Maliwan's in Sedgemoor

My family can't get enough of this restaurant! We've been back three times, and each visit has been a delight. The restaurant consistently earns high scores, usually between 4 and 5. We gave it a perfect five because they allowed us to sit down before our allocated booking, and there was no service charge. The only problem was that the coconut rice was drier than usual, and we had to ask the waitresses to clean our table. Apart from these minor issues, the menu is incredibly diverse (and fair prices), the restaurant has a cosy and traditional theme, and the service from the waitress was delightful!

Come back there after a long break. We had an amazing experience once again! One of the best restaurants in Bridgwater. Definitely recommend 🖤

Lovely place to go for a lovely meal in Bridgwater if you like Thai food. The service was very good and carried out pleasantly and politely. The meal is extremely tasty and flavoursome in generous portions and reasonably priced. I couldn't finish it all and asked to take the rest home. The place itself was warm, subtle and just the right size, as it wouldn't get too crowded or loud. The atmosphere was quiet and calm. I would definitely go there again.

I ordered pad Thai noodles as this is my favourite dish and I am new in Bridgewater and this was the only Thai place. I order through Deliveroo and once the food arrived at the hotel where I am staying, I opened the pad Thai and they were all sticky sqare block of noodles without any condiments plus the smell was off. I also orded a soup which I decided not to open since the pad Thai weren’t good. So I called the restaurant asking for collection of these items and refund. Collection was fine refund they suggested to call Deliveroo. As soon as the driver went to pick up the food, the hotel host collected it from me and gave it to the driver. The driver sent the host back to my room with the message “ the driver said that she wants to have a word with you about the food” and I could not believe this already and I told him I could not go down as I was in Pijamas. That did not end there. A lady called me shouting and crossing talking me saying that I ruined their food as I opened the package. And I tried to explain her how would I know if food is it good or not if I do not open it and taste it ? But it was completely useless as she kept shouting me and how I made them lost £14 pounds 🤯 I really cannot believe this! I was lucky that I found another place open other ways I wouldn’t have any dinner. So be mindful when to order at the actual store as the food might not be good and you won’t get a refund even if you did not eat the food.

Visited as a couple for dinner 28/10/22. A warm welcome from wonderful staff,very attentive. A great selection of starters and mains. My wife and myself have been very fortunate to visit and tour Thailand on numerous occasions. We have tried many UK Thai restaurants but, this is the first time in years that we have been “taken back to Thailand”. Both of us enjoyed our food immensely. The ambiance is very relaxing and gives the feeling of not being rushed. We only had contact with two beautiful female staff (mother and daughter?) who were there when we required anything. We both recommend this restaurant highly and we would say it is a “must try”.

A very nice Thai restaurant with a good selection of delicious authentic food, lovely and friendly staff, and responsive owner/chef. We are vegetarian and there was a great selection of food.

The food was lovely and well presented. The starter platter had a lovely selection. The lemon chicken was tender but the portion was large and could have done with a bit more sauce. The Thai Green curry was as expected and flavoursome.

This restaurant has really good thai food. Big menu, maybe a little expensive, and service was ok. Staff didn’t really pay attention to customers.

I called in late March 2022 to make a lunch reservation the following day, and was told Maliwans do not open for lunch. When I mentioned that it was clearly displayed on their website, the lady said that they do not have a website any longer, they had not paid for the website for 2 years, and that the information on the website was inaccurate. This, presumably, covers their food offerings as well, so I would check telephonically if the information is accurate. We didn't go to lunch!

Extremely friendly and attentive staff, food served really quickly and it was so yummy. There was so much of it! The Set menu is so cheap for what you get. Will defo revisit.

Worst take away I’ve ever had!! Cold, greasy, rice and noodles Congealed couldn’t even eat. Pad Thai tasted like frozen veg in Garvey. So disappointed and feel rip offed wasn’t cheap for what we received. Never never again don’t bother wasting your money, absolutely disgusting 🤢

Happened to be in the area and booked a table for four . So pleased that we did from the warm greeting to the excellent food and service. A large menu but still difficult to please my 12 year old son. However, they managed to prepare the fuss pot his food just the way he likes it . Great value as well .

This is a lovely small authentic Thai restaurant with very delicious food. Make sure you try some starters as well. The service is excellent and always with a smile. It is also great value for money.

Ordered a takeaway as staying close by for business. Food delivered on time and all hot. Food was nice and plentiful the chicken breast tikka really nice and moist.

Just turned up on the off chance and they managed to squeeze us in. We chose the Chiang mai set menu, fantastic quality food but too much for the pair of us. What we couldn’t eat was put in containers to take away. Excellent value...

Always a very good experience indeed , I have to say as some one who has lived and spent a lot of time in Thailand that this is as close to the best Thai quality food as your going to get in the uk ,I even asked for( cow pat gai kai dao )the last time I was there lol Which I have really missed as is my favourite breakfast in Thailand , they made it for me and it was amazing and I loved it ...5 starsI always ask for my satay chicken to be grilled as so much better than having it fried ,They always give the best service, and the last time I think the owner’s daughter served us , Lovley girl , Please please please don’t change any think Best Thai food in the south west (possibly uk)Have probably eaten in 30 thai restaurants in the uk alone Many thanks and keep up the 5 star service you guys Russell J Chedzoy

Have had really excellent food here before. Tonight ordered a takeaway of Phad Med Mamuang chicken with sticky rice. The sticky rice was superb however it was pork not chicken in the dish and was a bit hard and chewy. Not as spicy as I was led to believe . The brown prawn crackers were crispy but the white ones were soft. Good and friendly reception and the restaurant looked very clean. A little too bland taste wise and the wrong meat let it down. Shame as I have recommended this place to a lot of people. Perhaps a change of chef or supplier?

Had takeout and sit down meals in Maliwans and have never ever been disappointed. Always great service and fanatic tasting food.

My first visit to Maliwans, on a drizzly, cold midweek evening. It was early, about 6pm, we hadn't booked but the restaurant had plenty of free tables.

Last night (Sunday) we decided after a very busy weekend to splash out and have a nice meal here.....really wish we had stayed at home though! The starters started well with the exception of the chicken skewer which was hard a tough, but it went down hill from there. I ordered Thai Green chicken curry my husband had a Duck dish, we shared a chicken noodle dish. The noodles arrived first and the chicken looked odd, when I cut into it it didn’t seem right somehow, on trying a piece it was very chewy and looked stringy! My Thai green curry & husbands duck arrived but sadly the chicken in mine was the same, totally tasteless & the texture was “wrong”. My husbands Duck was the same chewy but with no taste! The lady offered me a beef or a pork version so I went for the beef. That was the same! We have always really enjoyed our meals here so the only thing I can say is, I think they may have changed their meat supplier! We didn’t eat our meal, paid up and left. They did take the cost of the Thai curry off the bill but we still paid (4 drinks inc, 2 soft 2 Lagers) £50 for a meal we didn’t eat! Needless to say we won’t be returning. Disappointing...

Excellent service and food is simply delicious. Have been a few times now and has been just as good each time. Planning to go again before the end of 2018.

We had the Bangkok set menu for 2 and 2 lemon chicken dishes (for 3 adults and 3 kids), it was plenty of food and all the dishes was delicious and fresh. Thoroughly recommend. Pad Thai and green Thai curry were our favourites!

Traditional Thai restaurant in Bridgwater. The waitresses, in pretty Thai-style dresses, were very efficient and friendly. The food was absolutely delicious and plentiful and the price very reasonable.

This was my first visit to Maliwan's in over a year so I was hoping it was still as good as it has been in the past. I wasn't disappointed at all!

What can I say, excellent service, lovely food, a pleasure to eat here, amazing to think a restaurant like this can exist in a place like Bridgwater, it's like going to Burnham and finding clear blue sea, yet this isn't a dream, if you live in Bridgwater and know how to use a knife and fork ( there are a few of you I' m sure ) then give this place a try.

We had the yellow Thai curry and red Thai curry and was beautiful. For a bit of fun I ordered cream of sum young guy but it turns out it is actually a dish ha ha brilliant .

Recibían bien por una señora llena de sonrisas y de forma encantadora. Pedimos el Nua Prik Thai Dam - tiras de carne solomillo frito con elegante y Lemon Grass. Tan sabroso y gran parte con un buen medio de calor. Teníamos con arroz glutinoso y fideos con verduras salsa de soja y huevos. Nuevo porciones grandes. 20 minutos más tarde estaba bien presentado en cajas para ser buena. Estamos por lo menos 30 minutos más tarde, pero todavía era muy caliente. Agradables asientos para esperar. El lugar es muy limpio y ordenado y buena decoración. Volveré y lo recomiendo. Por menos de 30 libras fue una buena relación calidad-precio.

Después de convertirse en cada vez más desanimado sobre la monotonía de llevar y tan remilgado con india y china en los últimos años, este restaurante es toda una revelación. El menú es diferente e imaginativo, la comida llena de sabor y novela los gustos.

Este restaurante está en mi puerta y yo pagamos una visita de cumpleaños. Me quedé muy impresionado con el servicio, la calidad de la comida y el ambiente. La comida era tan buena como la que he probado en Tailandia, y que sin duda volveremos para otras visitas y traer amigos y familiares.

My 2nd visit to this lovely restaurant. Like the first time, the food was amazing! Hot and well cooked. Had duck with special fried rice. Service was good and quick. The restaurant was clean and the atmosphere was good. Prices are very reasonable. There's no parking right outside but a small car park across the street

The staff are lovely and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble. We had an absolutely excellent meal. There was plenty to eat, so much so that I couldn't finish mine and that's unusual The prices are very good for the quantity and high standard. We also had a bottle of Chenin Blanc which was of good quality and served ice cold. Definitely recommend this restaurant.

Went there for the first time today for the lunchtime set meal. The food was delicious but sadly the portions were rather small and we came away still hungry. Does this mean lunchtime portions are smaller than evening portions?

Food very good. Staff very friendly and helpful. We will certainly visit again. We ordered a banquet so we had a selection of different dishes to taste. This was lovely, but too much for us, however the staff gave us doggy bags so nothing was wasted! It was a nice night out.

Best Thai around..I have been here 3 times now.The food is just delicious,I also have the red prawn Thai.The prawns are huge! Friendly staff.The restaurant is very small which is a shame and you do feel like everyone can hear your conversations as it's very quiet...it doesn't really have a cosy feeling inside but I will keep going back as the food is just delicious!!

We arrived without a reservation on a Sunday evening.It was not too busy so managed to arrange a table for two.The service is excellent with a great selection of Asian and Thai food, this is not the first visit so we new the menu well and therefore knew just what we wanted, but the staff are great at helping to choose if uncertain of the food.The house wines are a great choice and very tasty.

Went here while working in the area, and have been several occasions before. Great little place. always pleasant helpful staff, and the place is spotless. Food wise I haven't had much Thai before so it's a little hard to gauge whether it's authentic. But we have always really enjoyed it. Will definitely be back when we return.

We visited this restaurant a couple of weeks ago and had a very good meal. Staff were very friendly and efficient. The food was excellent and we are pleased that this restuarant is so close as we will definitely visiting this often.

We've been going to this restaurant for a while and have to say this is the best Thai food you can have in Somerset. Not many Thai restaurants in UK offer the green papaya salad and Maliwan's does it exactly like the one we've had in Thailand! If you are lucky, they also offer Mango sticky rice as pudding. Food is fantastic and service is excellent, the staff always have a smile on their face and nothing is too much trouble.

Having heard all the good reviews about this Resturant we decided to give it a try.The Resturant was busy but we were lucky to get a table on a sat Eve at 8pm.The service was pleasant and efficient and the food good and plentiful. Thai restaurants are not particularly cheap but if you like Thai food you will not be disappointed, so give it a try.

We ordered a takeaway and we were expecting a high standard but boy were we disappointed !! Insipid Thai green curry , cold sticky coconut rice and prawns that were barely cooked . The sad thing is the best part of the meal was the free ... The prawn crackers #neveragain !!

We dropped by without booking and were lucky that a table was free. This is a busy little restaurant with a nice atmosphere. Service was great and friendly. Our starters (mixed starter) were delicious, our main meals (curries) were very tasty, but we felt the meats in both were not of the highest quality. Tiny thin pieces of fatty duck and slightly resilient beef which tasted "cheap". We would return and probably try a fish or tofu dish instead.

This was a visit after checking on trip advisor where was good near to our hotel. We were blown away by the quality of service, atmosphere and the food, boy the food. There was so much we had to take 20 minutes after the meal before we could move! The staff were delightful and we were pleased we booked before because this place, I hope, will. Grow and grow. There are only 35 seats or so so book first to ensure you get in. We had the set meal for two and it was delicious and enormous .....go and enjoy!!!!

Maliwan's is my favourite place to dine in Bridgwater. My fiancé and I eat here on a regular basis and have never been disappointed with the food or the service. It's a really lovely place for couples to dine as the atmosphere is wonderful. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated and very authentic. But the best thing of all is the food! The food is heavenly and so well presented. You get excellent value for money as the potion sizes are very generous. I'm vegan and I have a choice of items on the menu that I can order. I fully recommend the spicy peanut tofu. Mailwan's is a must if you are dining out in Bridgwater.

This is a local take away/restaurant to me. Have been to the restaurant but mostly have take away. The food is tasty with a good choice, and according to my sister who has been to Thailand, it is authentic in taste, compared to some Thai restaurants who seem to adapt their menu to western tastes. The staff are very friendly, and it doesn't break the bank, however they do not deliver. I would recommend the Tom Yum Soup to start.

Visited Maliwan's Bridgwater for first time this evening for our 20th wedding anniversary meal - a delicious meal, with prompt service. There is plenty of choice on the menu, with extensive number of vegetarian dishes too. Food arrived very quickly after ordering, pleasant atmosphere - great to see a good restaurant full! On this visit, it was cash only as the card machine was not working - we were told about this at time of phone booking and as we entered.Highly recommended.
