Been here a few times. Generally very good fish and chips. The mixed kebab is also substantial and tasty.

We were driving pass and we wanted a fish and chips so we stop and bought 2 fish and chips the fish was so good and love the chips we not long got back from Cornwall and and it was just like being back there will be driving back there soon for my fish and chips again

Stumbled across this chip shop and it’s honestly one of the best chip shops I’ve visited in years! The chips were perfectly cooked and the fish was brilliant too. I will be returning to this excellent establishment with family and friends for the foreseeable future. Keep up the good work and positive attitudes!

Usually a great chip shop. I bought a family meal last night with 2 LARGE cod. What I got was fish dust in batter. No response from the shop. Wouldn’t take my calls. Won’t be using again. COVID-19 or no COVID-19 the cost is the same so I expect the same quality.

Absolutely love Malt and Salt. Perfect local chippy me and my partner love the food so tasty, not greasy, and great value. Always sparkling clean team are always friendly. Malt and Salt have started making traditional Indian curry which has been a big hit with my house hold and the kids! Which is amazing as there very fussy ! Couldn’t recommend enough !! 10/10

Great fish and chip shop. Try the halloumi battered in a outta with salad. It’s not on the menu but it is life changing! Always cooked to order and if you Facebook message them they’ll do a preorder for you.

I am afraid that I disagree with some of the reviews, perhaps I like my fish and chips cooked differently from others. If you like a good sized fish in a crispy, batter, which is definitely not greasy and you like crisp chips, again not greasy, then this is the place for you. I am a Herefordian and have only recently discovered this Fish & Chips place. For me, it s the best in or near Hereford!

Just got home and having gnawed my way through a portion of fish and chips with quite possibly the driest chips I've ever had in my life, there was one positive they most definitely weren't greasy however had we not had we not ordered a curry sauce I don't think we'd of managed more than a handful. The fish was ok by no means special my wife had cod bites that were very thin and to be honest not very good. The people that own it are polite and the premises clean its just the food we had tonight was distinctly average. I don't come on TripAdvisor just to write bad reviews but on this occasion I thought it just.

Purchased some take-away meals from here recently in the early evening. The staff were very friendly, helpful and polite. Most of the meals were ok but the chips were truly awful, shrivelled up and dry. Possibly they were left over from lunchtime and re-heated. Clearly, something was wrong. We could not eat them.

Had a night in on my own and thought I'd save myself from cooking. Visited this place as it was not far from home. Wish I hadn't bothered. There was only 1 person in front of me yet I still had a 20 minute wait just for sausage,chips and curry sauce. Smelled amazing. However when I got home I was very disappointed with the chips. They had a strange flavour, almost like they'd been hanging around for quite some time, and were surrounded by what seemed to be batter. Good thing I'm not gluten intolerant! Sausages and curry were both ok but I won't be going again . Almost £3 For a large chips! Very expensive! Disappointing

We visit nearby Westhide on occasions and were so glad to see that our first fish and chip supper did not require a journey into Hereford but a mile car drive down to Malt & Salt. Did not have to wait long, portions very generous and quality very good. Fresh cod with chips were very very good. Coming from the north the only downside for us was the lack of gravy for the chips and sausage. But you can’t have everything. Would recommend.

Food was lovely. Didn’t have to wait around for food either. Highly recommend malt and salt to everyone!! Staff are very welcoming and polite ☺️

Great food always fresh and delicious, we have just had the pizza which was excellent, lovely dough and great ingredients, the battered chips are fantastic.

4 months on and the quality has slid alarmingly. The last 3 fish and chip dinners have been disappointing in the extreme. The chips are cold and old. Perhaps a village chip shop doesn't have the turnover to guarantee freshly cooked chips all the time but the last 3 visits have yielded chips that were a long time sitting in the warmer, making them luke warm and hard with most of them ending up in the bin, as this has now become the norm, and we won't be returning for any more old, cold chips.

Nice and clean, and the food is good. However, the service is sometimes so slow! Most things are only available to order, which is good in the way that the food is fresh, but no good if you haven't the time to wait about. Would have given 5 * otherwise...

chips could of been better also the waiting for food is sometimes over an 1hour and half but it is not all bad their chicken meat and chips are nice and we will not be retuning

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing well and they do this very well. The establishment is clean, the staff friendly and the chips are the best for miles around. All in all a perfect take-away fish and chips. Plenty of choice for veggies too.

Recently opened, very good quality food, piping hot and very generous portions. Extensive menu, well worth a visit, we will certainly be back.

This takeaway opened recently and serves good quality, generous portions of fish & chips (and usual associated alternatives - sausages etc). It is friendly, clean, reasonably priced and worth a visit. I sense they are still ‘finding their feet’ with respect to service and processes, as it is a lot slower than other F&C; takeaways - but everything is fresh and well cooked.
