Malt House Farm in Chorley

I’m not one to write reviews but after our experience tonight I felt the need to. I booked a table for 4 and as soon as we entered the restaurant we was greeted by a manger who explained everything to us and took us over to our table. We sat on a booth( table 29) which was a lovely table and I felt very safe. Lauren then came over a introduce herself and straight away offered drinks. An amazing first impression of the restaurant. Our order was quickly taken and the food came out shortly after. Which may I add was delicious! With being 38 weeks pregnant Lauren went above and beyond to ensure everything was cooked to perfection for me. The service throughout the night was amazing, Lauren is a credit to your company and because of her amazing service we will definitely be back :)

We visited The Malthouse Farm on a beautiful sunny day and the location and views are simply stunning. There was a DJ playing some amazing tunes on the canal and the atmosphere was so relaxed. We were served by Alison who was by far and away one of the friendliest waitresses we have ever been served by in a restaurant. She could not do enough for us. My mother in law is elderly and struggles to walk so Alison ensured are table was changed to accommodate this. What a fabulous time we had enjoying amazing food (I had seabass) and drinks. We cannot recommend this restaurant enough and we cant wait to come back soon to celebrate myi birthday. Thank you The Malthouse Farm

So glad to be back at my favorite place. Once again we were not disappointed with the fantastic service and tasty food. Had a fantastic afternoon sat by the canal in the sunshine. If a great location along with amazing food and service is what your after, then here is definitely the place. Cant wait to return

Visited today with my girlfriend and dog, greeted by a very friendly face and served a delicious chicken and mushroom pie served by Debs.will definitely be returning.

Visited for a family meal and it was fantastic! Julie was our waitress and was amazing ! She looked after us all night and nothing was too much trouble. Food outstanding and felt safe throughout. Will be back !

Visited this Sunday for lunch and had the best Sunday Lunch Ive have ever had! Ordered the Roast Beef which was cooked perfectly along with a side of cauliflower cheese. Both and myself and the wife were in heaven. Fantastic atmosphere along with fantastic service by Debs. Finished off with sticky toffee pudding. I cannot recommend enough and will be definitely returning soon.

Very happy to discover my favourite restaurant has started serving breakfast. I had to try it as I go here often and happy to say I wasn't disappointed. I had the Eggs Royale which was absolutely beautiful and the hubby had a full English which he thoroughly enjoyed. Priced reasonably at £7.99 but you could order the buffet at a cheaper price of £4.99. Just what we needed after a stroll down the canal and can't wait to return at the weekend.

Called into the malthouse in Wednesday night for a bite to eat,food was as good as ever and the service was superb. Will deffo be returning

Still one of my firm favourites. We come here at least once a week as we love it so much. Service and food is always enjoyable and the staff even know what we like to drink now. Served this time by Ali who is so friendly and lovely. Ate the chicken in a basket which I have never tried before but loved it, followed by a delicious crime brûlée. Highly recommend this place. See you next week!

Warm, welcoming and festive. First impressions count and this is what greeted us as a party of nine. Wayne greeted us and was the perfect host all evening, attending to our needs and ensuring we had a pleasant evening. The food was excellent. Piping hot, beautifully presented and plentiful in portion. We chose the £21.99 3 course meal; lots to choose from and every course was delicious. We definitely would recommend this as great value for money and some tasty dishes on offer! Thank you to all the team at the Malt House for a most enjoyable and memorable evening. Would highly recommend.

I attended for my works christmas meal which was lovely. The food was really nice and the waiter/server Ben was very polite and helpful. He is an assit to your team. Ben was very friendly and ensured that everyone had drinks and was ready for the next courses as we had the festive 3 courses. Overall good evening.

Visited last night as a table of 9. From start to finish the service from our waiter Wayne and the rest of the staff was excellent, very attentive and always making sure we were okay. All 9 of us had the 3 course festive menu and everyone was full of compliments about how tasty the food was. Will definitely be back again and really recommend eating here!

We visit the Malthouse most months and always at Christmas for a friends catchup. Our waiter Ben was very attentive and knowledgeable. Great service!

Visited tonight for our work’s Christmas meal. The table was set up lovely for us & as soon as we were seated by the manageress, we were waited on for the rest of the evening by Ben, poor guy was run ragged for us for drinks etc but never once did he lose his smile or manners. He is a credit too you & couldn’t have been friendlier or more helpful! The food was fantastic & well presented as per. We all had the festive 3 course meal & there were clean plates all round. 10/10 yet again

I booked a Christmas lunch for my family online as I am based abroad. From start to finish the staff were absolutely amazing, food staggering and the interior was fantastic. The service we received from Julie was totally amazing she looked after us for over 2 hours making sure we had drinks and ready for our next course. Cannot recommend this place highly enough. Also thank you to Wayne who was so efficient.

Booked a table for my partner's birthday brought a few decorations for the staff to put up aswell as a cake, can I just say the staff did a fantastic job of setting the table for me I didnt have to do anything on the night so nice relaxing evening for me.Can i say a massive thank you to all the staff service was 10 out of 10 they also put a birthday card on the table a lovely little touch didnt have to ask for or do anything the food was amazing!! Will definitely recommend this place nice clean and happy staff on the bar and the floor the restaurant is right near the water so a nice little view out of the window thank you malthouse team we all had a great night!!

Absolutely excellent meal as usual. Took friends who haven't been before who thought the Malthouse was amazing! The food was excellent, the atmosphere with hundreds on fairylight very magical and the staff so friendly and attentive. 100% as usual. The Malthouse never let's us down! X

Really good service, food was delicious and the surroundings were beautiful. Very Christmassy with open log fires. Staff are really attentive and nothing was too much trouble as we had 2 people with dietary needs who were well catered for and reassured

Visited with a group of ten friends for our festive meal. As always, great food, great atmosphere and great staff. Booked again for Friday !

First time I’ve stayed here, it was very busy and for good reason. Dot on reception is professional and friendly, they’re were sweets on the counter which was a nice touch. The room was very clean and the mattress was firm and I slept really well. The breakfast is served next door in the pub, the staff was exceptional and the food was very good.

We went for lunch on a busy Friday and served by the lovely Debs who is just wonderful. We love going here on a regular basis as the staff are all so friendly and make our day. The Christmas lights are stunning and we cannot wait to go back again for our Xmas meal.

The service and the restaurant are very good but the food is really poor. I ordered Lasagne which seemed to be ok but after a few mouthfuls I discovered that it was hot around the edges and stone cold in the middle as if it had been reheated in a microwave from frozen and for the prices they charge was extremely disappointing. The staff were sorry about it and did not charge us. I didn't want a replacement so I just had a dessert which was not very good either. We have tried this place before and was disappointed but tried again but will not be going again

My first Christmas lunch of the year. Impressive lighting display met us on entry, followed by friendly staff.

My favourite local go to place for good quality food and always a very warm welcome from the fabulous staff, particularly Debbie and Ahmet. Highly recommend the fillet steak with Stilton and mushrooms. Delicious!! Can’t wait to go again on Sunday for the best roast beef dinner. Xmas decorations and lights give off a lovely Christmassy atmosphere. Well done to Sharon and her Malthouse Team.

A nice atmosphere and good food. They do specials at very good prices so check them out. Right next to Premier Inn Chorley North and just off M61. Was ideal for us to stay while visiting family. Watch the bill though, as they automatically add a small donation on the bill. We did not notice and paid this without knowing. You should have a clear choice if to pay.....not just add it anyway.

First visit for an evening meal. Very welcoming, nothing too much trouble. Our waiter Ahmet was excellent - very friendly, polite, helpful and attentive. Quality food, served hot and presented well. Restaurant was beautifully decorated for Christmas. Highly recommended. Booking again for next week.

Wonderful welcome with quick table reservation

Great food and service. Our waitress Julie was very attentive and made sure we had enough drinks and the food we were okay. She noticed without me having to say that the lamb shoulder didn't have much meat on it and took it straight back to the kitchen which I really appreciated. Couldn't ask for better service! First time visit to the restaurant tonight and it was the most lovely place. Our server was so lovely think he’s name was Ahmet. He couldn’t do enough for us, was very friendly, attentive and helpful. The atmosphere and decor was very relaxing and lovely with all the lights with it coming up to Christmas. The food was gorgeous the best I have had in a long time all fresh too. Will definitely be returning and will be recommending to all my friends and family x

Visited tonight to celebrate my daughter’s birthday she was really pleased with attention to detail. There was a happy birthday banner on the table a birthday card a badge and she was given a free glass of fizz. What a lovely start to a lovely meal Julie was our waitress and she was very attentive and looked after us through out the meal. Food was lovely as usual will definitely be back. We eat at the Malthouse Farm regularly, and are always looked after, especially by Ahmet and Sharon (the manager) who are always very accommodating. The main and festive menus have a good choice for everyone, including vegans.

Always a lovely atmosphere, staff could not be more attentive & the food is great at a very reasonable price.

I enjoyed Sunday lunch today whilst celebrating with family at Malthouse Farm. The food was delicious, served in good time and was piping hot. We received excellent customer service from Mariangela, nothing was too much trouble for her. I highly recommend this restaurant, particularly if you want to feel festive as it dressed to the Christmas nines inside. Beautiful.

Visited the Malthouse on Saturday for lunch and it was busy as usual (always a good sign), however service was great and surprisingly quick! My boyfriend has a severe nut allergy which makes eating out hard for us but we had such a warm welcome (I think from the manager) which is always lovely and makes me and most importantly him feel at ease when eating out as unfortunately a lot of establishments are not as welcoming to allergies, which can be understandable. There was such a good variety of menus available and dishes to choose from which made deciding really difficult as everything sounded so good and great that near enough everything was nut free too! The decor was also lovely and certainly got us in the Christmas spirit! I have visited the Malthouse a few times with living in the next village but I can definitely say this is the best time I have visited as their menu offering is so much better now. It is the first time my boyfriend has been but we will definitely be back! Thank you for your lovely service! :)

Eat here on a regular basis,all ways great service and good food. We usually have a roast dinner,which is great value and well cooked,but something is bizzare.

For the past 4 years I have invited my customer and all the staff to The Malthouse fo have a meal. There is always over 10 of us and this year didn’t fail at all!!! Debbie F was on top form and served us all evening. Drinks were flowing food was amazing, especially the Beef! Nothing at all is too much for all the staff. Would highly recommend (and ask for Debbie too look after you )

I'm staying in Chorley regularly for work recently and the Malthouse Farm is the highlight of my stays.

Regular visitor to the malthouse and as always Ahmets service was excellent. Sharon and the team always excel at customer service and the food is second to none. Highly recommended.

We were a party of 5 for a midweek evening meal and we were extremely pleased with everything. The environment was warm, welcoming and very Christmassy with fairy lights everywhere! We had a great lunch today. The staff had decorated our table and our waiter Ahmet made sure everything was perfect. The Malthouse is our go to restaurant for ladies who love to lunch.

Having been for breakfast previous, we decided to go for a family birthday meal (during half term) 3pm on Friday.

Absolutely outstanding. First time visiting and what fantastic service. The restaurant was immaculate, very clean. Ahmet our waiter was polite, always smiling and made sure our food was to our standards. Will certainly be visiting again. X

We went on Saturday night for my daughter's 14th birthday. 7 of them sat on their own table and my husband and I had our own table. I had not asked for anything birthday related but when we got there, there was a birthday banner, badge and card on the table.

Eating in a hotel when you are away from home on a Sunday night can be soul destroying but the quiet table (requested and found) and the superb customer service made it feel like I was really being cared for and I really appreciated this - thank you. Food was lovely, beautifully presented and piping hot. Highly recommend the Peppercorn and Stilton Mushroom starter - absolutely gorgeous.

We hadn't been here for an evening meal for a while and were pleasantly surprised by the standard of service and food. There is an excellent gluten free menu with plenty of choice which makes a big difference to my husband. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was very good. It was all helped by a large amount off the bill with discount voucher that I had received by email. So all in all top marks, thanks for a lovely evening and we wont leave it so long this time before we return.

Visited this pub yesterday for a drink whilst on a dog walk. Located by the canal so lovely in summer. We sat outside yesterday and there is plenty of room to sit outside. Eaten there before and the food is lovely. Would recommend

Called in for Sunday Tea the restaurant was very busy lucky to get a table The staff very friendly and helpful the choice of Menu good nothing to exciting but plenty of choice. The food service was quick the food average as was the presentation but from the volume of people dining a very popular place. Easy to find and plenty of parking.

Really good food and choice, fantastic service from Claire as our main server. Really cozy pub in a gorgeous setting. Been twice in two weeks!

Though it’s next to a Premier Inn, this isn’t a brewers fare or a standard Premier Inn hostelry but a pub that always has good food and it’s always busy with locals so always a good sign.

Booked a table for four at Malt House Farm for midday on Sunday. We've been before. Greeted with smiles, Good menu choices, well presented food and drinks and attentive, yet friendly service from Julie who really went the extra mile to ensure that all of our needs were addressed. Altogether a really positive experience. Well worth a visit, and the waterside location is picturesque.

Delicious burger and chicken burger... fresh salad and lovely chips and barbecue sauce. Lots of parking space and outdoor seating. Will definitely go back.

Love a lazy Sunday and even better if you can find somewhere nice for lunch, staying in the area with work and I was recommended this place by my boss. Nice atmosphere, lovely location and good food. I will no doubt visit again.

Been here a couple of times and hands down now my favourite pub, the steak was fantastic and I love the chips here. The second time I came more recently I had the lasagna and that was delicious! I love the atmosphere and small touches like the candles on the tables and fairy lights, makes it feel nice and cosy. The staff were lovely and offered my guide dog a bowl of water which I like.

Another lovely visit to this pub. Food was great and staff friendly and welcoming especially Debra. It was as usual very busy and we hadn't booked however we were found a table and the wait wasn't too long. will be visiting again soon

Stayed at Premier Inn so tried the full English breakfast which was delicious. Food cooked to your liking with excellent range of continental breakfast options also. Staff very helpful, breakfast just great. Will be back again 😀

This used to be for our family to get together, after time and time, we got poor service, and even the special board costing over £20plus was still a disappointment.This place now needs a new chef, and a new retraing of the staff. We happy to pay for the price over the over the menu , , //////wont be visiting soon.

I cannot fully express the quality of the customer service in particular. The food is well priced at all times and is always perfectly cooked. The atmosphere is always warm and friendly. A fantastic place to go with family and friends.

Once again I find myself at this lovely restaurant and once again I cannot fault it. Always greeted with a smile and always have fantastic food. This time we were served by the lovely Julie who looked after us perfectly. I dined off the specials menu and can highly recommend the egg and aspargus. I love this place, only downfall is its hard to get a table if you forget to book as its so busy even midweek. I guess that shows how popular they are. Will be back again soon.

Fantastic food and service. Reasonably priced for Sunday lunch, best I have found close to Preston so far. Sharon was lovely and clearly enjoys speaking to people, she let us know what specials were particularly nice :)

Stopped off here for lunch whilst cruising the canal. Staff were very accommodating and friendly, service was good and good was delicious.

It was a business trip and I thought at first oh no another chain pub and same grub. But Rowan the waiter brill. The food great, flavoursome and filling.

Visited for a birthday meal and the place was very busy (as always) - even on a Wednesday! The waiter was very friendly and pleasant but it was so busy he really could have done with more staff to serve guests. Nice food as usual

I vist here regularly Ahmet always looks after me my friends and family . He always tries to seat us in my favourite location. I have some weird medical issues and no matter what I want the chef seems to be able to adapt my dishes and they still taste great. I love the wide range of food and the variety of sunday roast is like no other restaurant plenty quality food and no soggy veg in sight. Thanks again for another enjoyable visit where I can guarantee the quality food and quality service. Thanks Ahmet.

I was staying at the hotel across from the Malthouse Farm and I was absolutely delighted with the level of service and the quality of food at this lovely establishment. I was seated and looked after by a lovely young waitress named Paige who made my visit extremely pleasant. I will be returning here every time I visit Chorley as it was all in all 10/10 visit.

The customer service was appalling. We arrived as a party of six for breakfast. We waited some time to be seated. When an employee (paige) finally arrived to seat us we were told we couldn't have a table as they were only serving hotel residents . My husband explained that we had called in advance to check (the day before) and the employee (paige) continued to be extremely rude and dismissive. I requested to talk to the manager (claire) who recalled the phone call the day before, apologised and seated us. By this time there was very little food available , so only three adults in the party ate....and not even a full breakfast at that! I went to pay for what amounted to possibly two meals in total and explained to the manager (claire) that I was disappointed that the employee (paige) that had been extremely rude had not apologised for her appalling customer service.

Came here last Thursday at about 6pm. The restaurant was busy but most were sitting with drinks outside since the weather was good. We spent 10 minutes stood waiting in a queue for a table for two, and were not acknowledged by a single member of staff (of which there were very few) during this time. Having seen enough red flags during that 10 minutes, such as customers trying and failing to get the attention of staff and incorrect orders being sent back, we decided to leave. We thought we'd give the place another go, as our last visit on a busy summer day last year had been disgracefully disappointing. Seems this place can't cope when the sun comes out!

Good service and good food. Not exceptional food but satisfactory. Good choice for Sunday lunch and some Summer specials too. This place is tastefully decorated and has a traditional pub feel to it! Would visit again and maybe try some of the midweek special deals. Shout out to girl serving behind the bar who is extremely friendly and welcoming!!!

My son doesnt like to eat out in the evening but loves a big breakfast. So i called the malthouse farm to see if we could do breakfast there. I was told this was ok and to turn up the following day. We arrive the next day to be told we couldnt eat there by a poor member of staff. I would have left then except my wife insisted on seeing the manager. Turns out it was her we spoke to!!!!!!!

Great food every time. Relaxed atmosphere, great table service and the staff are very friendly. A bit more expensive than your usual pub for food but the quality of the food and the service is much higher than you’d expect from a pub grub style place.

Went with a friend using a Tesco reward vouchers. The restaurant was busy despite being a Tuesday early evening. I’d checked the menu online. Arrived to find that the menu didn’t reflect at all what the restaurant offered. The food was expensive for what was received, quite a small portion on the lasagne. The bacon on my friends hunter chicken was dry and brittle. They attempted to charge me £3.95 to change the fries into sweet potato fries, when it should just be £1 to upgrade. I’ve complained to Green King about the menu, why not change your menu online to reflect what you actually offer??? False advertising in my view. I can see why they do it as they are very busy because of the location. However I just received an email to say sorry that’s what they do. Every time I’ve been here before I’ve been pleased before, but not this time!!!!

super place to eat and drink at side of canal, i had a salad and my wife beef sunday roast, both good and well presented, staff attentive and well looked after, was busy when we went in which is always a good sign. outside however they seem to have a wasp problem not good when wasps are flying round your lager on a nice day.

Me and my partner decided last minute to go out for some tea out and treat ourselves to the Malthouse farm, it was very busy and we hadn’t booked so we didn’t expect to get a table, but we did! And within about 10 minutes which was great. The food was absolutely excellent, the best meal out in a long long time! I had a rump steak which had absolutely zero fat on it, and my boyfriend had the special salted beef burger and many sides. The food wasn’t absolutely spot on! We were served by our waiter Ben, he was very attentive and always kept our drinks full! He was lovely and made our experience very pleasant. We will more than definitely be returning and will be recommending!

We were staying on the canal, and went in the place was packed, I spoke to Wayne and asked if they did take outs, as long as you return our plates was the answer.

Have been going here for years and the atmosphere has remained the same busy with great service . However,the menu has reduced little by little until now the choice is quite restricted.

We called in for tea as a family member had told us about it. We arrived to be greeted by a rude young chap who told us no tables where free.now we could see that there was a few tables free . And had no reserve on. But no he just became very abusive . And witnessed by a few other people . Wont return to this place . This guy defo needs to learn to speak nicer to people or get sent on a course to learn some manners .

Trying to find a meal on Tuesday evening at 8.15 is not easy as most places close at 8.30-9.00 in this area but Malthouse is open till 11 o clock which made my decision to dine here easy.

We stayed at the Premier Inn next door, and booked breakfast for two days.

Found this place after searching for a new Sunday lunch location.

Amazing food amazing service amazing service served by claire all round 5* we will be definitely be returning
