Came here for drinks and was told we are not allowed in because we were wearing an England football shirt on a Euros England match day. When questioned why this is a thing, met by rude staff. Ludicrous rule, won’t be coming here again.

Our recent visit to Mama Liz's was fantastic. The staff were so welcoming & accommodating and the service we received was great. The drinks were exceptional and I'd definitely recommend trying the strawberry daiquiri & mojito's! Our group all had the best time so thanks to all the staff, we most certainly shall return soon.

Had an amazing time here with some friends. The barman was very attentive and made the most amazing strawberry daiquiri. We then headed upstairs for some food and every one of us commented on how good the food was. The server really looked after us. We will definitely be back again. Very good value for money and amazing staff.

Great Cajun food, reasonably priced, excellent service and all with a lovely themed atmosphere. What more could you want..?

Friday evening in March, half the restaurant was empty - 60 minutes between the order of 2 basic menu meals & the arrival of the food!! Fortunately the meals were good when they finally arrived.

Went for lunch, the waiter was very polite and attentive. He made sure our visit was a most pleasant experience. The food was delicious and although it was quite quiet there was still a good vibe. Definitely going back.

One of the best vegan burgers i have ever had! It was flavoursome and well cooked. The chips were also good. It's a nice place that's also great for a night out

We've been to Mama Liz's a few times & always enjoy great food & although it is quite noisy at times especially when they have a large group in it usually doesn't stop you enjoying your meal. I booked a table last week & was told they had a large group coming so we went a little earlier than usual. When we arrive we were greeted at the bar straight away & after ordering drinks we were shown to our table which was in one of the corners but the large group (a bridal gang) started to arrive & even my wife asked if we should not bother & go somewhere else but I said no we'll bear it out. A young girl Alicia came over to take our food order & I was surprised when she said "sorry & looked over at the group, would you like to eat downstairs where it is not so noisy "! We said yes please so she took us downstairs where although there was bar noise it was certainly better than being upstairs struggling to hear ourselves talk. Even the person who I assumed was the restaurant manageress came over to us when we were seated & smiled at us & said please don't leave me on her own up there & laughed. THE FOOD:- As always was classical south american food, excellently cooked, presented very nicely & was really full of flavors. Exactly what we expect when we dine at Mama Liz's. THE MENU:- There's lots of choices & you are really spoilt with choosing one dish for each course. PRICES:- Every dish is reasonably priced & nothing to expensive. We will be back quite soon but really must SHOUT A BIG THANK YOU TO ALICIA for making our evening enjoyable instead of just bearable. She was fantastic, friendly, helpful & I would certainly recommend this restaurant & the staff to anybody looking for a good evening out.

We were meeting up with friends for the weekend and decided to try this place for a drink and some food . We sat in the bar area in big comfy sofas for a few drinks before going through to a dinning area to eat with basic wooden table and chairs . The food was great and a nice change from the norm. . Between us we tried the goat curry , jambalaya and gumbo and all were good value and very tasty There is a proper restaurant area upstairs where an open mic night was taking place but we were so comfortable downstairs we stayed there the whole evening . I gather it’s very popular at the weekend but it wasn’t too crowded when we were there and we found a great place to unwind

I waited patiently in the cue for 30 minutes and politely asked to use the toilet. I was refused and asked to relieve myself on the street ( said delicately). Threatening and inconsiderate establishment. Local treated inappropriately. Good luck to visitors.

Visited with friends and their toddlers for an early Saturday dinner. Service was excellent, nothing was too much for the staff, they bought out some strawberries for the little ones we were with, and ensured high chairs were set up for us too. Food was delicious, portions were incredibly generous. I had the fajitas and my husband had the jerk chicken (yum!). We’ll definitely go back again.

This restaurant is absolutely faultless. The menu is extensive and varies between traditional and unusual and all meals are generous, well priced and absolutely delicious whether they be for carnivores, vegetarians or vegans.The staff too are exceptional and the restaurant manager knows all her regulars well, so if you want something out of your comfort zone, she knows exactly what to recommend whether it be food or drink. After six years of regularly attending the excellent music at the Sunday Sessions, we have moved to Sleaford, but still return frequently as the whole experience is the best way to chill out and de-stress ready for the week ahead.

Recommended by a friend and found it to be lovely. The food was so tasty and different also a good price. The restaurant upstairs is really well set out and a nice atmosphere. Would definitely recommend.

We dropped in for lunch. It was quiet but the service and food were outstanding. I tried catfish, for the first time. I was a little apprehensive but love trying new foods,so thought I'd give it a go. Tender, firm and tasty. And I've been craving it ever since. If you like seafood at all, this is well worth a try. It was exceptionally good. And the corn bread! Oh my word. So good! My husband had the beef fajita which was also excellent. There service was so friendly and helpful. A really great experience.

Dropped in here for a drink before heading for home. I wish we hadn't bothered. The staff were more interested with his mate sat at the bar. Finally we were served and sat down only to be interrupted by a foul mouthed young girls who took great delight in shouting and swearing at the people who were with her. She was told to be quiet for her to kick off again. Goodness knows what the people having a meal must have thought. Finally she was ushered out not by members of staff but her friends only for her to gob off at them once outside.

Went late Saturday afternoon. Very quiet at the time but awesome looking place. Great music playing. Worst cocktails I've ever had though. When I complained I was told "it's too warm". Too warm to make ice in 18° weather? I'd expect it removed from menu/an alternative given.

Kinda strange as I was visiting this place for a music night, I knew they had a bar and a cellar. Well I was pleasantly surprised they had a restaurant on the third floor. So I had pre-booked a table a hour and half before the gig. When we arrived we was so shocked how cool this place was!! So big and little corridors go off here and there, you have to go even for there cocktails or beers and more just to wonder around the building. Anywhere I digress, We were seated and looked through the menu (so much choice) we chose the Bourbon street platter waited 30-40 minutes for it too come but I knew this was freshly cooked absolutely delicious worth the wait and equally priced. If you visit Stamford you need to go here.

Took my wife to sample the soul food at Mama Liz in Stamford. My wife went for the Steak and I did the Fajitas. Enjoyed everything although 3 tortilla’s were never going to be enough to wrap all of the meat veggies and sauce!!Clean, tasty and reasonable value, gonna need five tortilla’s next time though!

We visited Mama Liz for the first time recently to see Big Boy Bloater live and ate in the restaurant before heading down into the cellar for the gig. The food was great, ribs, nachos, chilli poppers were just a small selection of what we had. The bar was great too, décor was unique and the beer, first class.The cellar was an ideal location for live music and we all had a really good time. Definitely will be returning and now on their mailing list!

We had initially booked at another restaurant but had discovered our booking had fallen through.I had eaten at Mama Liz’s one Christmas and enjoyed it so much, I constantly asked my husband to take me back.As luck would have it they were not particularly busy this night so we were able to get a table.

After placing a large order of gin and tonics at the upstairs bar, I said to the girl serving us to add a drink to the order for herself. Her reply was “I already have”. I told her that I appreciate her honesty. She was short, had dyed blonde hair and a large(ish) bust.

I’m not native to Stamford, but I have it on reasonably good authority that the pub downstairs occasionally entertains a bit of a questionable clientele. Thankfully this seems to in no way reflect on the food, which turned it to be anything but questionable. Well mostly. I had the Gumbo, which was fantastic, but came with a piece of cornbread roughly the sweetness, consistency and shape of your average piece of lemon drizzle cake. I mean, sure, it was good, but even as the adventurous type it would have felt thoroughly strange to dip it in the sauce. I ended up having it as a sort of pre-dessert, dessert instead.

First time visiting this restaurant and I’m kicking myself as to why I’ve not been here before. When we arrived I was worried when we entered as the decor looked a bit tired, but I needed not to worry. The food was amazing and the portion sizes were massive. I was spoilt for choice on the menu and the staff really friendly. I’ll definitely be returning in the near future.

I went with friends to a gig in 'The Voodoo Lounge', which is basically a small music venue in the cellar. Ended up having a superb meal first, with an excellent selection of great beers. Service was excellent, food outstanding. Warm welcome a a great atmosphere. I will return.

Looking for something a little different, with a bit of a spicy bite? Mama Liz offers cajun & soul food, classics as well as contemporary dishes and a fine selection of ales, if that's your tipple.

The menu has a good range of mainly spicy dishes, catering well for both carnivores and vegetarians! On my latest visit I enjoyed a bowl of steamed mussels in white wine sauce as a starter, followed by the tasty Texas chuck steak chilli, a dish with nice chunks of meat rather than the mince version most often found, and served with plenty of nachos and jalapeños alongside the accompanying rice. Along with a couple of glasses of a very tasty Pinot Noir, the perfect meal!

We came for a dinner with friends, the restaurant is tucked away upstairs and only had one table busy when we arrived. There was no music playing and it felt flat in there. The table was lovely and large and everyone could see each other. The decor is nice, unique which is great but it didn't feel much different to that last time I had been in 6 years previously. Food was nice with huge portions.

Came across Mama Liz's soul food shack and the Voodoo Lounge in course of following the SoapGirls tour. What more could you ask for? A very friendly reception, great beer and then a delicious spicy meal all in very pleasant surroundings. Thanks to Ben for making us feel like "Old friends " the other guys and girls working there where all great people. Very generous portions and at sensible prices.

What a find. We've popped in after a long walk on the hottest day. Had selection of tapas , all delicious and well seasoned. Lovely service too. Will be back. Highly recommended.

We have been very fortunate to eat in some excellent restaurants over the years - and Mama Liz's tops them all, for a chilled and friendly atmosphere, with delicious home cooked food.

I regularly visit this venue to attend gigs - they host a range of bands of different genres very frequently in the downstairs bar, in the upstairs bar they have a more chilled out vibe and on the weekends they have a mixture of music and up another level is a fab cocktail bar.

Had the most wonderful time at Mama Liz’s and would highly recommend it. We held our wedding reception at the venue with cocktail bar upstairs, bar and restaurant on ground floor and live music in the basement. For me Mama Liz’s is the best live music venue/bar and restaurant within 50 miles and the food is seriously soo tasty.

Attended a wedding reception and had a lovely time. There's a kind of indie, left of centre feel, throughout, and plenty of interesting decor. The main bar is spacious, big wooden tables, plenty of seating. The downstairs Voodoo Lounge is like a little cavern - perfect for intimate dj sets and live performance. And there's a third floor, restaurant area - nice and cosy. Great venue.

Came here for a small family birthday celebration, staff were polite and welcoming, pre-ordered starters were ready and waiting for us. Have been here 4 or 5 times now and never had a bad experience - food was fantastic as always - looking forward for another excuse to book again

I love this place. The staff are super welcoming and the price is reasonable but by far the best thing about Mama Liz's is the food. You won't find better ribs anywhere (and I have done some extensive research) - I love this place so much.

After often being surrounded by the choice of pasta, Chinese or Indian food, it is so great to find somewhere that offers food with a difference. Cajun/creole food isn’t a common find around here but it’s all really well done.

Mama Liz’s food is a delicious tasty treat from new orleans. The restaurant & bar has a great welcoming atmosphere and there is something on the menu for everyone. I have been for light snacks and nibbles, meals with my family, and for work parties - they cater for all. The staff are very attentive and nothing is too much trouble. The bar is great selling loads of beers, cocktails & more (there is so much choice)!

Food was superb - with great options for the vegetarians in the group too, which went down well. Service was great, without being intrusive, and the whole place has a great atmosphere. We were a group of six, all easily catered for and very happy at the end of our meal!

We've eaten here a few times now and the food is always fantastic, 2 of us are vegan and we are always catered for and our omnivorous colleagues are very impressed with the vegan dishes.

Great Christmas meze, 6 dishes of freshly cooked tasty authentic food served attentively with a good times feel to the decor and ambiance. The fire pit on the deck made it feel extra special. We go every Christmas and love it.

This restaurant is not only fantastic value for money, but the food is delicious. My boyfriend and I went on a Wednesday evening and enjoyed 2 courses, with a bottle of great wine for £30 for two. We took the wine home, as both driving and it was no problem.

Myself and 4 friends visited Mama Lizzy's on Friday night. We entered into a bar area on the ground floor, it had a good atmosphere, staff are friendly and offered cocktails so we had reasonably priced cocktails (you can buy individual drinks or jugs which work out cheaper) before being seated in the restaurant upstairs. There are often live bands playing at weekends there. Thoroughly enjoyed the food and there was plenty of it, luckily we shared a starter of nachos otherwise we may not have been able to finish our mains. The dining area isn't big but cosy. Advise to reserve a table, especially at weekends to avoid disappointment. Definitely go again.

Really enjoyed our first visit here. Lovely decor and atmosphere but shame it was a bit quiet for a Friday evening. Very friendly waitress, food arrived quite quickly and plenty of it. All of us are vegetarian and one of us GF as well. There were enough options on the menu to choose from. Food was well cooked and tasty. Highly recommended

For years Mama Liz's has been one of my favourite places in Stamford. I've seen the changes of crowd and how the restaurant & bar has changed with that. Back when I used to go it was always just for drinks and events, it wasn't really known for food. But now... WOW. It still has the fantastic selection of drinks, great staff, a wicked venue room, PLUS now it has one of the best jerk chicken dishes I've ever eaten. The spice levels were insane - EXACTLY how I like them. Beautifully char grilled chicken in a spicy tomato sauce. Absolutely delicious. This is easily one of the best places to eat in Stamford, and perhaps one of my favourite places I've ever eaten at. Big love.

Good range of drinks and the food is great value for money. They also often have live bands. A guaranteed great night out if BlackHawkDown are playing.

The venue is tucked away but there is a basement for live bands so it makes sense - it is always lively at night, lots of live DJs, funky dance floor and huge bar. Outdoor seating space as well as indoor restaurant areas with a second floor - perfect for private parties. Always great fun, with an artistic, Deep South style. It is very cool.

My husband and I visited mama liz's on a Sunday afternoon. Thanks to the lovely weather we were able to enjoy our cocktails in the outside seating area. All the staff were very friendly and more than helpful and the food was fantastic. The Sunday menu was 'bar bowls' so we ordered a few different ones to share and everything was really tasty (especially the ribs!) we really can't wait to go back here, brilliant food, cocktails and staff!

Mama Liz's is a great place for people of all ages with a wide range of music at different times of the week and sometimes during the day. Whether eating in the restaurant or snack in the bar or garden, the choice is very different and interesting well worth trying something different.

We rocked up over an hour early with 50 people in tow having just got married...They didn't bat an eyelid & within minutes more staff arrived .... completely took care of us all Everything from the venue to the food to attitude of staff was exactly what we wanted.. chilled lovely place and peopleWe didn't want traditional or conventional that isn't us .. we wanted our nearest dearest fam and friends to get together and just have fun and share our day ..They seemed to enjoy hosting and despite the heat... the noise of us all Every drop of fizz was ice cold ... no mean feat on the hottest day in 41 years ... when we got hot they just reset up downstairs where it was cooler From the youngest guest at 1 to the eldest of 92 ... nothing was a problem Our day was the best because of here ... we ate, drank and danced Pure joy Thanks to you ... we must have stressed you in some way but you didn't let on at all Thank you so much

Great food and prompt service on a Saturday night.Have not been for a while and took a couple of friends who had never been.We had steak, prawn, fajitas, ceaser salad and some nachos.Every loved that the portions were good sizes and all priced very well. PROSECCO only £18 a bottle and beer £4 a pint. Also Big jug of strawberry daiquiris went down well at £25 Good vibe and great service.

Have visited a number of times now when in Stamford and I just love this place.It's like several venues under one roof, bar, garden bar, restaurant / cocktail bar, cellar bar for bands; something for everyone.Weekend nights are great and I especially enjoy the live bands that play in the bar on Sunday afternoons, always a nice mixture of friendly people in there, it's a perfect way to round the weekend off, really laid back.We've also eaten in the restaurant upstairs several times, very good food and even better service; in fact all of the staff both in the restaurant and the bars are great, they make the place and I always look forward to going back there, hope next time is very soon, just wish we had a place like this where I live .... or maybe I should just move to Stamford lol, it's a beautiful town with lots of very good pubs and restaurants and for me Mama Liz's is the best of them all.

Good quality bar with food, really enjoyed the music and the atmosphere , it's not haute cuisine , but hey if you want a fun night out and god value go here !

Our group of four went on Sunday evening hoping for Jambalaya or steak and unfortunately they were out of both. Our second choices turned out to be very tasty, pork, chili and chicken fajitas. The pitcher of margaritas was enough for two drinks for each of us. The desserts were overpriced and disappointing so find another place to end your meal. Music was excellent.

As a musician travelling to many clubs in Britain it was a real pleasure to come to Mama Liz's and find not only a terrific venue downstairs in the Voodoo Lounge, but also a restaurant upstairs serving really tasty food. When I said I was vegan I was told it was no problem and was served a delicious totally vegan Mexican platter.

Recently attended their first quiz night. Unfortunately for us, we were the only team there. However we split up into two teams of two and played anyway, which was brilliantly accommodating of the staff and quiz master! We had the Jambalaya and Gumbo, which we're both excellent meals. The staff were super friendly and I'd say the pricing was more than fair.

Large, raw, late night drinking venue. The place in Stamford you're most likely to hang with the hipster crowd. Best in the summer when the terrace, and everywhere else for that matter, is packed. They used to have comedy nights down in the basement which were superb. Food is bit hit or miss but not surprising as this venue tries to be all things to all people but spreads itself too thinly. Have a few pints of their ultra strong draught cider and you'll soon stop noticing the scruffy decor.

Great place to meet, eat and listen to the music. Various rooms with different functions - bar, restaurant and Voodoo lounge with live music. Great menu if you you are into Deep South food, with other specialities, all fairly priced. Good selection of beers, wines and cocktails. Helpful, polite staff. Atmospheric venue in an old ?warehouse with outside seating. Council carpark 50 yards away -free on Sundays.

Love the alternative feel of the place (important in conservative Stamford), very tasty food and great range of drinks.

It started off well enough with a lovely room upstairs for the cocktail demonstration, but steadily went downhill. The bartender lost control a bit telling one of our party who was a bit too enthusiastic pouring her shots to " poison yourself on that stuff if you like " , then serving a Pernod drink to one of the girls and then refusing to do the same for another saying , " it's not a free bar " . The final nail in the coffin was when the greasy , arrogant manager pushed on of our party aside to grab hold of a glass being taken outside . They took a lot of money off us and treated us like we were a real nuisance- we will DEFINITELY not be going back

Beer and a buger+fries £10 even. Really enjoyed the environment, lots of beer selection. Solid menu, outdoor seating which is nice depending on the season of course. Also dance floor downstairs for weekends.

Been here several times to listen to a Folk group. Great music & a very pleasant environment. Good, filling food and helpful staff.

A unusual building with a wonderful two tier outside area. Beautiful in the summer evenings. Inside are three floors with bars, restaurant and music lounge. A fun place to eat and drink. Something very different to the rest of the bars/restaurants in Stamford. Food was really lovely. All "soul food" and really tasty.

I've not had a full sit down meal in the main restaurant area, but I've eaten in the bar several times, and enjoyed many times at the bar, in the (now enlarged) beer garden, an been to many gigs downstairs in the 'voodoo lounge'.Great staff here - who can knock up some fantastic cocktails - probably some of the best cocktails in the area. Several real ales kept well, and craft beer in bottles too. Keg Brewdog (Punk IPA) too. So a good range with something for everyone.The bar gets very busy at the weekends later on - upstairs turns into a decent cocktail bar.Gigs are great here - old school cellar venue with its own bar. sound is great with a dedicated sound engineer.

This will be a short review. I should start by saying that we didn't eat here so can't comment on that side of things however let's talk about the bar. It's a bar. The pics on this site make the place look a lot better than it is. I wish I'd have took some of the awful toilets and sticky floors. This struck me as a place for students to hang out and have a cheap pint. What wasn't cheap was the cocktails and if you know your cocktails or what a decent cocktail should taste like, this place will disappoint. The waitress tried twice to get our mojitos to taste a little less like dishwasher cleaner but when your using pre mixed ingredients she was fighting a loosing battle. For those of you who have read my other reviews you will know that a poor review from me is few and far between.

I got here a bit late to eat, but from the looks of the menu, and those that were eating, it looked great. As far and drinks and entertainment, they had a good selection and played good music. I liked the atmosphere and it was a well thought out venue.All the staff were very friendly and talkative, and later on in the evening I made good use of the cocktail bar. The guy was making to order and did a great job.

Different band every week....brill event. Mexican/Spanish atmòspher super friendly staff. Try it for youself.

Stayed in Stamford one night and ate here. Absolutely delicious food. I had ribs served with salad and 2 corn cobettes. Best ribs ever. And I've eaten a few! My friend had cajun chicken - excellent! Go there, you won't be sorry!

Early Saturday evening the bar was buzzing; quieter when we moved upstairs to eat.The decor is worth a visit on its own, and the younger ones had certainly not seen anywhere like it before.The food is Creole/Cajun style, some hot, some not; mains around £12 to £14.Jambalaya, gumbo, catfish and ribs were all voted as excellent in a family group ranging from 10 to 70+.chocolate brownie maybe the best I've ever tasted!!Good real ale, interesting cocktails............and you can park across the road for free after 6pm.

Went as a night out whilst visiting our son who lives in Stamford, great atmosphere, no pressure, fantastic food and just a great evening. Highly recommended .. Oh yes .. You will find the restaurant upstairs, but a drink downstairs will set a lively scene if you like first .. Thank you !

Not in the centre of Stamford so unless you know about Mama's you might miss it. Love the baby back ribs. They sell there sauces behind the bar. 4 types and the Diablo (scotch bonnet & habanero) is VERY hot !

In what a groovy place! Totally unique decor, candlelit, dark red walls, occasional skulls in the recesses lit up with twinkly light, parasols hanging from the ceiling and photos of jazz players dotted around. Wooden artefacts, beaded chandelier lights making a totally cool scene! And that's just the decor! Met up with friends to enjoy evening cocktails and nibbles on the top floor. Great service, friendly welcome.Ground floor is cosy bar - wooden floorboards, big sofas, and there is a basement for bands. Definitely will go back to enjoy the food next time which gets good reviews!

What a great find this is. Ten of us enjoyed a very good meal: racks of ribs, island curry, pork loin, gumbo, jambalaya and nachos with pulled pork. Full to the brim we made our way down to the cellars below to hear Hunter & the Bear supported by the Tin Pigeons. A wonderful night was had by all. A super restaurant and very good atmospheric music and comedy venue. We will be back.

On Valentines night me and my fella where travelling from visiting relatives and passed this place when we were both really hungry and decided to chance stopping and see if there was any room for us. A great move.I really liked this place, yes its seen better days but it has a sort of rock chic appeal about it and I can see it would also make a great night out, pity we missed the live band that had been on earlier.We obviously hadn't booked and they were happy to squeeze us in. My fella had Texas Chilli at £11.95 which he really enjoyed and it had solid pieces of steak in, like we make at home, rather than just minced beef which is sadly often the norm. I had the Cajun seasoned pork loin with a mushroom and rum sauce and sautéed Cajun potatoes at £11.95 and it was superb. What a find. The waitress was lovely and we didn't have to wait too long for it to be served and when it came it was all piping hot.Very impressed!If you want a casual nights dining in a great atmosphere with music and good food, this is the lace to go in Stamford. Next time we go we will certainly call in here.

Visiting Mama Lizs on a cold January night was well worth it. Arriving early with my partner we ordered a couple of soft drinks, dry January for us, and went to find a seat in the bar area. Our table was soon ready upstairs, we sat and started to make our choices from the menu, a good choice of starters and mains, my partner went for Pulled Pork and i went for Shredded Mojo Chicken, both served with salad and toasted bread, both very tasty and not over filling, a great way to start our evening. For the main course I opted for Jambalaya and my partner Island Chicken Curry, my Jambalaya was packed with flavour, loads of muscles, smoked meat, veg and rice, my partners Curry was packed with Chicken, sultanas and veg, great flavour without being too spicy, we both just about managed to clear our plates, with just enough space for dessert, I chose Hot Fudge Sundae a Chocaholics delight and my partner Fosters Bananas, bananas cooked with rum, a New Orleans dish and tasty with a kick. A great meal in a unique venue, a place I would highly recommend, it cost £54.00 for the 3 courses and drinks, great value in my opinion, somewhere i would recommend to anyone.

I visited the Soul Food Shack about a month ago. I am only writing this review now because I have just finished writing a scathing review on the same meal in Uppingham last night.I was always curious about this place as I constantly pass it as I live in the area & one day whilst at a loose end & feeling a tad hungry decided to pop in. I love my spicy food & after looking through the menu decided to go for the Chilli Con Carne.I thought twice about ordering as I was the only person in here & was a little wary. I asked the chap who served me if the Chilli was spicy & he said "yes quite". I asked him to ask the Chef if he could spice it up a bit to which he replied "Of course, no problem".When the dish come out I could tell I had made the right choice, it looked so tasty & a good portion. When I tasted it I thought good choice. As I started to go further in to the dish I could tell there was something different about this dish. The Chef actually mixes chuck steak in with the minced beef giving it a lovely twist on the traditional Chilli. I can honestly say this is one of the best Chilli's I have ever tasted in my life ! !The staff were really friendly & attentive. I have read the reviews on this place & I do agree the place does need a bit of a revamp however the colour scheme & the theme in here is really vibrant & uplifting. So if you were to give it a little bit of a face lift I would stay along these lines because you are different from any other eatery or pub in the area.Well done ! !

It's now been a year since we discovered this absolute gem of a place, tucked away in off-beat Stamford. We have been every Sunday since and love it every bit as much as we did when we found it. Sunday Sessions at 4.00pm is our tonic and sends us off de-stressed and recharged for the week ahead. The bands are consistently wonderful, the food is unusual and of a very very high standard, the house wines are excellent value and the atmosphere SO relaxed. What makes it even more special is the hostess, Valley. We have never met a more professional "front of house"....52 visits in the last year and we have always felt really special, as does every visitor. Thank you to all the team there for creating such a wonderful and unique place....we look forward to seeing you 52 times in 2016!

We booked a table for 8 people for a friends birthday. When we booked we were not advised that the menu would be limited due to the time of year!!!The food available was 'snack' type food and not what we were expecting after reviewing the standard menu on the website. The ribs had very little meat on them and the burgers were dry. The nachos and wings were very nice, but not really what anybody actually wanted!Will not go again!

We spent New Years Eve at this wonderful restaurant and music venue. The food was delicious and staff were friendly and attentive. I have special dietary requirements and they catered for these without fuss and my meal was yummy! After we had eaten we went downstairs to the Voodoo Lounge where we were treated to a fabulous Reggae band for the rest of the night. This place is a real gem and will definitely visit again when next in Stamford.

Very smelly pub in need of a revamp, good music but quite a dirty feel.Bouncers very rude, and a nasty glass collector who abuses you whenever possible.If ;y;ou want a one off ok, otherwise steer clear of this place, its a really dirty horrible hole, with a damp smelly cellar underneath

We were here on a party night. They served nachos to start, tasty but the chips were we dried out. Salad and ribs next. The salad was very fresh and tasty, with soft cheese and balsamic dressing. The ribs lacked much sauce or flavour. That was followed by jambalaya. It was nicely spiced, with chicken and chorizo. They also bought chips to the table, so a bit of a crab fest! Profiteroles closed the culinary parade.Service was a bit hit and miss, they couldn't quite cater for all of us, the food okay and the ambiance raucous.

Food brilliant, member of party had food allergies, her needs were catered for. Service very good,prompt and friendly. Music was rather loud so we all had to shout. Seating very good. Choice of food was very good. Toilets clean, everywhere clean.

Reading the review below. Must have been a bad day. Every time I go here the food is fantastic the people who work there are friendly as hell and the drinks are amazing. Honestly awesome!!

My friend booked this place for 8 of us girls for her 25th birthday, we booked before Halloween, however 2 days before we were due to arrive they called us and said 'have you pre ordered because were fully booked and need to make sure we have enough food' my friend said that we had not been asked to do this but that we could provide our orders the next day via e-mail which they requested. We provided the orders the next day, 7 of us wanting the burgers as they looked delicious. Unfortunately upon arrival they said our order had not been received and they only served burgers until 6pm and only downstairs? So we all had to change our order in a matter of minutes, 2 members of the party were vegetarian and pescatarian and picked goats cheese tart which they returned saying they had ran out of, so one picked fish and the other could only eat nachos as they had no other vegetarian option available. The drinks to ages to arrive, please be advised they do serve Long Island Ice Tea but don't advertise it on the menu? The Moijito's are awful and taste like mint dishwater. Not worth it. 25 minutes later the waitress returns to advise they can't do large nachos, only meduim, not sure why this is so difficult because nachos come from a bag and I'm sure they could have put a few more on the plate, one of the party said she would have small instead of medium nachos to compensate so the vegetarian of the group could have large nachos for her dinner but they said they couldn't do this, because they had already 'started cooking them'When the dinner did arrive it was, dreadful to say the least, 4 members having steak, all left theirs saying they were very salty, none of them adding salt themselves. I myself left the cheesy chips, as did another member because they were also overly salty. The jerk chicken is microscopic, not even a full chicken breast. Thanks catfish curry, a picture is attached, honestly looked like sick. Apologies but it couldn't be described as anything else.Upon asking to speak to a manager I found out I was, she apologised several times but the night was already ruined, the waitresses didn't know what they were doing, they were slow and just sloppy in all honesty, we had one portion of nachos deducted from the bill and the cheesy chips and all got a free shot, but to be honest the damage was done. Oh and the fire alarm went off which is quite unnerving when you're being served dinner, the waitresses didn't twitch and gave a look like it happens all the time, none of the other customers made an attempt to get up.All in all, the food is more than poor and the cocktails are not worth the £6.50 price tag, my friend found her 25th birthday to be ruined by this after having such high expectations.Avoid at all cost.
