It's a bit of a gritty pub, but they care for their customers and provide a cheap two course meal for pensioners, main and dessert. I sat there in comfort, looking out of the window enjoying every bit of it. Use the Greene king app

had such a lovely experience here, went for quiz night and it was the best atmosphere. the staff are friendly, service was really quick, food was lovely.

Came in today and the food was absolutely amazing!! cannot recommend the chick n mix enough. The food was great, the service was outstanding. Well done to the team!

Slow food service atmosphere ok

Not dog friendly, unbelievable this day and age. Bar person very unfriendly when informing me that dogs weren't welcome.

The meal I had was quite disappointing. The Sunday beef dinner I ordered had leather-like beef that was impossible to chew. The vegetables were still frozen, and there was a large, frozen Yorkshire pudding among them. The stuffing ball was burnt and the mashed potatoes had an unpleasant consistency, as if they had been sitting out for too long and developed a skin. I did take the dish back and was able to get a refund for my meal, which was appreciated. The drinks were reasonably priced, but the overall atmosphere of the pub was not very pleasant. I have been to this pub many times in the past and have always had a positive experience, but it seems that the quality has declined significantly.

Visited this evening with family. Excellent service from all staff. Food was lovely, hot and good portion size

Honestly the bartender who served me was so unbelievably nice shout-out to him I wish I got his name. The food was pretty good as well no complaints there either and the cider selection was great as well

Lovely turkey roast however the vegetables needed to be cooked a bit longer.

The pub was very lively with a warm atmosphere. The staff were very attentive and very friendly. The food was a little disappointing. I am a vegetarian and my eggs had a clear taste of what seemed like meat. I of course may well be wrong. The chips were lovely. My partner really enjoyed his chicken dinner. I felt the dessert was very much quantity rather than quality but it was ok.

Rubbish food that you can not eat over priced don't waste your money.

Come here all the time. One of the best pubs in Ipswich. Kelly, the general manager, is lovely and always there to help when needed. Love being served by Antony always has a smile on his face and loves to make conversation and have a joke around

Unfortunately today I visited and I had pre booked our table 3 days previously. I arrived with my son 10 minutes earlier than our booking time. We ordered our drinks, we were waiting for my husband, son and my Mother In Law to arrive. When they arrived we went to order our food only to be told that a party of 10 ladies who had pre ordered their food in advance were priority and waiting time was 1hr 30 minutes. My husband and I were not impressed by this at all. So he approached a member of staff to complain and all he got was you should have ordered your food when you arrived at 11.50am. We were not told there was a big party due in at 12.15pm. But this obviously didn't matter to them as blamed us for not ordering on arrival. We'll we subsequently bolted our drinks down and left in disgust at this service and treatment of how this issue was handled. We really enjoyed our Fish And Chips from the Chippy up the road instead at home. This is our local pub that we always visit, but we won't be visiting anytime soon unless we get better service and an apology for how we were treated. Just a heads up everyone we're supposed to be mind readers about noticing any big party bookings, and not being told a thing, and our fault. Very unhappy customers at the moment 😡😡😡😡😡

Very happy with the place, the food was lovely considering it's a Greene king. Cheap food, good selection of drinks available, service was very fast considering there was 30 of us, good toilet facilities and easy to access. If I return to Ipswich in the future this place is a possibility, would recommend.

We were there a couple of days ago as a party of 16 for a Christmas meal. The service was good and the food was excellent.

Went in for Sunday lunch but had to wait 45 mins for food so didn't bother which is a shame because the staff and pub is lovely and it wasn't busy.

Four members of staff on ,not one new what they were doing !!!!especially on the till,taking orders and setting up tabs took 25 mins and then I was charged twice for drinks ,which I received a refund the next day.This has been our local for over 25 years and have always enjoyed the atmosphere,meals and staff have always been friendly and knew what they were doing . We came out there and felt we didnt want to back .

Got my order completely wrong ..asked for 2 meal deal only one arrived as no steak no chicken strips so much on menu not in on a Saturday lunchbreak .

We had 22 of us it was all brought out to us together. And all the deserts .and the service was excellent 👌 and all friendly staff .nothing was to much fir them .Thanks to you all .would recommend to anybody who wants good food 👌 😋

Arrived at around 12.15 on a Wednesday, on a lovely sunny day, do expected it to be busy, never booked in advance but no problem, plenty of tables inside and out. Good range of drinks to purchase and menu covered for most tastes. As seniors we were able to order from the senior menu, Mon- Fri afternoons, 2 courses for £5.49! The food we ordered came quite quickly and was hot, both of us enjoyed the food and for the price, was excellent. You cannot buy fish and chips(what I had) for 5.49 from a fish and chip shop, yet alone another course as well. It got busier as we were eating and a queue formed at the bar for drinks and food orders, so people coming in did have to wait and I heard a few people commenting on the wait, also they ran out of fish quite quickly, so I was lucky we got there slightly earlier. Overall a good experience though.

The food was amazing, great price, staff super friendly. Customers all seemed to be really happy. 1st time there would definitely recommend going and I definitely will be going again.

Love this pub. Had “afternoon tea” today for the Coronation celebration. Kelly, Jen and the whole team were great and Richard in the kitchen did an amazing job with the sandwiches and cakes were delicious. Keep up the great work

Nice place for a drink and a chat

1st time my husband and I came here for dinner. We were a bit confused by the location at 1st and were surprised when we got in. It feels like it's hidden away on a housing estate but don't let that put you off. We both had a burger and it was probably one of the best burgers we'd ever had. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Place looked clean and modern. Very happy with our visit and will definitely come again. Thanks.

Service not good not enough staff food was ok took a while to come. I arrived at 11.50am only to be told they could not let me in as don't start serving until 12pm for lunch despite website times showing they were open not happy as had to stand outside in the freezing cold as had 10 minutes before they would let me in not good customer service .

Had a wonder experience. Manager was running food clearing tables and helping on bar. Food was amazing and service couldn't have gotten any better will definitely be coming again. Its nice to see a pub with great management and staff working superbly as a team

The manager was absolutely lovely on my visit with a couple friends, the staff all worked together and made us all feel so welcomed and relaxed. Food was absolutely lovely as well, reasonably priced and good portions (2 meals for 11.49 is a steal haha).I am definitely coming back! Thank you, Kelly and team!

The real ale was superb, very well kept. The food unfortunately not brilliant, ok if you want a burger, no vegetables apart from peas, not even mushrooms to go with the steak. Typical pub food, most from fryer or microwave, but not expensive.

Clean and tidy but the "medium rare" steak i ordered turned out to be extremely well done and a bit leathery as a consequence tho it was very competitively priced. Second visit. Meal was reasonably priced well presented and served promptly. Only minor criticism was that no mustard available but in present circumstances a very creditable effort. Onion rings and tomato included, which has not been the case in other venues i have visited recently.

Me and my twin had a fantastic 53rd birthday here tonight. Amazing to bump into friends and family as well as an old school pal. Thank you cuz Ja for our birthday drink, much appreciated. Good food, great service, buzzing atmosphere. What more could you want. Thank you staff!! 😀

Great pub for a drink, then popped in again for Sunday lunch. There was a limited menu, food great just a little small on portion size.

New people took over and 3rd time we tried the food, gone down hill so much limited menu today, last time had no salad..need a new cook, won't be going again after 20 years of going regularly..so sad

Lovely atmosphere. The pub is designed lovely. I would class it as a hidden gem. You also get great quality food for value.

Have been here many times over the years to eat & to drink. On this occasion i chose the sirloin steak meal which iv'e had before, this time however it was'nt the best, small portions, dry jacket potatoe of which i had instead of chips, & two very shrivelled onion rings & peas. The steak was very chewy not a bad taste but very small disappointed. For a local pub it was packed with mostly men watching football, we headed outside & because it was hot got attacked by wasps constantly i won't be returning too soon.
