A lovely venue excellent service food was amazing.. only downside I asked if meal came with veggies and was told no and ordered them and the meal came with potatoes so we had a few more than we needed. Fig Pavlova was delicious 😋

Nice environment. Great service: waiters and waitresses are extremely kind, polite and effective. Awful food. Their specialty is a hamburger, particularly thin, burnt on both sides (with a bitter taste) and uncooked inside, with a sad slice of tomato, a flat leaf of green lettuce, a tasteless and very very very thin slice of "cheese", all between inexplicably cold slices of bread. One of the worst hamburgers I've ever eaten.

I wish we had enjoyed our evening more! Good: + The space was unique and beautiful! Bad: - Octopus: The cook on the octopus appetizer was uneven - overcooked in some parts and almost undercooked in others despite being the same thickness. - Lamb: Lamb was not seasoned at all; no salt, pepper, or rosemary. It was also unfortunately well-done so it was quite chewy (I was not given the option to choose my temp). - Seabass: the fish dish saved the evening however it came with what can only be described as limp fajita veggies which didn't complement the fish very well. - Service, when available was good, but the servers forgot us for the most part.

Lovely airy conservatory style restaurant. Unfortunately it flatters to deceive. We ate there 6mths ago and had an excellent meal, tonight was the complete opposite. The wine was not properly chilled and we had to ask for ice. The starters were bland, the linguine was overcooked and a blob, and how anyone can anyone mess up a crème Catalan, I can still feel the greasy texture in my mouth, with a zest of lemon? 1hr later. The price was ridiculiously high. This restaurant epitomises the standard of restaurants in oxford, which with a few exceptions is quite simply appalling. I’ve lived here for 25 yrs and I can count the number of above average meals on 1 hand. Why do we have to put up with such poor standards. Superficial and lacking in substance!

Disappointing meal. Quality of food seems to have deteriorated since our last visit. We had to request ice because our white wine was not sufficiently chilled, scallop and ham croquette starters were very average. My £27 crab and chilli linguine was fishy in a good way but overcooked and lacked punch. Creme Catalan dessert wasn't good - stodgy and lemony (!?) but chocolate brownie with pistachio ice cream was "fine". For the price it was not good value for money. Serving staff were pleasant enough but I couldn't help feeling they didn't care and weren't committed. A very different dining experience from our last very positive experience 6 months ago.

Joined for dinner while visiting Oxford for the first time. Had a booking and our table was ready even though we came a bit early. Hostess was nice, got seated straight away and as it wasn't so busy got offered a few table options, which is always nice. From this moment, the service felt a bit rushed, we had servers coming to us multiple times asking if we are ready even though we were obviously still reading through the menus and deciding as the prices are not the lowest and you want to be sure to order the right thing. Starters arrived relatively fast, nettle soup and octopus tasted okay, nothing too special. However, the mains took a very long time. A large table of 6pax, who ordered after us recieved their mains before us even though they have finished their starters after us. I wouldn't be too mad, if it was at least worth it. The crispy chicken cassoulet was soo extremely vinegary, and didn't look like cassoulet at all. Their burger, that they apparently make in-house was tasteless and over-cokeed, as my boyfriend ordered medium rare and recieved medium well, bun tasted like a charcoal from the bottom. Otherwise, dessert was okay and drinks nice. But paying £28 for a chicken disaster and £20 for a screwed up burger seems to be a bit sad. Please, fix your food as it's so overpriced and pretentious. We ended up paying £140 for 2 people and didn't feel satisfied.

Gee's is one of my favourites in Oxford. I recently brought my family here for an evening meal and, as per usual, I was very impressed with the experience. The greeting on arrival by the service team was warm and friendly. We had an excellent table with a sofa on the left-hand side. The conservatory surroundings are unique and the decor is impressive. We had three courses: a soup, scallops, and the artichoke - all of which were cooked to perfection. For mains we had two servings of the fresh tagliatelle and one cod - the food was served piping hot and the flavours were excellent. We finished with a round of the berry cheesecakes, which was the highlight of our meal. Gee's has a very strong reputation in Oxford and for good reason. The dining experience and service is invariably of a very high standard. It's a restaurant I would recommend to anyone who visits the city.

After seeing a lot of positive reviews of this place, me and three of my friends decided to book a table at this establishment for a valentine’s day dinner. We arrived to the restaurant on time for our reservation yet we were seated 15 minutes later than the time we selected. When we finally got seated and placed our order, the appetizers took an hour to come out. From this we had to wait ANOTHER hour and a half for our mains to arrive. Now, after all this wait you would expect to receive at least something edible, right? Unfortunately, 3 of the mains (all of which were pasta dishes) were beyond subpar. the tagliatelle was like eating bland, overcooked, soggy pasta. The linguine with the king prawn tasted like you gargled a handful of black pepper then chased it with overcooked pasta and measly prawns that, again were bland. However, I will admit that the venison loin was quite tasty, my one critique would be that the plating was rushed and looked like a lunch lady plated it. Being extremely disappointed in the service and the meal, two of my friends decided it was necessary to inform the managers about the quality of the experience and food. They were met with no apologies, no understanding and was told “thank you for your feedback”. The pastas were not taken off the bill, however our wine was taken off the bill and dessert was covered by them. Mind you, barely any of the pasta was eaten and the plate was practically full. Overall and extremely disappointing dinner, especially considering we paid 30 pound each for pastas that were not even touched or eaten. I don’t recommend this place at all.

My expectations were high for this establishment, but it ultimately fell short. The dishes lacked flavor, presentation, and attention to detail in their preparation. The fried squid starter lacked care in its presentation, while the artichoke starter felt hastily assembled. The prawn linguine lacked flavour, though the cod was enjoyable. With a bill of nearly £50pp for subpar food, I left feeling disappointed, as I believe I could have prepared better dishes myself.

A truly special and beautiful location makes up for food that seems to lack a bit of flair. It would be unfair to say the food is bad- it certainly isn’t- but for the price point it just doesn’t shine like it should. There is a concise menu, which I appreciate- but very few options for vegetarians and practically nothing for vegans, and these items are not clearly marked. We did have a lovely evening but this was largely due to outstanding ambiance, a beautiful table, and very kind and attentive wait staff! This restaurant is very close to what I would envisage. The service and food are equally well worth it. The menu is apparently seasonal, which I’m glad to hear. The dishes are the right size, enough to have satisfying lunch or dinner, and they are well seasoned (to my taste). The place seems to have quite a few regular patrons, which is a good sign. I spotted on the way out that there is an additional wing for private dining, also looking excellent.

Gees is set in a gorgeous greenhouse-like structure with floor to ceiling glass walls and a glass ceiling. I find this perfect for lunch on one of those winter days when the sky is beautifully blue but it's too cold and windy for the outdoor seating. When seating me, the waitress gave me a water jug, which I greatly appreciate (there is little that bothers me more when dining than having to wait for my water glass to be refilled) and refilled the jug without me asking when it was near empty. I had the braised octopus with potatoes and mojo rojo for my starter, loin of venison with mash and red cabbage as my main, and créme Catalana for dessert. All the dishes were delicious and wonderfully presented. The mojo rojo was the highlight of the appetizer, and the red cabbage in the main was some of the best I've had. It wasn't too sweet, which I'm glad for. I feel the venison itself was a bit cold, for some reason, and that it was done rare rather than the medium rare I asked for, but otherwise, it was very tasty. I also enjoyed the complementary bread basket, although the crust was just a tad tough. The staff were cheerful and welcoming, and I thoroughly enjoyed my time here. Highly recommend!

On arrival we were shown to our table in the beautiful old orangery and were served by an attentive waiter who had a warm and relaxing style. The order was taken and food served in good time. The quality of food was excellent. The cost was top end of what we would normally expect to pay for a celebratory lunch but was certainly worth it. The location of Gee's is away from the centre but can be reached by car, or as we did, by bus. Fully and heartily recommended.

Looked after about 15 of us for an 80th birthday lunch. Staff very helpful, food was good but not special. Whole experience was just right for the occasion. As an oldie I judged the prices excessive.... specially the wine price. However I didn't pick up the tab so all in all a great meal!

A store with a beautiful interior and a good atmosphere. It's far from the center, but worth the trip. The food is delicious and there is a wide variety of drinks.

Had a lovely experience here on a Wednesday night. We arrived in the evening and we were shown straight to the table. Service was a bit slow to start but after being noticed they were a lot more engaging. My favourite course was the scallops. They were full of flavour and cooked to perfection Both mains (chicken & steak) were cooked beautifully and thoroughly enjoyed. If I was being SUPER picky, I would say that the peppercorn sauce could have done with being a bit more acidic. It was very peppery and that could just be my preference. Regardless, the wine was lovely and had a great atmosphere. Next time I come, I would like to try the cocktails because they did look good. Would recommend

We had the seafood linguine and the fillet of hake. For desert the crème catalana and tiramisu. It was my friend’s birthday as well so they gave us free ice cream which was really nice of everyone. The food tasted incredible, even the side dishes on the plate had so much flavour since it has been seasoned so well. The hake fell apart beautifully and was throughly cooked as well as the seafood linguine . Desert was a treat and when paired with the ice cream, tasted even better. We arrived at the restaurant earlier than the time we booked online but staff were accommodating and provided us a table in the outdoor seating area and were attentive on turning on the heating for us. Overall a really positive experience, it can get quite busy hence we did feel at times it was hard to try and get the server’s attention but the food was amazing which made our night and we really enjoyed ourselves. We will happily come back again 😊

We went here for a family dinner with ages from 13 to 80. Food was good and service good initially, got less attentive as the restaurant emptied out. Overall very nice and would return.

Gees Restaurant & Bar Oxford City Mediterranean Restaurant💕 Beautiful Victorian Glass House & Secret Garden & Mediterranean Cuisine & Bar in Oxford, UK Delicious restaurants for locals and places for parties🎉 The first meal after getting off the plane is to have a full sense of ritual🥰 Open a bottle of red wine🍷Toast a glass to celebrate the joy of traveling to Europe💕 Located in a glass house in a beautiful garden, there are no tourists in the restaurant 😅 We are the only Asian faces on the table. The waiters have a cool attitude and are very casual when ordering. The doneness of the steak we requested is also very casual😅 We can eat it from medium rare to well done. The avocado salad is quite refreshing and delicious😋 The oysters are not very fresh😮‍💨The mussel pasta tastes average. My son ordered a piece of raw venison, but when he checked out, he found that it was counted as three portions😱Bat~ The thin slices of meat with only single digits in the small plate turned out to be enough for three people🤔I really thought it was a bit incredible... But we Just touch your nose and pay for it🙄 We didn’t want such a trivial matter to spoil the mood of our trip. We thought it was for three people. Why didn’t they inform us in advance? The point is that there are four of us, why is it only counted as servings for three people? The store's statement is a bit far-fetched, and there is no way for the two parties to insist on it. The store insists that it is for three people, and consumers can only pay. See Try not to order controversial things after coming, and everyone can just order their own staple food and drinks.

Great food, great service and fantastic ambience. My waitress, Andrea, recognized me the next day and even remembered my order. That rarely happens to me. Really recommended! Thank you, Andrea!

Found the staff quite rude and unhelpful. We were seated in a separate building where we were the only people and no one came to take our drinks order for over 15 minutes as all staff were in the other building. When a waiter finally appeared we said we were going to leave instead and didn't know why we had been seated in an separate room to the rest of the restaurant. We were told it was our fault for not saying something in the beginning (even though we didn't know we were being led to an empty room). I suspect if you don't fit a certain profile the staff judge and dismiss you

Update below We were celebrating a birthday as a group of 9 people and were given the large table by the bar: We left very content and happy! This is a really nice restaurant, and probably one the best places in Oxford to have a proper dinner/date night. The atmosphere is lovely, very intimate and romantic-modern, without being pretentious. Even the bar area seatings are quite nice and have a generally "darker vibe". The food is exceptional. We all had nothing to complain about, since everything from the bread to the desserts was top-notch. The drinks are also really nice, look beautiful and taste unique. The service was even better. Everyone accommodated us so nicely and especially Andrea made the evening really special! The only negative point is the relatively quite high price. You get high quality food for it, so you won't leave disappointed, but don't expect fine dining. Oxford does not have a lot to offer in terms of proper international/mediterranean food. But Gees is probably the best you can find. This experience has been much better than the Ivy and many other restaurants "on that level" in Oxford. Update: After we liked the restaurant so much the first time, we came back during the summer and left a little disappointed. The menu did not change at all compared to March, the food was ok, but this time rather bland and the atmosphere lacked a certain coziness, which we liked so much the first time. Although everyone was nice once again, the service felt quite slow and sloppy. It really seems to be a great date-spot for the darker fall and winter months because of the nice atmosphere, light and wintergarden. When it is still bright outside, however, the space almost feels cold. The food is hit or miss. We gave 5 stars the first time, the second visit was rather worth 3 stars, thus the rating.

Although the place itself is very nice and the atmosphere is very pretty, the food is not as great as the place, it wasn’t bad but for the price they charge you can get the same or better dishes for a far cheaper price. They also took a long time to bring some sides dishes we ordered.
