Mallard in Doncaster

Visited this pub today, main meals werent too bad but nothing to make me want it again. However i was really irritated by the fact i had ordered dessert through the app, waited around 30 mins as i understand hospitality venues can be busy and experience delays however when no dessert turned up i asked at the bar about this. The staff seemed to have no idea what to do about it. I expressed i would now like it to take out as i had a bus to catch & was presented with a cold piece of cake which i paid nearly £6 for (menu states served warm with ice cream) & recieved absolutely no apology for this from any of the staff who dealt with it.

Paul served us and kyron in the bar Lovely place to meet up with friends lovely staff. We all enjoyed with our meal Big serving most of my friends shocked for Big portion of fish and some of my friends ordered Ham and Eggs I had Big combos etra sweet potatoes that i shared with my friend still cant managed to finished all will come back again in the future .Thank you Paul and Jade we all happy and full tummy 😋

It’s a really sad review from me!! It wasn’t busy, service was really quick! Unfortunately it was cold and the meat was under cooked, it was and tasted raw. We didn’t bother chasing someone round to tell them about it because no one could be bothered to ask if it was ok so I wasn’t going to chase anyone around the pub to tell them. It was a let down, even though the plates were presented very nicely. Little touches could have made a difference

Food very good and promptly served. Easy to order and pay from your table so no hanging about waiting for the bill.

The food was very disappointing had the lamb kofta flatbread and it looked like burnt mince it was cold and the sweet potato fries where just as bad. Noone came and checked to see if everything was ok.

service was absolutely superb . the waiters/waitresses go above and beyond , however the food was quite grim . been before and it’s been alright but visiting yesterday i was quite disappointed with how stone cold the food was , steak being horrendously overcooked and veg tasting like it’s just come out of the freezer

Great service from a very friendly team who were very helpful and accommodating to our table of six adults and three young children.

I come here with my boyfriend to treat him to a meal and the service was lovely by our server abi 5 stars polite and quick. The food was delicious too so a big thank you to keith.

Served by Chloe today, lovely service by her, quick and efficient. Place was clean and welcoming, overall a great visit whilst waiting for our connecting train from the adjacent station.

I come here every week pretty much and always see the same staff. The best of the lot is a woman called Beth, she is always in good spirits and always has time for the customer. Only bad thing is her football team😂. Would definitely recommend coming here for a quick bite to eat.

The soft drinks could be refillable instead of paying again again

I tried to do a review yesterday but I couldn’t get on to site so I had to wait for my daughter in law. Abi was brilliant and she gave excellent service. Made our visit really pleasant.

Beautiful food. Server jack was very helpful and friendly. Quick service and food was lovely.

Can't fault the food....good value for what you get, and the staff are amazing....friendly, welcoming and helpful. Just a shame about the staff member who was off duty who was swearing at the top of his voice constantly, sat talking to other staff. His language was absolutely disgusting, and when we mentioned this to the manager, we were told that it wasn't the first time a customer had complained. If we had had our daughter with us, we would have walked out. No need for this when we are trying to enjoy a meal.

Didn't like the breakfast. It was swimming in fat and everything looked like it was dark s old. The sausages were like something the cat left in the garden!

Fabulous food close to the train station

The staff were friendly and polite. The surroundings were clean and tidy. The good arrived quickly and was delicious.

I ordered a 8oz rump steak well done the steak was love on the outside bot tough on the inside

Walked in to have breakfast. Needed loo beforehand so went to the loo. Floor was covered in shit as was toilet seat. Wasn’t even solid is was liquid. Walked out and went elsewhere. Worst part, it was 10:30am. Cleaning rota hadn’t had inspection since opening at 8am. Disgusting

Great friendly service from Beth and Terri. Once I’d found a table with a socket nearby, it was a great place to work for 3 hours while I had a great midweek deal or a (proper) steak pie and chips AND a lasagne and salad for just £12.99. Chef Andy’s chips were super tasty: really nice crunch with deliciously soft interior. Comfortable, modern. Greene King always wins against the ‘Spoons, although I’d love their soft drinks to be a bit more generously sized.

Ordered the Super Special Breakfast via the app. The drinks arrived almost instantly and the food arrived shortly after. All was cooked well, the only let down was cold plates. This meant the food was cold when we were less than halfway through. The service was excellent though, Abi was polite and friendly and was always smiling

Came for a meal with my parter, first time we've managed to get out in a very long time. Food was lovely and a massive shout out to Tom who was our waiter, absolute character, made us laugh, made sure everything went well during our visit. From start to finish he was amazing. Deserves the recognition 100%

We was greeted with a smile for the bother in laws birthday meal. We was served by Chloe who informed us of being short staffed. She then continued to go into the kitchen help cook and serve. I would love to say thank you to Kelly for the food even though it being a big order for 10 everything was cooked amazing and everyone enjoyed. Not to mention Terri for bringing the cake and singing happy birthday and making the evening for the birthday boy. And I’m sure caz has done just as amazing with everything out back with washing the pots as the team are all amazing and lovely.

We were served by Ellie who was very chatty and kind! The cheesecake was beautiful and I snagged a few of my boyfriend’s chips which were lovely too. Very well priced and definitely my favourite pub!

We ordered two chicken burgers, one with allegedly extra gravy as described on the menu. However, what we got was very poor. The extra gravy came out in a very small thimble sized bowl. So not extra gravy at all ! The chicken was dreadfull and the bread was stale. All in all uneatable. There was no interest from the staff, nobody came to our table to ask if everything was OK. We left feeling very disappointed and will not go back again.

I had booked a table for breakfast at 9.30am on 25th January 2025. Arrived 10 minutes early and when and sat down to look at the breakfast menu. I then went to the bar to order a Beans on toast and then used the option to add extras one of which was 3 hash browns another being one sausage. I wanted to swap 1 hash brown for another sausage as it would have cost the same but apparently I wasn't allowed to do that and even offered to pay for the extra sausage but no. I won't be going there for breakfast again.

“Cracking pub! Popped into The Mallard in Doncaster for some grub and a pint, and it did not disappoint. The food was spot on—proper tasty, good portions, and didn’t break the bank. Staff were friendly and quick, even though it was busy. Loads of TVs showing the footy, decent atmosphere, and a great pint. Can’t fault it—will definitely be back!”

First time here. Good pub food- good labelling for vegetarians, vegans etc and ask about any food allergies on ordering. Friendly and efficient staff. Nice wine choices. Pub was clean and staff cleared tables very quickly after people left the tables surrounding us. No faults and would visit again.

8.29 for a brekfast my 3 year old son could eat and still be hungry

The food was nice but here's my issue. Monday they have a kids eat for a pound. I ordered from the correct menu as far as I was aware ( double cheeseburger) and was asked about sides so I picked. They put it through as a meal deal with a single burger so lost the deal. They charged me full price. When I asked why it was so much after paying they said oh it was cause my meal was a lunch meal. I looked again and realized that wasn't the case, so I questioned it and I got a response of, oh thats why I don't eat our it's so expensive. I even pointed out the error and Ali got offered condolences and nothing more After they did offer a free pudding but we couldn't stay due to a hospital appointment. So I paid full price for the wrong meal I didn't ask for. It's not end of the world but it's frustrating when you point it out and all you get is a lukewarm response. They even said they have that many promotions it's hard to keep track. Just a bit of a mess really sadly. Used to come a fair bit but will think again if we plan to use the promotion. EDIT IN RESPONSE - I queried it at the till, at the table when we had barely started again 5 mins later to point out the error, and again just before we left. Also as far as I could see the Kids eat for £1 is not to be used in conjunction with any other offer. The lunch menu isn't under any offer if it's part of the same menu. If it is it needs to be clarified. What a shame.

We had a table reserved which was ready early for us, the pub was spotless! I ordered wine at the bar and had a laugh with the staff whilst there. I had one of your Saturday specials the jerk chicken and wings one and it was really nice!! My daughter loved her jacket potato, my mum enjoyed her Chinese style Saturday offer. My mum’s partner and my husband and my brother in law all had the same mini burger Saturday offer and said the chicken burgers were nice but the beef burgers weren’t great, but they did enjoy the rest of it. The staff were very quick and friendly, the prices were spot on!! We took a look at your other options for the future and loved the variety of deals all week, and I love the sound of wine Wednesday!! Was a fabulous offer!! We really enjoyed our visit, please pass on our thanks to the staff and wish them a merry Christmas from us!

Didn't plan to be here but my train was cancelled and I needed to find something to eat. Dipped into here to grab food. A good burger (I had the beyond burger) and one of my preferred lagers, both served very quickly so I could catch the next train. Chips were super hot and there were so many of them. And the staff were super friend (Beth and Terri, apparently). Next time my trains mess me around, I'm reassured to know this place is here!

Grandson and myself had a lovely lunch. Such a nice relaxes atmosphere and such friendly and helpful guests. It's my go place to eat and drink xxx

Had Christmas lunch with friends. Great atmosphere. All staff went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our meal, particularly Dan who couldn't do enough for us. Would definitely recommend .

Got order wrong and false advertising

So today after a very stressful day in Doncaster, I was greeted by a lovely server called Ian. Ian looked after me, my partner and my daughter from the moment we entered the establishment. The food was amazing the service from ian was spectacular. And his recommendations were really good, thank you to the chef and more importantly ian. Thanks for an amazing time

I used to go here all the time. The staff are lovely and really helpful. Recently they've had an upgrade on their menu....... More like a down grade. Disappointed just isn't the word. I ordered the Burger Sizzler combo which consists of a bacon cheese burger, chicken wings and a rump steak with Texan BBQ sauce on a sizzling skillet of peppers and onions. With fries and corn on the cob. No where did it say on the menu that the burger would have mayonnaise on which is a massive allergy issue for people who can't have mayonnaise. Also the lack of actual bacon (I removed the hard plastic cheese) one tiny rasher of bacon! The bun tasted strange and it also came with a lettuce and onion. The food was quite frankly awful 😞. The chicken wings were clearly cooked from frozen and the steak was tiny as there was no weight on the menu. Such a shame.
