Malcolm Arms in East Lindsey

Was told about the food here so I thought I would take my mum for tea on Saturday night . The 2 young girls on duty was very polite and service from them was good. Food was delicious home made steak pie 😋lots to choose from on the menu. Only one thing let it down and that was the music . 🎵 but thank you for the lovely food.

We visited on a chilly Sunday afternoon. I had the mixed grill and my companion had the Sunday lunch. The food was well cooked, hot and tasty. We were served by a pleasant lady, who was helpful and efficient. Portions were generous. We couldn’t fault any of it and will be back soon. Sadly we didn’t have room for puddings. Thanks all.

Went for a family Sunday lunch, it was a below average experience. Carvery - very small amount of meat, vegetable choice was poor, Cauliflower & broccoli cheese, leeks in cheese sauce and carrots. There were very few roast potatoes and parsnips which must have been kept warm a while as they were soggy not crispy. Service - waitresses did their best, not enough of them, dirty glasses never cleared, had to go find someone to ask to see a dessert menu, order was wrong when it arrived, in all fairness they did knock one off the bill. Big mix ups on custard and cream requirements and a long wait for spoons after the desserts arrived as they were waiting for spoons to be wrapped in a napkin. Visited many times in the past for an evening meal That has been acceptable , Sunday lunch here just not for me.

The management and waitresses were brilliant and the food was cooked to perfection and everything was clean and tidy

Have been back on three visits since our first trip,the standards remain consistently high and have had a great experience on each visit.

We had a fantastic lunch, food is delicious and very reasonable, excellent service, also the barmaid was very pleasant, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Went with my wife and adult stepdaughter as part of the river trip. The welcome,food quality and quantity and price were all impressive. Good service at the bar and in the dining room from the attentive and friendly staff. The stroganoff was wonderful and we shall certainly be going back again by car to work our way through the menu!!

Visited here as part of Boston Belle Sea & River Trips. Friendly and welcoming staff. Nice garden. Menu extensive-lots of choice and very nice. Only slight thing-would have liked vegetarian gravy with the meal. Look forward to coming back!

Not sure if we visited the same pub as the last 2 reviewers as we had a lovely warm welcome and a fabulous meal. Just wish I'd taken pics before I ate it all! Had a ham baguette and for the price expected just that with salad. When it came it was huge with a stack of home made proper chip pan style chips home made coleslaw and a lovely fresh salad. Partner had a cheese burger and his was awesome too. Great food, great welcome - what a gem! Definitely coming back soon! Thank you :)

This place has sadly gone downhill, the food is not as good as it used to be, there's never many staff on, the waitresses aren't as friendly, there's no warm welcome when you walk in anymore. Twice they've had no rice in, the lemonade was flat last time we went and the portions have got smaller. Such a shame because we used to love it here!!!!

Hadn’t been for a while and was a bit disappointed with some things. The young girl serving was not very polite or apologetic when she spilt quite a few of hubbys chips on the floor, there was no offer of more chips on an already bare plate. I think a bit of training in how to speak to people would be advantageous, the hunters chicken was nice but only a few chips, no salad or garlic bread. Dad had fish and chips which he said the fish and peas were great but chips were anaemia and soggy. I had lamb shank which was the best meal and really enjoyed it.

Had two evenings at the Malcolm Arms and two meals with my wife and friends - food was excellent - as was the service. Couldn't be faulted. Thank you

Fantastic meal, the steak was cooked to perfection. Followed by a light chocolate mousse dessert. My partner could of eaten a 3 course meal as left him wanting more. Maybe offer 3 or 2 courses next year.

Goodness me, our Jumbo Haddock, Chips & Mushy Peas last night were fantastic. This is a regular haunt for us so I don't know why we're surprised how good the food is. See the attached image which shows my meal. My husband's Haddock was a little bigger if that's possible. The pic says it all. 😍😍😍😍😍🏅

We went to the Malcom arms on Sunday evening for a family meal as we had heard it had changed hands. We had lovely home cooked food. I would throughly recommend it.

We went for the Sunday Carvery. The food was very tasty. A good choice of meat and vegetables . The desserts were exceptional and we had a good lunch and the waitresses worked hard but were very helpful and pleasant.

Came to the malcolm Arms for my friends 40th birthday. Food was OK, staff were lovely. And they had a band on which were brilliant, thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Celebrated a birthday here with a big party of 21. Food was all excellent , all came out together. Worth a visit

Called off whilst out walking. Friendly welcome. Dogs and muddy boots all accepted. Holiday park behind. The decor in the bar could do with a refresh, but the food and drinks were great. Would call here again.

Visited on Tuesday afternoon to find a dog friendly welcoming atmosphere. We enjoyed the steak pie, mixed grill, mushroom stroganoff and broccoli and cheese bake (not to forget to mention that Florence the dog really enjoyed her chicken breast). Clean tables served by attentive staff....

Had a fantastic meal here last Saturday (22nd Jan). Had a 60th Birthday Party with about 30 people attending. Meals came out all together, were very tasty, and filling, waitresses were on the ball, watching and attentive. Would definately recommend a visit. Will be back.

Fantastic pub that serves great food, called in for a few drinks (Stella is exceptional) and decided to dine. The menus are varied and offer great choices the food was plentiful and of top quality. The service was excellent and I would highly recommend a visit once we can dine out again.

Great to have this place as our local. Always a warm, friendly welcome and pleasant atmosphere. The homemade food is delicious and we have never been disappointed. Looking forward to when the live music can start again.

Service was good, food was lovely. Sat outside nice outdoor area. Nice little village pub near the river if you wanted a walk after or before also their is a bike route all the way from Boston at the side of the river the whole way to the pub.

We popped in here on the way home from the Pilgrim one evening, about 5ish. Now I have to say this, if I was reviewing the bar and waiting staff they would get 5 stars easily. Very welcoming, pleasant, can't do enough for you. Ale was excellent. The place is a bit tired, could do with an update. We both ordered the Ribeye steak, rare. When the plates came the portions were huge, perfect chips, lovely mushrooms, salad, grilled tomato, peas...way more than we could manage. However it was the steak that ruined it. It was tough, way overcooked, not burnt but more like stewed beef, just couldn't eat it, our jaws were hurting. It was such a shame but at £45 I'm afraid it just wanted good enough.

From Sunday Carvery to Steak night on a Friday you cant fault it.The chips are to die for !!!Fish and Chips a firm favourite but so much choice on menu.Excellant food generouse portions,if and it is only an if there is a problem its sorted immeadiatly.My husband and I go whenever we can wouldnt go anywhere else. Dissapointed I cant go for my birthday at end of month but will as soon as possible.Just a personal thing I hate the oblong plates!!

Visited the establishment tonight with friends ordered our meals which were all mixed grill. Eventually when they turned up half an our later we were met with an oblong trough packed with the food on top of one another a salad which resembled the coleslaw plonked at the side of it complete with two dashes of a balsamic dressing. The meat was hard unchewable at times with meager portions for the price paid. No hand made chips either and to top it off I was missing an item as advertised. All in all a very disappointing dining experience.

We were recommended stopping for lunch here by a local when we were passing through the area. We weren't disappointed. Large seating area and friendly locals and staff.Hubby opted for a filled baguette and I a jacket potato with beans and cheese. Both were huge.The chips that hubby ordered alongside his baguette were delicious The jacket potato was also huge and I was unable to finish it.Highly recommend stopping by here to dine

Called in here tonite after a busy day. Found Haggis on the menu in respect of Burns night.This came with a shot of a lovely single malt.I had it with chips and gravy.My partner had a lovely prawn salad which was absolutely loaded with fresh meaty prawns.We had a pint of cider and half a larger.All this for £23 !!.How can lovely food and nice drinks be so reasonable??On Fridays it’s steak night. Were else can you get an 8 oz fillet for £10This is a must visit pub if your in the area. We would definitely recommend it for drinks And food

After moving to the village a few months ago I have been here a few times now and I can honestly say the food and atmosphere is the best around by far! If you want real good quality food and good portions this is the place!

Earlier in the year I used to go to the Malcolm Arms every few weeks for a carvary with my boyfriend, his son and sometimes my friend came with us. The carvery is amazing! I’m well over due for another visit. Staff are lovely and the owner is so nice! Can’t wait to get myself there again! Oh and myself and my friend LOVED the ice cream cake worth a try!!

Came here on Sunday lunchtime for the carvery. Between us we had the beef, the turkey and a vegetarian option and all were very nicely cooked. Excellent yorkshire puddings and a good range of veg. It was very busy but there were plenty of staff on hand so that did not cause any problems. Loads of deserts to chose from including a vegan option. The staff and management were lovely and overall we were very pleased with our visit.

I had to alter the numbers a few times no problem. Excellent carvery enjoyed by everyone attending 20 in total everyone commented on how much they enjoyed the food.. My sister had made an amazing cake which presented no problem they even supplied the knife as paper plates. The Lamb was delicious (thank you I know it is not a requlair meat) Everyone felt comfortable and the staff were welcoming and helpful second only to the faultless food. Thank you for making my day special and for the card. We will be back soon x

We stopped off here on our Boston Belle boat trip for a 2 course carvery and desert.

We have just returned from enjoying Sunday Lunch with our son and daughter-in-law. A delicious meal, hot, wonderful choice of both meats and particularly vegetables, which are often lacking on carveries.

Friday night steak night, excellent value. All meals are freshly cooked and served by friendly staff . All in all a great pub and great food .

The Malcolm Arms is a very well run pub with a welcoming atmosphere. Nikki and Mark do a grand job of keeping the whole place spotlessly clean and tidy while providing excellent quality food and service. Their Carvery on a Wednesday and a Sunday is really amazing : such variety of food and so tasty. Even if the restaurant is full, the bar area has seating and tables, so no need to miss out on the dining experience. Well done to Mark and Nikki for working so hard and providing us with such a delightful place to eat and drink. Keep up the great work.

Such a lovely place! Really clean and tidy. The steak and ale pie and chips was delicious! Food was to die for and the gentleman serving behind the bar and he took out orders was so friendly and lovely, it was a pleasure to experience such fabulous customer service from him! My wife took me here for lunch to celebrate my birthday, and they gave me a card! Great start. The staff were helpful and friendly. I had a very tasty drought beer and an excellent Beef Stroganoff, followed by sorbet, while my wife had a positively enormous fish and chips. First class food and service. Will definitely eat here again.

Met up with an old friend here as it is pretty much equidistant. Really glad we did; we met and had a lovely bar meal as we had our dogs with us. We were made really welcome and the food came out quickly and was lovely. Nothing was too much trouble, even though two of us have tricky allergies! Just across the road is a terrific walk by the canal for the dogs, so we will definitely be back. Thank you.

On one of our Friday walks we ventured back to the Malcolm Arms in Anton's Gowt and we were really impressed with the quality of the food and the standard of service.

Visited with my wife for a meal.

Today 13/01 four of us had lunch/dinner. We were met at the bar by our hostess ordered drinks. and from there shown to a table that had been booked. and told that when ready we could go to the food counter and choose our food. a selection of four meats. I am not one for too much veg but again the selection was tempting for those who do eat veg, we were asked after a few minutes if every thing was alright( up to now) we had barely started. each of us had filled our plates, and enjoyed the atmosphere and the company on tables close by the staff were very attentive and made sure we had all we needed, we had more drinks and stayed for two hours. there was no rush to get us out of there, plenty of tables, and more customers. we paid and left, vowing to return some other time. the meal was totally within our budget including two drinks each person paid approximately £14 a very good meal and certainly not expensive. and yes we will be going again soon.

It's changed hands again but I think the new owners are better , a bit more down to earth so to say , good food at a reasonable price, plenty of parking, DOG FRIENDLY, very near the river with some good walks.

We were looking for somewhere different to eat for my sister's birthday so we decided to try the Malcolm arms, we found the landlord's very welcoming and on our table there was a birthday card for my sister which was lovely my sister was very pleased. for our starter we had prawn cocktail which my brother in law said was lovely, my sister and I had garlic mushrooms and what we thought was a dip but when it came it was just a drizzed over the salad and the mushrooms were very bland and didn't taste of anything. For mains we had ham egg and chips my brother in law said that was lovely, my sister had beef lasagna and that was lovely too, I had steak and ale pie pastry was very hard and was very dry inside there was gravy but didn't really help the pie, the waiting staff were lovely. I would go back there but try something different the next time, and there was a band if you could call it a band there was two people but they were okay.

Trip on the Boston Belle combined with lunch here. Great value. Good, tasty Sunday lunch carvery and choice of deserts. Never been here before but will definitely recommend.

This was a very pleasant surprise, 10 minutes out of Boston, well worth the drive. Nice comfortable Restaurant.. Traditional English Countryman's Food. Very satisfying. I chose the Liver & Bacon (an easy dish to cook wrong) it was perfect!

Great carvery served on Wednesday and Sunday. Efficient service with friendly waiting staff and top quality food. The meat is always tender with proper gravy and homemade Yorkshire’s.

We were a group of 5 female cyclists, who rode out to you today from Lincoln. We enjoyed a super lunch, and appreciated your bike racks and your kind offer to top up our water bottles for our return ride home. Will definitely recommend you to other cycling friends. Many thanks!

Decided to call here as we had passed many times, we were glad we did. Lovely welcome and a good selection of beers to try. Decided to have a meal which was lovely we will be calling again soon .☺️

This was part of a river trip on the Boston Belle and Sunday Lunch at The Malcolm Arms. This was our second visit to the Malcolm arms and the previous time the new owners had just taken over. On that visit a year ago we were told there was no veggie option so we just had the carvery vegetables, as they were new to the business we gave them the benefit of the doubt. This time we asked for the veggie option (pre ordered) and were met with blank stares, we were then given a choice of veggie options which was cooked for us which meant we had to wait while the other people in our party ate their lunch. The food was plentiful and the nut roast was good but the vegetables were rather mushy and overcooked and the roast potatoes were horrible. We were offered a choice of only three deserts despite there being 12 options on the desert menu, apparently as part of the cruise deal we were only allowed rhubarb crumble, ice cream or the lemon meringue tart which when it arrived was frozen in the middle. There was a shortage of cutlery so we given soup spoons to eat our desert . A year on and the organization at the Malcolm Arms does not seem to have improved.

We arrived by the Boston Belle to a lovely mooring with beautiful tow path walk. After short walk we arrived at the Pub we were welcomed by two ladies who served us drinks and told us which table to sit at. The carvery meal was abundant and very nice. We got dessert too which was also delicious.

Delicious well cooked food especially our rib eye steaks. Young family also catered for. Fine selection of good pub grub and the extra special meat and fish meals. Thoroughly recommend it. Good car park and just over the road to a great river path to walk along

Just got back from a faultless meal , it was really good ,so many vegetable lovely beef , Yorkshire pudding.

We hadn't visited the Malcolm Arms for several years but after hearing decent reviews decided we had to revisit. The pub wasn't busy but the was understaffed with one girl serving drinks, taking food orders and waiting on. I had a pint of Bombardier, tasty but with a haze and my other half had a slimline tonic. I ordered a ham and cheese baguette which came with coleslaw, chips and a side salad. My other half ordered a ploughman's salad, once again with ham, cheese, coleslaw, salad and pickles. Both meals were tasty and filling but both were served up on a warm plate, so the salad was wilting and my other half's cheese melted. Curiosity sated we will not call again.

Visited here a few months ago for my Birthday, met the lovely Nicki and Mark who provided my Husband and I with 2 huge meals which were extremely tasty and excellent value for money. At that time, Nicki told us that next time we visited we should maybe think about trying the giant Yorkshire puddings. As we were on holiday this week we decided to do just that!

Lovely evening had by all, Food was excellent a wonderful selection of salads.New potatoes and beef for people who didn't want chine .It was a charity night and packed.

I visited this eatery about 6 months ago with family for Sunday lunch and was impressed. Visited again recently with family and friends and I found it to be a place where service is good, staff are friendly and food very good. Its on our list when we next visit Lincolnshire; I have no hesitation in recommending it and I know our friends have made a repeat visit with their family.

My wife and I called in to try the food after seeing good reports on here we were not disappointed. We were greeted and made very welcome by the bar staff. first impressions were a clean and lively place to be.

A much improved pub Staff very friendly and helpful, we called in because it was the only place we could find open , the food was ok basic but ok and I will use again. A added bonus you can take your dog in the bar area

After the review I gave of this pub back in 2016 I revisited the pub again on the evening of 16 April 2018. I dont know whether the landlady had received some tragic or disquieting news but the reception that my friend and I received at the bar was the coldest and most inhospitable we had ever received. It was the kind of reception that made us both feel very uncomfortable so much so that the thought of staying longer or eating there was pushed furthest from my mind. I hope that this isnt a similar experience shared by new customers.

The current website does little to enhance or do true justice to the present varied and comprehensive menu, because for example an excellent Sunday Carvery is available.

It was my Birthday today so my Husband and I thought we'd pop out for a bite to eat. Having read great reviews on here we thought we would give The Malcolm Arms a go.

I would highly recommend Malcolm Arms. Food is homemade and cooked to a high standard, very tasty. Landlady very friendly.

Went for tea last night with my husband and it was lovely! On arrival we were greeted by the friendly barmaid, then shown to a table. Both had mixed grill (see picture... it was incredible!!)

We went to the Malcolm Arms last night with my sister and brother in law it was really really good I had a 10 oz Rib eye it was one of the best steaks I have ever had cooked to perfection being a butcher by trade many years ago I know my meat proper chips and onion rings salad coleslaw grilled tomato mushrooms. Brother in law had a 16 oz gammon all the trimmings what a plate full my sis had haddock chips peas the wife had Hunters Chicken new pots and veg we was all stuffed no room for pudding we all four Definitely recommend it be hungry .We will be going again in the not to distant future keep up the good food.

Booked for brothers 50th birthday as had been a few times .The food was excellent and enjoyed by all.vegetarian and kids meals were good.Had a lovely meal .Thanks to all the staff who were brilliant.

We attended this venue for a function. The surrounding was really nice. Excellent and warm conservatatory dining area. Also eating area near the bar. Nice location near the lock with the river Witham. This is a lovely cosy location and will deffinately visit again.

I went to the Malcolm arms with my husband and daughter for Sunday lunch . I am vegetarian and was delighted to be served a home baked vegetable pie with vegetarian gravy and all the usual Sunday dinner sides. My daughter and husband had a beef roast dinner which they both really enjoyed . The staff were very friendly and the pub had a lovely relaxed feel to it. We will definitely be going back ! To top it all it was very good value for money !!

I had heard conflicting reports about this eatery and was a little apprehensive on our visit but wasn't disappointed with what I found. I understand that the new owners had been in place for two months and they are doing a grand job. We received a very friendly welcome and shown to our table (reserved) in the Conservatory. The Sunday carvery was good, excellent meat choice and of good quality. My only slight criticism was that there were no option of boiled potatoes, I prefer these to mashed/roast. In conclusion all I can say is "Well done people,continue as you are doing and you're on a winner!!"
