hour early. Probably the best Chinese food I’ve eaten in years. Had special fried rice and sweet and sour chicken balls. Wife had the Singapore noodles (excellent). Will order from you again and recommend to friends. Thanks 🙏

Extremely disappointed with what we received from here. We ordered takeaway as it was my dad's 50th birthday and being in lockdown and not being able to go out, we wanted to try to make it as special as we could, ordered about £60 worth of food and it was tasteless, and the portion sizes were stupidly small. We ordered what we thought would have and should have been enough for the six of us that there was but could barely stretch between four of us. Will not eat here again.

Food was great and they came all the way back to deliver my fruit shoot without us even complaining about it being missing. Thanks dudes. I am hydrated now. 💖💖💖

Ordered online, a £60 order, so pretty decent..... waited over an hour and ten mins Called to find out where it was, person on the other end was fairly disinterested, and no apology for the wait. The Best Chinese takeaway in Parkstone.

Ordered the Singapore chow mein. It seemed to have the decent/right amount of ingredients but it did have a strange after-taste which I found a bit disagreeable. I judge all Chinese takeaways on the Singapore noodles/chowmein and this wasn't a winner.

Had quite a few takeaway meals from here and if you are in the Barking Cat next door you can order at the bar for food from the Canton.

Through changes in ownership/management over the years the quality of the food has remained high since I first went there in the, '70s! Enjoyed my favourite chicken chop suey with sweet & sour king prawns again this evening.

Best Chinese food I have had for years never a bad meal

Our first visit, we ordered chicken satay, sweet & sour king prawn balls, beef chow mein, chicken chow mein, mixed meat curry with egg fried rice, crispy seaweed, sesame toast and prawn crackers. I thought rainbows in hamworthy did awesome food, but I have to say the Canton Chinese was outstanding. It was clean not full of grease, the portions are generous and taste fantastic. Totally recommended

Picked up a meal for myself which took nearly 15 minutes. That’s because of the friendly service and chatty staff. Unfortunately the food was disappointing as I ordered a chow Mein without any veggies but mine was full of it especially bean sprouts, yuk.
