Been in Mama Clucks a few times before and been overwhelmed at the quality of their food and their rum cocktails. That’s where the good news stops. It has been taken over and there is no alcohol served any more so that was disappointing. But not as much as the food and the service. My friend had the chicken curry which was bland and contained carrots and potato and a few measly pieces of chicken, full of bones which had clearly been microwaved instead of been freshly prepared. When she questioned this they called from the kitchen to say more was on its way! So why not serve more to start with? They also had no vegetarian option for me, as advertised on the board. Now run by a couple of disinterested staff who didn’t even offer extras like gravy or mayo until asked for it. Also the already small place is now full of what looks like office furniture! Grey cabinets replace seating areas and there are 4 filing cupboards along the back wall which is bizarre! . Very disappointing. It can hardly be called authentic Jamaican/Caribbean food any more and I mourn the loss of what was a great little eaterie in Wakefield. Needless to say, will not be going again 😢

We have eaten in the cafe several times and it’s always been a great experience tried several things off them menu all good with excellent service . Tonight : my daughter had the jerk chicken rice peas and she said it was really good . We both had the plantain it was nice and she said the gravy was good . I had my fav the mutton well for the money it was absolutely shameful I ended up with a very small plate of bones . Absolutely disappointed and I won’t return now no meat at all and I am not exaggerating plus the bone portion was pathetic. When I have dined in I have had a plateful of tasty meat that I would struggle to finish never again . Not a great experience at all tonight and I don’t have a huge appetite and I am not greedy . The owners of this establishment must be cutting down or todays lamb del didn’t happen ( if that’s the case then say sold out ) . Won’t return and I feel bad because every visit prior to this take outs been a good one .

Eaten here previously and it was lovely. Tonight it was the worst food I have ever eaten. You should be ashamed to sell this ‘Jamaican’ food. The gravy was curry sauce. The dumplings were bland and crumbled in my hands. No seasoning to the food at all. Plantain undercooked. Mac and cheese was boiled pasta with grated cheese on top and microwaved. The ‘jerk chicken’ wrap was disgusting, it wasn’t even jerk chicken. An absolute disgrace to sell this to people. It all went in the bin. Complete waste of money. I complained and wasn’t even offered a refund. Definitely gone downhill.

Jerk chicken burger with a side of chips, the most beautiful dumplings and Caribbean gravy. Outstanding!!! I couldn’t recommend this place enough. I dropped in just in passing, and my gosh this has really made my week. Thank you.

Met my Wife in Town after work yesterday and called in for tea (dinner). She had the Mutton curry with rice & peas, I had the Jerk chicken fillet burger, washed down with a couple of stubbies of Red Stripe. Food was delicious. A lovely couple run the restaurant, attentive, service was first class. Only small inside, quirky decor, reggae playing in the background, a great vibe. Immaculately clean as well. Great value. We'll definitely return to try some more dishes off the menu.

I would say this is more of a cafe than a resturant. But what it lacks in size it makes up for in quality food. My wife and I both had curry mutton. It was fantastic. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.

The place itself is small really bright and cheerful. It’s spotless which is really important to me . The service was lovely welcoming and friendly . Visited today, didn't expect to find a Caribbean restaurant in Wakefield. The food was beautiful, the staff was friendly. My family liked the way we were made to feel at home. Definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys originally cooked food

Have not been here for a while so decided to give it a try. Neither of us was impressed with our meals. Chips were very very greasy. Fish undercooked & watery Place was busy but mostly with drinkers Definitely gone downhill since last visit

A lovely location to eat in. After (or even before) your visit to YSP you can eat some tasty food here and enjoy some sweet treats afterwards. We visited on a Saturday afternoon and it was still possible to eat without a reservation which was lucky. Gluten free options are a little complicated - you are given a separate print out with a chart to try and work out what you can eat or not, and asking the staff, as friendly as they were, wasn't much help either as they didn't know what some of the items were on the menu unfortunately.

I have visited here twice. Once a few years back and more recently with my elderly mother. The food is very reasonably priced and good quality. The restaurant has a much more relaxed feel to it on my most recent visit and the wait staff were much more friendly. The food was amazing and had a very varied menu which it did not before. My mother is a frequent visitor with her friends but I will definitely be returning more with her
