Makkie’s Pizzeria in Isle of Wight

What a treat! Pizza to die for!! Great selection, prepped and cooked in front of your eyes in an impressive wood fired oven. Fully licenced. Would definitely recommend and will certainly be going again. Bravo!

Staff very helpful and friendly, we popped into the restaurant for a couple of takeaway pizzas tonight with our dog, we had the Meat Feast and Veggie pizza, both were absolutely delicious. Freshly made, generous toppings on a lovely stone baked base. Sooooo much better than the chain style pizzas !!

We came here for a meal whilst staying in Shanklin. Pizza was absolutely delicious and freshly made in open kitchen by the chef. Lovely waiter who was very kind and couldn’t have been more helpful. Very impressed - great little restaurant!

WOW, only stayed in Shanklin for two days but we were luckily enough to try Makkie's. The staff are amazing from the chef to the serving staff. The chef even went out of her way to make a special sauce due to allergies, nothing was too much trouble even ensured we were out in time to see Paul Young at the Shanklin theatre. Cannot fault the place spotlessly clean, great pizza with loads of loading and great staff what not to like. Thank you to everyone on making our visit wonderful will eat here again whenever we are back.

We tried the Chicken pizza and the pepperoni and both were great tasting with plenty of topping. The service was good and the price for 2 Pizza's and a bottle of wine was approx £30 which I think is great value for a night out.

Visited the Isle of Wight for 4 nights and ate here 2 out of the 4. We'd originally said we'd try somewhere new each night, but it was that nice we had to go again! The menu isn't extensive, but the Pizza and Pasta that they do is done extremely well. We've been to a lot of Italian restaurants over the years, trying to find one that matches up to the real Italy, and this is the closest we've found. All the staff are very welcoming and friendly and the prices are so reasonable. Would recommend to everyone. I'm just gutted we live up North and it's so far from us!

Myself and husband went for dinner here on Wednesday evening! We had a perfect window table, the service was fantastic and the pizza and garlic bread were out of this world! I eat pizza a lot... and this pizza was definitely the best yet! If you are staying in Shanklin make sure you visit here! We will be back!

Ate here on a Friday evening as wanted a simple quick dinner, Pizza was cooked really nicely. We had the pizza in as they have a few tables to the side. Service was very good. Really enjoyed and good value as well.

Excellent meal here with friends and family loved the seafood pizza lovely fresh pizza and the meatball were fab so tasty defently worth a visit whilst on holiday in the Isle of Wight.

Looking for a pizza to eat back at a campsite and Makkies came recommended here. We weren’t disappointed. Service was super friendly and the pizza was fantastic - fresh and full of flavour. Our girls had the meatballs and these were amazing. The chef came out to tell me on collection about the homemade dipping sauce and it was divine. Garlic bread was the best ever too! Only wish we weren’t holidaying so could have it more often. Bravo!

Makkie's is a small pizzeria in Shanklin high Street.It doesn't have many tables so it does takeaways also.It's modern looking inside and has a large oven in the centre for its stonebake traditional pizzas. It's inexpensive, clean and has very efficient service. If you like very good stonebake pizza Makkie's is well worth visiting.

The pizza is lovely - fresh British ingredients with an all-Italian dough! Perfect combination! The staff is friendly and the place very cosy. We enjoyed our meal and hope to be back soon.

From the minute we walked in we were greeted and the chef came over and interacted with my baby son and talked with my daughter. Ordered Makkies special and 3 Bolognese. Served quickly, boiling hot and delicious, Couldn’t fault a single thing about anything, even the drinks were delicious. Daughter asked when we’d be going next before we’d even left. Perfect family meal

Decided to get a couple of pizzas here as we were staying locally. I have to say that these were some of the best pizzas I’ve had. Cooked from scratch whilst you wait the service is very good. The chef cooking the pizzas was very apologetic that we had to wait whilst he cooked pizzas for people in the queue in front of us. Very friendly staff and very good value for money. Would certainly recommend

Makkie’s is a small, clean and friendly Italian pizzeria in Shanklin. Everything is freshly made and you can watch the chefs flip the pizza in the open kitchen. It is the nicest pasta and pizza we’ve had in a long time. The dough is incredible! I don’t like cheese and it was no problem to accommodate me - my garlic bread with oil and olives was delicious! We couldn’t believe how reasonably priced it was for the quality. A pizza, salad, pasta dish, garlic bread and drink was £27! Portion sizes were huge and service excellent. Highly recommend!

Best pizza I had in years. Small restaurant but very friendly and clean with an excellent service and really authentic and delicious pizza with fresh ingredients. Price very reasonable. We went there twice with our 10 years old and we loved it. I can only highly recommend it.

Best oven-baked pizza at very reasonable prices in clean, spacious environment. My son wanted pizza so no expectations. Therefore pleasantly surprised to enter Makkie’s with its open oven and the chef flipping and preparing pizza, snapping basil off the plant, in front of you. Lack of dessert menu didn’t prevent son from ice cream. Reminded me of being in Italy.

Dropped in on the way home when the fisherman’s pub was closed. Really pleased we did - lovely pizza enjoyed by all.

Dropped in whilst in the area after reading reviews and wasnt disappointed. Quick service, pizzas arrived around 15 mins after ordering, had one pepperoni and one chicken, both delicious. Highly recommended, best pizza we've had in ages. Not a massive place, with seating for around 20.

Amazing pizzas and fantastic staff. The grilled feta cheese side dish was one of the tastiest things I have ever eaten. Reasonable prices and empty plates all round. A great find...would highly recommend!

Myself, wife and 11-year-old son arrived in Shanklin after a long journey from Scotland and picked Makkie's for our first meal as it looked like somewhere we could get a decent pizza. We found we were in for more of a treat than we could have imagined. The service was prompt and friendly and the pizzas extremely generous, crisply stonebaked and extremely tasty. Very reasonably priced, too. Definitely worth revisiting.

Had a great meal at makkies, children both had spag bol and both loved it. We had pizzas which were amazing. The base made it, really crisp, not like the Pizza Hut/Dominos c**p. Will come back if in the area again - thanks.

Spent the afternoon in Shanklin. Decided to have pizza before heading to the chine. We arrived just after 5, so the restaurant was quiet. We chose our table and took in our surroundings. The waiter was welcoming and helpful without being ott. The pizza and salad was really tasty, and enjoyed by everyone. The restaurant is clean and bright. There is a small seating area away from the bustle of the open kitchen, or tables in the window where you can watch the world go by or the chef at work. They do takeaways to so I imagine it can be busy at times. Worth a visit!

Out of all the places we have eaten in Shanklin, this place was one of the best for food. It was more than we expected. Great service, great food and a nice glass of wine. If you like a good pizza, go there. Fantastic.

This place is open between 5 pm and closing, only. The owner and cook is a Greek guy. The restaurant has 5-6 tables. Everything is neat. However, the pizza is NOT a very good pizza. Maybe the best on the island, but definitely not a high standard.

Brilliant real Pizza ,chef made me a Calzone rolled and baked in front of me with real pizza dough. Clean restaurant and aromas out of this world friendly staff and great value will be back very soon !!!!!!

We enjoyed some absolutely delicious pizza with our young family and received kind, courteous and thoroughly pleasant service from all there including some local knowledge and tips. Highly recommend if you’re staying nearby or passing through. It does takeaway but is set up very nicely to eat in too. Yum! Thanks guys!

Great pizza - when you tap the crust it rings hollow, a sign of proper pizza dough. Really good food and service.Very special - worth a detour, you won't be disappointed.

We were recommended to dine here, and it was really good. Wonderfully light pizzas. Service very friendly and welcoming, and a really nice seating area. Excellent dessert, too. Probably the best pizza place in Shanklin, though easy to miss so keep a sharp lookout as you walk!

Stopped in for a pre-theatre meal due to convenient location and good reviews. Even better than expected, staff were terrific giving fast and unobtrusive service. Pizza is one of the best I've had outside of Italy so will definitely be back when next on the island, highly recommended.

Fantastic freshly cooked pizzas. Friendly and helpful staff. The chef noticed my son struggling to eat his jalapenos and offered to make another pizza for him without, this sense of genuine care and concern is rarely seen in restaurants. The waiter was very attentive too, making conversation and showing an interest in why we were visiting IOW. We would recommend this pizzeria.

Pizza Vesuvius and spagetti Napoli were good with Peroni beer. Fast service and polite staff. Google describes thos as take away but there are also tables. Almost all we saw eated in the pizzeria.

Excellent pizzas. We have eaten here and have had a takeaway several times and not been disapointed.

Only recently opened I’m sure the stone fire pizzas on offer will be popular. In fact when it gets busy they may wish they have more seating. The takeaway service though is good and there is a genuine desire to please. All in all, a welcome addition to Shanklin eateries.

We went at lunchtime during half term - generally only opens in the evening. Lovely pizzas, great pasta - the small pizza was perfect for our 12 year old. Really friendly service and cosy environment.

Family of 6 with grandparents, parents & kids & everyone was delighted with the delicious pizzas & salad. Lovely thin bases, lots of topping. We had a range of pizzas & each one was excellent & really reasonably priced. Great service & exceptional value for money. All very happy & would highly recommend.

Took 3 teenagers here for birthday pizzas. It is clean, friendly, and bright. Most importantly of all, great value for money and fresh, authentic tasting food. Unlike other nearby market leading brands! Highly recommend.

Had our first pizzas from Makkies tonight 4 different toppings and everyone very tasty spaghetti bolognese was great and with free delivery whats not to like we will use Makkies again

Delivery was double the time they said it'd be, it was over priced and the pizza came almost completely burnt! Would not recommend!!!

Being an Italian that lives in UK since 2013 I have to say that Makkie’s really surprised me : The pizza is very good, the service is very friendly and the Greek Pizza maker makes the dough fly in the air like a proper Neapolitan Pizzaiolo.

The best pizza I’ve ever tasted in probably the whole of the UK! Freshly made and very generously loaded. I had to take away the complimentary Banofee Pie they very kindly gave us because I couldn’t possibly eat it tonight! We will be back.

Fancied treating the family to a real pizza tonight instead of the usual takeaway. Everything was made with fresh ingredients including the doughe. Enyoyed watching it being prepaired/tossed and put in a real stone bake oven. This restaurant is spotless and the lady who served us was so helpful. The Nutella dessert really topped the night off.

A warm welcome. Gratis olives and flatbread. Pizza base just as we like it. Pasta cooked to perfection. Excellent sauce. Beautifully clean and well presented rooms. I love the fact that the ovens are on view and you can watch chef prepare and make food in front of you. Simple food, but very well done (not always the case at some places). Good prices too

My family and I visited Makkie’s on our last night in Shanklin. Pizzas are all freshly made in a pizza oven and so tasty. Makkie’s has just recently opened and we wish the new owners every success with their new venture. Highly recommend this restaurant.

This place is what i would discribe as a hidden gem!. my diaghter and i wanted something for our first night on the island and ended up walking right past the window and thought this will do - as it has pizza written over the door. But this is no ordinary fast food pizza joint. The pizza's all handmade (thrown in the air :-)) and freshly prepared and made is the lovely stone pizza oven in the centre of the restaurant. The sauce is absolutely delicious and the pizzas just very tasty indeed. Its obvious this place has only been open a few weeks as you can feel the new establishment felling. but the food speaks for itself and i wish the owner the very best of luck as his hands are pure magic when he creates his food. An amazing gesture was when he came over to our table to ask about the food and engage in conversation with my daughter. A Real Star.

Having visited Shanklin for 8 years we have tried most of the restaurants and this is one worth writing about.

Vi hadde tre ulike deilige Pizzaer, alle var like gode. De hadde ikke alkohol lisens, men det var lov å ta med egen øl.

Went here while working in the area. Pizza is freshly made in the pizza oven. Really fresh and tasty pizza. Decent value for money as well. Be better when they have received there alcohol licence

we found this gem of a restaurant by chance. Decided to pop in and so glad we did. It has only been open a few weeks . the pizza was amazing . my 9 year old daughter had the spaghetti bolonese. It was an adult portion and she ate almost the whole bowl. She said it was the best she had tasted. I have never seen her eat so much. We had the dessert which you share. Nutella calzone with ice cream . we r here for another week on holiday and will definitely be back . would highly recommend .

Little and cozy. Very friendly staff. Me and the kids where hungry after a day stroling around,but because was late(10pm) we couldnt find an opened restaurant. Although it said they close at 10.30pm,they where very welcoming when we got there at 10pm,amazing pizzas, very fast service, freshly baked.

Newly opened restaurant. We stayed in Shanklin for 4 days. We went to that restaurant twice and we loved it every time so much, but what is good you can bring your own bottle of bubble. We give the owners 5*
