Cutesy interior design - almost as if you’re sitting in a bubble 🫧 I had wanted to try this restaurant on the way to Cherwell Boathouse We had the crab linguine but it tasted average (and probably not entirely worth the £20 Nonetheless the service and atmosphere were fantastic

The waiter was efficient and pleasent. I order garlic and potato soup. It was very watery, green and no taste of potatoes. A shame. The floor where we set was dirty with many small pieces of glass around. Given the price we paid, not a satisfactory experienced. The respond from Roxan, the manager, was not satisfactory. Why do I need to come again to hopefully see tgat the pieces of glasses we're removed from the floor or thst the soup is more than green water? Why not providing a good experience to start with?

13 of us descended to celebrate the 21st birthday of my son’s girlfriend. We ranged in age from 16-53. All ages felt completely comfortable and catered for. The service was excellent and the cocktails were out of this world. Special thanks to waitress Anna who remembered exactly who had ordered what from drinks through multiple course and Jago who mixed every single cocktail perfectly. The spicy margs were another level amazing. The food was all delicious and priced fairly. We hugely outstayed our welcome enjoying a homemade cake at zero extra cost service-wise. We were last to leave by almost an hour after close but the staff remained cheerful and welcoming. Well done Gees. Good old fashioned service with a lovely menu.

Sadly, the burger was just awful. I'd ordered it rare but both the patty and the bun crumbled into dust while I tried to eat it. Soft shell crab was limp and soggy. Staff were OK but quite curt. I didn't say anything at the time because we were there with friends for a celebratory meal. Two stars overall for the lovely wine. Really disappointing experience overall.

The location was beautiful, staff were lovely and the menu looked great. Unfortunately the food just fell a bit short. I had the mushroom risotto which was e slightly to aldente, lacked flavour and seasoning. It was a shame parmesan wasn’t offered for any of the dishes. If you only ate with your eyes the gnocchi was not the greatest looking, although it did appear hand made and the flavour was good. Portions could have been slightly larger as compared to the risotto and steak it felt more like an entree size. I would recommend as a nice place for drinks, however not to sure about lunch.

Lovely location and set up and service was good. Went for the set lunch and there were 4 of us dining. Starters were great asparagus was delicious soup was good and cod a little tasteless but great crunch. Mains Steak was lovely Risotto great oncce there was some paramazan But the pizzette or whatever its called was probably the worst thing of its type i have ever had. No place for it on a main menu cheap tasteless tomato sauce sparce tinned ingredients and absolutely tasteless dough so thin it may as well have been a matzo biscuit. Drinks and sides (dont bother) are super expensive which I really would.not have cared about if everything was as you would expect. Decided to call it a day and not have dessert.

Disappointed. First impressions unwelcoming as although we know we are dining in a conservatory, the grubby curtain falling off its rail at the entrance was off putting. We were not greeted at the check in desk but left hanging around thee rather small bar area feeling we were inbtge way. Once seated, paper place settings gave an impression of a cheap and cheerful diner. Food average..desserts mostly good but starters and mains mostly average. Service poor. First drink order taken 30min after being seated. Second drink order when ordering dessert as this was the first time we could get the attention of the staff, but didn't arrive until almost finished eating. 3.5hrs for a 3 course meal....I wouldn't mind if we were being attended to. Orders taken by shouting across from one end of the table to the other, then saying she couldn't hear! Meals slapped down without checking who they were for, leaving us passing them around the table. Rhubarb dessert required a knife, or at least a fork to eat but only provided with a spoon and no chance of getting the attention of the staff. We would not return here.

This restaurant was overpriced as the food in terms of taste and presentation are not up to the standard of theat price paid. The Today’s fish £28.50, Pork Belly £25.35, burger £20.50. Atmosphere is too dark and too small for the two person round table. The issue matters us is the service is disappointing where we were stopped by a waitress when we were walking out of the restaurant, as she forgot to charge us an extra bottle of water in our bill we had paid at £121 and asked us to top up extra £5 ish with another bill printed out separately (we didn’t order any extra bottle of water at all).

I recently enjoyed a fantastic lunch at Gees Restaurant in Oxford, and it was a delightful experience. The atmosphere was inviting, with a charming setup that enhanced the dining experience. I ordered a classic burger with a side of fries, which was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The burger was juicy and had a great combination of fresh ingredients, including crisp lettuce and melted cheese, while the fries were golden and crispy. The service was attentive and friendly, making me feel welcome from the moment I arrived. Gees is a wonderful spot for a casual yet high-quality meal in Oxford. Nice environment. Great service: waiters and waitresses are extremely kind, polite and effective. Awful food. Their specialty is a hamburger, particularly thin, burnt on both sides (with a bitter taste) and uncooked inside, with a sad slice of tomato, a flat leaf of green lettuce, a tasteless and very very very thin slice of "cheese", all between inexplicably cold slices of bread. One of the worst hamburgers I've ever eaten.

I wish we had enjoyed our evening more! Good: + The space was unique and beautiful! Bad: - Octopus: The cook on the octopus appetizer was uneven - overcooked in some parts and almost undercooked in others despite being the same thickness. - Lamb: Lamb was not seasoned at all; no salt, pepper, or rosemary. It was also unfortunately well-done so it was quite chewy (I was not given the option to choose my temp). - Seabass: the fish dish saved the evening however it came with what can only be described as limp fajita veggies which didn't complement the fish very well. - Service, when available was good, but the servers forgot us for the most part.

Disappointing meal. Quality of food seems to have deteriorated since our last visit. We had to request ice because our white wine was not sufficiently chilled, scallop and ham croquette starters were very average. My £27 crab and chilli linguine was fishy in a good way but overcooked and lacked punch. Creme Catalan dessert wasn't good - stodgy and lemony (!?) but chocolate brownie with pistachio ice cream was "fine". For the price it was not good value for money. Serving staff were pleasant enough but I couldn't help feeling they didn't care and weren't committed. A very different dining experience from our last very positive experience 6 months ago.

Lovely airy conservatory style restaurant. Unfortunately it flatters to deceive. We ate there 6mths ago and had an excellent meal, tonight was the complete opposite. The wine was not properly chilled and we had to ask for ice. The starters were bland, the linguine was overcooked and a blob, and how anyone can anyone mess up a crème Catalan, I can still feel the greasy texture in my mouth, with a zest of lemon? 1hr later. The price was ridiculiously high. This restaurant epitomises the standard of restaurants in oxford, which with a few exceptions is quite simply appalling. I’ve lived here for 25 yrs and I can count the number of above average meals on 1 hand. Why do we have to put up with such poor standards. Superficial and lacking in substance!

Joined for dinner while visiting Oxford for the first time. Had a booking and our table was ready even though we came a bit early. Hostess was nice, got seated straight away and as it wasn't so busy got offered a few table options, which is always nice. From this moment, the service felt a bit rushed, we had servers coming to us multiple times asking if we are ready even though we were obviously still reading through the menus and deciding as the prices are not the lowest and you want to be sure to order the right thing. Starters arrived relatively fast, nettle soup and octopus tasted okay, nothing too special. However, the mains took a very long time. A large table of 6pax, who ordered after us recieved their mains before us even though they have finished their starters after us. I wouldn't be too mad, if it was at least worth it. The crispy chicken cassoulet was soo extremely vinegary, and didn't look like cassoulet at all. Their burger, that they apparently make in-house was tasteless and over-cokeed, as my boyfriend ordered medium rare and recieved medium well, bun tasted like a charcoal from the bottom. Otherwise, dessert was okay and drinks nice. But paying £28 for a chicken disaster and £20 for a screwed up burger seems to be a bit sad. Please, fix your food as it's so overpriced and pretentious. We ended up paying £140 for 2 people and didn't feel satisfied.

Gee's is one of my favourites in Oxford. I recently brought my family here for an evening meal and, as per usual, I was very impressed with the experience. The greeting on arrival by the service team was warm and friendly. We had an excellent table with a sofa on the left-hand side. The conservatory surroundings are unique and the decor is impressive. We had three courses: a soup, scallops, and the artichoke - all of which were cooked to perfection. For mains we had two servings of the fresh tagliatelle and one cod - the food was served piping hot and the flavours were excellent. We finished with a round of the berry cheesecakes, which was the highlight of our meal. Gee's has a very strong reputation in Oxford and for good reason. The dining experience and service is invariably of a very high standard. It's a restaurant I would recommend to anyone who visits the city.

This restaurant is, I have to admit, very beautiful and has got a nice classy atmosphere to it. However I wouldn't recommend going there for the food. The courses are massively underwhelming, lack of taste and balance and the seafood is not cooked properly. This is not acceptable for a menu that is very very expensive! Not good value for the money.

My experience at Gees was amazing. The service was fast and friendly. The menu is small, but everything is interesting. I chose the steak with fries, and although it was a bit expensive, it was tasty and worth it. If you plan to go on a weekday, it is okay to show up, but a reservation is suggested for weekends. They Have a dessert menu, don't forget to ask for that.

Good vibe for a Monday night in March! Enjoyed the scallops cooked perfectly. Both belly pork and chicken thighs recommended.

Finally a Chinese takeaway that's fresh and not too greasy! You can tell everything is made to order. Hands down the best Chinese Takeaway we've ever had! Will certainly be ordering again from JinJin!
