Food was amazing, so good I order 2 extra times to try more food. I love the chicken boa really good size portion and has enough spicy and zing to it. I then tried the chicken wings wow. They were so yum and had this homemade chilli sauce. I then got the pork and prawn wonton that the waitress said is handmade and got the ribs. All of it was 10/10 Highly recommend it. They have bubble tea too.

I got food from here and this place will never ever see me again. It was outright horrendous. One of the worse places I have ever been in my life. The customer service was rude and I couldn't believe it. Avoid this place at all costs. I’ll never show my face here ever again.

Just below average. Heavy on industrial ingredients and msg. It’s a one off visit. I was definitely hoping for better given I’d walked around the market to find a spot for a bite to eat.

This is the worst meal I’ve had in a very long time: cold, bland, chewy, clearly using frozen ingredients. It is a shocker. The staff was rude and clearly here to rip you off your money and not care about the quality of the food or service.

A really disappointing experience ordering from deliveroo, having gone in with high hopes. Ordered a prawn sriracha stir fry which arrived stone cold and looked very small. When I poured the ‘stir fry’ on to the noodles, I was shocked to find that my £11 had only bought me 4 prawns and 2 small heads of broccoli. Upon eating, there was so much chilli and sriracha that it was almost unbearable to eat - and I normally eat pretty spicy food. Hopefully this was just one bad day, but I would advise caution before ordering a delivery. Have added a picture for anyone interested in seeing the Mamalan take on a ‘stir fry’ 🤣

This used to be a great place under different ownership. Used to do great dumplings. Now it is bang average. For starters we had some wings and which were ok and some dumplings which were not very good. For the main we had prawns in a chilli sauce. Prawns were nice but the rice and the salad that came with it were tired and had not been freshly prepared. I wouldnt go back.

Brixton Village Market is very quiet by 8.30pm on a Sunday evening when we arrived because by this time, a lot of the restaurants are closed. However, Chinese restaurant Mamalan was still brightly lit and looked welcoming so we took a seat at one of its outside tables and ordered. We skipped starters and went straight for the mains. I ordered the stir fry sweet chilli chicken and my girlfriend the chilli prawns. My dish was attractively presented on a china plate with wooden chopsticks. The fried chicken was quite tasty, if a little bit tough on the outside, and the treacly chilli sauce had some fire to it. Boiled white rice accompanied, which was soft and tender, and a salad of red cabbage and spring onions complemented my meal well. However, I got serious food envy when I tried one of the tiger prawns on my girlfriend’s plate, which was plump, juicy and bursting with flavour, and made me wish I’d ordered the same as her. The only negative about the meal was that the jasmine tea my girlfriend ordered didn’t arrive but it still appeared on the bill, so I had to ask for it to be removed. Our waitress was apologetic and agreed with no fuss, however they weren't busy so there was no excuse for forgetting this. Nevertheless, I would return.

I ordered a drink yesterday, they run out of boba but still sent the drink without informing me that there isn’t any tapioca. I didn’t even get my money back when I told them about it today. Despite the tapioca not being included the drink was really nice. Today i went and reported the issue with no help from the lady. The drink was WATER. too much ice & no flavour . Terrible . We use to come to mama lan and the soups were awesome . Dumplings were lush and basically everything on the menu was delicious. Every time We’ve visited We get served by the same Brazilian girl so as today . She handed out menus full of food, looked like starters we haven’t ordered . Then had a rather weird attitude not sure if it was towards us or just having a bad day . Didn’t think much of it as we can all have a bad day . We ordered food and they were missing a few things in the menu to start with, which wasn’t said when handing the menu’s. We ordered 2 soups and 2 starters . Niether of the soups had taste . We literally had to pour the sauce and veggies that come with the starters and that didn’t even help . I asked for salt but was ignored.. We couldn’t finish the food because it just wasn’t any good . We asked for the bill and they didn’t even bother asking if we liked the food neither why we had just left it there . I made a small comment about the food saying it had changed and wasn’t as pleasing as before, same again was ignored and the lady replied with a thank you . We left feeling like someone had just nicked us . We literally had to go the another restaurant on the other side of the village because we were so hungry but just couldn’t finish the food . It’s very upsetting to have to pay for something that doesn’t taste like anything . It’s not like I was being picky about the taste, it just didn’t taste like anything ... I hope next time if I risk coming again service changes and I also hope the soups regain their taste .

No suave, blanda.

My partner and I ordered two mains and a couple of sides on a Saturday evening. We waited 1 hour for our food to arrive and noticed that we were missing one of the main courses. After calling the restaurant and after a lot of discussed we were promised we would get a refund for the main course we were missing and if we ordered a new main course via Deliveroo they would arrange for that to be refunded in full for us. The restuarant however were too busy to call Deliveroo for us so we did ourselves. Upon calling Deliveroo, who then called the restaurant, Deliveroo told us that the restaurant said they woild only refund one delivery cost and one main course. This meant we only received a refund on the item we didn't receive and were getting no compensation for waiting 2 hours for our new missing main course to arrive. The restaurant which we called again refused to let us speak to the manager as he was 'too busy in the kitchen.' Definitely won't be ordering from here again. No customer service and the foods not that great anyway.

Me and my friend went for a late lunch/ early dinner to this place. I was interested in a lunch deal which was proclaim on the board. We had ordered a soup and I double£8.50 for a main course and a drink. I checked with the waitress if we can have the deal. £8.50 for a main meal and a tea. My friend got fed with chicken dumplings even thought she is vegetarian and ordered vegetarian dish and I had my tofu soup. All I could tasted was a very salted water. I don't mind blunt flavour but I expect at least a flavour. If I want a salt water I would cook it myself. In the end we got charged £12.00 instead proclaimed £8.50 just because the waitress entered in the system too late and the till didn't let her have it. She didn't tell us. She just gave us bill. When I asked her why is it £12.00 for my dish she explained that she entered it too late in to system. This is not our mistake! Not a good service and price too high for salted water! One star for the friendly staff. Only reason I didn't kick up a fuss while I was there was a friend (who has just started eating meat again after 15+ yrs) had chosen it. The recomended cocktail was where we started, and that was terrible (apple juice and rum with a stupid name for £7.50); it only got worse after that. Over cooked, reheated, microwaved at times (I suspect). Giant flabby, tough Bao, with pork no better than that sickly "pulled pork" stuff you get in supermarket readymeals. Fried chicken was clearly not made fresh, or even refried for the table, just barely warm, and so so so dry, Same deal with the chicken rice - tough and chewy meat, with some off-the-shelf sweet chilli sauce slathered over it. Beef dumplings were flabby, with dry stuffing inside that was just about ok if you dunked them into the chilli oil. This is Asian food made by people who obviously like the stuff but lack the skill or heritage (did not see anyone there cooking or serving that resembled anyone from that part of the world) to pull it off. In fact I'd go further and say that it was an insult to all the cuisines that they're trying to serve here. I don't like seeing people lay into places so hard in revews, but this place served stuff that was so bad on so many levels, that I'm tempted to just call it like it is, and say that it shouldn't exist.

We arrived with two hungry teenagers and the place was full but they were very accommodating and gave us crispy snacks while we waited. Delish, rich broth for the beef noodle soup with depth of flavour and tasty noodle salad. No feeling of being rushed and jovial waiting staff. Would return.

Mama Lan is just genius, the food is fantastic and so cheap as well. The Clapham one has a slightly more extensive menu but the Brixton one has such a fantastic vibe being the original Mama Lan. All the dumplings are amazing, would say to order 2-3 dishes per person if sharing the food, the noodles looked great too.Would highly recommend the Woodear Mushroom, Spinach and Vermicelli dumplings, Honey Glazed Chicken and the Glass Noodle Salad.

Siamo state qui in tre per una piacevole serata tra amiche. Il cibo era ottimo (attenti al piccante se non lo reggete) ma il servizio (due cameriere italiane) veramente scortese. Consigliato ma non vi aspettate gentilezza!

Stopped for lunch at this spot in Brixton Village market, a small restaurant with tables outside on the market itself. Delicious dumplings, salads and wings - my favourite were the delicious vegan mushroom dumplings, although the prawn option was a close second! Fab food and great value for money.

I spotted this restaurant whilst strolling through Brixton Village, I have heard mixed reviews so gave it a try. I was very disappointed. I had the Spicy Beef Soup It was very tasteless and bland as well as being overpriced. There are lots of other places in London to get cheaper tastier food. The staff were pleasant but the service was very slow despite the restaurant being tiny.

This is an interesting , small restaurant with some 6 seating places inside and 10 or so inside . The cuisine is Beijing street food style with dumplings and noodles predominating containing pork , prawns or chicken . Vegetables are fresh and the soup is very good . Tsing Tao beer is served along with interesting teas . I recommend for filling up before a visit to the nearby Ritzy Cinema.

Went to the Brixton branch on a friend's recommendation. Food was all a big cold and crap: noodle soup was bland with no depth of flavour and dumplings were stodgy and a little bit slimey. in fact, on breaking open the pork dumpling, a ball of pale meat dropped out- very unappetising. Staff seemed pretty uninterested and took a long time to take our order (he 'forgot' to come back). Both myself and my boyfriend had upset stomachs afterwards too. Not a good dinner date.

I went to this delightful restaurant with my partner and were the first guests that afternoon. Our waiter was warm, funny and intuitive, the food was excellent value for money and very delicious and the cosy, intimate tables were great for food and conversation.

A concise menu, but one difficult to choose from as everything is so great. The food tastes authentic, the service is great and if I had to recommend one thing, I'd definitely go for the spicy beef noodle soup. Super tasty!

Dinner with friends. Service was quick, friendly and attentive without being imposing. The food came out pretty fast, and was really tasty. I thought the prices were very reasonable.

Try the prawn and watercress dumplings! They won't disappoint! Nice fresh and clean Asian meals for an average of £10 a head. Would recommend sharing a few of the smaller meals :)

Have been regulars at this venue every time I visit London with a friend. we always go for the unlimited Dim Sum, and it is always high quality food at an outrageously good price especially for London! Would never hesitate for a second to recommend this place for anyone into their Chinese. I keep my chopstick technique good purely for this place! Staff are wonderfully friendly and remember us every visit. Most recent visit was for my friends birthday (his 31st) and once again they went above and beyond to try and make it memorableaand and special for us. If you're going anywhere else in London for dim sum, you're doing it wrong!!

Good food However, the service was not very good. The attendant who seemed to be the owner of the restaurant was not happy when I only asked for one dish to share between two people and so he charged me the service fee which was optional.

This listing needs to be changed to reflect that this restaurant is not Mrs Wong's. It went under new ownership and changed its name to 'Cozy Woods' many years ago. All the more recent and largely negative reviews reflect this new restaurant, not the Streatham institution that was Mrs Wong's, and frankly they are a stain on the good name of what was once an incredibly beloved community favourite. Cozy Woods, stop trying to capitalise on the reputation and goodwill built up by the real Mrs Wong's over many decades. Much love to the original owners and staff.
