It's really cosy, the stuff is super friendly and the food is really good! I liked it a lot!

SHE & HE behind the counter are very nice and friendly. Tap Water To Go also refilled. VERY NICE. 5 stars, stars and estrellas. :-)

Das Jakes Cafe ist eine sehr empfehlenswerte Adresse in Edinburgh. Es befindet sich in sehr zentraler Lage; direkt neben dem St. Christopher's Hostel Edinburgh Old Town. Gäste des Hostels bekommen sogar einen Rabatt-Gutschein für Jakes Cafe. Das Jakes Cafe ist zwar nur ein sehr kleines, dafür jedoch sehr gemütliches Cafe mit sehr schönen Sitzgelegenheiten. Das Personal war sehr nett und freundlich sowie auch hilfsbereit. Kreditkartenzahlung ist auch möglich. Das Jakes Cafe serviert neben sehr leckerem Kuchen und Torten-Stücken natürlich auch Muffins oder Mini-Törtchen sowie verschieden belegte Burger und Baguettes/Sandwich. Dieses tolle Angebot wird abgerundet durch verschiedene Kaffee-Sorten sowie auch Softdrinks wie Schweppes. Möglicherweise gibt es aber auch eine kleine Auswahl an alkoholischen Getränken. Sehr empfehlenswertes Cafe!

The place is spectacular, it coincides with Halloween and they serve you dressed up, curious. The coffee is delicious and you eat proper bread 😋 a 10 for the smoothies!!

Fantastic coffee, wonderful friendly staff, amazing baked goods. Really recommend the cinnamon bun and the cheese, pesto and tomato panini. There's veggie options like veggie sausage. Get yourself a coffee and sit next to the window and watch the world pass by

My croissant was very dry. Probably from the last day. And the warm chocolate only came when we had already finished eating. Otherwise everything was good. The staff is very friendly and the interior is cozy.

Best coffee in town, the staff are great—excellent service. I go out of my way to stop there for my latte on the way to work in the morning because they’re so lovely. Some fantastic chalk pen work on the boards by Dylan—I’d love to see some of his art on the walls! Tara, Cat, Dylan and Charlotte made a 4mo long daily commute bearable.

Little gem of a place where we got square on a roll (lorne sausage for all you non Scots), a latte and a slice of millionaire shortcake, delicious! and at a great price considering the location. The servers were really friendly, polite, prompt, and well presented. There are toilets upstairs. These are unisex toilets, but there is a single disabled toilet next to these if you prefer. This cafe seems to be part of the hostel next door and is only five minutes from Waverley Station main platforms across the road.

Nos encontramos con este café mientras tratábamos de escapar del bullicio de la Royal Mile. Parece acogedor y acogedor y no demasiado ocupado. Originalmente teníamos la intención de ir a tomar una taza de té y sentarnos, pero nos gustó tanto que terminamos quedándonos a comer también. Tiene un ambiente muy relajado, y el personal amable. Estuvimos allí durante unas dos horas al final, después de intentar solo una 'parada rápida'. Recomendaría una visita aquí si quieres encontrar un ambiente relajado y un ritmo más lento en esta gran ciudad.

Friendly cafe. We were 3 adults and 2 kids. We knew the area was quiet so we looked in here to see if there was a table and food. There was and it was great. Recommended.

Welcoming atmosphere and great coffee, I ventured for the BLT which was served warm on a rustic morning roll and was delicious. Lots of sockets available as well for those looking for a quick top up before hitting the sites. Great stop for a quick lunch 👍

Hands down to the best coffee in town 🙇‍♀️ Also to the lovely barista Tara who made my coffee with the biggest smile, for two days in a row and both of them were just delicious.😋 And if you bring your own cup they will make your drink to go in it. ✨🥤

Visited to kill time on a weekday morning. I felt relaxed in the relaxed atmosphere. I was relieved to see the staff pouring out water for my dog.

What a bargain!! Incredible place we found very randomly and gave it a go. Absolutely recommend! Food is great, cooked properly and very tasty. The chicken sandwich was super and only 5 pounds!! And big portions as well. I don’t know why it is kinda unknown but it’s absolutely bargain and very close to pretty much everything, station, city center… Sandwiches come with some chips which is very nice

Close to the hotel and just stopped in for a latte and croissant. Nice cafe, very clean and very very good coffee. Nice friendly staff. Nice selection of fresh pastries and sandwiches. All produce is locally farmed coffee is roasted from cairngorm coffee roasters.

Absolutely lovely staff and calm, easy going environment. Staff were very accommodating and made adjustments with the menu with ease. Absolutely lovely. Food was top notch too and lots of options on the menu to choose from. Really nice, just had a toastie but the bread was a lovely fresh ciabatta.

Jake's is an excellent cafe in the heart of Edinburgh. The staff are outstanding and there is fantastic selection of croissants, cinnamon buns and quiches. Will return 100%.

Just what I wanted: a wonderful currant scone and an aromatic iced latte without the ice. As I never drink hot coffee (unless ill), this was akin to the espresso and half and half I make every day at home. The staff are are warm and inviting; I'll be back!

Full rating for how perfect this little Cafe is. As a visitor from the US, I found the food fantastic, well prepared and served, and the Server was an absolute delight.

Great cafe offering exceptional coffee and fresh food. Highly recommend the quiche. Nice selection of Scottish beer and spirits.

One of very few places for a good coffee in Edinburgh, and the bacon roll freshly made is just out of this world.

Went for a wee friends reunion and what a place! Cannot fault the server George, who despite us all being quite picky and awkward was so cheerful and happy to oblige. Loved the aesthetic of the place and a good bourbon selection which kept us happy. Defo will be back next time in Edinburgh

Visiting Jakes for the first time the decor looked a bit rough with sheets of corrugated roofing on the walls but the staff were friendly and helpful. A few drinks at a table was better than we could manage at other places nearby the Waverley station as the Fringe festival was in full swing and everywhere was packed out. This was in the afternoon so I imagine this place would light up at night and make a great local bar.

Piccolo risto pub con buonissimi panini in centro a Edimburgo, prezzi giusti e piatti buoni, anche le birre sono molto buone e di vario genere.

Cerveses de tirador i ampolles, sense gaire varietat però barates. Menjar estil ràpid però ben fet.

Chris and Jemma are awesome, great craft beer selection, bottles, taps, casks. Best Calamari in Edinburgh. Very helpful bathroom vending machines.

Great bar we went to in Edinburgh when we visited. Became our favourite place to chill after a busy day being a tourist. Food was delish too.

Nice place to relax and catch a coffee. Fairly younger crowd than most other pubs. They also run games on the multiple TVs in house.

Very friendly place for travellers, the bar doubles as reception desk for the Hostel upstairs. Good sélection of beers, one can grab a bite there aswell. Music venues once or twice a week.

Ohhhhh! Yes they are! So, basically I took the train from Birmingham to Edinburgh just to take a selfie outside Edinburgh castle (long story, wont bore you with it). Anyway, with said selfie in the can and with just under two hours left till the train home I happened upon this rather non-descript looking bar in Market St. The place appeared to be full of backpackers (which made perfect sense as I later discovered there was a hostel next door) and was a bit dark and dingy looking. However, taking selfies is hungry work and they had burgers so why not. Anyway, the girl behind the bar was lovely and helpful so after asking for a recommendation I ordered the ‘Highland Cow’ (6oz burger with Haggis and Monterey Jack cheese) and a pint of ale infused lager. First of all I should say that I was very very hungry but this burger really hit the mark. The chips only looked like regular French fries but they were really well seasoned with salt and crushed black pepper and together with the whiskey cream sauce were absolutely awesome! The burger was also well cooked and together with the Haggis tasted greeeeeaaat! The ale/lager was really very nice too and was a good recommendation so all in all enjoyable meal. In summary I was pleasantly rewarded with some excellent service, satisfying burger and a delicious pint so two thumbs up to all the staff at Jake’s Place 😀

Good stop near the train station and shows sport if that's your thing - linked to Belushis and the hostel too and share toilets and kitchen although not menu. 390 a T so not the cheapest but just ok. The haggis is superb but please avoid the deep fried mars bars at a fiver if they still do them - it's nae Scottish at all!! We were treated very well by the Manager after having to vacate our reserved table and were seated at the bar in full view of the TV's. Inflatable sheep are available in the toilet :)

Tenía una vaca hamburguesa Highland aquí con un amigo en octubre de 2017. La hamburguesa estaba bien, las patatas fritas, o debería decir la especia en bastante las patatas fritas, fue excelente. Además, teníamos que más escocesa de platos, un bar frito mars - con Irn Bru empanada. Pequeño, pero bonito comedor con 3 pantallas de Tv, estaban mostrando fútbol americano cuando estuvimos allí. (También, altos canadiense detrás del bar debería ser el rostro al lado de cualquier empresa de maquillaje es lo suficientemente inteligente para alquilar ella). .
