This is a massive improvement on our last visit. The roast was delicious! I have to congratulate the back kitchen on the beef. At these prices it is always going to be on a budget but it was cooked to perfection, and tender and juicy. Just a comment on the veg, pleae dont mix old and new, it looks awful. Staff utterly professional and friendly and nice that they were flexible and allowed us to have two children's Ice Creams! Truth is, having ate large roasts, we would not have spent on a pudding had they not taken a common sense approach - so we spent another fiver on ice cream then stayed for two more coffees each. This place is quietly doing what Toby is sometimes failing to do - I wish you well and look forward to dropping in again.

One of the best carvery’s around this place has really improved Liam was great and the carver Emma was so jolly really made our experience great

Went for a family lunch after laying our nans ashes. Found a table to seat the 7 of us. Decided to go for the starter selection 5 for £15. Thought great price for a few little picky bits rather than a full carvery. The others went for the 3 course for £13 deal, again amazing price! Wish we hadn’t of bothered tbh. Our ‘picky bits’ came. The garlic bread was completely burnt & had no cheese on although we had ordered with cheese. So sent that back. Then our chicken pieces, nachos, cheese fries & mushrooms came. How on earth pre cooked fried foods can be cooked wrong baffles me!! Some of the chicken/cheese fries/mushrooms were semi warm, others stone cold. The manager must of had the hot ones in her gob as she came over to the table with a mouth full of food (sick face). Obv sent these back, the manager looked at us confused when we complained as they were clearly edible to her. The replacement food came, i mean it was just as terrible. The nachos had been stuck in the microwave & were soggy (who on earth eats soggy dorritos please) The rest of the table were sat waiting for 2 pizzas & 2 burgers for 50 minutes. The place had 2 tables occupied with 2 elderly people on each one. So why such a long wait? Oh & then the pizzas came & were burnt!! I mean the deal breaker for me was the child making the pizzas licking sauce off his hand & then proceeding to touch the food. Oh and kept the lid of the pizza dough on the grimey floor (hand over face) This place used to be ok, i wouldnt let my dog eat there let alone a human. Needless to say we requested a refund on the whole bill for 7 people. NEVER AGAIN

Three meals ordered 2 turn up after 30 minutes no sign of the third meal ,staff disinterested didn't care and as for the manager he needs re training or demotion customers service shocking.

Absolute brilliant service from Josh at the bar from start to finish amazing indiviidual service with a smile i cannot express how attentive he was too us Credit to this company he went above and beyond i will defo be back just to see him smile

Robbing gits went In there last night and won 70 on the gamble which then wouldn't let me withdraw funds told the manager and his partner Josh! Who then told me they would contact the machines and to call back tomorrow so called back and they told me to come down and collect the money so when i got there they gave me 40 pound , telling me that's all I won even tho Josh member of staff took a photo of it on the machine before he shut it fully down, aslo while i was there the man who fixes the machines came over to me and showed me the card which stated 70 !! Begged me to give them a good review last night and i did before i got conned !! Then to have the bar staff who was having full conversation with us about it happening tries to deny it and say he was too busy with orders i doubt that very much there was hardly anyone in there disgusting all seem lovely and friendly at start buy you a few free shots and think you'll forget!!!

Awful 1st visit what breakfast was there was dried up ,no eggs no sausage fried bread was so hard . We asked for fresh food had to wait for kitchen to cook everything . Waited for 20 minutes only for the young man behind counter to throw dried up hard fried eggs into the dish followed by sausages been thrown into dish 10 mins after eggs . After using the Malt Shovel for years and sometimes having disappointing meals I've always gave them a second chance as I have also had many good meals. Last week I treated my Sister & Brother in law to a meal as a Birthday Treat but it definitely wasn't a Treat. We got our Drinks & paid for 3 Carverys at the Bar then proceeded to the Hot food Counter where the only Meat on offer was a small really fatty piece of Pork, I asked is the Turkey Gammon & Beef coming out but the rather fed up looking Chef said No not until 2.30pm this was at 1.20pm no Apology no explanation. We should have been told this when purchasing the Carvery tickets. I didnt want to make a fuss and upset my Sister whose Birthday it was, so we had a Plate of Veg & uneatable fatty Pork. I'm not sure I will be rushing back. I was charged for food that was no longer on offer at that time.

Lovely meal, we had the carvery which was all hot and fresh. My grandchildren had the baby bowls which they seemed to enjoy. The gentleman on the bar was pleasant and friendly.

Had a good breakfast, chicken wings were a strange addition but I must say I enjoyed them! Laura was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed, great service 👏

Went for lunch today at this local pub. My husband and myself tucked into a carvery which was really tasty. We were attended to by the a very charming young man Liam and the lovely Laura. Very pleasant and attentive staff, food good and all on our doorstep. A definite return will be soon.
