Maltby Street Market in Southwark

This is a charming little find for foodies! A tasty mixture of food and pastry stalls from all over the world. It's never been as important as now to support independents! Great atmosphere - even has a few cosy little bars/pubs on the street to relax in too. Located a short 10 minute walk from London Bridge station - it's easy to get to. Highly recommend 👌

Surprised, not what I expected.

Small street market with some nice options! If you are free or happen to be in the area it’s worth popping in. I wouldn’t travel far just for this though! We had the moon cheese toastie and it was delicious

Small but varied food market. Cheese, bakery, fruit & veg etc alongside an assortment of street food vendors and pubs/ wine bars. Best thing is that there is plenty of tables with seating and it’s nowhere near as over-run with tourists as Borough Market.

Little lovely weekend street market. We had the Ethiopian food stall and tasted spicy and amazing. We also had the crispy dumpling that is yummy and moist in the inside. The burger with bacon also great.

One of new favourite hang-out! Lots of great food stalls and pubs/bars that let you take your food inside! No where near as busy as borough market, but not as wide of a selection. Can reccomend the Cuban sanwiches and Malt craft beer pub.

Cute street in a residential area with a few food stalls. The most notable food stall is the Madagascarian inspired one where we tried the pumpkin roti, highly recommended. We also tried dome cronut things which were good. Some of the shops offer seating to eat your food and there are free searing area by the entrance. I prefer this market for a quick lunch in the area, it’s only a short walk from Borough market and no tourists.

Visited this food market on a Sunday noon. It's a small lane that is lively and has vendors serving food of different cuisines. Has flags of various countries hanging above.

Very cute little lane and nice to visit with friends! Feels very multicultural, would be great if there’s more variety of food ;)

Good selection of food options and many items are clearly cooled fresh. What it has over other street markets is a few wine bar and pub areas under the arches where you can enjoy a drink alongside your stall-bought food, which is a massive pro.

Try out the mooncheese toasties! Crispy, cheesy, and absolutely delicious. If you love a good toastie, this one will not disappoint.

Had a sit down at the Italian restaurant, wonderful service great food. The rest of the market was amazing. Good range of food good atmosphere and a stones throw from the bermondsey beer mile.

Small local food market, about 10 stalls. Everything looked very tasty and what we tasted was wonderful. Most of the things can be seen in other parts of the city so it's probably not worth coming especially

Very underrated street market! Made up of road side stalls and restaurants, it is just one strip down the street. However, that didn’t stop it from being any less enjoyable than any other market! With lots of cuisines, we chose the chicken biryani from Biryani Bar and it is easily one of the best biryanis we have ever had.

Short street with lots of food stall options. A vibrant atmosphere with lots of colours and delicious food smells. Worth a drop by if you are in the area.

I can only describe this place as excellent. Chips were amazing, steak to die for and bearnaise sauce out of this world. I wish i live closer.

Stumbled on this place, wish I had found it sooner as there is every type of street food but not as expensive as Borough Market and a much better atmosphere as its a bit more relaxed. Nice quirky bars in the arches off the market, we loved Pullet who make a great espresso martini.

What a great place - lots of food options (can vouch for dumplings and Poulet, but would have tried everything!). Little bars were wonderful, service 10 out of 10).

Really great selection of wine bars and street food. Wine selections are excellent. Street food options are fun, but a bit naughty/greasy. I went Eithopian for food. Result. Love the freedom of picking a bar, then roaming along the street to find your food. Wish London had more streets like this.

Not really a market and barely a street. Not what I was expecting, mostly street food, which did look interesting but we had eaten a large breakfast so not looking for food.

I can’t believe I’ve never had the pleasure of visiting Maltby Street Market before! I’d live here if I could. We tucked into some deliciously warming pho and some fragrant and fishy crab bouillon. I love that you can bring outside food into the old timber store - the wine there is faaab and the lady telling us about the wine was even better.

There is a delicious bakery at the weekend market, and I recommend the almond croissants!

This mulled wine stall that appears to be part of Chez Rapha situated in front of the Cantoast at malty street market is a CON. The pictured man made me order a drink for sitting at the table outside which aren’t specified as part of this business within the old timber store, and then charged me £7.15 instead of £6.50 that was advertised in photo. When questioned, this man in the black puffer said extra 65p is tip/service fee. Then don’t advertise it as £6.50?? He didn’t even ask if I wanted to pay the extra cost and even tried to angle the scanning machine away from me. To make it worse, mulled wine tasted rubbish and I was sitting there drinking it for 5 mins max. Cantoast was good but this has marred my experience, they should make it obvious that we can’t use these tables in front of their stall. I wish I took my food away with me instead of sitting down so that I didn’t have to deal with this conman.

Good food not too many stalls. The steak and chips was quite good. And also the sausage with leak at the Greek stall.

Really nice small market with loads of wine/beer options also nice food. we got the steak & chips, you can take the food to all the wine bars so nice. Tiny criticism is it closes early (I think 6pm)

Excellent food market!!! I got my food from the Ethiopian food stand and then ate inside one of the bars along the market. Most of the bars allow you to bring in your own food which was great since the weather was cold and a bit drizzly. I'll definitely be back!

Definitely less touristy like what many said, and it’s close by to the Borough market too! Unfortunately we came filling full already, else I did already spot a couple of menu items which caught my stomach.. Like pulled pork, toasted cheese and some duck too! It is a small stretch though, with seatings within the market and also on the entrance of it 👍🏻

Malty Street Market is one of Bermondsey's gems, I love going there for a treat. Set in a small and cosy back alley, it offers tons of delicious and varied food every weekend. Go enjoy!

The street is small but every vendor had amazing food to choose from. There's also a ton of shops that will let you bring in food from the market - great when it rains.

One of my favourite markets in London. Way less touristic than the nearby Borough market, Maltby is charming and uniquely special. Plenty of food, several good restaurants, and bars where you can bring your food from outside.

I found Maltby Street Market was okay, but I wouldn't say I'm a big fan of it per se.

A brilliant alternative to borough market, a lot less stressful and busy. Most cuisines available, lots of gluten free options. Definitely recommend the duck truck.

Charming. Pricey. It has those London trendy vibes. The cakes looked super scrumptious. Oysters looked great. Graffiti too. It's a narrow little area and the shops along here are rather cute.

£4.80 for a reasonably good hot cross bun and doughnut. Felt like a doughnut paying that price. This was years ago so by now it must be a mortgage payment or more for a grain or badly made grub. So much for 1 a penny 2 a penny... 😅 Lots of beer brewers too for the salty sip lovers. Lots of excuses from the market saying this post isn't related to them, but it is, they are heavily overcharging.

The Beefsteaks are mad. Possibly the best steak you’ll ever eat, Chimichurri incredible, tasty chips. Spot on
