During our stay at Inveralochy we ventured into Fraserburgh for some food and found Maitlands restaurant, which is also part of a lovely furniture store. I have managed organisations and worked with the public for 30 years and spot great customer service within a split second. The ladies who served us from the waitress, cooks, to the person on the till, were warm, friendly, and really made our visit a great experience. We had lunch the first day and breakfast the second visit, and on both occasions the food was tasty and good value. It's not easy to provide a good service in such a busy environment, while making people feel welcome, but those ladies who work there done just that. I listened to how they interacted with people of all ages, how they made an old person sitting on their own feel so welcome, and watched how they stayed busy at all times rushing about keeping people happy and tables clean, not forgetting to ask if we were ok and fancied pudding! We'll be back for certain and won't bother looking around for anywhere else, we'll just head straight to Maitlands for our food. Next time we'll spend longer exploring the furniture store too as it looks as though there's some decent items there. Thanks everyone for treating customers so well, you're a credit to yourselves and the owners. Paul O' Connor MBE Burgess of the Royal Burgh of Aberdeen.

Maitlands is a furniture store with a restaurant incorporated. I am writing regarding both (1) The Store: I visited with the sole purpose of checking out adjustable beds. My contact was Shelley as I had been conversing on the phone prior to visit. My wife who is disabled required this type of bed for comfort. The service from Shelley was outstanding, explaining the products available with her knowledge. After about an hour I made a decision to purchase and that delivery would take place the following week and for my old bed to be removed. I had to work within a tight timeframe as having work done in the house eg: installation of a stair lift. (2) Whilst there I visited the restaurant, greeted cheerfully and led to table. Extensive menu. Quality of food very good and at reasonable cost. Maitlands is well worth the visit for a shopping experience or a dining one or both.

Had 3 amazing experiences with them recently where I've really felt they've gone above and beyond service wise. They didnt have to make a small pancake for my 2 year old, (I was somewhere else locally recently and they wouldn't), we couldnt make Breakfast with Santa due to illness and they gave us a takeaway, then more recently the massive amount of sandwiches we got for a party was excellent value for money. Food is always amazing and would highly recommend here!

Having enjoyed several excellent lunches here, we popped in again recently. We stood for some time before being directed to a table. It was fairly busy but sadly, after 15 minutes, no-one came to take our order so we left. We had watched as other tables were vacated and cleared. It's a pity as I had been looking forward to some mince and tatties!

We visited Fraserburgh on a recent holiday to Aberdeen and came across this restaurant in a home furnishing store by chance as we were passing. The menu had an extensive choice, the the food was reasonably priced and came with the option of smaller portions. Both me and my Mum opted for smaller portions and the portion size was just right for us. I had lemon sole goujons with chips and my Mum had meat pie with mash and peas. The food was really good and we would eat here again when we visit Fraserburgh.

Food was very poor I ordered hot chicken caeser salad, although there was 2 chicken breasts these tasted like they had been boiled! Totally tasteless and there was hardly any salad, it was the worst chicken caeser salad I've had,and it cost over a tenner! not even worth a fiver! For the size of the place and amount of staff (Who are very nice) you would think a lunch time meal would be at least average..... Sorry it was a total waste of money. Would highly recommend that you spend your money else where.

This was a real find. The restaurant is at the back of Maitlands where we never would have looked but for the recommendations of a local. On the day we were there, a special on the menu was stovies. Being from Australia we asked what stovies were. The waitresses had difficulty explaining, it because they didn’t know, but because they couldn’t compare it with anything. So they brought out a sample for us to try. I ordered the stovies which were lovely, my friend ordered the spicy chicken wings, also delicious. Very generous meals and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful and pleasant.

The food is lovely and the service is great. Its a lovely restaurant and a nice play area for kids. The only thing that will put us off going back is it is cold, the aircon was blowing and there was no heat. Had soup, coffee and fruit scone yesterday in this restaurant. Table service. Soup was ok but bread was a bit hard on the edges. Scone was inedible as it had been microwaved and was very doughy. Pleasant waitress who asked if everything was ok. I mentioned the scone. She said they had been made fresh that morning, so why was there a need to microwave them. I very much doubt if it had been made that morning. She spoke to I presume a supervisor who just rolled her eyes. I paid up and left, Probably the worst scone in the north east, what little I ate of it.

My wife and I called in her mid afternoon, after the lunch time rush for a quick coffee. It was anything but quick. It wasn't busy by any means and there was only one couple in front of us waiting to order. We ordered 2 black Americanos and a single slice of tray bake. The tray bake arrived within seconds - 15 minutes later the coffee arrived, not acceptable. I would have been more understanding if the restaurant/cafe had been busy with diners, but it wasn't and the couple who were in before use didn't receive their meal until after we had our coffee. In addition the first thing we noticed was that several, at least 5 that we could see, tables hadn't been cleared despite there being at least 6 members of staff on. Free WiFi but I can't recommend this place, take it as you find it.

I've always found the service to be excellent: admittedly, when it's very busy, which it is often, the food and drink may take longer, but the cooks and waiting staff are always polite. My mother is very hard of hearing and they're patient and kind. The restaurant is large, with room for people with mobility issues, or those with prams, to move around without disturbing other diners. I have visited Maitland's on two separate occasions and have come away extremely disappointed after each one.A friend recommended we should eat here as they had a good vegetarian menu.On our first visit, we found there were very few vegetarian options left on the menu, so one of our party ordered macaroni cheese with garlic bread. The bread arrived burnt to a crisp. Another of our party's food arrived cold. We complained to the manager as we were leaving and, to be fair, he did apologise and sent the payer a voucher for the full amount of our meal.On the second occasion, another friend ordered fish from the menu, only to be told, after a LONG wait, that there was no fish available. This is Fraserburgh!!!! No fish???? They then ordered another dish but only to be told that it was not available either. A couple of other items from the menu were also unavailable so we decided to walk out at this point as it was getting ridiculous. The service was slow, the menu limited, there is no real atmosphere and it is over-priced.We vowed never to go back.

My husband and I often go here together for some quality time or as a pleasant place to share a meal with our 16 year old autistic son. We always receive a warm welcome and the best of attention. This is a spacious restaurant with tables suitable for small or larger parties. The seating is comfortable and varied and there is a really good play area that can be easily supervised by sitting in the comfortable sofa area or one end of the large dining area. The choice of menu is excellent and reflects the local traditional food and the food is sourced locally and cooked from scratch. No reheated microwave meals! The meat comes from local butchers, fish from the local fishmonger, even the strawberry sauce on their strawberry tarts is bought in from the local bakery. So we like to eat here because it not only supports a local business but Maitlands supports lots of other local businesses as well. There is a daily board special, as you would expect, and various meal deals. However we see our visit to Mrs Maitland on a shopping day as a treat and usually opt for their special home made beefburger ('The Works') which consists of a large beefburger served with bacon, mushrooms and melted stilton on one side of a bap and a salad with tomato relish on the other side of a bap. This is served with a dish of coleslaw and chips on a wooden platter. We also enjoy the Turf & Surf! Would recommend to anybody.

Regular visitor here with my son. Service is usually prompt and Food is generally to a good standard. However £1.85 for a soft drink seems very excessive in my opinion. Would also like to see increased flexibility with regards to set menu for instance, when I ordered soup and sandwich, I asked for a few slices of tomato in my sandwich and was told by the young waitress "They are quite funny with regards sandwich fillings". I would not mind paying a small charge for an extra filling but would not like to be charged £2-£3 for a few slices of tomato in a sandwich.

Its been a few months since we last visited Maitland's , so we thought we would have a lunch their again. Although very busy the waitresses were extremely welcoming and very pleasant. Being busy we were told our lunch might be 10 to 15 minutes in arriving, being informed of this is much better than being told nothing. Our meals arrived as promised and were of excellent quality which we thourally enjoyed.

Lovely home cooked meals, can be pricey for a daytime lunch compared to other places, service always good but staff do not always point of offers etc there was a soup sandwich offer but if you chose the wrong combination you got charged £12.99 which is quite a lot for soup and sandwich, nice play area and always clean and good service, plenty room for prams and good changing facilities, menu often the menu but plenty to choose from and never had to complain. had Xmas lunches here with group of friends and always left feeling satisfied .

Really good menu with excellent choices. The food was fresh and delicious, sadly I didn't have enough room! The staff were attentive and friendly and the service was very good.

Food was brilliant we had the broch burgers and they were epic. Staff were a tad slow and easily confused by larger tables. Kids loved the play area

As a Chef myself,I was very disappointed with the cuisine at Maitland's.Very Expensive for such bog standard fare. How do they continue to get away with it?Homeless shelters are serving tastier food.SHAME ON YOU MAITLAND'S.

We said we would not go back after our last visit but as there is very little choice in Fraserburgh we gave it another chance. The service and food was of an acceptable standard with quite pleasant surroundings.

Visited for lunch with friends. Had some homemade soup and a sandwich which were very good. Not our first visit and always had good food, although a little on the expensive side in comparison to other places we've been. Excellent portions, and fresh produce. Good coffee and home bakes too.

Enjoy my lunches here. The soups are home made and always lovely. The stovies are amazing too. In fact everything I have had has been very good. I know it has a reputation or having slow service but I have never found that and to be honest if you want good food then a little wait is alright by me!

Up from Manchester area visiting family once a gain went into Maitlands for morning coffee. Fantastic choice of home bakes. my sister and I chose scones these were excellent coming with a dish containing butters and a good selection of jams. My husband (a cake freak) had a meringue this put him in cake heaven it was so large it filled a soup plate and enough cream for me to steal some for my scone. We were only up for 10 days but had to go back so that he could have another one. Altogether a excellent experience don't understand the disparaging reviews as we have always had really good service in pleasant surroundings. Going back later in the year and will certainly go again to Maitlands the best in Fraserburgh.

Maitland’s Restaurant and coffee shop is the best place in Fraserburgh for lunch. I flew over from California with my husband and 2 young children to visit relatives in Fraserburgh and was lucky enough to visit when the Super Saturdays event was on in the town. There was a real buzz to the town with plenty of little stalls selling crafts, cakes, meats, fish and jewellery. We visited Maitland’s Restaurant for lunch and found a healthy menu with friendly waitresses. My children were delighted with the freshly made pancakes & syrup. The cook shop situated adjacent to the restaurant had a huge selection of modern and colourful utensils and appliances all of which I wanted to buy. I will definitely return to the town of Fraserburgh and Maitland’s. A side note for moms with small children. Maitland's restaurant has allocated a small play area for children and the restaurant is very spacious with plenty of room for strollers.

Went in for light lunch, after ordering we had 15 minute wait for a "Homemade Soup" and a " Toasted open Scone with Cheese and Red Onion Mayo"Soup was passable but the Scone was very dry,no butter and no sign of any Mayo. Both dishes were expensive for Fraserburgh, Soup £3.99 & Scone £4.99. Informed the staff but got no responce, only that they would let the Chef know about the Scone. We will not be back.

This evening my friends and I were out to enjoy ourselves having a lovely meal. But that did not go to plan, as we had to wait 2 and a half hours for our food! (one of my friends order a steak which was flavourless and the other order a starter which was completely disregarded when asked about) Although waiter was very accommodating and trying his best to make our meals come quicker, the whole place is severely understaffed causing backups throughout the whole restaurant. As our food was taking a long time we were told we could leave and not wanting to deal with us in that regard. Overall I am very disappointed in the service I received this evening, either this place has to cut down it customer intake or find a way to accommodate this volume of people.

We were there during the Haal festival and the restaurant was very efficiently run and the food was great.

Lovely food served by lovely staff. Great meal and very tasty food, well presented. Even put candles in the desserts for the birthday boys. Thank you Buchan Braes.

We had the most amazing afternoon tea experience in the Bubble. We can't praise the Banff Springs highly enough. This was a mini 'hen party ' and so much thought had gone into making this so special for the bride to be. Beautifully decorated, Beth and her team looked after us so well. The quality of the food and drinks was outstanding. A lovely afternoon was had by all. Highly recommend! A big thank you to all involved!

Good things : This cafe is in a great location and offers plenty of seating outside which is ideal for those with dogs. Not so good things : The coffee was ok although pricey for the size of cup. Cakes were nice enough, but had too much buttercream icing. Bad things : The layout of the tables inside is a bit congested. The volume and choice of music appears to be for the benefit of the staff because we, and those around us at other tables, to raise our voices to have a conversation.
