A perfect place... and you can see how the cells were downstairs. Ask the receptionist, she'll guide you nicely!

Superb place but the service is a little spartan due to the format of the cells and the absence of air conditioning or opening windows. Book a couple room + a child and be asked if the child needs a bed (+£30). Disappointing despite efforts

Preposterous charges. We have been asked to pay 15 pounds for checking out at 12.00 . that is one hour after the check out at 11.00 am based on this particular hotel's policy. Very expensive hotel, not worthy of the high costs.

We stayed. here for 2 nights in July 2024. The hotel is modern and clean and we opted for one of the cell rooms on the top floor which was amazing. We ate in the grill on one night and the food and in particular the steaks were superb. The location is very central with a short walk to the railway station. One constructive comment for the owners: the room was incredibly hot and as there is no air con and you can't open the windows a fan (which we obtained from reception) should be standard in these rooms. Would have given 5 stars without the room heat issue.

Today, I went to this beautiful hotel with a friend, with a few of making bookings but first of all we wanted 2 cups of coffee. We went to the restaurant area where there was nobody. We went back up the stairs to the ground floor and asked where we can get a coffee, we were told by the receptionist to go back downstairs so that’s what we did, when they were still nobody, so we went back upstairs to reception and asked if we quite simply order 2 cups of coffee, Again we were told to go downstairs and find somebody in the restaurant. Which Pt black we refused. This is a four star hotel. So another member of the team went downstairs the restaurant who then came back up and said they’re on a break stand and wait for five minutes, I said is there no way anybody in this four star hotel could provide us with a cup of coffee, at which point we were told no. So we left and made our bookings elsewhere, shocking that this hotel could not provide us with a cup of coffee anywhere.

Great location, approx 10 minutes walk to train station. Very usual hotel being set in an old prison but a great job has been done converting it. My only issue with room is the hot water is extremely hot (there are warning signs on all the hot taps), the shower in our room was very difficult to move the dial on the shower (you could get extra hot but cold was very difficult to move into position, and I couldn't do. Thankfully my partner was able to move). The staff were very helpful and pleasant. Location was great being 5 minutes to lots of shops and sights. The Westgate shopping centre is 2 minutes away and has lots of shops and places to eat. Please be aware parking is expensive (always has been in Oxford) and the road system is being done up so lots of changes.

We was here for a wedding and they didn't deliver the bride and groom wasn't happy, the staff was great and nice but the management and who managed the wedding was awful, (FOOD) what the guests ate was nice but alot of people ended up really ill from it (diarrhea/sickness). The bride is allergic to garlic and they put garlic in the food so almost poisoned the bride they didn't listen to the request they had asked for it was very upsetting, I've stayed at the malmaison a couple of times from Scotland to Oxford and I've never been disappointed apart from this 1 time...I hope they can sort this issue out for the bride and groom because it was disappointing, upsetting and frustrating

Weekend of 20th April 2024. Enjoyed a great stay & actually spent a fair amount of time just chilling in the very calm ambience of the hotel. Stayed in a ‘cell’ which is actually 3 cells to accommodate a clean and comfortable bedroom / living area & separate bathroom. No complaints. Roomy enough. Food was very nice (evening meal & breakfast) with great service from all staff members we encountered.

This place is so unique and fun! We had a standard double room which was plenty spacious, comfortable and the facilities were faultless. We had a drink in the bar which again, no problems at all! We didn't have any food so can't comment on that. I would recommend this hotel just for the experience, the conversion from prison to hotel was really well done! Location wise, you couldn't be more central, it's a fantastic location.

Stayed here for Valentines Day/Night and what a treat it was!!!! Although the hotel is based in the centre of Oxford, it's really easy to get to. When you arrive and have your car parked for you, you know you're in for a good stay. The hotel staff were beyond professional, polite and helpful. The 2 floor suite was STUNNIIIIIIIIING. Room service in the evening arrived on time and the food was hot. The breakfast in the morning was to die for!!!! Everything from start to finish was absolute perfection!!!!! 👏🏾

What a fantastic experience, spending the night in one of the old cells (3 cells concerted to 1 room), the grounds the hotel stand on also has a fascinating history which you can explore by finding the many silver plaques located around the area. The staff were extremely helpful and always ready to answer any questions, or to point you in the right direction. The club cell room we stayed in was clean, comfortable and quirky, and the branding in the rooms was superb, from carpets to cushions. Just what you would want from a stay at malmaison Oxford prison!

My wife and I were excited to be staying at Malmaison in Oxford. We booked a 1 night stay in March 2024 and friends had also booked to stay. We arrived early and were told the room was ready and we could check in straight away, great start. Our room number was 130 on floor 5. We had a quick look around our prison cell rooms and the rest of the hotel and then went out to explore Oxford, before coming back to shower before our evening out. This is when we started noticing how many defects our room had. The bathroom was in need of maintenance and nothing worked well. The flush on the (chipped and repaired with silicone) toilet was faulty so you had to hold the buttons to get enough water to flush. The shower knobs were stiff so you had to force them to move. The shower head was covered in limescale and top covered in dust. The shower screen trim was hanging off so water leaked out. The sink was chipped, very cracked and scratched. The tap wobbled (needed tightening) and the plug wouldn’t lift so had to lift it with your finger nails to let the water drain. Then there were stains on the walls and black mould on the ceiling. In the bedroom above the window we noticed more black mould and how dirty the glass on the windows were (more black mould). I actually wrote the word DIRT with my finger on one of the small squares of glass. There were 2 large metal covers on the ceiling covering the air flow system, these were thick with dust. The furniture all needed a sand and repaint as it was chipped and scuffed. In the wardrobe the there was a shelf with a big square hole which was very unusual. There are no plug sockets next to the bed on either side, there are 2 USB sockets but all our chargers use USB C so we couldn’t plug anything in at the bedside. The things we liked about the hotel, in our room we enjoyed the lovely coffee/tea, comfortable bed and pillows and the dressing gowns. The public areas of the hotel are lovely including the bar. The staff were all very friendly. At check out we were asked if everything was ok with our stay to which we told them about the mould and broken fittings and said if we were staying another night we would’ve asked to move rooms. We were given a business card with the email address for the reception manager and told to contact her regarding our problems. It would be more proactive for the manager to talk to us straight away or to contact us, surely that would be better customer service. We paid £335.00 for 1 night in a prison cell room (room only, no breakfast) for what we thought would be a luxury night away but left feeling very disappointed & underwhelmed.
