Malcolm Barnecutts in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

our easter was made popping into here. given it was a holiday weekend, the staff didn’t seem to mind being open at all, were incredibly friendly and helpful in discussing the flavours of the pasties available (which i must add, is a LOT - you won’t be disappointed with the selection of salads, sandwich fillings, pastries and cakes), and to top it off even gave us an extra doughnut out of sheer kindness! it’s a treat going to any MB bakery in Cornwall, but this one left a fab feeling in our minds and bellies when we left. we will be back! a must-visit when looking for a cracking pasty!

What Annoys Me about Malcolm Barnecutts Bakery in Pool: * Severe understaffing, leading to slow service. * Staff multitasking with various responsibilities, affecting efficiency. * The Salad bar often runs out before/around lunchtime and isn't replenished * Long wait times due to Eat in customers, Coffee making and phone duties. It's impossible to pop in for a quick takeaway lunch due to slow service which impacts accessibility into the small car park. * Inadequate parking results in queues spilling onto the road, posing a safety risk. * The feeling that staff are doing their best but are not adequately supported by management. This has been ongoing for a long time. As a local customer, I am regularly disappointed. Consistent Aspect: The only reliable guarantee is the availability of pasties; other menu items are hit-and-miss. I'm Cornish, I love a pasty but I don't always want to eat a pasty. If you are to offer alternatives please make them consistently available throughout the day, especially at peak lunchtimes.

Very popular spot with locals for a pasty, a breakfast bap or coffee and cake. A lovely clean bakery with a few tables and a sunny outlook. No-nonsense, efficient service. The classic pasties were sold out when we arrived, although a new tray came out of the oven after about twenty minutes. The highlight was the coffee - the flat white was excellent, piping hot, and was brought to our table in a china cup. The bakery is just off the A30 and about five minutes walk from the Fibre Hub, which has a row of Tesla Super Chargers, so you could pop over for a pasty while your car is charging.

It’s always a great pleasure to pop in here a few times each week. The staff team are a hard working team of lovely people for whom nothing is too much trouble. The place is spotless and the food is the very highest quality and tasty. Keep up the good work guys, you are an example to all that is rarely seen elsewhere.

Called here when staying in area. Great Cornish pasties. Large selection of cakes. Seating inside or takeaway. Parking at the back. Great find.

Good pasties, tasty, full of flavour and not a grey sludge of badly seasoned potato, like the majority seem to be. We had veg and a cheese and onion both excellent value for money...even the pastry was light, cooked through and not stodge like a lot are. On top of all that a great flatwhite!

Here, and at all other branches, you will find the best shop-bought Cornish pasties you can buy. Wonderful selection of other goodies.

I have had tried all of the different pasties in my area many times and these are my current favourites. Not naming any but there are a few that have gone downhill over the years. I took 6 frozen cocktail pasties and wasn't expecting them to be as nice as the fresh version. However they were fantastic, I purchased 15 more as they are handy to put in the oven when we are feeling lazy.

Wow every visit is a great experience!!! What wonderful staff always very helpfull and no matter how busy always time for each customer with a SMILE great customer service. Prices are good and quality of goods are amazing. Well done everyone. Can't wait to visit again. Keep going as you are.

There is always a wonderful choice of food in here. The pasties are amazing, and not full of salt. The cakes are really lovely as well, my children spend ages though as there are so many different ones to choose from, but I just ask the assistant to come back to us, no problem. The staff are always very helpful and polite. Last year I used to go there especially for the Mocha as it was 100% better than any other coffee shop Mocha, (this year our trips out have been minimal) Well done to everyone in the shop for being there for us in a global pandemic, whilst still smiling and having to keep the place spotless to keep us safe. I won't go in the 'big chain coffee shops' and I am sad that they are situated so close to Barnecutts. Keep it local.

First class service. Always helpful from the first phone call. The guy that took the order was so helpful. The cake tasted amazing. It was exactly what we wanted and better! My daughter was delighted with it. They will try their best to do anything you ask. Good price/value too. Only need a few days notice. I paid £22.25 for an 8 inch square. We asked for lemon cake with lemon curd and buttercream.

Decided to try Barnecutts as we had seen very long queues a couple of weeks ago. Excellent pasties, filed with plenty of tasty meat & veg. Cheese and onion pasties had a good strong flavour! My husband said you had huge baps!! Doughnuts were delicious although some of us would prefer raspberry jam, the iced Chelsea buns were a delight.... great value for money and good customer service.....
