First time here, ordered food and although there was a bit of a wait the Chicken New Yorker was the best I ever had , my husband had rump steak cooked to perfection, prices are very reasonable. Will deffo be back and will recommend.

5/5 We stopped in Bridgwater on our way home from my 2 yr cancer review. All clear! Anyway, I use Green King Pubs a lot as I get 15% discount with a blue light card. Thank you Green King. Very much appreciated ✅ We had our usual meal. My partner being Gluten intolerant had Halloumi Salad. Myself a vegetarian Halloumi Kebab. 1. Staff in the pub excellent. Very friendly. 2. My Guinness pour to perfection. Might have been the extra time to punch in my blue light code but nice to see part 1 settle before part 2 pour. ✅ 3. Food cooked especially well, crispy chips, crispy onion rings and delicious salad with plenty of bits and pieces. Tomatoes, peppers and onion as well as the green. We really enjoyed our visit. Thanks for looking after us.

Just popped in as the kids needed a toilet stop. The staff were very friendly. We all had a had a quick drink, and used the greene king app to order these. Again the staff were very professional and quick.when we are down in this part again will always pop in. We'll done the staff.

My friend was carrying out a tray of drinks worth quite a bit of money, however because the garden isn’t checked regularly she tripped over and spilled all of her drinks, when trying to explain this to the staff, the staff didn’t show any concerns or remorse for her and proceeded to say she had to pay for a new round of drinks which i think is appalling considering the staff did not want to hear her out when it wasn’t even about getting free drinks it’s due to the health and safety of people who attend

Very friendly pub and the food was wonderquick and friendly service will not hesitate to go back. The best green king we've been to this week

Greene King pub, very good value for money, 2 main meals for price of one. Staff very friendly. Dogs are allowed. Only downside was car park was small. Would go back again.

Parking is absolutely atrocious. Was not made aware the small car park would be even smaller upon booking a table. Works on Car Park. Homely pub nothing fancy, dogs welcome. Car Charging Point. Nothing to write home about.

Warmly welcomed on entry by lovely lady behind the bar. Ordered food which was lovely (a huge change as my husbands food is normally poor, wherever we go!). Service excellent, cannot fault

I went with my friends for a Christmas Dinner today . The meal was tasteless burnt pig in blanket, frozen roast tomatoes looked eneamic, no carrots , the meat didn't taste like turkey . The best think about the Dinner was the Christmas pudding and custard . God help them that are going on Christmas day . Won't be coming back it's gone down hill .

Staying in nearby Cannington on a Sunday night with limited options for eating found the Malt Shovel after an aborted visit to the nearby Quantock (also a Greene King inn) where we could not get a table and were met with almost total disinterest by the person on reception. What a difference at the Malt Shovel. Pleasant, friendly and helpful staff, a very reasonable meal at a very low price along with well kept beer and wine also at a very attractive price. No hesitation in recommending this pub

What a lovely find. Great friendly place. Food was delicious .we had the seniors options. All day English breakfast and Gammon & eggs chips. Good portions served. Staff so friendly and helpful too. Me and my wife visit this pub quite regularly for a couple of drinks and a bite to eat. The staff are always friendly and helpful. The beer is always good and the food is great. It’s a great place to watch sports too.

Thought we would give the maltshovel a shot for Sunday dinner but wish we hadn’t the food was all frozen and barely warm and we had to wait 45 mins for the food it’s was just disgusting the potato’s weren’t even cooked inside won’t be returning

Never visited this establishment before, lovely beer garden for hot sunny days. We all had delicious hot lunches on hot plates, which is unusual. Each of us said how much we enjoyed our lunches. We will be visiting this pub again. Thank you.

Just got back from a long lazy lunch at this excellent tradional pub just outside the town centre. Excellent service from the staff, our main server was Chelsey. Being part of the Greene King chain they offer 20% discount on the Defence Discount/Blue Light cards on food. As regards the food it is already very good value for money. Being diabetic I avoid all potatoes, rice, pasta etc so was delighted to find a dish that consisted of 1 kg of chicken wings with no extras except piri piri sauce. They were delicious and ridiculously good value for money. My wife chose the fish and chips and it beat most local takeaway chippies at two thirds of the price. When my companions ordered the yummy looking sweets I ordered the grilled Halloumi at less than half the price of other local establishments. On other points the pub has just about the best beer garden in town and the toilets are clean. I highly recommend this venue for those looking for a true value for money and congenial experience.

As a local couple we love this pub. Now we have finally been able to see family we introduced them to this place and they couldn’t have loved it more. Everything we had told them about this place was once again spot on. Amazing staff, amazing food and the service could not be better. We love that a community pub serves the community exactly as it should. Good prices, a happy welcome and yummy food. What more could you want.
