Fab location, lovely reception staff!!! Room was spotless! It could do with more lights and a plug near the coffee machine?! The bath sadly was like warm Otherwise excellent!!!!

My friend had stayed here and she was very disappointed with her stay, finding hairs on the bed where it's been made up although, thus bed sheet wasn't changed due to little dirt marks being on the sheet. The staff wasn't at all helpful however I think my friend had mentioned about Carole being the most helpful when help was needed! Cups were left with coffee marks still inside. Very disappointed. I was looking to stay at this hotel. Thankfully my friend gave me the heads up and I will be staying well away!

One word, gross. The room was disgusting, when we first went into the room all of the windows had been left open, we shut them and went out for dinner-on our return it smelt of sewage BADLY, dirty carpets and the bathroom.. oh my god.. drains blocked full of hair and dirt absolutely vile, especially the pink bacteria around the silicone areas of the shower. Also, paint peeling off of the walls everywhere and the ceiling. We requested that they change our room, to which the lady hostess tried to tell us the smell was smoke and not sewage. She proceeded to change our room after we said it's definitely sewage. We still had the same issues in the room they changed us to. The bathroom sink wouldn't even drain as it was so blocked up. The entrance area of the hotel looked very nice and gave us false hope for our room. Maybe if they paid more attention to detail and had their rooms deep cleaned, they wouldn't have bad reviews. Avoid!!!!

Mia & Alex were both extremely helpful and patient in dealing with my query over the phone today. I could tell that they were dealing with a particularly busy day but this did not impact their level of service and how helpful they were towards me. Thank you both so much. x

Overall really good. Breakfast is quite nice, good service and a wonderful location. Not a huge fan of the shower, it is like really small and you have to step up into it oddly. Was there for 3 weeks in October 2023. I would stay again if in the city.

Room up on the third floor is on the small side, in fact bathroom best suited for children, lift was broken so negotiating the stairs with a suitcase is a workout. Filthy behind bathroom door, also blackout curtains are useless with the walls being angled Very dissapointing for the price.

A warm welcome when we arrived by Alex. Checking in was super quick and we were in our room within minutes. Room 007! Was cosy, clean and had everything we needed. Unpacked and went to have a drink in the bar. Greeted by lovely friendly staff. Such a beautiful hotel, quirky and stylish. Stones throw from Montpelier. Breakfast was good, lovely choice of hot breakfast and continental. Would definitely recommend

My wife and I expected a luxurious hotel experience based on our stays at other Malmaison hotels but either the brand is cutting corners or the Cheltenham branch is suffering from poor management. The room was poorly maintained and equipped and felt no better than a Premier Inn. The staff were very friendly and helpful but there weren't many of them so service at the restaurant and bar was at best "average". There was no atmosphere in the evenings, a reflection perhaps on the high prices and limited menu. The dining room has open viewing into the kitchen but there was no buzz in the kitchen either. Just a couple of glum-looking glorified burger flippers. Having said all that, the food and drinks were delicious. It was just the overall experience that let things down. We stayed two nights (Friday and Saturday) and very much regretted our choice of hotel. Extremely poor value for money.

Friendly staff, excellent breakfast, and gorgeous architecture (the conservatory and lounge is a must-see haven). The room on the other hand, leaves something to be desired considering its status as a four-star accommodation. The air conditioner makes a terrible noise when running, the switch to one of the bedside lamps is broken, the sink is tiny in a huge bathroom with zero counter space, and soundproofing is next to non-existent (our friend's neighbouring guest's cellphone vibration/alarm can be heard going off at 5am). Parking lot is easily filled, you may have to find street parking further away (make sure to offload your luggage first before doing so). Overall still a very pleasant stay, but it's the missing little details that made the four-star rating a bit lackluster.

Recently spent a couple of days at the hotel with my sisters and had a fantastic stay. Our rooms were lovely and clean and the hotel is in a perfect location for bars and restaurants as well as a gentle walking distance from town centre. However, the best thing about the hotel was the staff, particularly Alex on reception. Nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was good with a good selection of continental items as well as cooked. The team in the bar were good too with their ready advice on a nice red wine or rum! Thanks team - I'm sure we'll be back!

Hotel is beautiful inside and out. Biggest bath tub I’ve ever seen directly in the bedroom. Staff on reception very helpful when we needed new batteries for the remote and ordering some firmer pillows for the room. Only issue is dim lighting in room but that is the malmaison staple.

A really lovely stay. Dinner on Friday was really good, very good table service and a wine list that didn’t charge like a wounded Rhino Room was fantastic, breakfast in the morning great selection and freshly cooked to order. Will definitely be back

Love the atmosphere, especially in the back. I can highly recommend the peanut butter and jelly burger - yes, you read that right. It really works!

Interesting pub. Service poor. Beware, a pint costs £7.25p.a pint. Wouldn’t go there again.
