Dewdrop in Oxford

Went on my own to watch the football. Really nice crowd and great atmosphere. The food was really good. Great sausage and mash and sticky toffee pudding. The staff were lovely too.

I’ve been using this pub for over 20 years and it just keeps getting better. The staff are friendly, quick and polite. Good real ale selection and the Timothy Taylor’s is normally excellent. I’d give it 6 stars if possible.

Had a great time here as part of a group meal last week. The steak and ale pie I had was delicious, and everyone else's food looked good too. The staff were very helpful and everything ran smoothly.

I am a solo female traveller staying locally, the staff are lovely, the atmosphere is friendly & welcoming. The flavours in the food were amazing & The selection of wines i havent managed to work my way through, so i will be back!

I stayed in the EasyHotel in Oxford for 2 nights in Jan 2025 and this was my 'local' in that time! Outstanding service, great selection of beer, good music, friendly atmosphere and (most importantly for me) great food! A very genuine 5 out of 5 pub experience.

No additional noise from music meant we could have a nice conversation without being distracted. Looking forward to six nations coverage

We can’t thank Jack & the team enough for a wonderful evening, superb service and best customer care of 43 of our friends at our Christmas meal last night. This is the third time we have had our Christmas meal at the Dew Drop with Jack & the team and we will definitely be back again. Thank you to the kitchen staff, front of house and Jack et al in management - they met every dietary need and were incredibly attentive for the whole evening. The food was tasty, well presented and catered for everyone. Thank you for a wonderful experience. We honestly hope you get recognition from management - what a super night. Thank you . Great selection of drinks, however, the food is a little overpriced, in my opinion. Otherwise, it has a nice cozy atmosphere and in a central location. Parking can be a challenge, just like any other place around here, and one has to find a spot in the nearest public parking lot.

It was a lovely way to spent Sunday lunch. Great food and super friendly staff. Our dog was made very welcome too.

They seem a little sloppy at present; not what I expected. The table was sticky to the touch (it had been wiped but not with a clean enough cloth), and one meal was burned (but placed face down to hide it) and needed to be returned to the kitchen. However no fuss was made by us, not an apology given by them. Come on Dewdrop you can do better. So, a few years later I return more regularly. It has certainly improved. A much more welcoming and flexible staff. The food and service have improved and it was much more friendly than before.

Callum makes the best coffee. Don't forget Tappy Tuesdays, the quiz on Monday, burger Wednesday, steak Thursdays and fizz Fridays. Yeah I come here every day...

Such a great food and lovely staff

Three nights running, three good visits. Even if the homepage doesn't say it they have real ale. Landlord & Proper Job as regulars plus a guest ale which at the time of my visit was Ghost Ship. (You can also get Doom Bar) Food is nice, staff even nicer. Looks small from the outside, but a lot larger inside.

The roast beef was amazing, nice pink beef, massive Yorkshire and loads of potatoes, veg and gravy. Left very full.

Excellent for a small gathering, great food and service. I would highly recommend.

Travelling on my own (well with the dog!) Finding somewhere this good on a Monday is almost unheard of! Food was good. Beer spot on and staff just amazing. Great teamwork.

The Dewdrop is my go-to spot whenever I’m in the area. It’s got everything you want in a good pub—friendly staff, chill atmosphere, and solid food. The outdoor space is great for a sunny day, and even when it’s busy, there’s usually enough room to snag a seat. The menu’s got all the pub classics, and they’re done right—nothing too fancy, just good, honest food. The drinks selection is decent, with a good mix of beers and wines, and there’s always something new to try. Plus, the staff are super friendly and make you feel right at home, which is always a plus. I’ve been there for trivia nights, casual drinks, and just about everything in between. It’s one of those places where you can pop in for a quick pint or settle in for a longer hang without any fuss. If you’re around, definitely give The Dewdrop a shot—it's got that nice, laid-back vibe that keeps you coming back.

Burger was excellent. Coffee was luke warm, and don't sit inside if you suffer from PTSD the way empty bottles are chucked with gusto from a distance into a bin....nearly had a heart attack twice!!!

My visit to Dewdrop was fantastic! The staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. The drinks were top-notch, with a great selection to choose from. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, perfect for a relaxed evening out. The chairs were especially comfortable, which made it easy to settle in and enjoy the time there. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and I’m looking forward to returning soon!

I was slightly disappointed with my meal; however, both my grandsons enjoyed theirs. The service was good and friendly. So overall ok.

Unless you carry your passports (which no one does), apparently Europeans cannot order alcohol here!! They did not serve us alcohol even after we showed our European national ID and driving licence. We were told they were not valid forms of ID. And then the waiter was incredibly rude by making us take the food ourselves, instead of bringing it to us. Ruined our night and never coming back - this is up-front discrimination and prejudice!!

Cozy place to drink, eat or watch cricket matches. The rooms are separated well enough that those who prefer to drink with friends are not distracted by others watching sports or enjoying outdoor areas. A good place to have a pint and enjoy Sunday roast.

Took a Sunday roast here yesterday and was extremely disappointed. After a not so warm welcome, my order arrived quite soon. So disappointing. It was luke warm, with undercooked hard parsnips and something in the green veg, very very dry roasted potatoes and a mustard which I just had to pile more and more on to try to get any heat and taste out of (unsuccessfully - tasted and looked like nasty, mass-produced, catering bulk buy refill product). The beef itself was okay. At least I had a good view of the match at my reserved table. For £18 I don't think I'll be returning.

On vacation, and I went back a second time because the burgers were excellent.

Hadn't been to the Dewdrop since 1990! It's bigger but hasn't changed much. Spacious, well-kept beer. An oasis of unpretentiousness in the heart of Summertown.

Place has gone down hill. At least one of F&B, Customer Service or overall ambience needs to be acceptable. Not the case here.

Went here yesterday for lunch, lovely quiet areas to sit and enjoy food and drinks. Food was so good, service was great and they serve a delicious pint of Guinness! Definitely recommend to anyone who's looking for good grub in the Summertown area

We're Americans temporarily living in Oxford and were looking for a great neighborhood restaurant for us and our kids and this is it! Great pub with a really great beer selection including real ales, lagers, pilsners, as well as more modern IPA's. We've been here about 5 times now and the food is always great! The staff is super friendly and the pub itself is very nice, has more modern styling, and has a great, relaxed vibe weekdays and weeknights. Can't say enough good things about these guys...looking forward to warmer weather to get on the patio and garden!

In need of a freshen up. Practically ignored for the 1st, 10 minutes by 3x members of staff whilst standing at a virtually empty bar. I can't comment on the food as I only had drinks.

Nice pub where you can spend an evening with friends eating and drinking. There is a nice atmosphere, very familiar and convivial, and they offer a nice selection of beers and typical British dishes. If you are nearby it is an excellent choice.

Lovely pint of Guinness, fish and chips nice and fresh, very tasty tartar sauce and mushy peas to die for ! Highly recommend!

We usually come on the weekend to get a drink or some food, super nice atmosphere, the staff is brilliant as well, very kind ! Highly recommend if you're around.

The dining staff were friendly and carning. The food was a cut above the rest. The bathrooms, were in excellent shape and the whole place was spotless. The management team were on top of their game and made the whole dining experince really enjoyable. I will pop in again when I'm in the neighborhood.

Ordered seafood pasta with shellfish. Not sure if the place is a chain or privately owned. Food was average. Received prawns and calamari tentacles, no other fish or shellfish. I think staff know it’s not a great dish as would not collect plate while I stayed to finish my wine. No clams, no muscles. Tomato based was clearly brought in and the calamari was frozen. I would have spoken to the manager but he looked over a few times but never came over. Nice atmosphere but very dark. Couldn’t read the menu without my phone torch. Nice place though.

Who I presume to be the bar manager was extremely rude. I didn't see a dark sign, in a obscure place in a dark place and he got rude that I didn't see it outside at night time. I have been there quite a few times and always smoked in the same area. I didn't realise there was a designated area. He could have been polite. He should go on a customer service course. I think he may have been ginger so maybe he had a complex? Who knows. The reference to his hair was so you know who it was. I understand he has no control over it. From my experience the red heads were bullied quite severely and bullying does generally affect a person who undergoes it. I don't mind what colour his hair is.

A poor Sunday Roast! I just had the Dew Drop's Sunday roast, the first thing to question was the lack of a beef option? On a lot of levels I understand why, but I don't think that was the reason, I think that this is just about the cost to effort ratio. Now here is the entire issue: it is the current trend to attempt to cook meat correctly. Not over-cooked, but reflecting more sophisticated food outlets. BUT, if your chef is rubbish, OR time and therefore cooking temperatures are a factor (and possibly not a good cut either) you end up with – in this case – near raw lamb. SO I REALLY DO NOT recommend The Dew Drop for a Sunday lunch! Pretty terrible sadly. The entire plate was a rush job and the pub was empty..? What a shame.

This is one of the only pubs in Summertown, and I think that may be a main reason people go. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is good. The food isn't great. I ordered a brownie (probably not the best choice for a pub) and it just wasn't great. I went here with some friends from my college, and many of them couldn't order drinks with their EU identification cards. Staff required passports which is alright, just most people don't think to bring their passport if they have other valid ID which can be frustrating. I think it's a fine spot for a pint, but I don't think I would recommend it

Always a nice place to take a visitor to lunch. If you need a bit of quiet time a table at the back is usually the best choice, further up if you want to be more gregarious.

Very good beer, excellent fish & chips! Definitely a typical English pub perfect for an evening with friends. N.B.: unlike in Italy, you order directly at the counter and then be served at the table.

Really nice food and the staff were friendly and helpful. Doesn't look like much from the outside because the building is so old and is one of the only places not massively developed over the years. Well worth a visit!
