Went for an early dinner, the staff were nice, though slightly busy, still getting to us promptly. Loved the American theme, and the pizza was hot straight from the oven.

Been before, precovid and it was great. This time Food was over priced and tasteless. Waited 10 minutes to be offered drinks,one staff was helpful enough, the others no service or hows your food, they didn't even say thanks when we left, that was 17.00 on a Saturday

We ate very well, excellent pizza and absolutely breathtaking hamburger! With good fries. Be careful with the sauces, there are three: ketchup / sweet chili 🌶️/ and ultra spicy sauce 🌶️🌶️🌶️ but too good. Difficult to communicate with the waiters who speak very quickly and not very smiling with the French I find. But we were well served, I recommend!

The staff is incredibly kind and attentive. The burger was unfortunately dry, not much sauce in it but the fries were good and the pizza was excellent so I’d highly recommand to try their pizza instead of the burgers !

Amazing pizza! We had normal base and gluten free ones and they were both brilliant! Also had the Mac and cheese for our little one and we highly recommend it.

Quizás estaba pasando una mala noche, pero he estado en pizzerías por todas partes y ninguna cocina de pizza decente dejaría salir esa masa de la cocina. Galleta digestiva con salsa y queso.

We ate lunch here as a family and totally underestimated the portion size - luckily there were boxes to pack! The children's menu for £9 is highly recommended; The service was also extremely friendly and very kind to the children. Gladly again!

La ubicación es genial y fácil de encontrar. El servicio fue muy bueno. El tiempo que fuimos era muy tranquilo, así que el servicio fue rápido y la comida llegó rápido. Tenemos un poco de pan de ajo para empezar, que acabamos de compartir, el sabor era exuberante un montón de ajo justo como nos gusta, nos gusta cómo era estilo baguette en lugar de estilo pizza. Tomé lasaña, que era agradable, mucha carne y salsa. Mi compañero tenía la pizza matador que dijo que era sabrosa. Los tamaños de las porciones son realmente buenos, nos gustó cómo la pizza tiene tamaños (hemos estado en algunos lugares donde es un tamaño establecido y ha sido demasiado grande). Una cosa para nosotros era el ambiente se sentía extraño, no nos sentimos relajados. Cuando entramos había alguien que estaba arreglando los cables, no había música de fondo y no había un ambiente real, ya que era bastante tranquilo. Cuando vinimos a pagar el wifi dejó de funcionar, esto no fue culpa del personal y lo intentaron unas cuantas veces con mi tarjeta pero al final se disculparon y me preguntaron si me importaría obtener dinero en efectivo, lo que no fue una molestia. Sin embargo, esas cosas agregadas no nos dieron el ambiente relajante que estábamos buscando.

Told the waitress I don’t want pork and ordered vegetarian pizza ( where there was Salami ) and she didn’t tell us , pizza was made , we flrefus to take it , staff made us pay for it and they ate it in the kitchen front of us.

We've been in Scotland for four months, and overall our experiences eating out have been disappointing... However, Mammas American Pizza in Grassmarket has been a total highlight. Delicious pizza (we had 'The Hot One', extra large as we were extra hung-over), phenomenal value for money, lekker, friendly staff. 10/10 would recommend. Thanks Mammas team! Estuvimos con nuestros 3 hijos de veintitantos (uns de ellas celíaca). Es cierto que las pizzas estaban bien y la masa sin gluten perfectas. Pedimos 5 medianas y nos sobraron 2 que nos las pusieron en cajas para llevarnoslas. El servicio fue bueno, pero el precio está "disparado". Es la pizzeria más cara de mi historia (145€ con propina).

Stopped in you late night pizza and it did not disappoint! A huge bonus was that they had some great drinks and ciders honestly better prepared than a lot of the bars in the area. Staff was friendly, I'd recommend all around!

I used to go to Mamma's when I lived in Edinburgh in the mid to late 90s and loved their food. I've been craving a re-visit and managed to pop in the other day. I am DELIGHTED to say that their menu is, if anything even better now than then, with adding in gluten free and vegan options etc. The food was as lovely as I remembered it, a beautiful fresh dough, crispy base and quality toppings (I had Haggis, Black Pudding and Blue Cheese - don't judge me!) and on my sister's half (we had a 1/2 and 1/2 14 inch) she had nduja sausage and salami and things. The Salad was very generous and didn't skimp on the walnuts. Finally of course the staff who were incredibly friendly and welcoming! I need to get back sooner this time!

Loved the American style cheesy pizza here and the lemon & lime soft drink was simply too good. . Surely a place to come back.

Went in without booking and very lucky to get seated..the food, service and vibes are all spot on!! Definitely coming back again when visiting Edinburgh. The staffs are definitely from another galaxy so amazing!!

We had dinner here during our Edinburgh trip. The pizza’s were surprisingly good. The girls working here were also lovely. They offer different sizes of pizza’s which was great for us because my boyfriend was really hungry while I was not really. Would recommend if you are craving pizza and are looking for a lowkey place

Fantastic restaurant with a warm welcoming atmosphere. The staff were friendly, helpful and extremely knowledgeable not only about allergens (coeliac / gluten free) but also giving recommendations when I was overwhelmed with all the amazing choices. Quite frankly the best gluten free pizza I have had since being gluten free (16yrs). It was flavoursome, the base was incredible and the garlic mayo was great too. They even convinced me to size down in pizzas (I still couldn't finish it all 🙈). Cannot recommend Mamma's enough I just wish we had them near us, not nearly 400 miles away.

Awful! We called in last week for a meal and we were greatly disappointed. The staff were unwelcoming and seemed to be annoyed at having us there. My pizza was burnt and inedible but no one came near us until they wanted to clear the table. My eldest daughter ordered lasagna, however this was too spicy. In fairness they offered to make me a new pizza, but I wanted to leave. The main issue I had wasn't the poor service or the burnt food, it was the 10% service charge added to the bill. We were not aware of this until the bill came. We had two lasagnas, a small pizza plus three soft drinks and a glass of water. My cremated pizza wasn't on the bill, however the total was just under £60. One to avoid!

The food was delicious, the staff was nice and helpful, ambiance was great. We arrived at the restaurant without a reservation and the staff made a place for us despite having a lot of people already. We also had a problem with our drinks and the staff made sure to fix it rapidly and even removed the drinks from our bill which was really not necessary, but still appreciated. We highly recommend this restaurant.

We really enjoyed our meal here. My 12-year-old daughter proclaimed it the best meal of her life. The garlic bread was juicy and the pizzas had generous toppings. Servers were friendly and quick and the ambience really reminded me of a New Jersey pizza joint. Nice little gem.

Thought we would try the beef +jalapeno+pickle pizza. Very little beef and cheese on the pizza. Weird taste with all the additives including the ?taco sauce. Not really a true “American pizza”. Would not recommend this pizza restaurant .

Had a half and half medium pizza absolutely gorgeous. Staff friendly and efficient.. the steak my daughter had was really juicy and served on a hot slab so she could have it to her liking.. will definitely visit next time we are in Edinburgh..

Delicious and highly recommended if you are in Edinburgh. My daughter has celiac disease and here we ate pizza, nachos, and fries. They have a wide variety suitable for celiacs, something that is not found much in Europe. Excellent attention!😍😊👏🏻

Friendly and attentive staff The pizza is good, although it could be better. This is to taste, I like it very fine. The lasagna is surprisingly equally hot in the middle and on the outside. A 10! The price is not excessive for the amount served I will go back if I come back to Edinburgh

Food was great: the service was exceptional. I’ll be honest, I didn’t have the highest hopes for this place, in tourist central, during the height of Festival. But is was amazing. We shared two pizzas/ the chicken taco one and the bacon, goats cheese and red onion marmalade. The pizzas were crammed with toppings and had the loveliest crispy base. The buffalo wings were crispy on the outside and tender in the middle. The vibe was cool and relaxed - it didn’t feel touristy - and the staff were young, super friendly, attentive and very obviously knew what they were doing. Would 100% recommend, and I’ll be back.

We went there during The Fringe Festival and we thought they’re going to represent the best food and services ever. In fact that was an excuse for their bad treatment and food. We tried to talk to the staff but we have been ignored many times, even though they have been asking the other customers about their food and if everything is ok, but not even an eye contact with us like nobody there. We had to shout louder to get there attention and tell them the pizza was burnt and it’s too hard to be chowed ( too crispy) and spicy too, they said our pizza have been forgotten in the oven but they can make us a fresh ones instead. We absolutely said NO! So she got upset and told us she will take it off the bill. Fair enough not to pay for such a pizza but it can be fixed before it’s too late by coming to check on us as we could have different pizza or find a solution.

A delicious and very filling pizza.🍕 Tacos were delicious. The staff is young and hardworking. A nice resting point, a place where you can sit and enjoy.

Arriving to eat outside, we were seated on the terrace. We order drinks and nachos as appetizers. We then choose the dishes and take a little time because we need to translate. When ordering the dishes... we are told that the terrace closes at 8.30 p.m.... but it is 7.45 p.m. It would have been better to warn before we ordered. We asked to be put elsewhere because we don't eat in 10 minutes. The pizzas are not really good. We were disappointed. The dough is hard... the food is not quality and much too fatty. We took the rest away so as not to throw away but we were frankly disappointed with the meal. The burger ordered was poor inside... no sauce, the bun was overcooked and the fries were dry. The next door neighbors found a coin in their pizza. As for us, we ate... unused plates were left lying around on the table throughout the meal... and not a carafe of water on the table. A review is a customer review. When I see the feedback comments trying to justify...it's a shame...the customer reviews are also there to challenge you...and try to improve the customer experience 😊

Booked the day before and was amazed we actually got a table. Pizzas were incredible, salads were massive and the Gluten Free pizza I had was the BEST I have ever had. Utterly awesome and I can't wait to come back <3

Just want to say for this specific day props to the chef/chefs cause the food was beutiful and it was quick but the service was woeful and horrible, staff was young and uninterested they walked past us 10 times in 10 minutes until we had to go in to get some menus then waited another couple before we had to ask if we ordered at out table or the bar (multiple people around us also had to do this after waiting multiple minutes) we ordered our food which was quickly prepared and brought to us, when we had finished our food we we're sat there with no indicator we we're still eating or drinking and the staff just didnt reply when we tried for their attention. After going in and asking for the bill we waited again until they finally brought what they guessed was our bill and we paid and left.

Pizza was great - highly recommend Mamma's sweet nectar! Service was average to poor. Couldn't get attention of staff to order additional drinks. Then couldn't get staff attention to get the bill. It wasn't particularly busy as mid-week rainy evening. Several staff were physically present but not very aware of customer needs.

Called in on a warm rainy night. It was nice with the windows and doors open and the rain poring down outside. The chicken wings are good and so hot you have to let them cool before attacking them. We got two pizzas to share and both came hot and very tasty. Staff were friendly and efficient.

Pizza, super delicious. If you are intolerant to celiac gluten this is your place, they can adapt any pizza and the dough is super delicious. Of course, the tomato stings. I liked it a lot, but for my wife and my son they were too much. They had to ask the child for another pizza with normal tomato, and they charged for it. That's why the three stars.

Lovely staff but the place was lacking atmosphere. No music on which might suit some folk. Pizzas were nice enough but not special. Might go again if nearby and hungry

Happened to find this little gem of a place and had to leave a review. Firstly, the pizza is outstanding and being able to sit outside and soak up the atmosphere made it even better. I would just like to pay a special mention to my server, Maya. Not only did she give us service with a smile from start to finish, she was so attentive and polite, and even gave us some great ideas for places to visit whilst we're here. Amazing service and a credit to your restaurant.

Does not even deserve one star! They treated us in a bad way I guess because we are Muslims!! The pizza is not that great it was burned too We asked for lemonade and rhey gave us sprite. They keep insisting it is lemonade but it is not. 👎🏻

We did not have much time so decided to eat a pizza before going to the airport. The ladies/young girls were nice and quick. But the pizzas… no taste at all!!! The base sauce, the cheese did not have any flavour, and the dough was awful as well

My friends and I went for celebrating the end of school and we weren’t even brought to our table and when one member of staff seen us at the door they ignored us. When at our table, no staff smiled or acted pleasant, and they didn’t take drinks orders. Finally, the pizza seemed microwaved and no one at the table could finish their meal because it was almost inedible. £12 for a 9 inch (small) margherita pizza at that standard is ridiculous.

I'm on a trip from New Zealand. A friend and I got off the open-top tourist bus for lunch and chose Mamma's. I had a simple cheese, tomato and mushroom pizza and my friend had a Texas chilli with all the sides. We also enjoyed a couple of glasses of rose wine. Beautiful meals on a very windy day. Lovely food 🙂

Went in here at 8pm to get a table with my family of 4. We were made to wait for 15 mins, while there were visibly several empty tables outside. I was told by one of the servers that I'd be attended by their colleagues. Another sever came to me, asked me what I wanted and told me that one of their other colleagues will help me out. 20 mins passed by and then I was finally told that their outside seating will be closed in 45 mins and it will take 30 mins to get the pizza ready. Basically, was refused service. Wouldn't ever recommend.

This is a fine spot for a quick, easy meal or if you forget to make reservations and can’t get in somewhere else. It’s basic pizza, apps and drinks - nothing outstanding but nothing bad. They were actually pretty busy while we were there, even in non-peak season.

We had 2 solid salads : Caesar and pomegranate. Great to get tasty veggies on Vacation. Then we had 2 pizzas. Pepperoni and tomato/spinach/garlic. They were tasty!! I took a star off cause the pepperoni wasn’t cooked well , tomatoes were sparse , but this is a great stop for that day you want to kick back and have good food that everyone will like and is reasonably priced. The service was very good, kind. The place was fine, really warm but clean. It was the end of the night and we were grateful to be welcomed in and treated well to good food.

Amazing pizza Nothing else needs to be said. The crust is incredibly made and cooked to perfection. The sauce is fantastic and all together it makes an amazing pizza.

I simply love you guys. You have the best gluten/wheat-free and dairy free pizza I have ever eaten and I can't put into words how much I appreciate these options! The pizza dough is just beyond words, soft and yet crispy, the sauce is perfect as are all the other ingredients. Should you ever plan to expand to Germany, I know a good place :D Thanks a lot, guys! The Best American Pizza in Edinburgh Town d:)

Went here 2 days running when my husband and I went for a mini break in Edinburgh. My husband said the burger was the best one he'd had since he was in the US while in the Royal Navy over 35 years ago. Praise indeed 😃. The service was excellent, staff were amazing, polite, attentive without being overbearing and we thought it was great value for money considering the prime tourist location. I would definitely recommend this little gem if you're in Edinburgh.

Really disappointed. I have a lot of allergies including soya intolerance, nut allergy and I'm celiac, so we booked a table here for a friends birthday after reading good reviews online about plenty of Gluten free options. However what the website fails to mention is that they apparently to now fry everything in soya oil, including the gf bases(?) . So there was nothing I could eat. I asked the waitress (who, to her credit, was fantastic and the only reason I gave service three stars) if the chef could please make me a baked potato, she checked and apparently he refused. If you're serving chips then there should be potatoes on the premises surely (unless they are frozen...) So I paid for half a bag of floppy lettuce and some tinned anchovies because I was starving. To not be able to offer a suitable alternative meal in this day and age, or even tweak the menu slightly for a paying customer, and to feel like such an inconvenience is really not what I need when I rarely eat out anyway. I know my allergies and fairly uncommon but surely you can now see the importance of proper disclaimers online before you arrive and sit down. Had I not asked what the GF base was made from I would have been poorly too as there's no mention of soya whatsoever, even on the allergy matrix in the restaurant. Food also took about an hour to arrive. We would have gone elsewhere but we had booked a table in advance and wouldn't have got in anywhere else at that time of night. Really quite upset.

This is not any American pizza we have ever had. In America we have so many delicious pizza places.

We have been coming here on a regular basis since day one when it opened in the mid 1980’s. Two Canadian guys with pizza that would compare to anything in Naples. Just been again and yet again the pizza was 100%
